00:00 Kelly Clarkson says she's not looking for a boyfriend.
00:02 I love being single.
00:03 Kelly Clarkson has revealed that she doesn't plan
00:06 on looking for a boyfriend anytime soon,
00:08 as she is greatly enjoying the single life.
00:10 In a recent Instagram live chat, Clarkson opened up to fans
00:13 about how difficult it has been starting over
00:15 after her divorce from ex-brand in Blackstock
00:18 and uprooting her life to move to New York City
00:20 for the Kelly Clarkson show.
00:22 Do I have a boyfriend?
00:23 No, and not looking.
00:24 You know why?
00:25 I love being single.
00:26 Clarkson explained to fans during a live stream,
00:29 I have two kids, two dogs, three rabbits,
00:32 a hamster, multiple jobs.
00:33 There's a lot going on.
00:35 And you know, you think you're going to spend
00:37 the rest of your life with somebody, and you don't.
00:39 That's hard to start over.
00:40 Since she released her latest album, "Chemistry,"
00:43 many fans have speculated most of the album
00:45 is about Blackstock since Clarkson's divorce
00:47 from her ex-husband was finalized last year.
00:50 The album notably chronicles the ups and downs
00:52 of a past relationship.
00:53 When a fan asked Clarkson what keeps her moving forward
00:56 with her life, Clarkson replied,
00:58 In all honestly, I think it's just happiness
01:00 and really making sure you're surrounding yourself
01:02 with people that, you know, you share similar things.
01:05 The American Idol alum added,
01:06 Obviously people that progress you as well as a human,
01:09 but I think it's more about happiness.
01:11 What makes you happy?
01:12 If it doesn't make you happy, stop doing it.
01:14 If it's not good for you, stop doing it.
01:16 It's hard to do.
01:17 She also said that her new surroundings
01:19 in New York City helped her move on.
01:20 For the new season of her talk show,
01:22 Clarkson recently relocated to New York City.
01:25 I love living here, and I'm a Texas girl,
01:27 so I did not think I was gonna love it so much.
01:29 But you will see this face all the time at the park.
01:32 I love walking around, explained Clarkson.
01:34 The Grammy winner added that her children love it so much.
01:37 Clarkson shares daughter River Rose, nine,
01:39 and son Remington "Remy" Alexander, seven, with Blackstock.
01:43 They love getting on the subway.
01:44 My son doesn't allow us to stand near him,
01:46 so he looks like he's by himself.
01:48 He's seven.
01:49 I was like, okay, and he's like, no, I'm alone.
01:52 Clarkson shares her son's affinity for the subway,
01:55 adding, I love the subway too.
01:57 It's so much faster than everything, even a car.
01:59 I love it here.
02:00 I think it's what you surround yourself with, she continued.
02:03 After announcing the New York City move in May,
02:05 the pop star has been vocal about prioritizing family.
02:08 COVID pointed out that being isolated
02:10 and so far from your family is not good for anyone,
02:13 Clarkson explained on Talk Shop Live.
02:15 And my family is East Coast.
02:17 They're North Carolina-based.
02:18 In an appearance on the Lost Culturist's podcast,
02:21 Clarkson told Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang
02:23 that in the beginning, not everyone was over the moon
02:26 about the big move.
02:27 My son is very excited.
02:28 My daughter, I'm still winning over.
02:30 It's not New York.
02:31 It's the fact that she just has friends.
02:33 Now my son is like, my friends will be fine.
02:36 Let's go.
02:36 He loves New York, she said.
02:38 Kelly Clarkson's daughter, River Rose, is stealing the show.
02:41 The nine-year-old lent her vocals to her mom's latest song,
02:44 "You Don't Make Me Cry,"
02:45 from the deluxe edition of her album, Chemistry,
02:48 released Friday.
02:49 Clarkson revealed in a post last week on X,
02:51 formerly known as Twitter,
02:52 that her daughter was five years old
02:54 when she was laying down tracks on the song,
02:56 which looks at a relationship unraveled.
02:58 The "Miss Independent" singer refocuses on her independence
03:01 in the mid-tempo, empowering pop track,
03:03 with lyrics including,
03:05 "I'd rather be alone than blue//
03:07 know it ain't easy but watch me//
03:09 walk the high road without you."
03:10 River Rose previously worked alongside her mom in 2019,
03:14 appearing in Clarkson's music video
03:16 for "Broken and Beautiful."
03:17 Clarkson's album, originally released in June,
03:20 dives into the emotions around her recent divorce
03:22 from Brandon Blackstock,
03:23 her husband of nearly seven years,
03:25 with whom she shares children River Rose
03:28 and Remington Alexander, seven.
03:29 "I was very, very angry," Clarkson told USA Today in June
03:33 about making the album while going through her divorce.
03:35 "I know a lot of people have gone through grief
03:37 or a big tragedy like a divorce,
03:39 and I know it's a common thing, unfortunately,
03:42 but there's nothing common when you're going through it.
03:44 It's very foreign, it's horrible.
03:45 A lot of times stupid, stupid stuff gets said,
03:48 and you just can't believe it.
03:50 I was angry and really hurt."
