Guy's heartwarming gesture for dumped dog
Transcript
00:00 I actually ran across Daisy on the side of the road here in Winston-Salem.
00:05 Her and another dog were just kind of laying there.
00:08 I pulled over and patiently waited with them to get comfortable with me.
00:12 Oh, you're so pretty.
00:14 And then had my partner bring me some food and water
00:17 and ultimately got them to where they were comfortable around us.
00:20 Can you say hello?
00:23 Good girl.
00:25 The road itself was a very busy road.
00:27 If you could visit the place where we found her,
00:30 you would wonder how she managed to stay alive.
00:32 Oh my goodness.
00:34 We did have someone reach out to us via Facebook who said they saw
00:37 Daisy and the other dog she was with get dumped.
00:40 We have no way to verify whether that was actually the case
00:42 or if something else was at play.
00:45 When I was like ready to try and get them into my Jeep,
00:49 I opened the door and Daisy went and jumped right on in.
00:52 Like that's where she was supposed to be.
00:53 We got them both home.
00:54 They were covered in fleas.
00:56 So the first thing we had to do was give them a flea treatment
00:59 and we got them checked out at our vet.
01:01 No microchip.
01:02 We posted through the local shelters and no one stepped up to clean them.
01:05 The person who reached out and said they saw the physical dumping take place,
01:10 she had actually been out for almost two weeks.
01:13 And so you could tell that it was starting to take its toll.
01:16 You could kind of see Daisy's ribs.
01:18 We started working with a local rescue called ARF
01:20 and they agreed to take both of them with us continuing to be their foster parents.
01:25 The other dog, once he got groomed,
01:28 he probably wasn't even up for adoption for two weeks before he found his forever family.
01:32 Day six of doing the affirmations with Daisy.
01:39 But today's a special day because she is going to an adoption fair.
01:42 It was clear that someone took some time to train her in the past,
01:46 which makes the story more sad as well.
01:48 She likes to be with you in a very calm and soft way.
01:52 Say I am full of hope.
01:53 The one thing with her personality is that she's just not a fan of other dogs.
01:58 The only time we've seen her kind of get scared and shaky is when she sees another dog.
02:03 She starts to have kind of a negative reaction in that way.
02:06 Say I have love to give.
02:07 People always said, "Go, are you going to foster Fel?"
02:10 If she got along with our other dogs, it would be a no-brainer for us.
02:13 Daisy actually had a couple overnight stays, but she did not do well with cats either.
02:18 So therefore, it just did not work out.

02:22 It will definitely be hard.
02:28 I will miss her, but I also know that she deserves so much in this world.
02:33 Her family will spoil her, give her all the cuddles and all the treats,
02:37 and I know that she will be very happy.
