00:00 He was owned by a family in Las Vegas where it was legal to have monkeys.
00:03 I'm Stacey and this is Boo's story for GeoBeats.
00:09 He's the Brad Pitt of monkeys.
00:10 He is a very handsome monkey.
00:12 He's eyeballing you.
00:13 He might be small in stature but he's very large in personality.
00:16 Animal Tracks is a 501c3 non-profit that takes in exotic animals for a variety of reasons.
00:21 And lots of times its owners surrender from the pet trade.
00:26 Boo came from another state and when that happens they spend 30 days in quarantine.
00:30 That the CDC approves.
00:31 Do you want me to help you with that grape?
00:33 Do you want me to help you with this?
00:34 Do you want me to help you?
00:36 Watch.
00:36 Ready? Can you start filming?
00:38 Yep.
00:39 Okay so Boo look it comes off.
00:41 He had to gown up and wear masks and goggles and for 30 days he must have thought we were aliens.
00:45 The CDC has released him from quarantine.
00:47 You're a little dramatic.
00:49 Yep just a little.
00:51 He was raised more like a human child than like a monkey.
00:54 If you compare his picture to Eddie Munster it is interesting.
00:57 Boo has quality control.
00:58 Good job Boo Boo.
01:01 He was neutered which is what they do commonly to male monkeys.
01:05 Even though he thinks masculine the other monkeys don't always give him a lot of respect.
01:11 Boo really prefers the company of humans.
01:13 We couldn't live without the volunteer group that we have.
01:18 This is Boo my buddy.
01:20 Bob is a magical man.
01:21 One of the kindest human beings I've ever met.
01:22 They hit it off like long lost friends.
01:24 I am trying desperately to get him a best guy monkey friend and a best girl monkey friend
01:34 and I'm pretty sure he thinks the girl has cooties.
01:37 He is very against having a relationship with her and the boy monkey he's very lukewarm which
01:44 is really sad because monkeys will play together.
01:46 They have culture.
01:47 They play games.
01:48 They laugh.
01:49 They giggle.
01:49 What is that?
01:50 Oh you know how to do that Boo Boo.
01:52 And Boo only does that with people.
01:54 Oh my gosh Boo Boo you're so smart.
01:55 Monkeys are terrible pets.
01:57 A lot of times it starts out as wow look at this animal it's so amazing and you want to
02:00 show them off to your family and friends.
02:02 You don't like the password puzzle?
02:03 Pretty soon life gets busy and they're just waiting at home for somebody.
02:07 They mature around the age of three and once they mature and your friend comes over or
02:11 your family comes over and smiles you've now offended the monkey and now the monkey is
02:15 locked away because he bites people.
02:17 Boo likes a hose.
02:18 Boo is a capuchin monkey.
02:20 We believe 14 years old.
02:21 They can live up to 40 years.
02:22 Boo could never go to a zoo without paperwork proving that he's 100% pure.
02:28 Santa and Boo go way back.
02:29 Are you Santa's helper?
02:32 So sanctuaries are really important.
02:34 We take the imperfect animal and give them a quality life.
02:36 Boo is one of those animals that I don't think you could change his mind.
02:39 You have to just love him for what he is and he is a complicated beautiful beating heart.
