00:00 >> I think, just taking it day by day, it's a work in progress.
00:06 But just trying to get back, get better.
00:09 And today will be a big test for me, see what I can do.
00:12 >> What was the kind of thing that plagued you?
00:16 I think you said it kind of stemmed from the leg and then went to the hip.
00:19 >> Yeah, I just think that there was a lot going on on my left side with my back and
00:23 my knee.
00:24 And obviously just things are obviously all connected.
00:27 So I think that was just something that was stemming from something that was
00:32 banged up within those two bones.
00:34 >> How much are you eager to get back considering just putting stuff on tape in
00:38 terms of next year, whether that be here or someplace else?
00:41 >> Yeah, I'm definitely eager to get back and
00:43 just doing everything I can to make sure that I'm on the field.
00:46 And just being able to play with the guys that are available to play here.
00:49 I tell them all the time, I just enjoy playing with these guys.
00:53 Obviously the record and everything is not what we want it to be.
00:56 But every time I'm on the field, I have fun and
00:58 I'm enjoying everything, every day I'm here to be able to be around these guys.
01:02 >> Does it feel like kind of how it was at the end of training camp,
01:05 you walk in and see all kinds of new faces walking around?
01:07 >> I guess you could say that definitely.
01:09 I was looking in the meeting room today and we had some new faces,
01:12 some familiar faces that I knew in the past.
01:14 But definitely does feel like a training camp vibe for sure.
01:19 >> How hard was it to just watch last Sunday?
01:22 >> Yeah, it's obviously tough when you can't really do much.
01:25 Obviously you're watching it from the outside looking in and
01:27 giving as much advice and things that you see.
01:29 But when you can't go out there and
01:31 do the things that you feel like you want to, obviously it sucks.
01:35 So I think that's just something that plays in my mind all the time for sure.
01:39 >> Is there anything you tell some of these guys after maybe a tough game like
01:43 that last week, particularly in the secondary,
01:46 that you keep them spirits high in that situation?
01:50 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously I just tell them all the time,
01:51 just try to take advantage of all your opportunities.
01:54 Obviously you don't get the same opportunities as other people all the time.
01:58 And so when your chance or when your time and your outcomes,
02:01 you have to take advantage of it.
02:02 And then whatever you're showing on that tape obviously goes to 31 other teams.
02:06 So just always putting your best out there, putting your best forward, and
02:10 always having a next man up mentality and a next play mentality when you're a DB.
02:14 >> How you feel?
02:14 You feel like you got a chance to maybe get back out?
02:17 >> Yeah, I feel like I do.
02:19 Like I said, I'm working every day to get back, doing everything that I can to make
02:22 sure that when I am out there, there's no offsets or setbacks.
02:26 And I can just kind of roll through it and keep going.
02:29 >> What's the personal motivation for you in getting back out there so
02:33 late in the season and kind of the pride that goes along with that?
02:36 >> Yeah, I really would just say playing football and
02:40 finishing like you said on a high mark.
02:41 And that's just being healthy, being obviously blessed to be out there.
02:47 And playing with the guys that I'm playing with, having the opportunity to be out
02:50 there and have fun with the guys that I started with is always a big thing for me.
02:53 And the coaches, I mean, you come in here every day and
02:57 your record's obviously not what you want it to be.
02:59 But they show up every day and they have the same type of energy,
03:01 same type of emotion, the same type of drive to wanna see you be great.
03:06 And so you can't really ask for anything more than that.
03:10 So that just helps me kind of keep going and keep pushing myself.
03:13 >> With the way this season has gone personnel wise,
03:15 especially for you guys in the secondary, how do you feel like,
03:19 maybe you've taken advantage of opportunities, whether that be reps on
03:23 the field, of course you've had when you've been healthy, but
03:26 also kind of in the leadership department as well?
03:29 >> Yeah, I think for myself, obviously just being in a different role and
03:33 more of a leadership role here.
03:35 It's been cool to kind of see the type of adjustments you have to make,
03:39 just talking to certain different guys and how they react to certain different
03:42 things, what motivates Roger might not be the same thing that motivates Elijah.
03:46 And things like that.
03:47 So for me, it's always been just learning who I've been around,
03:49 learning the people that I've played with, learning their personalities,
03:52 learning who they are as players and as teammates.
03:54 And then obviously when you know who they are, it helps you play better and
03:57 play better off of them and feed off of them more.
04:01 >> We've been in a DB room that's going through what this team's going through
04:03 right now, with you hurt, Christian hurt, Amani hurt, Kayvon.
04:07 Does this feel normal or is this not normal to you?
04:10 >> Yeah, I mean, I feel like I've been in a situation like this before.
04:13 I think in Tampa, there was a situation where a lot of us got hurt in one year.
04:17 But I mean, it's always the next man up mentality and
04:21 I feel like that's just how it is across the NFL.
04:23 You just gotta kinda stay ready to go when your time is called and
04:26 always just be prepared.
