00:18 I was volunteering with a rescue, and they needed somebody willing to take on a medical foster.
00:23 She was very, very sick. She had sores all down her throat and her mouth.
00:27 So she couldn't eat or drink.
00:28 I got her a feeding tube and antibiotics.
00:30 I was so scared, but she wanted to be here.
00:32 She was in her perfect home.

00:36 She only likes me. She doesn't have any interest in anybody else.

00:42 I have a 7-year-old, and she can't touch her either.

00:45 It really felt overwhelming after my daughter was born.

00:49 Isabel was so jealous and wanted so much attention from me.

00:55 I was nursing a baby, and she would still try to sit on my lap.
00:58 She never attacked her. She would glare at her.

01:03 She was so jealous that I had to buy two of some baby items, like the little bouncy seats.

01:16 We went to the vet, and they said, "It's pancreatitis, and it's really bad."
01:19 And Isabel, "What can bring that on?" And the vet said, "Stress."
01:22 I cried all the way home because I thought, "What am I doing? I've got this cat that's so attached to me."
01:26 She's made herself sick over me having a baby.
01:29 Dinner.
01:29 And I'm so afraid to have her around my baby because I'm worried she's going to scratch her.

01:35 But I just thought, "You know what? I love this cat. She's my first baby,
01:38 and we're going to have to work through this."

01:41 And I just started making the efforts when my daughter was napping to spend time with her,

01:51 I started putting on TV for her so she could watch birds and squirrels.
01:54 Just really making the effort to spend more time with her, even when I was exhausted.

02:10 And I don't know what she wants, but she wants me to get up.

02:18 And I said, "Isabel, it's 4 a.m. We are not going for a stroller ride. Go to bed."

02:23 I've never had a cat that has been that attached.

02:27 She follows me around like a dog.

02:32 She struggles with the stairs sometimes.
02:33 So she will sit at the top of the stairs.
02:35 When I'm downstairs, and she will meow for me to come get her and bring her downstairs.

02:41 She's affectionate with me.
02:43 And she's smart enough that she knows if I'm sick, she will cuddle with me in bed.
02:47 She's not demanding.
02:48 It's like she knows.
02:50 I always say there's no me without her.
02:51 I have not taken a vacation longer than two nights in seven years.
02:56 Because I'm afraid to leave her.
02:58 Being away from her, I'm constantly thinking, "Is she okay?"
