Ingredients
- 2 – 21/2 cup of water
- 1 1/2 cup of white chickpeas
- 1 handful of chana dal
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 onions
- 3-4 green chillies
- 2 heap tbsp ginger garlic paste
- water
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 3 tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
-1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 3 tsp anardana (pomegranate seeds)
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Coriander leaves
Method
- In a pressure cooker add water, white chickpeas, chana dal and salt. Let it cook for 3 whistles.
- Roast the onions without peeling and keep aside to cool down
- Grind together roasted onion, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and water
- In a pan add oil, bay leaf, grinded paste and cook it well
- Grind 3 tomatoes and add little water while grinding
- Add the grinded tomato paste to pan and mix it well
- Add salt, red chilli powder,black pepper, cumin powder, coriander powder and anardana
- Add the chanas/ chickpeas to the masala
- Cover the chole with lid for 15 minutes then add garam masala and coriander leaves
- Chole is ready to be served
