00:00 I saw a picture of Beckett on a rescue site and I had the strangest reaction.
00:05 I got goosebumps over my entire body.
00:08 I brought him home and he had really similar responses to my other dogs who had been mistreated.
00:13 In addition to being afraid of people, he was easily startled.
00:16 One time I was brushing him and I caught his fur and he cried out.
00:19 So something happened. There's no way to know, but I'm really glad they gave him up.
00:25 After three or four months, he was feeling really confident and comfortable with me.
00:30 He does these huge hops and I always said he was part bunny, but I don't know where that comes from.
00:36 We go hiking every single day. He doesn't care about toys. He doesn't care about anything inside.
00:41 He just wants to be outside.
00:43 Go for a walk?
00:48 We go hiking for several hours every day.
00:51 Did you say something?
00:53 He has the husky howling that he does.
00:55 He's only 7% husky, but he's got the eyes, he's got the talking.
01:04 Go for a walk?
01:05 Husky DNA is powerful. The three main things he is are Chow Chow, American Eskimo, and Pomeranian.
01:12 He looked like a little kid drew a picture of a dog and then they brought it to life because the proportions are all wrong.
01:18 And yet he's perfect.
01:20 Is there a hungry dog in this house?
01:22 No.
01:24 He spent the first several years not wanting to have anything to do with anyone.
01:28 And then he became sort of indifferent to people.
01:31 Bag it!
01:33 Now he's really comfortable with people. It just took four and a half years.
01:37 He makes people happy because he's so weird, amazing, and funny, and gorgeous.
01:43 He's my fifth rescue of the five dogs I've had.
01:47 He's absolutely the happiest dog. It's really hard to not be in a good mood when you wake up and he's just ready to go for his day and just thrilled about everything.
01:54 Our bond is kind of ridiculous because I work from home and we are just never apart.
01:59 He gets annoyed when I go in the bathroom.
02:01 Can I have some privacy in the bathroom, please?
02:03 He follows me so closely that I can't even see him.
02:07 The longest I've been away from him was for an eye doctor appointment.
02:10 If I had a dollar for everyone who has stopped me to ask me about him, I wouldn't have to work anymore.
02:16 One of the things I like best about Beckett is he's like a poster dog for rescuing.
02:20 Everybody stops to ask what breed he is.
02:22 And if I tell them he was a dog that was rescued and had a rough start, and now he's this incredible dog and they see how happy he is.
02:29 I think maybe he makes people think that rescuing is a good thing and that you can get the most unique, special, incredible dog that way.
02:37 There was a little five-year-old girl who said he looks like a magic dog, which my heart, because he is a magic dog.
02:45 Yeah? Yeah?
02:47 [laughs]
02:48 I guess those goosebumps were right.
