Pet store piglet will now get to live a sanctuary life
Transcript
00:00 We found out that there was a piglet being sold at a pet store.
00:04 And a pet store is especially not a place for a farmed animal.
00:07 So we wanted to just scope out the situation.
00:10 The doors to the pet shop were open on a busy highway and her cage was open.
00:13 We just knew that it was not a good situation.
00:15 We approached management and expressed our concern for this piglet.
00:20 We were there in the store for probably about an hour and in the end,
00:24 management did agree to hand the piglet over.
00:27 Thank you.
00:29 Thank you so much.
00:30 We walked out of the store with her and we didn't have to exchange any money.
00:33 Do you know what's gonna happen now?
00:36 She just became part of the family.
00:37 [SOUND]
00:40 Woohoo, Tootsie!
00:41 Tootsie.
00:42 Every single night she sprints around the house.
00:44 [SOUND]
00:47 And she'll bark like Neil, let out the funniest sounds.
00:50 [SOUND]
00:52 And she tries to get the cats involved, which doesn't always work.
00:55 [LAUGH]
00:56 We started introducing Tootsie when she was younger to some new foods.
00:59 [SOUND]
01:03 We fed her off the spoon just to make sure that we were not giving her too much.
01:08 [SOUND]
01:12 If she even hears the refrigerator open, she could be asleep and
01:15 she's jumping up and sprinting over to the refrigerator.
01:18 Tootsie would cuddle with anyone and anything if she could.
01:21 Did you steal my slippers?
01:22 I was doing some work on the couch and I looked over and
01:24 she was cuddling with our cat, and our cat really doesn't love cuddling.
01:28 She's very close with Neil.
01:29 The second that Tootsie saw Neil, she was like, that's my best friend.
01:34 If Neil was laying on the dog bed, Tootsie had to be laying on the dog bed.
01:37 If Neil was eating snacks, Tootsie wanted snacks.
01:39 If he was on the couch, Tootsie wanted to be on the couch.
01:41 She's always trying to rip Neil's diapers off, so
01:44 we call her Neil's personal stylist.
01:46 Neil had to be hospitalized for a couple days, and
01:48 when he was in the hospital,
01:49 we could definitely tell that Tootsie's energy and mood were subdued.
01:52 She wanted to be in my lap all the time.
01:55 She was more clingy and needed extra attention because she really missed him.
01:59 At this point, she's sleeping in the house each night, but
02:01 she's outside at daycare is what we call it.
02:04 So she's moving outside as we speak.
02:06 I know, baby.
02:07 [SOUND] I know.
02:10 She's definitely nervous, like running back and forth and
02:12 vocally telling us that no, she would rather be inside, but
02:15 it's getting easier by the day.
02:16 She is so smart and knows what she wants because she's thirsty.
02:20 She will not let us go back to sleep until we give her water.
02:22 If she wants a snack, she will wait by the refrigerator and
02:25 stand there until we open up the fridge and give her a snack.
02:27 Where's Tootsie?
02:29 She's completely house trained and
02:30 lets us know when she needs to go outside, just like a dog would.
02:32 [SOUND] Tootsie.
02:36 She also loves to snuggle.
02:37 She needs to be on top of our chest to feel comfortable and fall asleep.
02:41 My gosh.
02:42 From the moment I saw her, I knew that I couldn't leave her there.
02:45 If it didn't happen within those two hours, I would have been back there every
02:48 single day trying to convince them to let us take her and give her a good life.
02:52 [SOUND] Tootsie.
02:55 [LAUGH]
