An Oregon man has credited eating taco sauce packets with helping save his life after he and his dog were stranded in the snow for five days.
According to The Bend Bulletin, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office has said the incident began when "Jeremy Taylor, 36, and his dog, Allie, were riding on Forest Service Road 40 west of Sunriver [on Sunday] Feb. 24, when his vehicle got stuck."
Taylor and his dog had reportedly tried to leave the SUV but found the snow was too deep to navigate so they returned.
Sgt. William Bailey notes: "Jeremy stayed warm over the next four days by periodically starting his vehicle and used a few taco sauce packets he had as food."
The ordeal ended on Friday when a person riding a snowmobile spotted Taylor's car and alerted authorities who were able to successfully rescue the pair.
The man and his dog were said to be in good condition but hungry, reports CNN.
