00:00:00 And we are back with another episode of How 'Bout Them Celtics.
00:00:13 Sam and I are here recording on Saturday, May 18th in between series for the Boston
00:00:18 Celtics.
00:00:19 Nick Spacers has gone seven games.
00:00:20 We're going to talk about that series.
00:00:22 Plenty of updates, plenty of other stuff going on.
00:00:25 If you're watching on YouTube, Sam looks like Luke Skywalker with the hood on.
00:00:29 So Sam, how are you doing?
00:00:30 How are you feeling?
00:00:31 I'm feeling less than 100 percent, to say the least.
00:00:35 Little sick, little achy today, but we're here no matter what.
00:00:39 That's how this show goes.
00:00:42 The robe is nice to put on every once in a while.
00:00:44 Who doesn't love a nice robe day?
00:00:46 Nice lazy, rainy Saturday to be inside anyways.
00:00:51 And plus we got some fantastic news last night, I guess on multiple fronts.
00:00:56 We did?
00:00:57 Yeah.
00:00:58 We got Christoph's update.
00:01:01 Nick's lose.
00:01:02 I don't know if that would be fantastic.
00:01:03 Oh, I guess if he's out for the season, that's for sure.
00:01:08 That's true.
00:01:09 Anyways, plenty of stuff to discuss.
00:01:12 And we will start with Christoph's presing this update that Sam just alluded to.
00:01:17 Adrian was your nasty of ESPN reporting that Porzingis is going to miss games one and two
00:01:22 more than likely not going to be playing in the first two games of the Celtics Eastern
00:01:27 Conference Final Series with an opponent to be named later.
00:01:30 However, there is optimism that he could return at some point during the series.
00:01:34 So that part is positive.
00:01:36 The first part is is not as great, but I'm kind of OK with it based on the way the Eastern
00:01:43 Conference Finals are shaping up.
00:01:44 You want to be 100 percent healthy.
00:01:46 This is a very important update, and it sounds like they're working to get Christoph's back
00:01:49 at 100 percent.
00:01:51 And that's a good thing.
00:01:53 You don't want to rush him back.
00:01:55 What I'll say about this.
00:01:57 I saw somebody tweet quote tweet the update and say this is kind of woe language for he's
00:02:03 going to come back for game three, but they don't want me to tell you guys that he's coming
00:02:07 back for game three or targeting game three is the date.
00:02:11 That's why he just says there's optimism he'll return.
00:02:14 We've heard optimism from Woj before, and it's usually pretty nails.
00:02:18 It usually means that guy will be on the floor.
00:02:21 So that's a good thing for the Celtics, who at one point we were all kind of unsure whether
00:02:25 or not Porzingis would come back.
00:02:27 Now what I don't like about this.
00:02:31 I hate that he has to miss the home games because it could be very difficult should
00:02:36 something happen where they don't win at home because of him.
00:02:40 Not that we have evidence of it so far in this playoff run, but those are the games
00:02:44 I'd prefer not to lose.
00:02:46 Those are the games you're supposed to win.
00:02:48 So if you lose one of them because you're not healthy, it makes a little bit more difficult
00:02:52 going down the road.
00:02:54 That being said, Celtics undefeated never lost on the road.
00:02:57 This is true.
00:02:59 They have never lost on the road.
00:03:00 I will also say I in the video we just did, I like admitted to the potential advantages
00:03:08 of home court advantage.
00:03:10 Still don't really care about it as much in terms of like bring him back for the home
00:03:17 games.
00:03:18 I know.
00:03:19 Bring him back healthy.
00:03:20 I don't care.
00:03:21 Like you.
00:03:22 I know.
00:03:23 I know.
00:03:24 I'm just saying like I don't think winning the home games is any more important than
00:03:27 winning the road games.
00:03:28 You win four games in a series that like that's just how I look at it.
00:03:31 That is what you have to do.
00:03:32 Sometimes you're going to lose at home.
00:03:33 Sometimes you're losing the road.
00:03:34 Like win four games.
00:03:35 Don't care how you get there.
00:03:36 If you win four games, that's all anyone's going to remember in 20 years from now.
00:03:40 And you get there, you get to 16 postseason wins and that's it.
00:03:43 But it sounds like Chris stops could be back for later in the series.
00:03:46 I'm really curious to know what it'll look like.
00:03:48 I mean, we talked about it from the Isaiah Hartenstein perspective of probably get his
00:03:53 ass kicked if he's not fully in shape against a guy like Isaiah Hartenshine.
00:03:58 But even from the Pacers perspective, like those guys play quick.
00:04:01 If he's not 100 percent, he's not going to be able to get up and down the floor with
00:04:03 them.
00:04:04 So you need Chris stops 100 percent to play in this series.
00:04:07 I think they'll be fine without him for what it's worth.
00:04:09 I think the Celtics are a good enough team where they don't necessarily need him or they
00:04:12 shouldn't need him until the finals.
00:04:14 But it would be nice to take the second half of the Eastern Conference finals.
00:04:17 Fingers crossed, if all goes well, to give him some sort of a ramp up period so he doesn't
00:04:22 have to be just thrown into the fire when the NBA finals come around.
00:04:25 Should the Celtics be lucky enough to get there?
00:04:29 I do feel like if you're Al Horford, you're sitting there like, oh, yeah, I'd like Porzingis
00:04:34 to come back so I can have a breather a little bit so I can have less less of a burden on
00:04:38 me playing all these minutes.
00:04:40 He played great game five, wasn't great in games three and four, really wasn't fantastic
00:04:44 throughout the cab series, but sure to see all he's still got his legs, which is the
00:04:49 important thing, I suppose, in when Porzingis is out.
00:04:53 It is unbelievably important that he hits his threes in the games where he was not playing
00:04:58 well against Cleveland, even in game five.
00:05:01 They just started to leave him wide open.
00:05:03 I think he's eradicated that probably for the first game, at least of the conference
00:05:07 finals.
00:05:08 But going forward, he still has to make threes, still has to keep the defense honest, because
00:05:12 if he's not able to stretch the floor, that's going to make it really difficult on the rest
00:05:15 of the team, the stars to try and drive a kick.
00:05:18 Otherwise you're going to get some bland offense.
00:05:20 You hate guys settling for tough shots because they don't want to go to the rim with either
00:05:24 Hart and Stein or Miles Turner waiting for them, both guys who can block shots at a high
00:05:27 rate.
00:05:29 It's just something to keep your eyes on.
00:05:31 Don't think it's the end of the world.
00:05:32 It's good that Porzingis is probably going to be back.
00:05:34 It's good that they're taking their time with him and they're not rushing him.
00:05:37 I think if anything, this update clarifies that, that they are not forcing him to play.
00:05:42 They are waiting for him to be ready and they are keeping his long term health at the top
00:05:47 of their mind.
00:05:49 That's the most important thing with Porzingis, who's dealt with plenty of injuries.
00:05:53 He was getting some on-court work done in Cleveland for what it's worth.
00:05:56 He looked all right.
00:05:57 He still looked like he was moving a bit gingerly, but it was definitely progress from what we've
00:06:00 seen before that.
00:06:03 It does look like he'll be all right at the Celtics.
00:06:05 It is weird because I've kind of forgotten how they play with Porzingis just because
00:06:08 we watched a whole series and a half without him.
00:06:11 It's just kind of weird to think of him in the team.
00:06:13 I kind of forget he's there half the time, but he does add a whole new level.
00:06:16 He spent the entire season saying, "Oh, look at this super cool post game that the Celtics
00:06:20 can go to now.
00:06:21 Look at this floor spacing where Tatum can just drive, draw to, and flick it behind his
00:06:25 back to a guy who can nail threes 30 feet away from the basket."
00:06:30 So you kind of want that in the lineup when you're trying to win a title.
00:06:34 That would be pretty cool to have.
00:06:36 So hopefully he can get back after games one and two.
00:06:40 That said, they win games one and two.
00:06:44 I'm not complaining.
00:06:45 You give them an extra day of rest.
00:06:46 I'll say it.
00:06:47 I'm not complaining.
00:06:48 I'm not saying you do anything bad.
00:06:50 I'm just saying if you want to be extra cautious, Celtics could do them a handshake favor if
00:06:53 they just take care of business at home.
00:06:56 Lob it up to you if you'd like.
00:06:57 I mean, that's what you're looking for anyways.
00:06:59 Yeah, but then if you just take care of business in game three, the remainder of the series
00:07:06 should be less stressful and hopefully over quickly.
00:07:09 Yeah, let them ramp up and give them more rest.
00:07:13 Yeah, exactly.
00:07:14 Game four, I can get behind.
00:07:16 I'm just saying.
00:07:17 I'm just saying if they take care of business in game one and two, they can be even more
00:07:21 cautious.
00:07:22 That's all I'm saying.
00:07:23 They can be as cautious as they would like to with Mr. Unicorn.
00:07:27 So anyways, speaking of the Eastern Conference Finals, Celtics still don't know who they're
00:07:32 going to play because the Indiana Phasers decided to win game six.
00:07:36 Knicks lost.
00:07:37 Josh Hart got hurt.
00:07:38 Josh Hart with an abdominal strain is going to try to play in game seven, but the Knicks
00:07:42 are getting beat up.
00:07:43 They're already down.
00:07:44 Oh, gee, Jalen Brunson's playing hurt.
00:07:46 Bogdanovich season's over.
00:07:48 Josh Hart came with this gnarly tape on his abdomen.
00:07:50 Do you see the picture?
00:07:52 No, I didn't see the picture.
00:07:53 I got to find it.
00:07:54 But the Knicks are very beat up.
00:07:55 The Pacers are the Pacers and the Pacers might be the most inconsistent playoff team.
00:08:01 It's just they can't find a rhythm away from the floor.
00:08:07 Here is the Josh Hart tape job that I was referencing.
00:08:10 It looks like he had surgery, but it's just surgery.
00:08:14 Look at him.
00:08:16 It's an abdominal strain, but it's just tape all up and down his abs.
00:08:21 Knicks should be enough to show off his stomach.
00:08:24 Pacers are the Pacers.
00:08:27 All the people saying Celtics have an easy pathway, getting ready to say it again.
00:08:30 And you know what?
00:08:31 It's fine by me.
00:08:34 If you miss what Jack just said, don't worry.
00:08:37 Any Knicks fan you encounter will tell you everyone that they're missing.
00:08:42 Not to say it isn't a lot of people because they and Randall Randall.
00:08:45 Oh yeah.
00:08:46 Randall Randall.
00:08:47 Which was a poster down.
00:08:48 I did forget.
00:08:49 Neutral Robinson TV is also they don't get a pass for Randall anymore.
00:08:52 I forgot that they tore the poster down last year and we're like shitting on the guy.
00:08:57 You don't get to be like, oh yeah, that's the guy we all wanted after you literally
00:09:01 ripped his poster down and posted everywhere and stomped on it.
00:09:04 It's like you didn't want him last year.
00:09:06 You weren't happy with him last year.
00:09:07 Maybe don't use that as your cop out every single time.
00:09:10 Oh, G.
00:09:11 And nobody who they will tell you any chance they get there were 23 with in the regular
00:09:15 season they are without.
00:09:17 I'm sure Brunson's feeling the effects of being the only guy that can play on this team
00:09:22 and having to drive inside and fall around like Isaiah Thomas did trying to hang with
00:09:27 the trees.
00:09:28 Then you mentioned the Pacers being inconsistent.
00:09:31 The Knicks are essentially playing Grant Williams ball, but with everybody not named Jalen
00:09:36 Brunson.
00:09:37 It's like which one of our guys is going to have a game seven Grant Williams performance.
00:09:40 And if they don't get it, they don't seem to win in the first two games against Philly.
00:09:44 Josh Hart was Grant Williams.
00:09:46 Then you had a couple of D Vincenzo Grant Williams games sprinkled in there.
00:09:49 He had 35 in a playoff game.
00:09:51 It's going to be difficult to me if you ask me for them to beat the Celtics just because
00:09:57 those guys are going to have to show out every single game.
00:09:59 Now as somebody that watched the Celtics lose a playoff series because somebody became game
00:10:04 seven Grant Williams for the entire series last year.
00:10:07 It's true.
00:10:08 It's not impossible, but these guys are running on fumes.
00:10:13 There was all this talk earlier in the series about, oh, you know, they're all running on
00:10:16 fumes.
00:10:17 Everybody's getting hurt.
00:10:18 Josh Hart's playing every single minute of every single game, but he hasn't been hurt
00:10:22 yet.
00:10:23 Well, the bell chimed, the injury undertaker came up and got him and now he has the sick
00:10:30 tape on his abs, which still they were losing by a lot.
00:10:34 Maybe just wanted to show off his stomach and expense.
00:10:36 Okay.
00:10:37 Maybe I will say if it was a closer game, I bet Josh Hart would have played through
00:10:41 it.
00:10:42 Yeah.
00:10:43 No tape at all.
00:10:45 Yeah.
00:10:46 Um, game seven is today as you're listening to this, we didn't do playback.
00:10:50 Three 30.
00:10:51 Uh, we got a game brother.
00:10:53 Uh, we have a game at eight and the app eight at night.
00:10:57 I thought it was, I thought it was five 30.
00:10:59 I'm a double chest.
00:11:01 Maybe I know.
00:11:02 I think you're right.
00:11:03 I don't know why I had five 30 in my head.
00:11:04 Um, if we don't have a game, every Celtics practice though.
00:11:08 So I would need to get home.
00:11:09 I'm going to games until three 30.
00:11:11 I know, but you, you underestimate traffic coming out of Brighton.
00:11:15 I'm a, I'm a final email and well, I think you're right.
00:11:20 Yeah.
00:11:21 Practice is a quote unquote noon.
00:11:23 So I don't know if we'll be back by three 30, but we'll see.
00:11:26 Ideally it sounds like a fun idea, but we'll go from there.
00:11:30 If we, if I can, I will.
00:11:32 It's just a question Mark.
00:11:33 If I can't.
00:11:34 Um, my question is, who do you think wins this game?
00:11:37 Cause the Knicks have been good at MSG and respect the MSG.
00:11:41 I know you don't like the fans, but that place gets buzzing and I can respect that.
00:11:46 They certainly give them a home court advantage, but they're very hurt.
00:11:49 They're like very hurt.
00:11:51 So I don't know, man, you're relying on Alec Berks.
00:11:54 He's been good and precious to chew.
00:11:55 Who's been solid for heavy playoff minutes.
00:11:59 I don't know if Tyrese Haliburton can get his head out of his ass for a game seven performance
00:12:04 at MSG.
00:12:05 Pascal.
00:12:06 See, I've been solid teaching McConnell's a motherfucker, but Jalen Brunson at MSG,
00:12:12 I just, I don't see Jalen Brunson losing an MSG in game seven.
00:12:15 I just, I don't see it.
00:12:17 So we played eight 30.
00:12:20 We have the last of the opening rounds tomorrow.
00:12:22 So we are going to have plenty of time to at least watch this game.
00:12:26 If we're not on the street court.
00:12:28 You, me, John, Tyler, Brock.
00:12:31 Worth.
00:12:33 Brock and John is the same person.
00:12:35 Yes.
00:12:36 I was like, what did I say wrong?
00:12:37 Yes, correct.
00:12:38 Okay.
00:12:39 Yeah.
00:12:40 I meant that when I said John.
00:12:41 Yes, that's, that's it.
00:12:42 But yeah, I don't know.
00:12:43 Keep your eyes on the channel or Twitter or something.
00:12:45 We'll tell you if we're doing this tomorrow.
00:12:48 We would like to, it just depends if the schedule permits, cause it'll be a fun watch.
00:12:52 I'll get to hate, which is always fun.
00:12:55 Can't wait to pray on the next downfall.
00:12:57 I've got some tweets I'm ready to send.
00:13:00 Can't wait.
00:13:01 Sorry.
00:13:02 I thought you're going to have something else.
00:13:04 I asked you, I said, who do you think will win?
00:13:07 I said, I can't see Brenton losing.
00:13:09 I'm sorry.
00:13:10 I was focused on figuring out what time we have to be in.
00:13:13 I said, I don't think I see Brenton losing a game seven at home, but they're hurt.
00:13:17 Well, I think that the Knicks are going to win.
00:13:19 Truly.
00:13:20 I just don't know.
00:13:22 We talked about the pacers being inconsistent and I feel like that's more of an impact thing
00:13:28 than New York being tired, even though they are going to be playing game seven, less than
00:13:35 48 hours after game six.
00:13:37 Like this is a quick turnaround when it comes to the playoffs, less than two full days rest.
00:13:42 And if there's any team that that's going to matter for it's them.
00:13:45 You have Josh Hart dealing with this injury.
00:13:48 You have Brunson who's probably banged up.
00:13:49 All these other guys are fatigued playing all these minutes.
00:13:53 Maybe maybe it's going to hurt them.
00:13:56 If Josh Hart's not at full strength, that's going to hurt them.
00:13:58 He's a big fourth quarter offense guy, meaning he gets all their offensive rebounds, him
00:14:01 and Hardenstein.
00:14:03 He's a menace on the glass.
00:14:04 He's getting them extra possessions.
00:14:05 And that's one of the way they close these close games that they always seem to be in.
00:14:09 This is truly like a toss up to me.
00:14:13 Hmm.
00:14:14 Yeah.
00:14:15 I don't know.
00:14:16 It's just tough for me to see the Pacers going in there and beating them in New York.
00:14:20 They should have won game one.
00:14:23 It's true.
00:14:24 That's true.
00:14:25 I forgot how close that one was.
00:14:27 I don't know, man.
00:14:28 This is going to be a fun one, I think.

00:15:10 It's usually point five.
00:15:12 He just needs more than point five blocks.
00:15:14 That means one Drew Holiday block and that pick is in the bag.

00:15:38 Pick more, pick less.
00:15:40 It's that easy.
00:15:45 Gerald Brunson's just so good.
00:15:47 Like he's just he's unbelievable.
00:15:49 I know he's slow.
00:15:50 I know he's hurt, but he's nuts.
00:15:51 I want to ask you this.
00:15:52 Do you think this next team fully healthy minus Julius Randall like this next playoffs
00:15:57 team beats a fully healthy bucks team in the playoffs?
00:16:01 I don't know.
00:16:02 I truly don't know.
00:16:04 Milwaukee just wasn't good this season, so I think you have to say the evidence and be
00:16:08 like, yeah, probably.
00:16:09 Okay, I thought you were going to ask me the Mark Wilbon thing that was like or Michael
00:16:13 Wilbon thing.
00:16:14 What is it fully healthy?
00:16:15 They would beat the Celtics.
00:16:16 No questions asked.
00:16:17 Oh, is that what he said?
00:16:18 Yeah, it's been going around Twitter.
00:16:19 General Brunson.
00:16:20 Yeah.
00:16:21 31 points in game six.
00:16:22 So stupid.
00:16:23 11 of 26.
00:16:24 That man is just firing.
00:16:29 He's averaging almost as many misses as Tatum is shot attempts.
00:16:33 It's crazy.
00:16:36 Except when you are you like he's missing a lot.
00:16:38 I asked Noah this like last week.
00:16:40 She says Jalen Brunson is the top two point guard in the NBA thoughts.
00:16:46 I know you like Jalen Brunson, so I'm okay with asking you that.
00:16:48 I'm fine with him.
00:16:49 I'm just trying to think like, take a shave in him.
00:16:53 Count.
00:16:54 She's a point guard.
00:16:55 That's what she's like.
00:16:56 He's a shooting guard.
00:16:57 I think he's played point guard for a lot of this year.
00:17:00 I think any access their point guard.
00:17:01 So I think it's better than Luca.
00:17:05 She said yes.
00:17:06 Jim was better than Steph.
00:17:07 I don't think so.
00:17:08 No, I don't think so.
00:17:09 But she said yes right now.
00:17:10 Right now.
00:17:11 Well, probably better than Hal Burton.
00:17:14 Hal Burton's been Simmons.
00:17:16 I think he's a right now.
00:17:21 Right now he's probably a top ten player in the league right now.
00:17:24 Currently playing at the level he's playing at, which is crazy to think about.
00:17:27 But like he is an engine.
00:17:28 Better than Peyton Pritchard.
00:17:29 Probably not.
00:17:30 She would have agreed.
00:17:31 Motherfucker.
00:17:32 I don't know, man.
00:17:33 My question is, would you rather see this version of the Knicks or the Pacers in the
00:17:45 Eastern Conference Finals?
00:17:46 And usually it's like, oh, obviously the Pacers are like one of three teams to beat the Celtics
00:17:51 twice this year.
00:17:52 And I know there's only so much weight you can put into that, but it did beat them twice.
00:17:57 And so I think there is some merit, especially with how hurt the Knicks are.
00:18:00 Celtics also beat the Pacers by 50.
00:18:03 This is true with no Terry Salaburn or see.
00:18:07 No, how was your let's talk about see.
00:18:11 Sure.
00:18:12 Sitting here thinking about the bubble thing about Jalen.
00:18:15 That was four years.
00:18:16 Hell, that was for you.
00:18:17 Supposedly supposed to be in his prime.
00:18:19 So it was four years ago in Jalen's better.
00:18:24 And so see.
00:18:25 Will you will you give me that face as if he's not like average, like put a 37 point
00:18:32 playoff games and wins like you can't you can't do that.
00:18:35 Like he's absolutely better.
00:18:36 100 percent still think Jalen's going to be a tough matchup.
00:18:40 I'm not saying Jalen's not going to guard him, but you can't say Jalen's better than
00:18:43 say Nassie.
00:18:44 Occam is worse.
00:18:45 Like he's just objectively not.
00:18:48 Does he really strike fear into your heart?
00:18:49 Is he a straight fear in your heart?
00:18:51 I'm not saying like I think he's a swing.
00:18:53 Should I?
00:18:54 I'm saying the Celtics should beat both these teams.
00:18:57 I'm just saying, would you rather play the Pacers who beat the Celtics twice or this
00:19:01 version of the Knicks who are hurt?
00:19:02 And I think usually the obvious answer is the Pacers.
00:19:05 But with how hurt the Knicks are with Josh Hart struggling with Mitchell Robinson out
00:19:10 with Jalen Brunson half hurt like I think it's closer than than a lot of people think
00:19:15 with the blink of an eye.
00:19:16 They're kind of like fucking around with this OG thing and they're like maybe he's in a
00:19:20 play.
00:19:21 They're giving you the old Ben Simmons number when he was supposed to come out in that series.
00:19:26 So I don't know whether to think he would be back for a Celtics series or not.
00:19:30 I don't think he would be.
00:19:31 I think I stand by.
00:19:33 I think his injury looked pretty brutal.
00:19:34 Looked like it hurt.
00:19:36 Had to come right out of the game.
00:19:37 Couldn't walk.
00:19:38 Went down after a fast break.
00:19:39 So he's a good player.
00:19:42 Next playing a lot of close games.
00:19:45 Do you like the Southeast and close games?
00:19:48 Uh, honestly, I think I think no, but they've been a lot better this year.
00:19:55 Oh gee, questionable.
00:19:57 Upgraded to questionable.
00:19:58 We'll go through shoot around.
00:19:59 Hmm.
00:20:00 Interesting.
00:20:01 Interesting.
00:20:02 I think I'd rather play Pacers.
00:20:04 I just think they've been really inconsistent.
00:20:07 I think Halbert is showed like he want to show up like he wants to play half the time.
00:20:12 And I think the rest of these guys like knee Smith has been inconsistent.
00:20:17 Nem hard was awful in that game.
00:20:18 They hit the game winner before it went in.
00:20:20 The most consistent guy might be TJ McConnell.
00:20:22 Sam, I don't know.
00:20:23 It's you free throws by the way.
00:20:25 I just in case you wanted to consider this.
00:20:27 This was a tick tock that went around.
00:20:29 I don't know if you saw this.
00:20:30 Um, it's a great place for NBA content.
00:20:33 It is an unbiased Knicks fan.
00:20:36 Um, so this is the first one.
00:20:40 Yep.
00:20:41 Uh, thoughts.
00:20:42 I'll let you talk on this.
00:20:44 This is a comparison.
00:20:48 So I would be biased.
00:20:50 This is a conversation or a comparison.
00:20:52 Excuse me for audio listeners.
00:20:53 Dante, do you intend over systeric white and they compare them in scoring, passing three
00:20:57 pointers, two pointers, defense rebounding blocks and overall scoring.
00:21:00 They give to Dante DiVincenzo passing.
00:21:03 They give the Dante DiVincenzo three point shooting.
00:21:05 They give it to Dante DiVincenzo two point shooting.
00:21:08 They give to Dante DiVincenzo defense.
00:21:10 They give to Dante DiVincenzo rebounding is equal blocks is equal and they say Dante
00:21:15 DiVincenzo is better than Derek White.
00:21:19 This is going to be a long click through of these slides.
00:21:21 These people are the worst people on the planet.
00:21:24 Terrorists.
00:21:25 This is horrendous.
00:21:27 Yes, Dante DiVincenzo is the better defender than the all defensive player.
00:21:31 Sure.
00:21:32 Equal next one.
00:21:34 Josh Hart versus Jason Tatum scoring.
00:21:37 Give the Tatum.
00:21:38 Oh, that's generous.
00:21:39 Passing Josh Hart three point shooting or equal two pointers.
00:21:43 Tatum defense.
00:21:44 Josh Hart rebounding.
00:21:46 Josh Hart blocks.
00:21:47 Josh Hart.
00:21:48 Overall, they do give the tape.
00:21:49 I'll give him the three pointer.
00:21:50 OK, I'll get I'll get.
00:21:51 Next one, Hartstein versus Porzingis scoring KP passing Hartstein three pointers KP two
00:22:03 pointers defense rebounding blocks and overall all go to Hartstein.
00:22:07 So obviously very unbiased here.
00:22:11 Very well.
00:22:13 I still think the Celtics should want to play the Pacers.
00:22:18 I think they should be either of these teams, especially with how injured Jalen Brunson
00:22:22 is and for what it's worth, I think they probably have the best answer to Jalen Brunson that
00:22:26 he's seen in the playoffs so far by a long shot.
00:22:29 I mean, you look at the permanent defenders that have been stuck in him.
00:22:31 Kelly Oubre actually did a pretty solid job.
00:22:33 McConnell's been a solid job.
00:22:34 The Celtics have Derek White, Andrew Holiday and Brown and Tatum like they have better
00:22:41 defenders.
00:22:42 The Celtics top three defenders are better than any defender on any of the teams.
00:22:45 This makes up late so far.
00:22:46 I agree.
00:22:47 I think the guards that they can throw at them are more impressive than anything he's
00:22:52 seen.
00:22:53 Plus if you do factor in if they wanted to put Tatum on him.
00:22:58 I just think back to the game in OKC where the Celtics look dead.
00:23:02 Celtics look nobody could stop Shay and he got a check.
00:23:05 That's exactly what it was like.
00:23:07 Shay over the fourth Tatum was locked in.
00:23:11 And if they even if you just want to run with that in the fourth quarter, right?
00:23:17 If you're in a close game with the Knicks and you just have Tatum on Brunson, who else
00:23:21 is going to create shots to beat you?
00:23:24 And I saw something that's that's very true.
00:23:26 If you put someone who was talking about it, it might have been Zach Lowe.
00:23:30 When like you put Nismith on Brunson, but then you have like if you guard Brunson with
00:23:36 Nismith, that's fine because that's a good place to hide him.
00:23:40 But then it's harder for Brunson to run down the other end because Nismith will already
00:23:43 be on him.
00:23:44 And that was the best matchup to pace has had so far.
00:23:46 You know I'm saying?
00:23:47 So I'm actually following.
00:23:49 So but that's good for the Celtics, because if you put Tatum on Brunson, then you run
00:23:53 down the other end.
00:23:54 Brunson's probably still going to be on Tatum.
00:23:55 And that sounds like a pretty good matchup to me.
00:23:58 There's no way they let that happen.
00:24:00 Well, no, but then if they don't, that'll cause a scramble in transition.
00:24:03 Tatum could potentially have a lane.
00:24:04 You know I'm saying?
00:24:05 So that's like the counter, like another good point to yours.
00:24:09 From a me perspective, I would like the Pacers to win because I'll have a lot of fun on Twitter
00:24:14 tomorrow.
00:24:15 I mean, you can't tell me it wouldn't be hysterical if they've been chanting we want Boston since
00:24:20 beating Philly one time.
00:24:21 Both teams have chanted it.
00:24:22 The Pacers chanted it.
00:24:24 When?
00:24:25 After game six.
00:24:26 I'm pretty sure.
00:24:27 Let me find it.
00:24:28 Well, game six, a little different because they're actually like they're up next.
00:24:34 They're up.
00:24:35 What do you mean?
00:24:36 What's up?
00:24:37 The next time they would be at home, they would be playing the Celtics.
00:24:40 This is not winning one single play.
00:24:42 In general, no, changing in general is lame and stupid, as we've seen.
00:24:49 Let's see.
00:24:50 They don't even sound like they believe that.
00:24:58 This reeks of anyone chanting we want Boston this year is reeks of underdog and we're fucked
00:25:05 like that's that's what it sounds like.
00:25:07 It's just like, oh, I mean, they really did not sound like they believe that.
00:25:15 But the Knicks have been doing it since they beat Philly in game one.
00:25:18 Like sure.
00:25:19 How funny would be if they've been just chanting this for like a month and then it doesn't
00:25:21 even happen.
00:25:22 I'm going to once again, just let you dream here.
00:25:26 What would a sweep do for you, Sam?
00:25:30 A sweep.
00:25:32 They should let me play on the team for a sweep.
00:25:34 I would I would talk so much shit to the crowd.
00:25:38 All those John Starks like being in the paint while Tatum dunks the ball because he just
00:25:43 can't stay off the court in these home Knicks games would be a little funny.
00:25:47 But yes, like the Celtics turn over the Knicks and he has to like scramble off the court.
00:25:51 He's like the guy with the broom.
00:25:53 Clean the sweat off.
00:25:54 That's essentially what he's done.
00:25:55 All playoffs.
00:25:56 They just don't have to follow the rules.
00:25:57 It's like, oh, yeah, you can run on the court.
00:26:00 Go ahead.
00:26:01 Now, these these next people are the worst.
00:26:03 I would love to see them lose tomorrow.
00:26:05 I'd love to see the Celtics kick the shit out of them.
00:26:07 Just they have no idea how to behave.
00:26:10 They have no idea how to behave.
00:26:11 I forget who it was we were talking to.
00:26:14 I think it was one of ourselves.
00:26:15 And they were like, yeah, they just, you know, they're happy to be here.
00:26:19 It's like, yeah.
00:26:20 Or I think it was Kari talking about like they've had no success, like they should be
00:26:23 happy and I think they should be happy.
00:26:25 But there is like a hate like there is a behavior part that goes to being happy.
00:26:31 And I I've let you rock with it.
00:26:34 Have some decorum.
00:26:35 Next fans are great.
00:26:36 Like they're I'm sorry.
00:26:38 I know you dislike them because of the way they act.
00:26:40 But that is how fans should act.
00:26:42 That is how fans should act.
00:26:43 They should be behind their team.
00:26:46 They're a little better.
00:26:47 Why?
00:26:48 I don't think there is a line too excited for you because you're an opponent.
00:26:52 Like I get it from your perspective.
00:26:53 I get why you hate them.
00:26:54 I don't say you're wrong for that.
00:26:55 I 100 percent get it.
00:26:56 But I think that is what they should be doing.
00:26:58 They are such a poverty franchise that they have no idea how to behave when they win.
00:27:04 Stand by it.
00:27:05 They back their team no matter what.
00:27:06 I respect that.
00:27:07 All right.
00:27:08 Anyways, next thing before we get into the email, I wanted to say something quickly,
00:27:12 because by the time you're listening to this, my article or articles will be out on South
00:27:17 Dix blog.
00:27:18 I wrote effectively six features or one like general article that links to the rest.
00:27:25 But I wrote about five of the Celtics player development coaches, Jermaine Buckner, Craig
00:27:29 Lushin at I think it's Lushin or Lushin at apologies, Craig Phil Presi, Ross McMains
00:27:36 and Tyler Lashbrook.
00:27:38 I talked about their stories, their journeys.
00:27:41 I'll give you a little preview here just to get you to go read them.
00:27:45 It should be up by 8 a.m. on Sunday.
00:27:47 So unless you're listening to this in the 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. window, it should be up on
00:27:51 Celtics blog dot com right now.
00:27:54 Jermaine Buckner is a legend in Germany, in Trier, Germany.
00:28:00 He's like a god in this city because he devoted his life to the franchise.
00:28:05 His story is incredible in his numbers retired on the court now because of just how amazing
00:28:10 was he had like meetings with the mayor.
00:28:12 He had all all bunch of cool stuff to go down just because of how great a guy he is.
00:28:16 So go read that.
00:28:17 Craig is a Boston product.
00:28:19 He was born in Boston, played for Andover High School, and then he worked in Maine.
00:28:24 And so he sort of worked his way up the ranks.
00:28:26 Super hard worker.
00:28:27 Great guy.
00:28:28 Says hi to me every time by the court.
00:28:31 Awesome dude.
00:28:32 His story is awesome.
00:28:33 Went through Maine up in Boston.
00:28:34 Now, Tyler played in high school in Kentucky and then was a blogger.
00:28:39 He wrote for Espionage and fans cited and then he made his way up the NBA ranks after
00:28:43 sending emails to various NBA teams in a stop in Philly.
00:28:47 And now he's here, came over at the same time as Sam Cassell.
00:28:50 I assume they came together, but with him.
00:28:52 So his story is great.
00:28:53 No press.
00:28:54 You guys all know, played for the Celtics and then he played overseas for a while.
00:28:58 He actually was playing as recently as 2022.
00:29:00 Like he's been playing still just internationally.
00:29:03 Stopped in Missouri.
00:29:04 I talked to Jared Salinger for that.
00:29:05 I talked to Michael Shrewsbury, former Celtics assistant for that, had all great things to
00:29:09 say.
00:29:10 He's just a really genuine dude.
00:29:11 And that has sort of propelled him into these opportunities.
00:29:13 He's awesome.
00:29:14 And the reason he's going to stick with it is because of how hard he works.
00:29:17 And Ross McMahons is the fucking basketball genius.
00:29:20 Everybody I've talked to him.
00:29:21 He's been coaching since he's 18.
00:29:24 He had like an internship with the New Zealand breakers or a video position with the breakers
00:29:28 at like 18 years old, right out of high school.
00:29:30 He's been coaching forever.
00:29:31 Super cool stories there.
00:29:33 He made the first basket of the millennium.
00:29:35 He's just, he just loves basketball and he's an awesome guy.
00:29:38 So go read those features.
00:29:39 Those are gonna be out on Celtics blog now.
00:29:41 I'd appreciate it very much.
00:29:42 I don't plug much often, but it's been a while.
00:29:44 I've been working on this for a long time.
00:29:46 Jack has been killing himself doing this.
00:29:49 He transcribed over 30,000 words of quotes.
00:29:52 He made sure all the information is there for you guys.
00:29:55 All the storytelling is there for you guys.
00:29:56 Like he mentioned, he had some great interviews, obviously Selinger's Shrewsbury, who's now
00:30:00 the Notre Dame head coach.
00:30:02 Some other ones in there that you didn't mention.
00:30:03 I'm not going to, not going to pull them out there if you don't want people.
00:30:07 But he did a really, really good amount of work on this.
00:30:09 So you guys should go check it out.
00:30:10 Celtics blogs and shit.
00:30:12 They have plenty of the front page.
00:30:13 I'll give you a page, I believe.
00:30:16 Yes, sir.
00:30:17 Hey gang.
00:30:18 I want to say a little something about game time.
00:30:20 The NBA playoffs have arrived.
00:30:22 It's the most wonderful time of the year.
00:30:25 Who doesn't want to get in on the fun?
00:30:26 With game time, you can experience it with your own eyes.
00:30:31 Get yourself great seats to games with even greater prices.
00:30:35 That's right.
00:30:36 You can save when getting your tickets with game time.
00:30:40 It's an authorized ticket marketplace of the NBA, which makes getting those playoff tickets
00:30:44 even faster and easier.
00:30:46 Plus the prices on game time usually go down the closer it gets to tip off.
00:30:52 Who doesn't love to save a little bit of money?
00:30:54 I certainly do.
00:30:55 I used to game time back in March when I took the lady to a game.

00:31:45 Alright, let's go to y'all's emails.
00:31:46 Now.
00:31:47 Reminder is always make sure to email us at HBTC pod at gmail.com.
00:31:52 We would appreciate every much.
00:31:53 We always love hearing from you.
00:31:54 So here are the emails lost from RJ1 from Philip RJ.
00:31:57 What's popping?
00:31:58 Hold on to the rope, but not too tightly.
00:32:00 Evening guys.
00:32:01 Hey, look at that.
00:32:02 The Celtics beat their opponent for one and moved on to the next round of the playoffs.
00:32:05 Ho hum.
00:32:06 We knew it was going to happen even more so after learning.
00:32:08 Karis Levert was joining D Mitch and Jared Allen on the injured list.
00:32:12 What was interesting was seeing how the Celtics chose to play in this deciding game in years
00:32:15 past.
00:32:16 The model was number one seed kicks loving crap out of the under red four seed as and
00:32:20 fans would have been treated to a 30 point lead in the third quarter as stars played
00:32:23 with intensity and flex for the highlight reels.
00:32:25 Then bench players would get some minutes in the final frame to build up their own video
00:32:29 footage.
00:32:30 A recent example of this was Celtics November 1st game against Indiana.
00:32:33 These Celtics don't overheat the engine unless they need to.
00:32:36 Game five was never going to be wire to wire maximum effort game.
00:32:38 We all knew it, which in years past or game two of the series.
00:32:41 It's made Celtics fans nervous, but this game Boston won the final three quarters after
00:32:45 tying the first.
00:32:46 The spread in each were 0618 for a convenient 15 point victory.
00:32:52 Cavs played to the best of their effort and the Celtics kept a comfortable grip on the
00:32:55 rope all the way throughout.
00:32:56 No one had either a great or abysmal stat line for the seas for one exception.
00:33:00 Al Horford was six of 13 on threes.
00:33:02 Ages how I should say eight of 15 overall for a line of 22 points, 15 rebounds, seven
00:33:08 offensive five assists, one steel, three blocks.
00:33:11 Yes, Darius Garland got by him, but for twos rather than Mitchell in his barrage of threes,
00:33:16 Boston won.
00:33:17 They get some rest and wait for Chris stops to heal up.
00:33:19 National media were trying to hype up something about the Celtics.
00:33:21 Maybe they aren't tying their shoes tightly enough.
00:33:22 I don't know.
00:33:23 In the meantime, I'll enjoy a good night's rest.
00:33:25 Be well and let's win this thing.
00:33:27 RJW I like this perspective.
00:33:30 I'm a fan.
00:33:31 Are you not?
00:33:33 Yeah.
00:33:34 Oh, well, I, I agree with a lot of it.
00:33:38 But the maximum effort, it should just always be a maximum effort.
00:33:43 And I don't know if that's what he was trying to say.
00:33:45 Like, I don't think the Celtics were not trying, but they weren't like emptying the tank.
00:33:50 And yeah, I don't think we should present as they weren't trying because I actually
00:33:54 thought we saw.
00:33:55 Yeah, I mean, you started out Horford, but Horford injected life into the building and
00:33:59 the team because he tried.
00:34:01 I think I don't saw them kind of sleepwalking the first half and then he got everybody up.
00:34:06 But you know, he looked good and he had to get the energy in the building.
00:34:11 We talk a lot about the home crowd and these guys have to play with energy at home.
00:34:15 And I know it's twofold.
00:34:17 And I think the crowd needs to give them energy too.
00:34:20 But these fans, whether it's ticket prices, not trusting the team, shaky home record,
00:34:26 boredom are not as engaged as they always have been.
00:34:29 Game five is different than what I just said.
00:34:32 They were Horford got them going.
00:34:34 But that's what I think we should all want to see going forward in the playoffs.
00:34:37 I thought you got a good team victory in game five for what it's worth.
00:34:41 Like RJ's got a good point.
00:34:42 I think Jalen only taking nine shots and still being really effective is awesome.
00:34:45 Seven assists for Jalen because he just was like, OK, yeah, I'm not going to go up on
00:34:50 five people.
00:34:51 I'll kick it out.
00:34:52 Perfect.
00:34:53 I don't think it's necessarily not giving full effort.
00:34:56 I think it's just not overexerting yourself.
00:34:59 And I think you can be full effort without going like a million miles an hour, if that
00:35:05 makes sense.
00:35:06 You can pour your effort into the game without, you know, running the same play every time,
00:35:10 running the exact set that you know will get you a point, breaking it down like you can
00:35:14 be maximum effort without overheating.
00:35:18 And I think that's sort of what the Celtics are doing.
00:35:19 The Celtics are going to do everything they need to win.
00:35:22 They're not going to do everything they need to win by 30.
00:35:25 They're going to win the game like that is their only goal.
00:35:27 They don't care how they win.
00:35:28 They don't care how much they win by.
00:35:29 They don't care.
00:35:30 Realistically, I don't think they'd give a shit if they won the series in six rather
00:35:33 than five, but they're going to do everything in their power to win every game.
00:35:37 Exactly.
00:35:38 Are they going to mess up?
00:35:39 Yeah.
00:35:40 Like there's no undefeated team in the playoffs like that.
00:35:41 Just never fucking has that ever happened.
00:35:42 I don't think that's ever happened.
00:35:43 Right.
00:35:44 No one's ever gone 16.
00:35:45 You know, Lakers went 15 and one.
00:35:47 That's as close as it's gotten.
00:35:49 The Warriors went 61.
00:35:50 Right.
00:35:51 Didn't they go 61 in one last run?
00:35:55 Yeah.
00:35:56 Like no, no team's ever going to be undefeated unless and only like the best teams ever lose
00:36:02 one game.
00:36:03 So it's going to happen.
00:36:04 But I think the Celtics like you out on the road earlier this season, Ben, don't break.
00:36:10 That's what the Celtics did in game five.
00:36:11 And it got them.
00:36:12 It's a comfy win.
00:36:13 Comfy.
00:36:14 It's very, very true.
00:36:15 I mean, you even saw instances in this game that it was like, oh yeah, down six.
00:36:21 All right, everybody lock in.
00:36:23 Push.
00:36:24 Push back ahead before the break.
00:36:27 This game was just a big time.
00:36:29 Ben without breaking game and the real theme of the playoffs has been that too, I think.
00:36:33 So it's just what the identity of this team has been.
00:36:36 It's just tough to like take the emotions out of it sometimes and see that definitely
00:36:42 that's how it goes.
00:36:44 Next email from let me go to the tab.
00:36:48 Excuse me, Philip, with love and respect, fellas.
00:36:50 It's been a couple of weeks since I wrote in, but there's a growing annoyance this time
00:36:53 of year.
00:36:54 It's pissing me off more than usual.
00:36:55 The national media with love and respect to them all.
00:36:58 They need to shut the fuck up or do some homework before speaking on a team player.
00:37:02 Ignorant, lazy old takes are symptom this time of year.
00:37:05 The corners of national media that normally only cover the Lakers and Cowboys suddenly
00:37:09 show up and start vomiting pseudo informed opinions about teams they do not watch.
00:37:14 The broadcasts are a minor annoyance at times, but in the news talk world, this is the flood
00:37:17 season for utter bullshit takes.
00:37:20 The only silver lining is that I think Celtics players themselves are probably better off
00:37:24 being infuriated, infuriated, excuse me, by the media than overhyped.
00:37:28 Best Phil, I think the best part is Celtics don't give a fuck.
00:37:33 Yeah, not the punch.
00:37:35 Yeah.
00:37:36 He's Celtics.
00:37:37 That is my favorite thing about the Celtics team.
00:37:39 They don't give a shit about anything.
00:37:41 Maybe take him stairs a little bit.
00:37:43 Well, I don't think he does.
00:37:45 Like he was directly asked, what do you think of the media?
00:37:47 He goes, I respect your job, but I disagree with some of the stuff sometimes.
00:37:50 But basically, he's like, yeah, like whatever.
00:37:53 And I think like no, no, no player is ever going to not care at all.
00:37:57 Like it's your correct human.
00:37:59 Everyone's going to see it.
00:38:00 But the Celtics have carried themselves in a way this season where.
00:38:05 Narratives and other stuff does not even like come close to affecting the way the play,
00:38:08 the way they play the floor.
00:38:09 That's awesome.
00:38:10 And I think a lot of that is Joe and credit to him.
00:38:12 I'm sure Phil is just sick and tired of seeing it on his timeline on Twitter or Facebook
00:38:17 wherever.
00:38:18 Yeah, but you can always just not consume that stuff because I mean, there's a billion
00:38:23 podcasts you have like this one and then you have other NBA podcasts that are national
00:38:28 that are legitimately good.
00:38:29 Like I mean, I always enjoy listening to Bill Simmons.
00:38:31 I think him and Russo do a bang up job on Sundays when they just recap the weekends,
00:38:35 talk about everything.
00:38:36 They watch a ton of basketball at the ringer, so it's a it's a good place to get information.
00:38:41 I think JJ Redick always does a pretty good job to like there are plenty.
00:38:44 Jack Lowe, like all these guys, they do a tremendous job of actually talking hoops.
00:38:49 Just don't watch the halftime shows.
00:38:50 That's going to make you want to put your head in the microwave.
00:38:54 Yeah, definitely.
00:38:55 And that's always always listen to us.
00:38:59 Because I watch every single game.
00:39:02 We're here.
00:39:03 Watch all the games.
00:39:04 We're here for you.
00:39:06 Let's pop in or return to virtual August morning, guys.
00:39:09 Well, here we are again.
00:39:10 The Celtics have advanced to the next round of the playoffs, and it's time to play.
00:39:13 Here's out content.
00:39:14 There's actual news where the Lions KPs return to the starting lineup and Giselle's right
00:39:18 in the coaching carousel.
00:39:19 Sam, Sam, because, by the way, he said he would like to be a head coach.
00:39:22 I saw that somewhere that he did.
00:39:24 John Wall.
00:39:25 John Wall's podcast.
00:39:26 Oh, he said that he won on John Wall's podcast.
00:39:30 Believe so.
00:39:31 It's like our both dependent on factual updates.
00:39:34 So I won't speculate idly about them.
00:39:36 Well, no, we know that said, let's play the game guessing game of when will Joe remember
00:39:40 he has this guy on his bench and try to figure out when the new bus one boys.
00:39:47 Oh, Shaber set more likely stay ready guy to see minutes either for energy against Pacers
00:39:52 or rebounding boost against the Knicks.
00:39:54 Sfi oddly is named as moved up the roster call towards the end of the regular season.
00:39:58 His tweener book and three point shot might prove helpful against the Knicks if Joe wants
00:40:01 a burst at the end of the quarter.
00:40:03 Jaden Springer think of him as O'Shea for the guard time.
00:40:05 He could provide a useful burst of energy, defensive energy inside the Knicks or they're
00:40:09 all Villanova all the time, squad of the Pacers and their Jack rabbit like guards.
00:40:12 The Mishka I can see me getting a little time against Miles Turner as he matches well in
00:40:17 terms of bulk size and mobility.
00:40:18 Jordan Walsh, I admit this one is a reach, but if the seas wanted to throw a box in one
00:40:22 quote curveball at the Knicks, Jalen Brunson has the size, length or I assume he meant
00:40:26 Jordan Walsh and expendability to go for a few minutes to try to disrupt the presence
00:40:30 flow.
00:40:31 Walsh is known that he understood how to play the Celtics version in their pace and space
00:40:34 offense and he wouldn't be a liability there.
00:40:37 Again, that stretch.
00:40:38 I handed a note with the what about Xavier Tillman, but I have no memory of anyone that
00:40:41 by that name ever being on the team.
00:40:44 Last note for y'all.
00:40:45 Well, it's been fun.
00:40:46 All good things come to the end.
00:40:47 Come to an end.
00:40:48 This will be my last.
00:40:49 What's popping email for a while.
00:40:50 Not to worry.
00:40:51 Everything's good.
00:40:52 Just got to focus on other things.
00:40:53 Be well and let's win this thing.
00:40:54 RJ, well, thank you, RJ.
00:40:55 We appreciate you.
00:40:56 I don't think any of these guys are going to play.
00:41:01 Not one.
00:41:02 You know, one probably isn't playing.
00:41:05 Joe is just been a circle trust guy.
00:41:07 I think that's where we've landed now.
00:41:09 And I don't think Tillman is in the circle of trust.
00:41:11 You can be like, why didn't you play Tillman after the all-star break when they traded
00:41:13 for him?
00:41:14 And that's valid.
00:41:15 But he just didn't.
00:41:16 He I don't think he has a big enough sample size with how they can use Tillman to the
00:41:19 best whether or not they want him shooting threes.
00:41:22 Like I just don't know if he's got Joe's trust yet.
00:41:25 And in the playoffs in the past, we've seen that be a real factor.
00:41:28 Last year, Hauser, who was a big part of the team this year, didn't play in the playoffs.
00:41:32 Cornette really got any minutes in the playoffs and he's been asked to take on a huge chunk
00:41:35 this year.
00:41:36 He's been great.
00:41:37 He's been so great.
00:41:38 And he when he played real minutes, the regular season, he's been great, too.
00:41:41 So here in Joe's trust, I cannot wait.
00:41:46 Only game winner on the team.
00:41:48 So in fairness to all the angry people, I cannot wait for maybe Pacers fans, but particularly
00:41:54 Knicks fans, should they play the Celtics to be like, why the fuck is LeCornet doing
00:41:59 this?
00:42:00 What do you mean?
00:42:01 He's like, that is that is that's going to be amazing.
00:42:05 I'm very excited.
00:42:07 Yeah, he did.
00:42:09 I was watching King the fourth quarter and he's like, look, when I didn't take a three
00:42:11 this year because he's like, this guy always took three.
00:42:13 It's like he took one one for one, baby.
00:42:16 All right.
00:42:17 Last email.
00:42:18 Here we get a couple more, I should say.
00:42:20 All right.
00:42:21 Well, never mind.
00:42:22 With love and respect, does Brad buy up in this year's draft?
00:42:25 Hey, folks, I hope you all didn't think I'd run out of things to say.
00:42:27 It's just the time for a new subject line.
00:42:29 You got us.
00:42:30 OK, I know we've all gotten used to the sight of Brad Stevens.
00:42:34 Tuning, turning one pick in five later picks.
00:42:37 But given how flat this draft is, do you think there's a possibility the Celtics moving up
00:42:40 to get a player they want in the mid first round?
00:42:43 No, I'm not caping for Zack.
00:42:44 Edie, just legit curious to Brad throws a curveball before Joe does.
00:42:48 Happy virtual August.
00:42:49 Be well in this wing, this thing.
00:42:53 Maybe I don't think so, though.
00:42:55 I think they'll just pick it 30, grab a guy under a team friendly contract and then move
00:42:59 from there.
00:43:00 I think.
00:43:01 Yeah, I don't think they're going to move up.
00:43:02 I mean, first and foremost, this draft isn't that deep or let me rephrase that this draft
00:43:07 isn't considered to be one of the better drafts.
00:43:09 So I think a lot of front offices will be hesitant to move up.
00:43:13 I also think Brad Stevens, maybe that's where Brad strikes.
00:43:16 Maybe that's where he strikes.
00:43:17 He's he's six and everyone else acts.
00:43:19 But this is this is like a Brad Stevens move where we've seen he wants to bring in guys.
00:43:24 He can keep on the friendliest of deals because he wants to stay as cat friendly as possible.
00:43:31 They're paying all of the top guys.
00:43:34 He's indicated that he wants to pay Derek White.
00:43:36 So in order to be able to do that and still feel the team, you have to draft well, you
00:43:40 have to pick guys that are going to make a lot of money.
00:43:43 And if you pick in the second round.
00:43:45 Second round picks are not that.
00:43:47 They're not.
00:43:48 I don't like love them as like, oh, my God, look at all the second round picks team has
00:43:52 like to get excited.
00:43:53 But like there have been plenty of great players picked in the second round.
00:43:58 And if the Celtics are willing to develop them, you have spots you're going to have
00:44:01 to fill.
00:44:02 Eventually, Luke Cornett, free agent this summer played really well.
00:44:06 Anytime he's got real run, they're either not going to bring him back or have to pay
00:44:10 him a little bit.
00:44:11 Sam Houser's got one more year of making McDonald's money to play for the Celtics.
00:44:17 They're going to need somebody to fill his role.
00:44:19 Peyton Pritchard, thankfully, is under contract for a while.
00:44:22 Al Horford's.
00:44:23 I mean, if they win, does he retire?
00:44:27 Maybe.
00:44:28 I don't think he's out of gas, but he might be like, OK, I've achieved what I wanted to
00:44:31 achieve.
00:44:32 I don't need to do this anymore.
00:44:33 You're going to eventually need more bodies to come off your bench and play minutes.
00:44:37 Whether you get him to the draft or it's Tillman and Jaden Springer, who are both guys that
00:44:40 I think down the line could step in to a little bit of an extra minute role.
00:44:45 But right now, how many guys on this team do you think it's going to be long term?
00:44:50 Those guys I mentioned are not going to be under contract.
00:44:52 I think at the very least, you probably have to decide between Cornett Tillman, Nimi, maybe
00:44:56 just bring back two of them, maybe bring back.
00:44:58 Well, you know, I'm saying like probably not the best Cornett.
00:45:00 So I don't agree.
00:45:03 I'm with you.
00:45:04 I like Tillman, too, but.
00:45:05 Cornett's that guy.
00:45:06 All right.
00:45:07 Last email, RJ again.
00:45:08 Jesus Christ.
00:45:09 With love and respect to team only a team only nerd ball nerds could love if you'd
00:45:14 like to.
00:45:15 I'll zoom it up for you.
00:45:16 Here you go.
00:45:17 Hold up.
00:45:18 All right.
00:45:19 Morning, folks.
00:45:20 Time for a little trip down memory lane.
00:45:21 Here's Mr. Hutchinson trigonometry and analytic geometry of my high school.
00:45:26 He had a dry sense of humor and every so often when he was talking or walking us through
00:45:30 a proof, he would pause and tell the class of the look at how beautiful that is.
00:45:36 We all thought he was sarcastic, nuts or both, but we had to pass the class.
00:45:40 So we didn't say anything.
00:45:41 We just nodded and kept taking notes.
00:45:43 Nineteen eighty five.
00:45:44 Eighty six.
00:45:45 Larry Bird was an assassin on the court, but he wasn't a ninja.
00:45:48 He could put an opponent down with a no look pass, a hustle put back basket or a called
00:45:52 it buzzer beater.
00:45:54 And when Bird put you down, you knew it.
00:45:55 McHale could run a clinic in the low post with a move after move after move until his
00:46:00 defender looks silly.
00:46:01 Robert Parrish rejected shots and made his trademark rainbow jumper.
00:46:05 All of these were very visible, outstanding basketball plays.
00:46:08 Twenty twenty two.
00:46:09 Twenty three.
00:46:10 Whether it's Marcus Smart diving the floor, D White drawing charges or Rob Williams dunking
00:46:13 from the stratosphere, along with making some incredibly quick passes.
00:46:17 Last year's team gave some great highlights that could run a six second slot in Sports
00:46:21 Center or get retweeted like the 86 squad.
00:46:24 They did things that at a glance looked impressive as hell, but for whatever reason, injuries
00:46:29 or they just hadn't unlocked a particular level.
00:46:31 Last year's squad did not possess a quality.
00:46:34 The 86 team could flex and almost at will.
00:46:38 In addition to the highlights that the 86 squad also had a fun way or had a way of going
00:46:44 from being down by one point in three minutes later, they were up by eight and you would
00:46:48 go, wait, what happened?
00:46:50 Nothing fancy, just a string of stops and makes that came from playing good, consistent,
00:46:53 high level ball.
00:46:54 It would come in spurts and usually ended with the opposition taking a timeout to figure
00:46:59 out what the hell had happened.
00:47:00 Coach Mizzou built this year's squad on creating and winning those runs play after play, night
00:47:04 after night.
00:47:06 Maintain proper spacing, make the extra pass, play good team defense.
00:47:10 Anything that leads the sports segment on the local news, but it is appreciated by assistants
00:47:14 who break down videos and other basketball nerds.
00:47:18 You know, the sort podcasters, why I mentioned Mr. Hutchinson.
00:47:22 Well, by the end of the school year, we not only learned trig and analytic geometry, we
00:47:27 started seeing the beauty he talked about.
00:47:29 It was there all along.
00:47:30 We just didn't know, spot it and appreciate it.
00:47:32 And I think that's why the Celtics fans in the garden have been kind of quiet.
00:47:35 They'll get there.
00:47:36 It just takes time.
00:47:37 They'll get there and win this thing.
00:47:38 RJ who had Mr. Hutchinson on the original Celtics West squad.
00:47:41 He could ball too.
00:47:45 I think to go back to the quietness in the winning the runs aspect of this, Joe talked
00:47:53 to you guys about that a little bit in the zoom yesterday.
00:47:55 He's saying how they watch all these other NBA teams and they study the rest of the league
00:47:59 to figure out how do other teams win runs, go on runs, put a stop to runs, win games,
00:48:06 lose games.
00:48:07 He wants to observe as much as he can so he can use all that cumulative information to
00:48:14 make beautiful basketball.
00:48:15 And I think he's such a psycho that he's the perfect head coach for the Celtics and this
00:48:20 team in particular, he's been a fantastic head coach for because they've just bought
00:48:24 into the mindset stuff.
00:48:26 He's somebody that for real wants them to stay committed to winning.
00:48:30 Doesn't really care about the outside stuff.
00:48:32 And a lot of these guys have sacrificed and bought into it because of him, at least partly.
00:48:37 So he deserves some credit, especially after being on the guillotine last spring.
00:48:40 I said it a million times.
00:48:43 The Celtics are boring.
00:48:44 They're just a boring team because they just win.
00:48:47 They're just good.
00:48:48 They just do their job.
00:48:49 They don't do anything flashy and they win and they win by a lot usually.
00:48:53 And when they lose, it's the end of the world because they're so good and it's so usual
00:48:56 that they win.
00:48:57 But like shit happens, losing happens.
00:48:59 And at this point in the year, as long as you don't lose four games in seven, you're
00:49:03 fine.
00:49:04 And the Celtics have taken care of business so far, done a good job.
00:49:07 I'm confident we'll see what they can do.
00:49:09 It's obviously not going to be a walk in the park.
00:49:11 Joe Mazzullo said takes what it takes.
00:49:12 And I think that's the important mindset to have at this time of the year.
00:49:15 So also ignore my washed out lighting for the NBA section YouTube viewers.
00:49:20 I'm just sitting back.
00:49:21 I'm sitting back a little bit.
00:49:22 Anyways, I'm enjoying enjoying putting your feet up.
00:49:25 I am.
00:49:26 All right, let's go to the NBA.
00:49:27 Let's start with Wolves Nuggets, the Nuggets who were alive and then dead again a little
00:49:32 bit.
00:49:33 Three, three.
00:49:34 They can't decide whether they want to be dead or alive.
00:49:37 I'm getting sick and tired of this Nuggets team.
00:49:40 When the Nuggets lose, they lose bad.
00:49:41 They are 70 points or an NBA game.
00:49:43 The game is lost by 45 fucking points in game six.
00:49:47 Speaking of forty five and had forty five.
00:49:49 Right.
00:49:50 Did you have forty five?
00:49:51 Did you have forty five in the game or they just kept plastering the forty five number
00:49:53 because that was the score difference?
00:49:55 Maybe maybe I just saw forty five.
00:49:56 We were Anthony Edwards had Germero, please.
00:50:00 Let's see.
00:50:01 Let's take a Germeros too soon.
00:50:03 No, I lied.
00:50:04 He had twenty seven.
00:50:05 I just saw forty five somewhere else.
00:50:06 He had twenty seven.
00:50:07 McDaniel said twenty one.
00:50:08 Carly Townsend, Regal Bear combined for twenty seven rebounds.
00:50:17 And then Yokich decided to score twenty two and nine of nineteen and nobody else helped
00:50:22 him.
00:50:23 Jamal Murray was four of eighteen.
00:50:26 You know, it's a rough game when you can just get an assist.
00:50:29 Yep, he only had to or no yet to yikes.
00:50:36 He's probably heated after.
00:50:38 I know he's probably he seems like a good teammate guy, but, you know, inside he was
00:50:41 like, come on, man, trying to watch the horses on Sunday.
00:50:46 You think Denver gets done seven?
00:50:50 I think so.
00:50:51 You do.
00:50:52 It's really weird to be like, yeah, I think that team that lost by forty five is good
00:50:55 for a game seven win.
00:50:57 But I don't know, their game is just typically so under control.
00:51:02 One thing you can point out is I don't think Murray has been great in this playoff run.
00:51:05 Yes.
00:51:06 Had a lot of inefficient games.
00:51:07 He's made big shots.
00:51:08 I heard a little bit of people kind of pat him on the back and the injury factors into
00:51:12 it as well.
00:51:14 But if the Nuggets are going to be firing at all cylinders, these guys have to make
00:51:19 shots.
00:51:20 That's the whole draw of Yokich is you can't commit a double to him because he's going
00:51:23 to find the right guy who's going to make the open look.
00:51:25 The open looks aren't going in.
00:51:26 You can double them.
00:51:27 You can make all the aggressive defensive plays.
00:51:29 They were on the other hand, seven, seven to thirty six from three, 19 percent.
00:51:35 Brutal.
00:51:36 And they don't even shoot a lot of threes.
00:51:38 That's one thing about Denver is they do a great job of cutting off of him and getting
00:51:41 to the spot so they can make the easy ones instead of having to rely on the thirty percent
00:51:45 from the floor.
00:51:47 Thirty percent from the floor.
00:51:48 Twenty thirty percent from the floor is not going to be twenty six of eighty six.
00:51:52 Throw up in your mouth stuff.
00:51:53 Meanwhile, on the other end.
00:51:57 Mike Conley comes back and everyone's like, yeah, this guy is the reason why the Timberwolves
00:52:00 run.
00:52:01 Yep.
00:52:02 And Mike Conley has been a this is why the team is playing well guy for the last couple
00:52:07 of seasons.
00:52:08 Like remember when he was in Utah and Utah kind of got off to that.
00:52:11 Oh, my God.
00:52:12 They're above five hundred start.
00:52:14 And then they traded him because they obviously didn't want to be very good or he got hurt
00:52:18 and then things kind of fell off.
00:52:20 And then they traded him to Minnesota.
00:52:22 Well, it turns out when you plug that guy back in the lineup, his decision making and
00:52:27 somewhat defense, they still able to play at his old age help.
00:52:30 And then you have Ant who's a psychopath and apparently.
00:52:33 Well, you know, he fell on his ass in this game.
00:52:36 So we actually don't know if that's going to affect him.
00:52:38 He fell on his tailbone pretty.
00:52:39 He hurt.
00:52:40 OK, I mean, he still played and stuff, but it took him a while.
00:52:44 It took him a commercial.
00:52:45 You know, you know, all the people that were like this all looks sort of so easy.
00:52:49 What the heck?
00:52:51 It's in some hypothetical world out there.
00:52:55 It's Pacers Mavs in the next two rounds.
00:53:00 Can to be in the finals.
00:53:08 The team, they smoke the Mavs this year.
00:53:10 They killed him, smoked him twice.
00:53:14 Yeah.
00:53:15 KP gets his revenge.
00:53:18 Get fat, fuck Luca, breathing heavy, bitching at the refs, man.
00:53:23 Yeah, I sent you the graphic of, you know how NBA does the highlights on YouTube and
00:53:30 they have like the two faces, whoever scored the most on the graphic.
00:53:32 And it's just somebody did fat face to him and Jokic.
00:53:35 And they're like, we're so close, so close.
00:53:41 But yeah, I think we forgot to put the NBA background on.
00:53:43 I realized that at the exact same time.
00:53:45 I think the Nuggets a win in seven, but we shall see.
00:53:48 Speaking of Mavs, Mavs Thunder Mavs have taken a three to lead.
00:53:52 By the time you're hearing this, that game, it will either be serious tide or Mavs up
00:53:57 because the game is tonight.
00:54:00 As we're recording this, I think the Mavs win the series.
00:54:04 Yeah, it feels like that feels like the inexperience is catching up to Casey.
00:54:10 It just feels like even though coming into the series, I really felt like they had the
00:54:15 depth to kind of hang with Dallas.
00:54:16 Dallas is getting some good production out of the other guys, and that's moving the needle.
00:54:21 I mean, PJ Washington has been unbelievable in this playoff series, and it's really helping
00:54:25 them get past whole playoffs.
00:54:27 Okay, see, in case he lost a home game, lost two home games now as a one seed.
00:54:31 It just is a good environment.
00:54:33 Yeah, it's really like, okay, see, is missing one more piece.
00:54:37 Like, like they had to bench Josh Giddy because it wasn't like the shooting was holding the
00:54:42 back.
00:54:43 I know Joe in, but I know Joe, if it's going to shoot or he is, it's like, it's not the
00:54:47 best.
00:54:48 Like, it feels like they really fumbled a chance at this deadline, like not doing anything.
00:54:51 Hayward's been asked.
00:54:52 Hayward's about to break a record for most minutes played in the playoffs without a point.
00:54:55 Oh, yikes.
00:54:56 Sounds like another person.
00:54:57 I know you.
00:54:58 Oh, me.
00:54:59 Oh, yeah.
00:55:00 I have a score.
00:55:01 I was like, what?
00:55:02 I think Luke could play a good game five, if I remember correctly.
00:55:13 I feel like they can get the stunt.
00:55:16 I feel like I don't know if it'll be tonight or game seven, but if you're okay, see, it
00:55:19 doesn't really help that Jalen Williams is J Dub is shooting 40.8% from the field.
00:55:25 31% from three when he was one of the main offensive pillars you had this season.
00:55:29 Chet 25% from three in this series.
00:55:32 Josh Giddy, 21% from three in this series.
00:55:34 Like Babs defense has been cooking low key.
00:55:37 Like they've been good.
00:55:38 They've been all about getting his at an efficient clip.
00:55:40 I think he's less efficient than he was in the regular season because he was like 54%
00:55:44 from the field, but he's still right around 50% from the field, 46% from three.
00:55:50 The rest of these guys, they're going to make shots.
00:55:53 A lot of them do not look like they want to take jumpers.
00:55:55 It's tough, man.
00:55:58 It's tough.
00:55:59 Anyways, next thing the Cavs are deceased.
00:56:03 So after the Celtics beat them in the second round of the playoffs, Shams had an article
00:56:08 ready one saying that they like JV Vickers staff, so he'll probably stay, but also saying
00:56:14 that no, I thought they're going to have to reevaluate whether he's going to coach a team
00:56:18 in the coming days.
00:56:19 Oh, maybe.
00:56:21 But I know there was a tweet that came out right after the game and said they like him.
00:56:24 Okay.
00:56:25 Because I saw I saw that they may have to reevaluate.
00:56:27 And I was like, maybe they will.
00:56:29 They definitely will.
00:56:30 How is any of this on him?
00:56:33 They think they can resign Donovan Mitchell, but at the same time, if Donovan Mitchell
00:56:37 does resign, Darius Garland will want to leave.
00:56:39 So there's that Brian Windhorse is reporting that they are going to look to shop Jared
00:56:44 Allen as well.
00:56:45 It's a mess.
00:56:46 It's it's they're they're a mess.
00:56:50 They're over.
00:56:51 It's over in Cleveland.
00:56:52 The Cavs, who every time you do a two case and win like five championships.
00:56:55 Oh, yeah.
00:56:56 They're nasty.
00:56:57 It's okay.
00:56:58 Yeah, they're very scarlet.
00:56:59 It's like the greatest two K player in the Sims of all time.
00:57:03 He apparently doesn't want to be on this team anymore.
00:57:06 Is it like, oh, maybe I'll go get traded and play with one B thing.
00:57:09 Doesn't make sense.
00:57:10 I feel like Darius Garland doesn't have the power right now to be like, I don't want to
00:57:13 be on this team anymore.
00:57:14 Like, I don't know.
00:57:15 You just played like shit in the playoffs.
00:57:17 I don't think everybody's clamoring to be like, ah, give us that Garland guy.
00:57:21 I think I'm going to come to Spurs from the Spurs.
00:57:23 I want them.
00:57:24 That's nasty.
00:57:25 Yeah.
00:57:26 I mean, they're they're in like a it's going to be teams like the Spurs.
00:57:30 It's not going to be teams that think they need one more guy.
00:57:32 I do think Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland is a pretty.
00:57:37 Small back.
00:57:38 We're very tiny.
00:57:39 Yeah, a little bit.
00:57:41 Just like I don't love Mobley, Jared Allen.
00:57:44 Like, I don't know.
00:57:45 It's just not a good example of Rich Paul and the boys getting their grubby hands over
00:57:50 an NBA team.
00:57:51 I just think they threw it together so hastily, like I would have rather them just rock with
00:57:55 Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jared Allen, let that blossom a little bit and then get
00:57:58 a piece if they could compliment them.
00:57:59 And I respect them for going for it and they made a couple of playoffs, but they have what
00:58:03 one playoff series win in two years because of it just doesn't feel like where they wanted
00:58:08 to be after two seasons, especially with Donovan Mitchell's future, like riding on it, riding
00:58:13 on their success.
00:58:14 And I'm not saying they needed to win a championship, but like the Easter Conference Finals birth
00:58:17 would have been nice or at least winning a playoff series in both years.
00:58:20 You know, I'm saying showing the progress and injures got in the way.
00:58:24 But it's just it doesn't feel like it's conducive.
00:58:27 There was this part of the report or I think Chris Fedor put it out from the athletic.
00:58:33 Yeah.
00:58:34 And was like, hey, tensions are weird with Mitchell in the locker room.
00:58:37 And he was like, nope, no, they're not.
00:58:39 Yeah.
00:58:40 Chris Fedor's Cleveland.
00:58:41 I think he's Cleveland dot com.
00:58:42 But he said, no, you're good.
00:58:44 I just I think I remember that.
00:58:45 And yeah, Mitchell tweeted out this is cap that he was mad there with, you know, the
00:58:50 immaturity of the locker room, I think was how it phrased.
00:58:53 So they're dead.
00:58:55 Sounds like the other star that was in Cleveland for a while.
00:58:58 Mm hmm.
00:59:00 There you go.
00:59:03 Last thing for NBA inside the NBA, Sam, you think it's not dead and I think it is dead.
00:59:10 Yes.
00:59:11 So if you don't know, there's a ton of negotiations happening now.
00:59:16 There are reports trickling out that Turner is dead.
00:59:19 Turner is not going to have the NBA going forward.
00:59:21 It's going to be NBC.
00:59:24 And with that, you lose inside the NBA and inside the NBA will not be the studio show
00:59:30 anymore.
00:59:31 However, I feel like whatever network it does happen to be, NBC, Amazon, something because
00:59:38 there's all this talk about streaming services getting in all the fun is still going to have
00:59:43 a studio show.
00:59:44 Charles Barkley is going to get paid.
00:59:46 Kenny Smith will get paid.
00:59:47 Shaq will get paid.
00:59:49 Ernie is the question mark.
00:59:50 And Ernie is an absolute massive part of this show.
00:59:53 He's the point guard.
00:59:56 He's pulling the strings.
00:59:57 He's the host, obviously.
00:59:59 But you're still going to have some variation of the show.
01:00:03 It's not completely dead.
01:00:04 It might not be the same.
01:00:05 So it doesn't sound like Ernie wants to leave Turner.
01:00:09 Yeah.
01:00:10 May indicate why.
01:00:11 May 3rd on the Dan Patrick show, Charles Barkley said Charles Barkley told us that if TNT loses
01:00:18 the NBA TV rights, he'll become a free agent.
01:00:20 He's unsure about inside the NBA moving forward to another network because the show wouldn't
01:00:25 be the same without Ernie Johnson.
01:00:27 Ernie said he isn't leaving Turner.
01:00:28 A decision is expected today.
01:00:30 And I'm pretty sure it sounds like NBC is going to win that battle.
01:00:33 That sounds to me like I'm open to the idea.
01:00:36 But like if Ernie's not there, I'm just going to be a free agent and do whatever who pays
01:00:40 me the most.
01:00:41 And maybe it somebody pays a lot of money for him, Kenny and Shaq to stay together.
01:00:46 But maybe one, you know, network throws a lot of Shaq.
01:00:49 Maybe one throws a lot of Charles.
01:00:51 Maybe one throws.
01:00:52 You know, I'm saying like, especially without powering them, the three guys in terms of
01:00:58 who will get the most money, just who's best on air, best on air.
01:01:03 Who do you think is the best to listen to?
01:01:06 Yeah, Chuck.
01:01:07 Chuck's funny.
01:01:08 And then Shaq and then sorry, Kenny.
01:01:09 You think Kenny's last?
01:01:10 I think Shaq's just miserable.
01:01:12 Oh, really?
01:01:13 I think anytime you see Shaq, it's just I this guy would have never made it in my day
01:01:19 from an entertainment value.
01:01:20 I think Shaq's better.
01:01:21 I think if you're talking like real analysis, then it's a different question.
01:01:25 But sorry, I had to cough.
01:01:30 It's just not the same without Ernie.
01:01:31 Like, it's just not going to be the same without every constant.
01:01:33 And so I think if Ernie is not leaving with them inside, the NBA is dead.
01:01:38 I never said this version, at least.
01:01:41 I wonder who else they could plug in.
01:01:43 Not what's the guy's name?
01:01:45 The guy who does it from time to time when he's not there.
01:01:48 I forget his name.
01:01:49 Lefkoe?
01:01:50 Yeah, Adam Lefkoe.
01:01:51 He's good.
01:01:52 I like him.
01:01:53 He's cool.
01:01:54 But he's still like part of Turner.
01:01:55 I mean, I'm sure somebody else would be like, come work for us.
01:01:57 He'd be like, OK, what other hosts would be great?
01:02:00 I don't know, man.
01:02:02 NBC have anybody?
01:02:03 They don't have a lot of games.
01:02:05 I don't know.
01:02:07 I don't know.
01:02:09 Anyway, Brian Anderson gone.
01:02:15 Are we back?
01:02:16 Somebody will hire us.
01:02:17 You know, I'll I'll say this.
01:02:18 I don't think Brian Anderson's very good.
01:02:21 Whoever they had on these games in the conference finals was atrocious.
01:02:26 Who was it?
01:02:27 It was Greg Anthony and some other guy.
01:02:28 He was it was definitely like team for like it was it was the team.
01:02:33 Greg Anthony was at TNT.
01:02:36 Yeah.
01:02:37 Let me see.
01:02:38 Greg, you get a little too excited for some Cavs baskets in Game five, by the way.
01:02:44 Say that again.
01:02:45 He's getting a little too excited for some of these baskets in Game five from Cleveland.
01:02:50 Michael Grady, does that sound right to you?
01:02:52 No, that's not him.
01:02:54 Oh.
01:02:55 All right.
01:02:56 Um.
01:02:57 Uh.
01:02:58 Let me look at announcers, because now I want to know, I'm curious, so bear with me.
01:03:02 Yeah.
01:03:03 I'm just going to go to announcer schedules on Twitter and scroll back to Celtics Cavs
01:03:07 game.
01:03:08 Um, I remember seeing clips and it was in the voice that I didn't recognize.
01:03:15 So I suppose that makes some sense, but I just don't know who it was.
01:03:21 Probably just a product of me hitting everything that's different, but probably Sparrow Didi
01:03:29 Sparrow Dennis.
01:03:30 Yeah, that's him.
01:03:31 Not good.
01:03:32 Was not.
01:03:33 All right.
01:03:34 Noted.
01:03:35 All right.
01:03:36 Shall we go to the rest?
01:03:37 We can go to the rest.
01:03:38 Would you like to start?
01:03:39 Yeah, that's the wrong background.
01:03:40 Here we go.
01:03:41 We do ratless.
01:03:42 Alice's movie I saw, so I'm not going to spoil anything in the movie.
01:03:43 I went to see the movie just straight.
01:03:44 It's called Strange Chapter one.
01:03:45 So I suppose this might make sense.
01:03:46 But the movie just ends on a cliffhanger.
01:03:47 So I'm not going to spoil anything in the movie.
01:03:48 I went to see the movie.
01:03:49 I'm not going to spoil anything in the movie.
01:03:50 I went to see the movie.
01:03:51 I'm not going to spoil anything in the movie.
01:03:52 I went to see the movie.
01:03:53 I'm not going to spoil anything in the movie.
01:03:54 I went to see the movie.
01:03:55 I went to see the movie.
01:03:56 I went to see the movie.
01:03:57 I went to see the movie.
01:03:58 I went to see the movie.
01:03:59 I went to see the movie.
01:04:00 I went to see the movie.
01:04:01 I went to see the movie.
01:04:02 I went to see the movie.
01:04:03 I went to see the movie.
01:04:04 I went to see the movie.
01:04:05 I went to see the movie.
01:04:06 I went to see the movie.
01:04:07 I went to see the movie.
01:04:08 I went to see the movie.
01:04:09 I went to see the movie.
01:04:10 I went to see the movie.
01:04:11 I went to see the movie.
01:04:12 I went to see the movie.
01:04:13 I went to see the movie.
01:04:14 I went to see the movie.
01:04:15 I went to see the movie.
01:04:16 I went to see the movie.
01:04:17 I went to see the movie.
01:04:18 I went to see the movie.
01:04:19 I went to see the movie.
01:04:20 I went to see the movie.
01:04:26 People probably go to see a Part 2 than a sequel, if there's a cliffhanger. Unfortunately. I agree with you.
01:04:32 There's no resolution. I was like, "What the fuck?"
01:04:35 That is very... That is whack. I do think that. I disagree. I want to know what was going on.
01:04:39 You just got no hints. I got hit with that on a TV show the other day.
01:04:43 Yeah, but TV shows are different. TV, unless it was the end of the season. But even then, it's meant to be, like, watch the next episode.
01:04:49 I know, but now I got to wait a week. And I'm not going to... I know I'm not going to watch it next week. I'm going to forget.
01:04:54 I'm just never going to know. But... Whatever.
01:04:58 Uh, Rattles the Rain. I went out golfing today. It wasn't supposed to rain. It rained the whole time.
01:05:04 Miserable. It was genuinely the least fun I've had golfing since I was a kid.
01:05:08 Horrible. Terrible experience. I was freezing. It was a terrible day. I played like shit. I couldn't hit the ball.
01:05:15 Oh my god, it was awful.
01:05:17 Do you have to pay to go?
01:05:19 No, I paid when I got there. We still went out.
01:05:22 Why would you go? Because it was supposed to pass. The rain was supposed to pass.
01:05:25 It was supposed to pass the whole fucking day. And once we were out there...
01:05:27 Well, also, why would I still go? When else am I supposed to golf?
01:05:30 I don't have any other fucking time to do it. So I'm going to take advantage.
01:05:33 When I have the one free day of two week span to do something with my friends.
01:05:39 But it just rained the whole time. It was fucking terrible.
01:05:43 I love that you texted me and you were like, "Terrible time. Rain. Playing like ass. Gonna snap a club."
01:05:50 Almost snapped a club, I did.
01:05:51 Almost snapped a club.
01:05:52 Almost did. Almost did. I couldn't control myself though. So, sorry.
01:05:56 Terrible.
01:05:59 I'm going to do Rattles. I mean, Rattles being sick. I like being sick, but this is a bad day
01:06:08 for me to be sick. Because I had things to do. Plans later that I really don't want to back out
01:06:14 on because I kind of made them. Had to do the show. Not that doing the show is difficult. All
01:06:20 you got to do is sit in a chair. But I would have laid down, watched a movie all day. I also wanted
01:06:25 to run today. Probably would have went out if it didn't rain. But my sickness was like, "Maybe
01:06:30 don't go out in the rain." There's that wrinkle to it.
01:06:33 Bonus Rattles. Rattles, I'm sick and tired of the national takes just like Phyllis.
01:06:39 I'm sick and tired of people talking about Celtics. I don't know. You have a whole Celtics beat.
01:06:44 And I know that halftime shows have to talk about something. But if you're a casual fan,
01:06:51 you want to learn more, listen to shows like this, or Locked On with Jon, or Still Possible,
01:06:56 or First to the Floor. All these people are watching every game at every single game.
01:07:01 They're surrounding the team. That's where you should get your information from, your opinions,
01:07:06 your takes. We're paying attention. Those people aren't paying attention. It's just remarkable to
01:07:11 me that some of these people... I get there is a value to being experienced, having sources.
01:07:17 Woad should be on the shows. But you want people that are credible, but they don't watch the games.
01:07:23 They don't actually do the work. Stephen A is a great personality, but he clearly isn't paying
01:07:29 that much attention. Knicks fans don't even like Stephen A. Really? They hate him. That's funny.
01:07:38 I'm going to double down on my Rattlesnake of the Rain. One thing that happens with the rain
01:07:42 is the ground gets very wet. I'm driving a golf cart. I drive up the hill.
01:07:48 Going down the hill, brakes did not work. Oh no! So I'm going down, and I'm starting to swim,
01:08:00 driving, driving. And I just go like this. Ready? YouTube listeners, get it. I go...
01:08:05 Cart turns 360. I'm going backwards now. I go, "Mike, watch out!" Because Mike's cart is directly
01:08:12 behind us. Wham! Just right into the other cart. Everything was fine. Nothing broke. It was all
01:08:17 good. We were all okay. But it was like... That 10 seconds? Terrified. I shook. I was like, "Oh my
01:08:26 God." And luckily, Mike's cart was there. Because if Mike's cart wasn't there, we would have flipped.
01:08:29 Like our cart would have flipped. It was so bad. It was so dangerous. And I texted the group chat,
01:08:34 like, "Be careful. Don't go up hills. The brakes don't work because of how wet it is. Just be
01:08:41 careful." And they just laugh at me, which is fair. And I go, "I know it's funny. And yes,
01:08:47 but I'm very serious." You could see our skin marks. They made the shape of a DNA strand
01:08:51 because we went 360. And my friend Brian, who wasn't there, he goes, "Jack, stop, dude. I'm
01:08:56 crying. Did you guys exchange insurance?" I'm like, "Fuck you, man." But I rattles that, dude.
01:09:02 I was so scared. In hindsight, it's funny, but I was shook.
01:09:06 Neck brace, Jack, would have been a hilarious visual.
01:09:11 Maybe I'll get a neck brace. We're all right. We're all right.
01:09:15 We'll get a neck brace. It was very scary.
01:09:16 I'm in a rat list. I've bitched about this before, and it hasn't happened to the Celtics yet,
01:09:22 so I'm not that upset with it. But if your team loses game six, don't do the best words in sports
01:09:29 game seven. You don't want to be playing game seven. People do that?
01:09:33 There are people that do it. There are people that do it when the Celtics lose,
01:09:36 so there are people doing it. Celtics lose game six, and you're like, "Well, best words in sports
01:09:41 game seven. No, shut the team account. Did it two years ago. It's my pinned tweet." I was like,
01:09:45 "No, this is wrong. You lost game six." Are you going to rat list the dressing for
01:09:50 a funeral mix? Yes. I can't believe I forgot about that.
01:09:53 I tweeted it this morning. Has dressing for a funeral ever worked?
01:09:58 Not with Celtics wearing black uniforms. Guys showing up to the game as a team,
01:10:03 all wearing black street clothes. I don't think it's ever worked.
01:10:05 I don't know, but the Celtics did it in game seven against the Wizards, I believe.
01:10:10 No, they did it in game six against the Wizards, and they lost.
01:10:14 I think they did it again in game seven or something. The only reason I say that-
01:10:17 No, no. If you do it to a game seven, you have brain damage. You're just throwing up the alley
01:10:21 hoop to get- The only reason I know is because now
01:10:23 whenever they play the Wizards, Taylor Chaneau wears a full suit, black suit, because it's funny.
01:10:28 That's the only reason I know. Shout out, Taylor.
01:10:30 Taylor Snow can get a pass. Taylor's funny. I love Taylor.
01:10:35 Nick's wearing all black to that game yesterday. Grinch.
01:10:37 Happy they lost. I mean, as always, happy they lost.
01:10:41 See you later. It's like somebody chanting, "We won Boston." Doesn't work.
01:10:44 Didn't get to watch the game live, checking the score in the theater. It did put a smile on my
01:10:49 face. Speaking of that-
01:10:51 You sent the Bing Bong guy. Yeah, I hate the Bing Bong guy.
01:10:55 Fuck that guy. Hope he had a horrible night yesterday or Saturday or Friday, whatever day.
01:10:59 Speaking of Thanos, Celtics, I hope they don't have to do that. I'll do it myself
01:11:03 to take out the Knicks. What do you mean?
01:11:05 There's a post-cred scene where Thanos grabs the glove and he's like, "I'll do it myself."
01:11:11 Hope they don't have to do that to get rid of the Knicks.
01:11:13 Oh, you hope they just lose? I see, I see, I see.
01:11:15 Yeah. I just think it would be funnier that way.
01:11:18 I'm going to rat list myself. Sam, thoughts on Geese?
01:11:23 [laughter]
01:11:27 Do you know where my mind immediately went? Different, different animal. The episode of
01:11:31 Curb Where Larry Kills the Swan, playing golf. That's fun.
01:11:34 Yeah, I hate geese.
01:11:35 Did you have that today?
01:11:36 I hate geese.
01:11:37 You kill a geese, a goose?
01:11:39 I didn't kill the goose, but I step off-
01:11:42 Did you whack it?
01:11:43 My pitching wedge, instead of going really high, I missed it and so it bladed and it went really
01:11:48 straight. Hit a goose.
01:11:51 You hit a goose?
01:11:52 I hit a goose. I don't know if I got the wing or the leg, but it limped off and you just hear,
01:11:58 "Ah, ah!" As it's limping across the fairway. Couldn't fly. I felt-
01:12:03 Wait till I tell PETA about this.
01:12:04 I felt so bad. Because I just sit here and you get limped off. And I hate geese.
01:12:10 I got those little legs too.
01:12:12 I hate geese, but I smoked that one.
01:12:16 Jack Smoan, asshole and swan killer, or geese killer.
01:12:19 I didn't hit it in the body. I think I got the leg of the wing because it walked off.
01:12:23 All right, it was just limping. But I felt bad. It was bad.
01:12:28 Also, to ramble on myself again, I broke Henry's driver last night.
01:12:31 We went to a driving range and I swing it normally.
01:12:36 Snap. Snaps. Hits me in the head. I had to buy a new one this morning.
01:12:40 Terrible 24 hours for me.
01:12:42 Crashed a golf cart, killed a goose, broke Henry-
01:12:44 Didn't kill a goose. Hit a goose.
01:12:46 Broke Henry's driver. Had to buy him a new one.
01:12:49 Disaster. Fucking terrible. Fucking terrible.
01:12:53 Do you have anything else?
01:12:54 Um, I feel like I should. I don't.
01:12:58 I have one anti-rat list. Thoughts on blueberry donuts at Dunkin?
01:13:01 We've talked about this. Great donut.
01:13:03 They have blueberry donut iced coffee now.
01:13:06 It is the best coffee at Dunkin Donuts.
01:13:11 A lot of these local coffee places have blueberry coffee cake flavor,
01:13:15 like a brewed flavor. It's fine.
01:13:16 Blueberry. No, no. Blueberry coffee. Dunkin Donuts coffee.
01:13:19 It literally like, it's the donut. It like, bar for par.
01:13:23 I was so fucking good. I was just sipping during golf.
01:13:26 It was like the one thing keeping me alive.
01:13:28 I will say, best shower I've ever taken in my life when I got home.
01:13:32 The warmth and the car ride home with the warm.
01:13:34 I was fucking freezing.
01:13:37 I, I, I like halfway through or like a little before halfway through the round,
01:13:42 I like had to take my, my quarter zip off.
01:13:44 Cause like it was so drenched that it was making me colder.
01:13:48 And so I was in a t-shirt.
01:13:49 I was about to buy a bunch of shit there.
01:13:51 And like, I forgot a hat. Didn't bring a hat.
01:13:53 Didn't bring any shoes cause mine are terrible.
01:13:54 Bought a bunch of shit. Disaster.
01:13:56 Uh, I, I went in, I had to buy shoes, balls, um, and a glove.
01:14:02 Cause I, everything, like all my shit, I was like, you know what?
01:14:03 All my stuff's like super old. I'm just going to re-up.
01:14:05 It's fine. Um, re-up and everything.
01:14:07 This guy was like, I should sell you a Mercedes too.
01:14:10 All I'm at it. Jesus Christ. He was making fun of me.
01:14:12 And then I had to go back in cause I forgot a hat.
01:14:14 Dude just laughs at me. He goes, because he saw my ass.
01:14:16 Cause they welcome back.
01:14:18 You should really, is there like a discount?
01:14:19 Like a deal where I spend over $2 million and get something for free?
01:14:23 It's tough.
01:14:24 Rat list. Um, rat list, Devin.
01:14:28 So we played Emily the show today.
01:14:30 Go up.
01:14:30 We played against these two kids that were, um.
01:14:35 Sad.
01:14:38 And the kids were like,
01:14:42 I don't think we can say that on YouTube.
01:14:44 Okay.
01:14:45 I will.
01:14:45 I think that's like one of two words we're not allowed to say.
01:14:49 Oh wait. Oh, like we can't say that on CLNS.
01:14:51 I don't even know about CLNS, but.
01:14:54 Oh, Henry heard me telling a story.
01:14:56 This is his driver.
01:14:57 The paint stripped on the driver.
01:15:02 It was how bad it was.
01:15:03 Thanks Henry.
01:15:03 Um, anyways.
01:15:05 Sorry, continue.
01:15:05 Yeah.
01:15:06 The kids were like spamming the button.
01:15:08 So they were up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down.
01:15:10 They were pausing.
01:15:12 They were doing all of it.
01:15:14 Made us watch a replay on a home run.
01:15:15 So we give up two runs.
01:15:16 The first thing the way MLB, the show co-op works is you alternate pitching.
01:15:20 Every inning.
01:15:21 Devin was the host.
01:15:22 He pitched first thing, third inning and so on on the odd numbers.
01:15:25 So he pitched first and he gives up two runs.
01:15:26 We were on a heater, six first inning runs from us to three run home runs for me.
01:15:34 I may have played my biggest, greatest MLB, the show game ever.
01:15:37 Like I made it may have totaled for like at least 15 of our 20 runs.
01:15:42 Wow.
01:15:42 I'm gonna say it again.
01:15:43 20 runs.
01:15:44 That's crazy.
01:15:45 Now the reason he's on the rat list is because he may have totaled at least 15 to 16 of the
01:15:52 opponent's runs as the pitcher.
01:15:54 We were up, I want to say 10 to three, went down, took a lead.
01:16:02 We're now up 17 to 13.
01:16:06 We blow the lead in the top of the ninth, 18, 17.
01:16:12 I hit two home runs in the bottom of the ninth when the game,
01:16:14 it was the most wild rollercoaster game.
01:16:19 This man and he, he was, he felt bad.
01:16:21 Like he, he, he did.
01:16:23 And it really doesn't matter if we won the game.
01:16:25 It doesn't count for a record.
01:16:26 Two strikes taken deep for a three run home run to fall behind within the top of the ninth.
01:16:34 We're about to win the game.
01:16:36 Last matter.
01:16:37 Are you, how mad are you?
01:16:38 I wasn't as mad.
01:16:40 He was mad.
01:16:41 He was here, and then he like spike something silent for the rest of the inning.
01:16:46 He was like, yeah, I spiked like my headset.
01:16:48 How high was it when you all won the game though?
01:16:52 He was like, thank you so much.
01:16:54 Yeah, that is so sick.
01:16:57 I was on a heater.
01:16:58 I don't think I've ever played that well.
01:16:59 Look at this shit, dude.
01:17:01 And it didn't even like this driver.
01:17:03 It didn't even like, this is the base.
01:17:05 It didn't even snap there.
01:17:06 It snapped like in the middle of the shaft.
01:17:08 Like crazy.
01:17:09 I've never seen another one like a paint strip down.
01:17:11 All right.
01:17:13 Anyways, you have any other list?
01:17:16 No, I think that's it.
01:17:19 All righty.
