Hawks win thriller against Orlando In Mexico City
Transcript
00:00 What a game it was in Mexico City last night.
00:04 Hawks magic and a back and forth thriller.
00:06 Hawks found themselves trailing by 11 against Orlando last night,
00:09 found a way to come back.
00:11 And look, the defense wasn't very good all night.
00:14 Orlando, who is a poor offensive team, mind you, really had their way.
00:17 I think they scored about 1.2 points per possession.
00:20 Not the way the defense wanted to play our game.
00:23 But the good thing is they found a way to get key stops near the end.
00:27 Trey Young shot 12 to 27, but it was more of a game like we've seen him have before.
00:33 33 points at halftime, finished with 41 overall.
00:36 Just a really solid all around effort from him.
00:39 Had eight assists as well.
00:40 Also another good game from Jalen Johnson.
00:42 He ran the floor well.
00:43 And just he continues to really settle in and
00:48 give this starting lineup something it hasn't had over the years.
00:53 I was a little surprised to see the Hawks out rebounded 37 to 26 in this game.
00:57 Hawks are one of the better rebounding teams in the league, but
01:01 Orlando did a really good job in this game.
01:03 And it looked pretty bleak down 11 with about eight minutes to go.
01:07 But the Hawks really buckled down on the defensive end.
01:10 And then of course you had Trey doing the wraparound pass under the goal.
01:15 Finding DeJounte Murray, it was very similar to a play he had earlier this year.
01:20 So again, I mean, Trey Young's one of the best passers in the NBA.
01:23 And seeing him make plays like that is not surprising.
01:26 But Hawks now have won five out of their last six.
01:30 And Orlando is a good team.
01:31 They're a young team.
01:33 I think they've fought a four and four with this loss.
01:35 But they have a lot of talent on that team.
01:37 Markel Fultz was back last night, that made them better.
01:39 So it was a good win.
01:41 Hawks have now won five of their last six.
01:43 Now five and three heading into Saturday's game against the Miami Heat.
01:46 Division game, Hawks are finally back at home.
01:49 They haven't played at home, I believe, since they played Washington last
01:52 Wednesday.
01:52 So it'll be good for them to get home and look to keep this winning alive.
01:58 But yeah, defense still has work to do, but
02:03 the offense remains one of the NBA's best.
02:05 I mean, Orlando, Minnesota, the Knicks all have really good defenses.
02:10 And the Hawks have just put it on them all.
02:13 The Hawks have not really had a bad offensive game.
02:15 This should maybe outside of the opening game against Charlotte.
02:18 So great win for the Hawks.
02:20 They'll be back tomorrow against the Miami Heat and
02:22 looking to get to six and three this season.
