00:00 Maybe a premier talented left tackle.
00:04 >> I'll say this, you can never replace elite talent.
00:07 You can coach guys, coaching makes an impact, it matters.
00:11 But ultimately, the better players you have, the better coach you are.
00:15 And so I will never pass up on elite talent just because I think we have a great
00:20 coach, great coaches with elite talent is special.
00:24 And so we're trying to get to that point.
00:26 But I will say there is times when you can take players though in roles that
00:31 maybe not necessarily at the top of the draft or for top dollar for agency.
00:35 But where you can develop players quickly and they can contribute for you.
00:39 Cuz as we all know, you're gonna have multiple sets of players playing up front.
00:45 Very rarely do you stay with the same five for the course of the season.
00:49 So that development and that depth is always gonna be really important.
00:52 And there's nobody better at developing it than him.
00:54 >> Coach, you've been on the job for six weeks.
00:57 Is there anything you've taken from Zach in that similar stretch in 2019?
01:03 >> Yeah, you just know what's coming to you.
01:05 There's a lot of really challenging things that come up in the first year.
01:09 And having been a part of that with Zach and
01:11 him being open to sharing those experiences has been really helped.
01:15 Make me feel like I'm prepared for this moment.
01:18 It's not been overwhelming at any point.
01:20 I feel very confident in my day to day operation.
01:23 A lot of that's because of the access that Zach allowed me and
01:26 the things that he talked about with me.
01:28 And there's gonna be adversity that comes.
01:30 And I think the most important thing I learned from Zach is if you could be
01:34 yourself and stay the same and be consistent,
01:36 you're gonna have a chance to get through all the things that come your way.
01:39 >> Thanks, coach.
01:39 >> Last one over here.
01:40 >> Yeah, what's the relationship between teams who found their quarterback in
01:43 the first round and the last round?
01:44 And what's your view about quarterback evaluation from that?
01:47 In your time in the league, how have you changed perception,
01:49 how you evaluate choice for that?
01:51 >> Yeah, the quarterback position is, if we're all great at it,
01:55 you'd probably see a lot more success drafting them.
01:58 But they come in all shapes and sizes now, and
02:02 I think that's ultimately what's changed the most is there's an open mind to
02:07 all the different ways a quarterback can play football.
02:09 There's all different styles, there's all different types.
02:12 But ultimately, I look for three things, decision making, timing, and accuracy.
02:17 And if you have those things and you're tough, generally speaking,
02:20 you can find a way to work at the quarterback position.
02:23 But it's not an exact science, everybody looks for things differently.
02:27 But I do think everyone's realized that there's a lot of different ways the
02:31 position can be played, and how you let those guys be in position to have success.
02:37 The way that they use Brock at San Francisco versus the way that we use
02:41 Joe Burrow in Cincinnati are different, but
02:44 both of them are equally successful, I would say.
02:46 So a lot of that has to do with what the quarterback does well,
02:51 things that they're very comfortable with, I think is important.
02:54 I think this age of coaching is all about making quarterbacks comfortable,
02:58 taking their feedback, and putting them in a position to have success versus
03:02 trying to make them do something that they're not necessarily good at.
03:05 I don't know if that fully clears it up, but I would say that's the best way.
