A Denver pediatric anesthesiologist and Colorado University School of Medicine assistant professor who, on Facebook, called Michelle Obama a “monkey face” has been suspended from seeing patients, reports the Denver Post.
Michelle Herren commented on a post about the first lady’s eloquence, notes The Independent.
She wrote, in part, “Monkey face and poor ebonic English!!! There! I feel better and am still not racist!!! Just calling it like it is!”
A Facebook user reported the rant to the Colorado University Board of Regents.
Thus far, Denver Health, the public hospital where Herren works, has barred her from seeing patients and is investigating what other forms of discipline they can employ, notes the Denver Post.
Firing her is not considered an option, as the comments were made when Herren was off-duty.
