00:00 >> Making his debut to play the way he did, even with the small rotation of the
00:04 blue, how do you like how he performed and four touchdowns, not a bad debut.
00:08 >> No, not a bad debut.
00:10 I got some great efforts from receivers.
00:14 I thought Hopper really got us off and going and we had talked about that being
00:17 a key of making sure that we're able to beat press coverage and
00:20 win on the outside and they let him play.
00:23 And we have to understand that.
00:25 And I think that kind of got us going, hit some other shots down the field and
00:30 so not only did we'll get some good help,
00:32 I thought that the opportunities to move the ball downfield were there and we hit.
00:36 >> How'd you like how he did from a big a boy's decision making standpoint?
00:39 >> Well, good.
00:40 I mean, even the unfortunately we made a call there on third and
00:43 four at the end of the game and
00:44 thought we'd try to catch him being a little bit more aggressive than what they
00:47 were and just told him, hey, we have to, if it's not there, we just have to get down.
00:52 We're trying to bootleg there.
00:54 What wasn't there and so he didn't throw the ball away.
00:59 I thought the one decision probably could have been better with the throwing
01:04 away to Chick, but then the other one throwing away to Derek,
01:08 I thought was good and saved us some yardage.
01:11 >> How much do you learn about someone at that age?
01:17 You can only learn- >> You can only learn it out there and
01:20 not even in preseason, but that football game with a good defense,
01:24 that defense had been playing pretty darn well the last couple weeks.
01:28 They've got a good scheme, they're well coached, and they've got good players.
01:31 They've got good corners, backers are smart, active,
01:36 safeties are all over the place, and then obviously a front.
01:39 So I thought the pressure, I thought we held up,
01:41 I thought the protection held up, which was great.
01:44 >> Had you planned- >> And we ran the football, sorry.
01:46 >> Had you maybe planned to use alternate the quarterback-
01:48 >> Yeah, we did, and
01:49 then obviously, unfortunately, just bad snap, gotta catch the ball, get on it.
01:54 Like any one of those three things have to happen.
01:57 So just stayed away from it.
02:00 >> Were you happy with his effort to recover that ball?
02:02 >> We just had, I'm not gonna comment on his effort,
02:06 other than to say that we wanna make sure that we just recover it instead of
02:09 picking the ball up.
02:10 So I didn't have the same view you had, Paul, but
02:14 we wanted to make sure that we just get on the ball and recover it.
02:17 >> When you have a rookie like that, that quarterback,
02:19 being able to use those shoulder picks and things to move the defense and
02:22 then the way he is, how impressive is that?
02:25 >> Well, it's not like he hasn't played quarterback before.
02:27 He's played, had some really good snaps in college and
02:33 stuff that we saw early on, that he was able to use to his disposal.
02:38 So it's just making sure that we're good with the football and being smart and
02:45 taking the chances and taking the matchups and putting the ball out front.
02:49 I thought that early on to trailing, kind of what we wanted to try to do,
02:54 but that was a well-placed ball.
02:56 I thought that that was probably maybe even a better play by the defense to be
03:01 able to get over there, but even that ball that was incomplete,
03:05 I thought that it was a good placement on the deep ball.
