Tennessee Titans cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting talks about Monday's practice, the first one in full pads.
Transcript
00:00 get the ball back for our offense and you're not doing that, you're not really
00:02 doing your job.
00:03 >> Does it feel good to put the pads on today?
00:04 >> It does, it does feel good.
00:06 >> Does kind of sense of urgency heighten sense of awareness or energy here?
00:10 >> Absolutely, I think guys are playing around, they got the pads on,
00:12 they're hitting, they're thudding.
00:14 And they're just being able to play football, being able to play real football,
00:17 physical football, archival football.
00:18 >> Sometimes on these days, the first period,
00:21 where the ball's placed at the one yard line, it's go time like that.
00:24 Or they run the Oklahoma drill, you see brawls or things like that.
00:28 None of that really happened today.
00:29 >> How would you describe the tone on the first day in Patsy?
00:33 >> I think everybody has an understanding of just wanting to come out here and
00:35 get better.
00:36 We don't really have the time for the fighting, for
00:39 the just the tussling back and forth.
00:42 I think it's just like the next play mentality.
00:43 Everybody's just here to get better, to get working, and
00:46 to ultimately reach the same goal.
00:47 >> How do you feel with the installs going and
00:51 the understanding of the defense and everything?
00:53 Is all that coming pretty quickly for you?
00:54 >> Yeah, it's coming well.
00:55 Coach Harris and Coach Booker do a great job of explaining what we have to do as
00:59 a defense, as a secondary.
01:01 And just they're doing a really well job of it.
01:03 And I'm just taking it day by day, stacking the days.
01:06 >> And how important is it to solve the stuff that goes on before you're out here
01:09 and after you're out here, regardless of the learning process and everything too?
01:12 >> It's very important.
01:13 And I think, like they say, you gotta bring the paper to the field.
01:17 You gotta be able to translate it onto the field.
01:18 It's not just Xs and Os out here, but it's real people moving parts.
01:21 And you just gotta know how to adjust when things are flying at you,
01:23 short amount of time.
01:25 >> Doing a story on numbers, you've got certainly an unusual one.
01:28 What made you decide on zero?
01:31 >> I think it was just a new opportunity.
01:33 I couldn't get 23, and that was the number that I wore.
01:36 But it was just really a new opportunity to start something fresh.
01:38 Like I said, they started the jersey this year.
01:41 So why not try to get into it and try to create a name for myself again?
01:45 >> So you had always worn 23?
01:47 >> 23 and 3 have been my numbers most of the time.
01:49 I had one in high school, but that's high school.
01:52 So 23 and 3 have been my kind of favorite numbers going back and forth with.
01:55 >> Any specific significance to those numbers, to 3 and 23?
02:00 >> No, 3 has just been my heart and soul since I was a kid.
02:04 And then I just 23 once I got to another level of basketball,
02:08 I started wearing 23 cuz of Jordan.
