Mick Mulvaney In 2015 Said Trump's Border Wall Proposal Was 'Absurd And Almost Childish'

Mick Mulvaney in 2015 was sharply critical of President Trump's border wall proposal.

While the nation is in the midst of a partial government shutdown over funding for President Trump's proposed border wall, the incoming acting White House Chief Of Staff Mick Mulvaney once dismissed the idea as "absurd and almost childish."
According to CNN's KFile, Mulvaney made that remark in 2015 during an interview with WRHI radio in South Carolina.
"The fence doesn't solve the problem," he said about then-presidential candidate's wall idea. "Is it necessary to have one, sure? Would it help? Sure. But to just say build the darn fence and have that be the end of an immigration discussion is absurd and almost childish for someone running for president to take that simplistic of [a] view."
This news comes days after a two-year-old video dug up by the Daily Beast made headlines.
According to the media outlet, in the footage, Mulvaney says, "Yes, I am supporting Donald Trump, but I'm doing so despite the fact that I think he's a terrible human being."  Notably, Mulvaney made that comment shortly after the Access Hollywood footage featuring Trump saying a number of derogatory things about women was made public.  According to the New York Times: "A spokeswoman for Mr. Mulvaney at the Office of Management and Budget said the remarks were 'old news' and had been made before he had met Mr. Trump."
