00:10 Okay, so I promised we did not plan it this way,
00:15 that recording Thursday morning, the dawn of March Madness.
00:19 I'm gonna have the one guest with whom I make a promise every time.
00:22 And this promise I'm not going to keep, that we will limit the UConn talk as
00:26 favorites as reigning national champions.
00:28 Mike McNansky, formerly of EI,
00:30 currently of the world famous Muttstack, almost 3,000 subscribers.
00:35 We are gonna talk UConn, I'm sorry, it's gonna happen.
00:37 I don't know when it's going to happen, but it's gonna come up.
00:39 In the meantime, we have Patriots Talk, the Dynasty, and
00:41 another new segment called 15 Off the Field with my friend and yours.
00:45 Mutt, how are we doing today?
00:47 >> I'm doing good, I need to update those numbers.
00:49 We're over almost 3,500 subscribers now.
00:52 >> Whoa. >> At Muttstack.com,
00:53 thanks to, among others, the Callahan fans out there that have followed along.
00:57 And yeah, it's a great time of year.
01:00 We got college basketball, we have baseball starting next week.
01:03 We have all the draft rumors starting in the NFL.
01:05 So it's a very good time to be a sportsman.
01:07 >> It's a great time to wake up and have it be a Friday, which is generally right.
01:11 Half of those Fridays are probably paydays for you and I at home.
01:14 For me, it's always a Muttstack day because you get insights into sports media,
01:18 the Patriots, the Red Sox.
01:20 And look, it sounds like I'm gassing you up.
01:21 It sounds like I'm pumping your tires because you return here as a guest.
01:25 Though I think you once wrote or texted me that I only call you when I'm
01:28 scraping the bottom of the barrel, which is not true.
01:31 >> True, that's true.
01:31 >> I thoroughly enjoy this.
01:33 I think your writing has gotten appreciably better as you've done this now for
01:37 about a year.
01:38 I did check the subscriber number at the bottom.
01:40 I did not mean to shabby there, almost 3,500.
01:42 Speaks for itself at this point.
01:44 Moving forward though, we're gonna talk a little bit sports media again in
01:49 the 15 off the field segment.
01:51 This is YouTube exclusive.
01:52 If you missed our last episode with Jeff Howe, you will only find that segment
01:56 where we will do a non-Patriots topic with every guest on YouTube.
01:59 Today we are gonna talk Boston sports media with Mutt, who has a keen eye and
02:04 perspective in history with the market as well as where it might be headed next.
02:07 In the meantime, as promised, a little bit of UConn, Patriots,
02:11 the draft, and his final thoughts on the dynasty.
02:14 Okay, so the big question I sent you via email.
02:17 >> Yep.
02:18 >> A month to go until the draft, five weeks if we're being exact.
02:22 Patriots have the number three overall pick.
02:24 Everyone wants to know, who are they gonna take?
02:27 Odds makers still say Jaden Daniels or Drake May.
02:29 I say it'll be Jaden Daniels or Drake May.
02:32 What are the odds that they already know between the two of them,
02:35 who they'll take in your mind?
02:37 >> Very low.
02:39 I think they are going to be in a position where they're gonna be flexible.
02:43 And I don't necessarily love this idea Callahan, but
02:47 I think they're gonna be open for business at three.
02:49 I think that if they have decided that one of these guys is not the guy,
02:54 Daniels or Drake May, and someone comes calling with a massive boatload of picks.
02:59 Everything I've read about Elliott Wolfe, everything I read about his track record,
03:03 suggests that he'll be open to trading that pick.
03:05 So I think right now they're in a position of flexibility.
03:08 Maybe some guys have the leans where they wanna go at quarterback.
03:13 Other guys, but consensus of who they wanna take right now,
03:17 here in late March, March Madness time, I don't get that sense.
03:20 How about you?
03:20 >> So I wanna build a case for and against here today.
03:25 And we'll have more quarterback talk, I should have mentioned in the front end
03:27 with Carlos, another fan who donated to Boston Children's Hospital.
03:30 Thank you, Carlos, in a new segment that we're continuing to recur.
03:33 And we'll discuss with him more Jacoby Preset related.
03:37 The quarterbacks everyone wants to talk about, not Jacoby Preset,
03:39 all due respect of these two.
03:42 The case against them knowing is when we last spoke to Elliot Wolfe at
03:47 the combine, he made the point.
03:49 And what I think was largely a pretty open and honest press conference,
03:52 not entirely, but as much as he can be in that type of situation to say,
03:55 we haven't even met with these quarterbacks yet.
03:58 How would we know definitively who we wanna take if we've never sat in the same
04:01 room as these players?
04:03 Now they've done that there.
04:04 They will next week according to Sports Illustrated to Apple career,
04:07 where Mayo, Wolfe, Alex Van Pelt are gonna go to North Carolina and LSU and meet.
04:12 With both of these quarterbacks and I think whether it's Van Pelt or
04:16 it's Wolfe, even Mayo to a degree, they have an old school approach to this, right?
04:20 Like I wanna get to know you, I wanna see stuff on the board.
04:23 Are you an alpha?
04:24 How do you command a room, etc, etc?
04:26 So to me, it would be hard for them to say we really love Drake May more than
04:29 Jade Daniels.
04:30 If they've not been able to check those boxes that I think are important to them.
04:34 >> And I would say for me just personally of the two,
04:39 I think I started this process as just an observer of these guys play in college.
04:44 Like Drake May is the guy, the Josh Allen comparisons, big arm, mobile.
04:49 As the process has gone on, one of the guys that I follow, Matt Miller,
04:53 NFL Draft Scout, he does some work ESPN as well.
04:56 I mean, his stuff, his stock up on Daniels have been hot and
05:00 he's been way down on Drake May.
05:02 And so I've sort of followed his approach here where I,
05:06 Washington is likely to take a quarterback.
05:08 If Daniels falls to them at the Patriots at three,
05:11 that feels better to me than Drake May at this point.
05:14 Because it does feel like his stock has gone down a little bit.
05:18 And it's a weird group now.
05:19 It feels like with Caleb Williams being the alpha of the quarterbacks,
05:23 the rest of the three, you look around, they sort of feel interchangeable.
05:27 Which is why I do think there's gonna be some flexibility if some team falls in
05:30 love with a quarterback, the Patriots aren't in love with a three.
05:33 I'm not gonna be shocked if they trade them.
05:35 So personally for me, I would lean Daniels if he's there at three.
05:38 And I'm sort of out on Drake May at this point.
05:41 But I think the Patriots are probably still like you said,
05:43 trying to figure that out.
05:44 And you mentioned Elliot Wolfe.
05:46 >> Hold on, fully out on Drake May.
05:49 Mike Benesky right here, March 21st, fully out.
05:52 >> Not no, if it's, yeah, I guess fully out then.
05:56 Yes, I'm fully out on Drake May.
05:59 Fully out on Drake May as of whatever today's date is.
06:02 First day of the NCAA tournament.
06:03 With the right to change my mind, but today I'm out on Drake May and
06:06 I'm in on Jaden Daniels.
06:08 Either way, you mentioned Elliot Wolfe.
06:11 You said he was a very honest press conference.
06:14 I guess you and I have a different version of the word weaponize.
06:17 Because there's been no weaponizing going on with the Patriots office.
06:20 Unless you think KJ Osborne's one huge game he had,
06:22 NFL career is gonna translate to some star wide receiver.
06:25 So I have bone to pick with him about that word and
06:28 that use of that word in that space.
06:30 But it's fascinating.
06:32 I can't wait to see how it plays out.
06:33 But yeah, right now, stock up Daniels, stock down Drake May.
06:36 For me, guy in my basement talking on a camera on a Thursday morning.
06:40 >> Excellent, always an expert, that person, talking politics, sports,
06:44 conspiracy theories, which is more of the last part there.
06:47 Let's go back to the trade part though, cuz that seems to be your primary reason
06:52 for why you think there is a case against this idea that I posed to you.
06:55 Again, how likely is it the Patriots know who they want at number three?
06:59 And I'm gonna build a case for after we finish here.
07:02 But the Vikings threw a ton of coal into that furnace,
07:06 built up this fire when they made a trade up to get a second first round pick from
07:10 the Texans, which most people noted, hey, they already had a first round pick.
07:14 So when you package that 11th overall selection plus 23,
07:17 maybe a future first next year, that gets you into top three, top four territory.
07:23 I would argue that trade is more reflection not of the Patriots situation,
07:28 but the league at large going, yeah, we're in a JJ McCarthy.
07:32 We'll take your JJ McCarthy stock.
07:34 We will even take so much stock, it costs us all these picks to move up and
07:37 make that trade with the Texans.
07:39 I don't agree with that from everything I've watched of JJ McCarthy and
07:42 I'm kind of working my way back here towards the front.
07:45 We're gonna have full episodes dedicated to Jane Daniels and Drake May coming up.
07:48 Does that appeal to you,
07:50 this three first round pick kind of trade personally with the Vikings?
07:53 >> It's the issue, I don't agree with it.
08:00 I still think that premium blue chip player that you can get potentially at three,
08:05 whether it's the quarterback or
08:06 if they think Marvin Harrison Jr is the guy there at three.
08:09 That blue chip player, they're just completely devoid of that on this team.
08:14 Offensively and defensively, they've lost that top level of talent
08:17 through some very tough years of drafting.
08:19 Okay, that's why we're here right now with a 4-13 team who is desperate for talent.
08:24 So I think that blue chip talent is the most important thing.
08:28 And I guess the history would tell you that you're less likely to get that guy,
08:32 the further down you fall in the first round.
08:35 And so I'm saying with my brain tells me that likely they're thinking about
08:39 trading it because some team's going to overpay.
08:42 But on its face, I still want that player at number three.
08:46 I want the most talented guy available, and
08:48 I hope they're able to find that player.
08:51 But I think that there's some buzz that teams are falling in love with these
08:55 quarterbacks, might be willing to overpay.
08:57 And Elliott Wolfe, I think we're realizing now this is not a one year rebuild.
09:01 My big takeaway from these last couple of weeks has been,
09:03 if you thought they were going to be right back at it with a rookie quarterback,
09:06 like a Houston Texans type year, that ain't going to be this year.
09:10 This is a two or three year rebuild, and if he believes that as well,
09:13 he may believe in that value part of the pick.
09:15 So I don't love it, but I don't know,
09:17 I wouldn't bet against it right now if some team wants to overpay.
09:20 >> Okay, so that's where you're landing.
09:22 Personally, you're rooting for the blue chip player quarterback.
09:25 >> I want the player, but my gut tells me it's going to be a very
09:29 Belichickian field to let's accumulate picks.
09:33 >> Okay, certainly was a Belichickian field to free agency, and
09:37 that roster constructions that you hinted on.
09:39 >> Yeah. >> Is the number one reason I think
09:41 they already know who they're going to take their quarterback.
09:45 But let's put a bow on this, because the fact that they wouldn't know, again,
09:49 they're still gathering information.
09:50 >> They don't control, my argument right back would be like,
09:54 they don't control that.
09:56 If say they want one of the guys and he gets taken at two,
09:59 does that not automatically kick in the trade ship?
10:02 Are they going to be in a Mac Jones position where they just take the last
10:05 quarterback available to top three like they did with Mac, the last of the top five?
10:09 If they pick their guy, and I know you're arguing for it, but
10:12 if they pick their guy and that guy's not there, how do you think it plays out?
10:16 >> It's a great question, and look, there are three different options here, right?
10:21 They want Jaden Daniels and Jaden Daniels only.
10:24 They want Drake May and Drake May only.
10:26 And at that point, in either situation, you're just hoping, if this guy falls,
10:30 we're gonna have every reporter that we know, everyone in the DC area,
10:34 the DMV, asking, poking around, seeing what the commanders are gonna do, right?
10:39 The third option is what you just referenced, we're happy with both.
10:43 And there's some evidence to suggest that they are happy enough with both.
10:46 I know there are folks high up in the front office who told my colleague Doug
10:49 Kai they do like all three quarterbacks at the top.
10:51 And we're forgetting Caleb Williams, he's going to the Bears.
10:53 He and Keenan Allen are already hanging out,
10:55 going to Manhattan Beach in LA after his pro day.
10:57 I made that part up, but he was at the pro day, forget about it.
11:01 And I think if you legitimately like both quarterbacks, that's fine.
11:05 I think you understand you'll have to handle each of them differently,
11:07 because they're starkly different players.
11:09 >> Yeah.
11:10 >> I just think here, you probably lean one way or another.
11:15 So again, they're still gathering information.
11:18 It's not gonna be the workout you see on NFL Network, it hyped up all over Twitter.
11:22 My God, look at this row, we did this with Zach Wilson at BYU, lest you forget.
11:26 Basically every quarterback, trivia question.
11:29 Has there been a quarterback with a bad pro day throwing session?
11:33 Like Teddy Bridgewater got a lot of crap, as far as you can remember, obviously.
11:36 For wearing a glove, that was the best we could do from the pro day circuit
11:41 criticism of the throwing workouts, they mean nothing.
11:44 Do you remember anyone?
11:45 >> No, no, it's like every surgery, successful surgery, every pro day.
11:51 Great, great pro day, look great.
11:54 People freaking out about Kayla Williams throwing 60 yard,
11:57 70 yard pass yesterday.
11:58 No, and I think Wolfe is experienced enough that they're not gonna buy into
12:03 the hype of this stuff.
12:04 And like you said, there'll be a second and third and fourth layer to their
12:07 breakdown, but I keep going back to they like both of them.
12:11 I mean, they definitely like one of them better.
12:13 If they like them both the same, I'd suggest that's an issue.
12:17 And I hope they don't settle.
12:19 I hope they don't settle and say, well, the guy we liked better, 70-30 is gone.
12:23 Let's take the other guy.
12:25 And that will lead to a trade I'm not thrilled about.
12:27 But have some conviction with this pick and make a decision on,
12:31 this is the guy, if he's not there, here is our plan.
12:34 And although I'm concerned about that, cuz the plan of the offseason has not been
12:38 great if you're a Patriots fan, so the play on draft night,
12:41 I hope is a little more concise and focused.
12:44 >> Yeah, that reminds me, your point about weaponizing the offense.
12:48 >> Yes, thoroughly underwhelmed.
12:52 I don't think their needs in a way that they absolutely do with the draft,
12:56 receiver, offensive tackle, super deep class of both of those positions.
13:00 For agency, not as much.
13:01 They took a big swing at Calvin Ridley, they missed.
13:03 I'm not giving them credit for a single or even a hit by pitch.
13:07 They're out, Ridley's in Tennessee.
13:09 I just think the ability to weaponize the offense fully and
13:12 for agency was never on the table.
13:14 Hunter Henry was the best tight end.
13:15 They're not adding another running back and when they added, it's just fine.
13:19 It's more of a long term process there.
13:21 The fact that they need and know that they need to do that is separate from,
13:24 we're going to do this in three weeks.
13:25 And even if they did pay for everyone, you'd still go,
13:28 they don't really have a number one receiver, it's Calvin Ridley.
13:30 But it's a fair point because I brought up- >> I agree with you on the Ridley,
13:37 but there's still the fear that this group, like the previous group,
13:41 does not understand you have to pay probably above what,
13:45 I'm sure they set a price for everything.
13:46 We all in life set a price.
13:47 I want to spend this for a pair of sneakers.
13:50 You walk into the New Balance store, it's like, I like these a lot.
13:54 They're more expensive.
13:54 Well, sometimes you have to go above and beyond.
13:57 And I'm not sure this group so far has shown the willingness to do what
14:01 the Belichick group would, which is pay a premium for elite talent.
14:05 I know this topic comes up later on in the famous Andrew Gallihan rundown for
14:09 this show, so I don't want to go crazy on it.
14:11 But if you were fearful that Bill Belichick didn't respect elite offensive
14:14 talent, there is nothing to suggest this group in the first couple of weeks here,
14:18 first month or so, feels any differently as far as I can tell.
14:21 >> You know you're a dad of two when you're making a sneaker analogy and
14:27 the first store you think of is New Balance.
14:29 I'm just gonna leave that with you.
14:30 >> I'm a New Balance guy, I love New Balance.
14:33 You gotta put a pair of dads on, go mow the lawn with the old ones.
14:36 The new ones turn into the lawn mowing ones.
14:38 That's a good day.
14:40 That's a good day.
14:41 I know the big chunky white ones with the solid blue end in the middle await me in
14:45 my future 15, 20 years.
14:46 Just God help me that maybe it's a little bit longer than that.
14:50 Anyway, this has gone off the rails.
14:51 Let's wrap up here as far as the case that they do not know, right?
14:54 Again, they don't know the trade offers as you point out.
14:57 Maybe someone comes in in a couple of weeks.
14:59 It's a godfather offer from Minnesota.
15:01 It's not three first round picks, it's five, and
15:03 you can rent Justin Jefferson for half the season.
15:05 They need to gather more information.
15:07 Again, they'll be at Pro Days next week.
15:08 They will probably have these quarterbacks in for top 30 visits.
15:12 And there's going to be deliberation within the front office.
15:14 These are a lot of college scouts, college scouting directors,
15:18 Elliott Wolfe, obviously Alonzo Highsmith just entered the picture.
15:21 People are going to have differing opinions about who they like better.
15:24 You need to settle, not necessarily on a consensus, but get close to one.
15:28 The fact that they have so many voices in there and people watching tape for
15:30 two very, very good players, okay?
15:32 Liking one versus the other does not mean the other one's bad.
15:35 It's gonna take some time.
15:37 Here is the case, however, for the Patriots know, and
15:41 they're just dotting their I's and they're crossing their T's.
15:44 You ready? >> Okay, ready.
15:45 >> So let's start with the Mass Live report,
15:49 that they know they're going to take a quarterback at three,
15:52 which would indicate either, again, they like one or the other, or
15:54 they like both of them enough.
15:56 At which point, that is built upon at least two years of film study, two for
16:00 Drake May, many more for Jaden Daniels, who obviously developed and
16:03 took this giant leap into a quarterback over the last year.
16:07 >> Yeah, once he transferred, he became a different quarterback, yes.
16:10 >> Right, right, and even honestly, the second year at LSU,
16:13 very different from the first one.
16:14 You could talk about the environment, comfort in the system,
16:17 all that different stuff, but very, very different player.
16:19 The other part about this is how they built.
16:21 Jacoby Brissett is obviously not a long-term starter.
16:26 Obviously, he signed a one-year deal.
16:28 Any freakouts about him need to stop right now.
16:31 The situation around him, not built for rookie quarterback, but
16:34 it is a slow burn to what will be a long-term rebuild,
16:37 saying we're going to take a quarterback.
16:39 And between the two of them, when you look at the size that Drake May has,
16:43 the arm, the ability and willingness to extend plays, a la Jordan Love,
16:48 a la Aaron Rodgers, you wanna even go back to Brett Favre.
16:51 And don't forget Baker Mayfield, who was the most recent quarterback that
16:54 Elliott Wolfe, quote unquote, drafted outside of New England when he had
16:58 a leading voice in a front office.
16:59 He did not have a leading voice when Mack was selected.
17:02 All of these guys create plays, have bigger arms, and a kind of moxie to them.
17:07 Which you might shake your head at, and I would have once upon a time when you think
17:10 about what's important for a quarterback, old school guys like this value that stuff
17:15 a lot, and knowing that Drake May impressed him in the interviews,
17:18 I would bet, at least right now, he has the lead on Jaden Daniels,
17:22 given the history of the front office, given the way that they built so far,
17:26 the reporting that's been out there, that he's got a head start to be their next guy
17:29 if, of course, he's available in number three.
17:32 >> Yeah, it's fair.
17:33 And if that's the case, again, they're in a position where they better figure out
17:37 what Washington's going to do.
17:39 I think we both think they're gonna take a quarterback.
17:42 So their due diligence here on what the commanders are going to do is going to
17:47 put them in a position to be best equipped to either take the guy they wanna take,
17:51 if that's Drake May, he wouldn't be my favorite of the two, I get it.
17:54 If it's not gonna be him, my arguments just don't settle.
17:57 And here's the good thing about the commanders,
18:00 Adam Schefter is tied into them deeply, deeply, deeply.
18:03 We'll know, I think we'll have an idea through Schefter what they're going to do,
18:06 so the Patriots will certainly know if we know in the public what they're gonna do
18:10 it to.
18:10 >> Well, I would tell you if Bill was still around, he would know,
18:15 because he knows Schefter and the two of them have a longstanding relationship and
18:18 that would have been a big help.
18:20 Not to mention the Patriots claim, at least, that they knew Washington would
18:23 take Emmanuel Forbes, which gave them this great confidence to trade back and
18:27 take Christian Gonzalez, who you probably should have traded up for
18:30 instead of trading back.
18:31 Granted, they got them all together, good pick.
18:35 Supposedly, we'll see, great player.
18:37 Moving on, again, I just think at this point in the process,
18:40 there is more information to be gathered.
18:42 The ink is dry and all of the tape, the measurables, all of the scouting, and
18:46 that's not just looking at the tape, it's scouts going to campus, asking around.
18:50 Before last season started, the Patriots were very well aware they might take and
18:54 need to take a quarterback in 2024.
18:57 So this scouting of Drake May and
18:58 Jane Daniels might have started for the rest of us in the last couple of months.
19:02 The Patriots have been on this for more than a year.
19:04 It's a new era, not just for the Patriots, but for the Pats Interference Podcast,
19:09 brought to you now by PrizePix,
19:10 the largest daily fantasy sports platform in America.
19:14 I'm making player picks, watching the Celtics, points, rebounds, and
19:18 I get to test my skills like you can on PrizePix this season,
19:21 because it's the most exciting way to play daily fantasy sports.
19:24 If you have the skills, you can turn 10 bucks into 250 bucks with just a few taps.
19:29 And then here's the best part, quick withdrawals, easy gameplay,

19:36 which all make PrizePix the number one daily fantasy sports app, plus a review
19:40 policy, which means you get your money back in case of injury,
19:43 the only DFS platform to offer an insurance policy.
19:47 Again, PrizePix has been a ton of fun with the Celtics.
19:49 You can also go with the Bruins, any number of different sports, games,
19:53 players, plays, and options.
19:55 So right now, go to prizepix.com/clns and

20:11 PrizePix, pick more, pick less, it's that easy.
20:14 [MUSIC]
20:18 So you already gave this away, the next question,
20:20 which quarterback you want them to draft, you're fully on Jaden Daniels.
20:23 >> Yes, I'd be on Daniels, I like the transformation he made there at LSU,
20:27 I like the accuracy, I like the athleticism, I'm a fan of his.
20:32 And as much as I've sort of bought into the late reporting on Drake May,
20:37 May being hyped up and not really should be included in the top,
20:41 although it's a top one, Caleb's a top one.
20:44 He has the measurables that are close to Josh Allen, but
20:48 they're not quite at the Josh Allen level.
20:51 And I think he's benefited from being sort of compared to Josh Allen in a lot
20:54 of cases.
20:55 That being said, I wouldn't be worried about him because Mitch Trubisky sucked
20:59 out of North Carolina.
20:59 I've heard this terrible commentary.
21:01 >> Thank you. >> Because Drake May went to Chapel Hill
21:03 and Mitch Trubisky sucked, that somehow Drake May is gonna suck.
21:07 It's the dumbest argument ever.
21:08 If you don't wanna like him, that's fine.
21:10 It can't be because the school he went to has recently produced an overrated
21:14 quarterback.
21:14 That is stupid, we should move beyond that.
21:17 That being said, I want the kid from LSU, we'll see if he's there at three.
21:20 >> I'm so glad you said that cuz that came up, I wanna say, at BST last month.
21:25 And it was sparked by a Phil Perrin report that he had talked to an offensive
21:29 coordinator.
21:30 He said, Drake May is the next Mitch Trubisky.
21:32 And this came up and I said, this is what you just said, the dumbest comparison.
21:36 >> Comparison, my God.
21:37 >> Good looking white dude who played the same position at the same school and
21:41 thought, so this offensive coordinator doesn't know what he's talking about.
21:44 As if I could make that judgment on anyone who has one take and
21:48 you just wanna render them a moron.
21:50 Like I would be a moron a billion times over with all the bad takes that I've had
21:54 over the years, not to mention I don't know the identity of this person.
21:57 What I will say though, is that that is a flawed process.
22:00 And the same thing you go for CJ Stroud, should have been a flop because
22:04 Justin Fields hasn't panned out or Dwayne Haskins, RIP, or
22:07 any number of Ohio State quarterbacks, Braxton Miller, you keep going on and on.
22:11 Well, they didn't pan out, why wouldn't this guy?
22:13 Well, they're all different human beings and
22:15 the NFL is a different game to each of them than it was in college.
22:18 Moving on, I am curious though, you mentioned Matt Miller.
22:21 We all have our voices that we trust.
22:23 Sometimes we're spending more time on YouTube or with Game Film or
22:25 with stats or PFF.
22:27 We've never had more information, whether someone else's takes or
22:30 the hard data that's out there.
22:32 It's all very subjective process.
22:34 Where do you like to go to form your opinions?
22:36 Because I think we all echo things that we hear or trust, but
22:41 I'm interested in the process where you land on.
22:44 I think this information is good.
22:45 I think this person is good and that's good enough for me.
22:47 >> I don't know, is there really a guy who's nailed the quarterbacks?
22:52 I'd have to go back and think about it.
22:54 I think- >> Well, they're not in the NFL,
22:55 I can tell you that.
22:56 Because everyone will tell you, inexact science, it's subjective.
23:00 There's no consistent history of doing this.
23:03 It's very difficult, not to mention it's reliant on environment and
23:06 all those things, but continue.
23:08 I think Matt Miller, NFL Draft Scout, who's launched his own,
23:11 had his own publication, is now doing some ESPN stuff.
23:14 As someone I look at, Lance Zerline, based out of Houston, NFL Network.
23:20 If you go back and look at his quarterback analysis and his draft analysis,
23:24 I think maybe he knows someone in Houston, but he's sort of nailed.
23:28 Like the Stroud thing last year, when everyone says Bryce Young,
23:30 I think he really had that.
23:32 So he's someone around draft time that I look at.
23:35 So those two sort of stand out to me, but again, I'm consuming it all.
23:40 I'm just an idiot.
23:41 I want all the information I can, like, wow,
23:43 Caleb Williams threw a football far, I'm watching that.
23:47 Because your team is invested in quarterback, I'm watching all of that.
23:52 But those would be two names that stand out as guys who, this time of year,
23:56 I feel like they have a good sense and good projection of what's gonna happen.
24:01 >> Gotcha, I have my guys, but look, in this position over time-
24:04 >> Well, say your guys then, hold on.
24:06 >> Well, no, here's the thing, because I do my best to steer clear of full on
24:10 scouting reports or draft guides until I've made my own assessments.
24:14 I don't want them to introduce some sort of bias or leaning to my own work,
24:18 same as when I'm doing film breakdowns.
24:20 Like I will sit here at the same stupid desk for ten hours and get up and
24:23 walk around, get a drink and come back and
24:26 then publish it on Monday nights during the season before I go read anybody else's.
24:30 And then I will probably curse because someone else had something else that I
24:33 didn't have, but that's just how the job works when you're working in an incredibly
24:36 competitive field with a lot of smart people.
24:38 And as far as the draft goes, a lot of them are gonna be smarter than me, but
24:41 I will have my definitive takes and analysis on Drake, May and
24:44 Jane Daniels when I finished all of the film study.
24:47 And then, might be swayed here or there, but
24:50 we'll also have some draft experts on this podcast coming up.
24:52 I will say, the folks at the top, Daniel Jeremiah's opinion,
24:58 I think should hold a lot of weight with a lot of people.
25:00 And that's an obvious take, but he's someone who's, I will say mock drafts or
25:04 top 50, I peek at and try to limit it as best I can to that.
25:09 Okay, I wanna get to the Dynasty real quick and
25:12 then we're gonna get to all the mailbag questions here, running them down.
25:15 You wrote about this last week after the release of episode nine and ten.
25:18 I have expressed that I think the most common sentiment,
25:21 which is this is a Belichick hit piece, is not nuanced enough for what it really is.
25:25 But you have spent a lot more time writing about this and
25:29 thinking about it, so why don't you go ahead from here?
25:32 >> And I wanna forget real quick, Greg Cosell, ESPN NFL matchup show,
25:36 when he does the film stuff on Quarterbacks, also really good.
25:39 And Darius Butler from a UConn product for Patriot.
25:41 >> There is a UConn talk.
25:43 What do we give ourselves, like 24 minutes?
25:44 We waited.
25:46 >> I have thoughts on this Auburn matchup on the Sweet 16.
25:50 Yeah, I watched all ten, I wrote about all ten,
25:54 I've consumed the reaction to all ten.
25:57 And I'm actually gonna write about it again on Friday.
25:59 I thought I was done writing about it, Callie, I gotta be honest.
26:02 I'm not done writing about it cuz I have leftover thoughts about the series in
26:06 general and the way it ended, the reaction to it.
26:10 And I will tease this for Friday's Four Pack.
26:12 You said conspiracy theorist earlier.
26:15 I've been workshopping a kind of ridiculous conspiracy theory that I'm
26:19 gonna lay out tomorrow.
26:21 It probably means nothing.
26:22 It's probably the dumbest thing I've ever written.
26:24 It'll be in muttstack.com Friday Four Pack tomorrow.
26:27 Ties in a Belichick and this thing and the timeline of when we found out about
26:32 this and when the reports of Belichick not coming back all sort of came together.
26:37 I'm gonna try to piece it together tomorrow at muttstack.com on Friday.
26:43 >> I'm so excited.
26:43 The dumbest thing you've ever written.
26:44 I want it now.
26:45 I want you to read it aloud.
26:46 I want to do an audio version to listen on my way to pick up my wife at work later
26:51 today.
26:51 So stupid that I didn't even text you about it cuz I want you to read
26:55 the stupidity and it probably means nothing but I'm obsessed with this idea.
27:00 I had somebody who's worked on the Patriots beat text me a question that led
27:05 me down this stupid road.
27:07 That's for tomorrow.
27:07 It was a Belichick hit piece in the sense that it was so
27:14 pro-craft, it just made Belichick look very poorly.
27:18 And I think Bill's insistence not to take part in it hurt this entire thing.
27:23 This is something I'm gonna write about on Friday.
27:25 Maybe Bill sniffed out that this was a bad time for this.
27:29 He saw the sort of writing on the wall of how it was gonna play out.
27:31 Maybe he had issues with the way the film was being made.
27:33 It wasn't NFL films.
27:34 We know Bill is a big NFL films guy.
27:37 This is Matt Hamachick, director to the Tiger documentary.
27:40 This is not NFL films.
27:41 But Bill not being more playful on camera hurt the thing.
27:45 And Kraft being so open about his feeling, Bob Kraft in particular,
27:49 being so open to his feelings on Bill without Bill responding,
27:53 just made it feel very, very one-sided.
27:55 And I went into this, admittedly, as someone who read The Dynasty by
27:59 Jeff Benedict and first finished the book and texted a friend and said,
28:03 this feels like it was written by the Krafts.
28:05 Like it was very pro-Kraft, even that book was.
28:08 So I came into the documentary wanting to be the same.
28:10 I thought it was.
28:11 I thought Bill, if he's more involved, it probably would have helped it out more.
28:15 But at the end of the day,
28:16 the biggest thing is that they just made this thing way too early.
28:21 Like it sat with me for a couple of days now.
28:23 Like did they have to do this now?
28:26 Did they have to do, was it really to help Robert Kraft get in the Hall of Fame?
28:30 Was it because of his, I don't know.
28:33 But this should have been five or ten years down the road.
28:35 Players on the team last summer that were gonna be back for
28:38 this year should not have been interviewed about this.
28:41 It didn't make sense for the entire process.
28:44 It felt rushed, the timing felt weird.
28:46 And as a viewer, Bill Belichick comes across minimized.
28:50 And I think Robert Kraft is propped up by what is reported and
28:53 what's not reported.
28:54 To not include in episode nine and ten, the Brady contract stuff is embarrassing.
28:58 Like you're either not doing your homework or
29:01 you're trying to spin the story a certain way.
29:04 I'm rambling because I've become obsessed with this thing.
29:06 I apologize.
29:07 But if you're a Patriot fan and didn't like it, I totally understand.
29:11 I totally get it.
29:13 >> You and I land in the same place, I think overall, giving it a C plus,
29:17 I think you wrote, and I've said elsewhere.
29:19 And that's because, one, I could not make a better documentary.
29:24 It's easy to go in and criticize this strictly as a viewer.
29:27 But as someone who's in the media and documented the history and
29:30 real time starting in 2018.
29:32 >> Stop, stop, we're not gonna do this thing.
29:34 Radio hosts that you say, I can't question Bill Belichick in football.
29:37 Yes, you can.
29:38 If you're not gonna include Rodney Harrison at all in this thing,
29:41 I can question your filmmaking.
29:42 But go ahead.
29:43 >> The point is the balance of stories that have been advanced as far as they can,
29:49 which was their reason/excuse for not including more in Super Bowls 38 and 39.
29:54 It's fair given how dense this is.
29:56 And a lot of people have made the point of, who is this for?
30:00 My bottom line is this.
30:01 I was bummed because I was obviously excited to relive parts of my childhood,
30:06 upbringing, and share this with my wife as a way to say, hey,
30:09 this is pretty much why I do what I do.
30:12 My love of football, all of the greatest stories that I've ever witnessed in
30:15 sports are going to be here in 10 parts.
30:17 We'll watch this together.
30:18 And the first couple were great, and things went downhill from here.
30:21 And the pro craft flavor is absolutely baked in to all parts of this.
30:27 The point you make about Bill being an unwilling participant,
30:30 though he did sit supposedly for three, three and a half hours,
30:33 means he contributes to the bottom of what this kind of craft propaganda is at
30:37 the bottom.
30:38 He is partially responsible for this, and I've said it before.
30:41 The doom part of his personality, which he got that nickname in the 80s before he
30:45 got to New England, before he became the Patriots head coach,
30:47 was inseparable from the genius.
30:49 This is who he is, right around the building, walking around just as a human
30:53 being, but he could have turned it on here and did not.
30:56 That made it suffer.
30:57 I think the obvious slant, again, some of Kraft's comments about raising why
31:01 Malcolm Butler was banished, I heard it was a personal issue.
31:03 Well, what was it?
31:05 Say it.
31:05 You can't stop there.
31:08 It was altogether disappointing, in addition to eliminating certain parts.
31:12 Where again, it's a difficult time to encapsulate, and that's all I'm saying.
31:18 I'm not saying they're unable to be criticized, or
31:21 that would be unfair to them.
31:22 Absolutely, it would.
31:24 But whole episodes dedicated to Spygate and Deflategate and Aaron Hernandez, and
31:29 then basically Malcolm Butler, there wasn't enough football in there.
31:32 There wasn't enough connective tissue within the storytelling.
31:34 Aside from the stuff they obviously wanted to thread through all these
31:37 episodes, Belichick breaking it at the end, his bad relationship with Brady, and
31:42 Kraft just trying to keep it together as best he could.
31:46 Just trying to keep it together.
31:48 And that was the clear intent, and that was a bummer.
31:51 And I will say, to your point, the argument that I heard Hamachek make on
31:55 the Greg Hill show on WEI, that they exhausted the football's been the three
32:00 games to glory, yet so is Spygate, and you spent an entire episode on that.
32:04 >> Yes. >> And that's been exhausted.
32:05 You wanted to cover certain topics, and I know you don't know Belichick,
32:10 but you've covered him enough, where you're better equipped to answer this than I am.
32:15 Is he going to respond?
32:16 Do we ever get a Belichick rebuttal- >> No.
32:19 >> Via himself, a book, media member, to push back against this?
32:23 Or was the Ernie Adams inclusion,
32:25 was that Bill's pushback against Kraft in this whole thing?
32:29 >> I would bet a large amount of money, an irresponsible amount of money,
32:34 he will have a book one day.
32:36 >> I like that.
32:37 >> Okay, that's going to come.
32:39 The history matters to him, but I think you're right.
32:42 He sniffed out what this was going to be, the intention of it.
32:45 However deep the Kraft's hands were in this, they were in and around it.
32:50 They were going to have more control and say, and
32:52 more fingerprints than Bill ever would.
32:54 So he sat, he participated, but did basically a bare minimum.
32:58 It's like he just condensed all of his press conferences into one sit down with
33:02 the documentarian.
33:03 But Bill will not have the dynasty in context report, right?
33:10 >> [LAUGH] >> That's just not,
33:11 that's not going to happen.
33:12 Because his default, whenever things would come up, and
33:15 it's with people in the team, was just don't react, don't give it any power.
33:20 Don't do anything, let it wash away, because people will forget.
33:23 And honestly, the longer this has gone on, he has looked better and
33:27 better because of how common, again, the take has been that this has been a Bill
33:31 hit piece.
33:32 I will not go as far to say hit piece, because he is partially responsible for
33:35 his own, he is fully responsible for his own behavior and words in this.
33:38 Granted, he didn't have the editorial control, which Devin McCourty and
33:42 Rodney Harrison rightfully complained about.
33:43 Hey, I sat down for five plus hours and all you get me is saying, f him, f him,
33:47 f him, if you're Rodney Harrison.
33:48 Or Devin's only contribution is really slamming Bill for the Trump letter.
33:54 He'll have a book, he won't specifically respond to this.
33:57 And again, C plus, I was bummed, I'm moving on.
34:02 >> Good.
34:03 >> Okay, speaking of moving on, let's do the mailbag.
34:06 Five questions here, and then we're gonna do our separate segment.
34:09 It's YouTube exclusive.
34:10 You wanna hear mutt on what's next in Boston sports media, or the landscape, or
34:13 some whispers and nuggets, which are always in the mud stack.
34:16 Go to our 15 off the field segment,
34:18 which again is only on YouTube and separate from this episode.
34:22 Question number one, Liam says, the focus in the draft will be quarterback,
34:26 offensive tackle, receiver, hopefully.
34:28 Any remaining free agents though that you would like to see the Patriots sign to
34:31 fill out the roster elsewhere?
34:33 >> Can I include trades in this or is that a trade-off?
34:38 >> Sure, I mean, it's not a free agent, but I've got a couple names, so go ahead.
34:42 >> Well, I guess let's look at the same team.
34:43 If the Bengals are going to trade Tee Higgins, the Patriots should be involved.
34:48 He is a borderline one-one-A receiver, big outside receiver.
34:52 They weren't on Mike Williams.
34:55 They weren't in the Keenan Allen trade, which again,
34:58 the reporting on that, I find to believe is crazy.
35:00 They talked to the chargers the day before, didn't ask about Keenan Allen.
35:03 Even to help along for a year, you're shaking your head.
35:06 It didn't happen that way?
35:07 >> No, they checked in on all of their obvious trade candidates, and
35:12 those conversations happened.
35:13 And Doug Kives had the reporting on that, and
35:16 that stands as it was initially reported.
35:18 >> Gotcha, what about Tyler Boyd in Cincinnati?
35:21 So he's a free agent, he's the third guy there.
35:23 I don't know if he's the number one, and
35:24 maybe we're just collecting second and third receivers.
35:28 But when they've had injuries there, where the Chamar Chase has gone down,
35:31 Tee Higgins has gone down, Boyd has stepped in that void and
35:34 been a pretty good receiver there.
35:36 And he's better than KJ Osborne, he's not gonna cost a lot of money.
35:40 So I'm a bit incensed the wide receiver position, because they need to be in
35:44 a position to set up their quarterback.
35:47 Say they take quarterback at three, we think it's gonna happen,
35:50 set them up for success.
35:51 Demario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, KJ Osborne, Hunter Henry,
35:55 they don't do that.
35:57 They're still short that top end talent, even as a group.
36:01 They're underwhelming, maybe the worst receiving group in the AFC East still,
36:04 with the additions they've made.
36:06 I want a receiver, trade for Tee Higgins, sign Tyler Boyd.
36:10 Those two guys stand out to me.
36:11 I'm not sure other names that might be available in and
36:14 around the draft time to be traded.
36:16 I'd be signing a wide receiver or trading pool.
36:18 >> Poor Liam, Liam wanted to know about every other position except for
36:23 quarterback, receiver, offense, tackle.
36:25 >> No, no, no, I'm sorry, Liam, I'm obsessed, you should be too.
36:30 You watch the NFL, it's about offense now, it's about high end talent,
36:35 wide receivers, mobile quarterbacks, high flying.
36:38 It's not like June Jones run and shoot, but the offense is king now.
36:42 I don't care about anything else.
36:43 Just feed me offense, spoon feed me like applesauce when you're sick as a kid,
36:47 put the medicine in and feed me the offense.
36:50 That's all I care about, that's all she care about.
36:52 Offensive line, nobody cares.
36:53 Defense, nobody cares.
36:55 Special teams, there's a special teams question on this list I saw.
36:58 I don't care, I care about offense, give me a receiver, next question.
37:02 >> So you're happy with the Patriots free agency so far as what you-
37:04 >> No, no, it's the same as always.
37:07 It's, they're 4 and 13 and they're bending over backwards to bring
37:11 back players from a 4 and 13 team.
37:14 No, I don't like, how can you like what they've done so far?
37:17 >> All right, I'm teasing.
37:18 I need to give Liam an answer though.
37:19 And he cited, for example, Justin Simmons, 30 year old safety,
37:23 leads the league in interceptions, I think it's since 2016.
37:26 I like Justin Simmons, I think that would be a fine signing.
37:29 I think he is someone though who's gonna want a naturally top dollar,
37:32 given his production and his resume.
37:34 He'll probably wanna go to a winning team, given his age.
37:36 And so that's gonna be a hard sell.
37:38 Now, I do think the Patriots need a free safety who can work single high,
37:42 where you don't want Jabril Peppers living or
37:44 Kyle Duggar setting up camp for an entire game.
37:46 That said, Levi Wallace, I like he's a backup corner,
37:50 someone who has been around the league.
37:51 They're familiar with a little bit more of his own player.
37:54 Charles Leno Jr. though is number one on my list.
37:56 I guess, I get that I just broke the rule again.
37:59 Liam doesn't wanna talk about offensive tackles.
38:01 You need more depth there.
38:02 You cannot go in with Takuma Okorafor, Mike Nguyen, and
38:08 your fingers crossed Calvin Anderson, Vardarian Lowe, all that.
38:11 In addition to probably late first or early second round pick.
38:14 I just think that's good enough.
38:15 It's not, they need to be better.
38:17 And if they fail to improve that position, going into training camp,
38:21 it's exactly that, it's a failure.
38:24 Next question, similar.
38:26 Sal wants to know, quote, after missing out on their big needs, tackle, receiver,
38:30 and free agency, and no more real options, how about a best player available approach
38:34 to make use of the remaining 15 or 51, not 15 million dollars in cap space?
38:39 Seems like the best for agents left are corner and safety, and
38:42 those are certain secondary needs, no pun intended.
38:45 >> Again, I default to Bermuda wide receiver.
38:50 You get, I don't, is it a high price wide receiver?
38:55 I mean, Braxton Berrios was an all pro pump returner kick returner last year.
38:58 I think he's still available in Miami.
39:00 He'd be at top of my list.
39:01 He's the one that got away.
39:02 >> He just went back.
39:03 >> Well, there you go.
39:04 So cross, let me take this because it's defense.
39:06 You're on the record.
39:07 Don't care. We're moving on.
39:08 We'll keep it quick.
39:09 I mentioned Levi Wallace.
39:10 A lot of folks are gonna bring up Stefan Gilmore.
39:12 He turns 34 in September.
39:14 If the Patriots wanna run a man to man operation here, I think he's only got 12
39:20 to 15, maybe 20 snaps a game in him left in that capacity.
39:25 Obviously, they can play zone, and he's a smart player.
39:27 And he's been building over the last five years a borderline Hall of Fame place.
39:31 I don't think he's going to get there.
39:33 I just think his timeline does not fit here.
39:36 His style of play is just passage prime in that capacity.
39:39 >> You want him next year.
39:40 We both agree this is sort of a transition year for the team.
39:43 They're not really winning.
39:44 >> Well, and they're gonna play young players.
39:46 >> I ask the argument here to bring Christian Gonzalez along and
39:49 show him how a future Hall of Famer works.
39:52 But I don't know.
39:53 Again, wide receiver, please.
39:55 >> Julian Blackman is another name, top of the market, top of the market,
40:00 week two of for agency, safety, been with the Colts.
40:03 He pivoted to being more of a box player over the slot last year, but
40:07 in his first three years in the league, had played more free safety.
40:10 He timed 446 at the combine.
40:12 So again, I don't think that Ross beat is there one misstep and
40:15 you're in trouble as a single high free safety.
40:18 But if you wanna talk about corners, safety is a watch,
40:22 he's got a deserve mention.
40:23 And so yeah, I like it.
40:25 Again, I just I would keep in mind, they're going to play the young players.
40:28 They told us that that's the philosophy, the packer way, all that.
40:32 >> Okay, this is up your alley.
40:34 Adam quote, thought somewhat dove climbing tweeted today about the Patriots
40:38 doing trade for help specifically, your boy T Higgins and Brandon.
40:43 >> Yes, yes and yes, elite offensive talent.
40:48 Now was that who did dove take that tweet from?
40:50 That's the question.
40:51 >> That is a that well, let's stop there because my understanding.
40:55 I've checked this once probably should have doubled back but
40:57 the only fresh quote unquote reporting and this is to dismiss Adam Kaplan,
41:01 who's had a very long, strong career much longer than I have and
41:05 then a lot more reporting that I have around the NFL.
41:07 But for pro football network said, a source told him that the Patriots have
41:11 an obvious need a receiver and they've been looking at top options there.
41:14 Possibly on the trade market.
41:15 A lot of heavy lifting right there, right?
41:19 Yeah, I think the Bengals are gonna keep T Higgins because that's what the
41:21 franchise tag is for.
41:23 Brandon I would be surprised if the Niners want to trade him.
41:26 But if it's a late first round value, or a second and something else,
41:31 I mean, they'd have a lot of competitors first services.
41:35 I would just again take into context.
41:38 It's not a reporter putting that out and it's a report that's.
41:44 >> Yeah, and they're all it's a report from an account that just sort of
41:48 repurpose other people's reports.
41:50 So I'm all for it.
41:51 >> Which is in and of itself kind of an observation, right?
41:55 The Patriots.
41:55 >> Yeah, that's like me.
41:57 So who is that?
41:58 Who is Craig who asked the question?
41:59 Or is it Craig?
42:00 >> Adam.
42:01 >> Adam, it's any elite offensive talent available.
42:05 And I've heard the Justin Jefferson thing.
42:07 I believe just correct me if I'm wrong Callahan.
42:10 He's only got one year left.
42:11 He called like a half year rental for him.
42:13 Obviously he's the top end talent.
42:15 If you could trade for Justin Jefferson.
42:17 You could trade for him and know that he wanted to be here with your quarterback
42:21 at three and he's committed to being here.
42:23 And I mean, in a second, that's what they are lacking, comically lacking.
42:30 So I am all for all this trade.
42:31 I would deal draft picks.
42:34 I would clear cap space, whatever you have to do to get that blue chip elite
42:38 offensive talent.
42:38 I don't believe you can get by with running the football and
42:41 throwing it to Antonio Gibson out of the backfield.
42:43 So yes, bring me all your elite offensive talent.
42:46 >> Would you give up a UConn Huskies first round loss to a 16 seed to make
42:51 that happen?
42:54 >> For Justin Jefferson?
42:55 >> Yeah.
42:56 Eternal shame.
42:58 >> No, I would take a final four loss to Arizona in Phoenix.
43:01 >> Come on, final four loss is a great season.
43:03 >> I don't blame it, it's Arizona in their backyard.
43:05 I'd like to be at the final, so no, I would not do it for first round.
43:09 I'm not gonna lose to, no, no thank you.
43:12 >> I bet you do it for sweet 16 though.
43:14 >> No, no, I wanna see him get to the final.
43:16 I want Hurley at the final four yapping at people.
43:18 That's what I want. >> Good man, good Husky.
43:20 Okay, you're gonna love this question, which is a good one.
43:23 I wanna say on the record, but just not interesting to you.
43:27 All teams will be required to take an international pathway player in 2025.
43:31 This is from Dave.
43:32 Should the Patriots just get ahead of this and sign an international pathway
43:37 kicker in 2024 to compete with Chad Ryland and or
43:40 add to their practice squad for depth?
43:43 Dave, I would say Chad Ryland should have some competition, absolutely,
43:47 in training camp, whether or not they come from Ireland,
43:49 which has this new surge of specialists.
43:52 I don't know if they're competing with Australia, the land of kangaroos and
43:57 hunters who like to take a small jaunt before they boot the ball and
44:00 have it spin in ways that apparently are only possible south of the border.
44:04 But yeah, sure, I would say get ahead of it.
44:07 Jakob Johnson obviously was a big success story for
44:09 them coming as the last player in the roster in 2019.
44:13 Then taking over for James Devlin midway through that season,
44:16 got hurt himself that year but hung around, went to Vegas and got a second contract.
44:19 So yeah, I would say why not?
44:21 If you're going into the program, find a guy who plays a position of need.
44:27 >> Well, you said it all right there.
44:28 What can I add to international kicker talk here on the Callahan podcast?
44:32 >> What country would you want this player to come from?
44:36 You got to pick that.
44:37 >> Well, doesn't Australia, like you said,
44:43 have the history of rugby kickers who come over here?
44:46 >> Yeah, give me something new.
44:47 I would say I want Sebastian Vollmer came from Germany.
44:51 >> Germany, yeah.
44:52 >> Germany only played a few seasons at Houston.
44:54 They take him in the second round of whatever that draft was.
44:57 Everyone's going, what the hell are the Patriots doing?
44:59 Are they that bored with winning?
45:01 They're just gonna pull these German nationals and throw them a right tackle.
45:05 Of course, it works.
45:06 I want a big, burly offensive lineman from somewhere in the Baltics.
45:11 I get that that's not in and around Germany, just somewhere around there.
45:15 Like he could also have a different career path as a part of World's Strongest Man.
45:20 Pluck one of those guys, sign them.
45:22 You need the help at offensive line.
45:23 I just made the case, if it's a position of need,
45:25 you might as well sign them from there.
45:27 There's a guy waiting up there who could bench 800 pounds.
45:30 Sign him.
45:32 >> Yeah, growing up before the Internet, and you kids listening and
45:35 watching don't know this, but you had to watch sports on TV.
45:38 And sometimes you just watched them because they were on.
45:40 They had World's Strongest Man on there.
45:42 So if you're telling me there's a Magnus von Magnus, who's that big and jacked,
45:46 I'm all for it.
45:47 But other than that, I'm allowed to say it now, I don't care.
45:50 I don't care.
45:51 >> Okay, you're gonna like this one.
45:53 Last question, and then we'll get you out of here before again,
45:55 we do the 15 off the field segment.
45:56 Boston Sports Media Talk, YouTube exclusive.
46:00 And Carlos is coming up here on the podcast, YouTube and
46:03 on any audio streams wherever you find your podcast.
46:05 This is from Kurt.
46:07 Kurt wants to know, if this season is not going to be super competitive, and
46:10 I have to watch more Jacoby Percet than I prefer, dot, dot, dot.
46:15 But Andrew, any good new beer suggestions or
46:18 breweries to help me along the way?
46:22 >> It's not necessarily new, but I live in the Chelmsford, Lowell, Tingsboro area.
46:28 In the last year or so, they've created, you can make a day out of this.
46:33 So these are all three local places, and I'm gonna add in a bonus pizza place.
46:39 I'm gonna tie this all together.
46:40 But just off route three now, you can start at Joni's Pizza,
46:43 which Dave Portnoy famously graded nine something.
46:46 And it's got the best pizza in the area, okay?
46:48 And then from there, Navigation Brewing, downtown Chelmsford, just open.
46:53 Beautiful new downtown spot.
46:55 Chelmsford as a downtown needs to be refurbished anyway, but
46:58 Navigation Downtown.
46:59 Then right up the road, route four, is a small place called Monast Roots.
47:02 New place just moved from Tingsboro, like North Chelmsford, Tingsboro area.
47:06 And then you can cap it off with Epigram,
47:08 which is right near the Pheasant Lane Mall.
47:10 So went from having zero breweries in this middle sex area,
47:13 to having three in the span of a year, plus an amazing pizza place.
47:16 You can make a day out of it.
47:18 That's what I'd suggest.
47:19 Put the wife and kids in the car, say we're going for a ride.
47:22 There you go.
47:22 The little middle sex brewery tour you can do yourself.
47:25 >> That was by far your best answer of any question to the man.
47:30 >> [LAUGH] >> For the end,
47:33 it had nothing to do with football or the Patriots.
47:36 God love you.
47:36 I have two.
47:38 One, you will always hear me say this.
47:39 They've been great to me, and they have tremendous beer.
47:42 And they get very creative with the chances they wanna take and try.
47:46 They've been incredibly successful.
47:47 They have a new brick and mortar out in Plymouth, Vitamin C, Vitamin S, E, A.
47:51 Get down to Vitamin C if you ever have a time of the minute, or
47:55 wanna come to what will be a pre-draft event coming up next month.
47:58 >> Nice.
47:59 >> Yes, the second one I would suggest, and I've actually never been there.
48:03 But in going to Portland, this was actually 2020, for
48:08 a weekend with my now wife, bounced around a bunch of breweries.
48:12 Liked a lot, didn't really fall in love.
48:14 And the last stop we went was a, I wanna say a beer store that had a small bar
48:18 inside, and you got to pick, obviously.
48:21 So I was like, okay, I'll have something I haven't had before.
48:24 Epiphany by Foundation is a main IPA.
48:28 It is delicious.
48:29 So if you ever have a chance and you like IPAs, again,
48:31 we're a couple months away from that.
48:33 Pick up an Epiphany by Foundation, or go visit them in Portland.
48:37 Because that is still one of the tastiest beers I've ever had, second to Vitamin C
48:41 and some stuff from Trillium where you can find me here and there around the city.
48:46 But that's what we got.
48:48 All right. >> I tried to give the reader something
48:51 different, and you gave them Portland,
48:53 which is the greatest beer city in the country, so.
48:56 >> I gave them Weymouth, now Plymouth.
48:58 Yes, Portland.
49:00 And where else is Trillium?
49:03 Yeah, Trillium's about around Cannon.
49:04 >> There, yes, they are.
49:06 >> Yeah, okay.
49:08 All right, he is Mike Mudansky.
