00:00 I'm Matthew, Live Reporter for the Lancashire Post and Blackpool Gazette and this is our
00:06 weekly round-up of crimes and incidents from the county this week.
00:09 It was a busy week for Lancashire Police and the court system. From convicted killers to
00:14 a fatal motorway crash and an armed robbery on a Morrison's store, these are the incidents
00:18 which made the headlines this week.
00:22 Staff at the Morrison's Daily Store in Astley Village, Charlie were left shaken after an
00:26 armed robbery on Wednesday night. Armed with a hammer, the pair of thieves stormed inside
00:31 at 9.55pm, just minutes before the shop was due to close, grabbing a member of staff working
00:35 behind the till and demanding money. They terrorised the shop workers, smashing a perspex
00:40 glass shield, ripping it off the counter and threatening the frightened pair with the hammer.
00:46 The thieves fled the scene with approximately £1,000 in cash from the till. Fortunately,
00:50 none of the staff were harmed but the pair, a man and a woman, are said to have been left
00:54 traumatised by the robbery. No arrests have been made at this stage by Lancashire Police.
01:01 Officers are also searching for a missing man, who is also wanted on recall to prison.
01:06 Michael Ridings is missing from his home in Fleetwood. The 70-year-old was last seen on
01:10 Victoria Road West in Cleveland at around 7.40pm on Thursday. He was last seen wearing
01:15 a blue Adidas track suit bottoms, a grey t-shirt and a black gillette, which has brown fur
01:19 around the hood over a blue parka coat. Michael has links to Fleetwood, Cleveley's Blackpool,
01:25 Preston, Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. The public have been urged to call 999 with
01:30 immediate sightings of Michael.
01:34 Officers are also searching for a second man wanted on recall to prison. Ashley Barrett
01:38 from Blackburn is wanted on recall. He is of medium build and has brown hair. Officers
01:43 on Thursday released two new CCTV images of Barrett in hopes someone may recognise him.
01:49 If you have any information about his whereabouts, you can call 01254 353 246.
01:58 Police are also investigating the stabbing of a taxi driver in Blackpool. The Hackney
02:03 cab driver was stabbed in the stomach as he sat in his vehicle on Whitegate Drive at around
02:08 11.30pm on Wednesday. His dashcam was also stolen. The victim, a man in his 30s, was
02:14 taken to hospital, but police said he remained in a serious but stable condition on Thursday.
02:19 Officers said the inquiry is still very much in its early stages and further information
02:23 will be released as the inquiry progresses.
02:27 A 58-year-old man exposed himself to children, say police. A man who indecently exposed himself
02:38 in front of children in Burnley has been jailed. Alan Mercer asked the girls to stand guard
02:43 while he went for a wee in the woods close to Lockyer Avenue on Saturday. Having then
02:48 told the victims he had finished, they turned around to find the 58-year-old with his trousers
02:51 around his ankles. Mercer was arrested on Sunday following CCTV inquiries. He was charged with
02:56 exposure on Monday and appeared at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Mercer, formerly
03:01 of Astley Street, Dukenfield, was jailed for 26 weeks. He was also ordered to sign the
03:06 Sex Offenders Register for seven years.
03:09 A teenager has been found guilty of murder. Henry Horton, 19, of Barrison Green, Skersbrick,
03:15 was found guilty of murdering Matthew Dolby, also 19, who died after a stabbing in an arms
03:19 kirk in July last year. He was sentenced to Preston Crown Court at 10am on Friday, March
