Trump To Harley-Davidson: 'Don't Get Cute With Us'

President Trump on Thursday took another jab at Harley-Davidson.

President Trump on Thursday again slammed iconic US motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson over its tariffs-motivated decision to move some of its production out of the US.
"Harley-Davidson, please build those beautiful motorcycles in the USA. Don't get cute with us. Don't get cute," Trump said during his visit to Wisconsin for a Foxconn groundbreaking ceremony.
"They don't realize that taxes are coming way down. They don't realize it yet. Spent a lot of time with them," he added. "Build them in the USA. Your customers won't be happy if you don't."
These remarks come after he tweeted on Wednesday: "Harley-Davidson should stay 100% in America, with the people that got you your success. I've done so much for you, and then this. Other companies are coming back where they belong! We won't forget, and neither will your customers or your now very HAPPY competitors!"  He expressed similar sentiments the day prior, tweeting: "A Harley-Davidson should never be built in another country-never! Their employees and customers are already very angry at them. If they move, watch, it will be the beginning of the end - they surrendered, they quit! The Aura will be gone and they will be taxed like never before!"  "When I had Harley-Davidson officials over to the White House, I chided them about tariffs in other countries, like India, being too high," Trump also stated. "Companies are now coming back to America. Harley must know that they won't be able to sell back into U.S. without paying a big tax!" Harley-Davidson's decision is linked to Trump's decision to impose tariffs on allied nations like those in the European Union, notes the New York Times.  The EU responded by slapping steep tariffs on a number of US goods, including motorcycles.
