00:00She was picked up by an officer.
00:01He said that he had seen her just wandering the streets
00:04and she was full of milk, but there were no puppies around.
00:08She was a little shy.
00:09He lured her with a donut from Dunkin' Donuts.
00:12Buck Hegan in Illinois is unfortunately known
00:14for backyard breeders.
00:15So the assumption is that she was used as a breeding dog
00:19and whether she got out or whether she was released,
00:21we don't know.
00:22She got put into animal control
00:24and was declining in the shelter.
00:26She was in the shelter for a few months.
00:28Eventually, Players for Pits pulled her from the shelter
00:30and she was with her foster mom for about six months.
00:33I was living with a partner who ended up passing
00:36and the idea of being alone was a little overwhelming
00:39and I was just scrolling online
00:41and once I saw her photos on Pet Finder,
00:44I knew she was my dog.
00:46I contacted Players for Pits right away
00:48and she came home to live with me in Chicago.
00:52She definitely has her own personality.
00:58The bulldog is very strong with her.
01:00She's very opinionated.
01:02My schedule gets really crazy
01:03and she's just able to get flexible
01:06and adapt to whatever it is that I need from her,
01:08which is really great.
01:17She does like marge rolls
01:18where she's rolling around in the grass and stuff.
01:24She gets a lot of attention.
01:25People have asked me about her ears.
01:27If I crop them and I always tell them no,
01:29it was whoever had her before me
01:31and before she came into the rescue.
01:42She's very stubborn when we're on walks.
01:44If she wants to go one way
01:45and I need to go a different way,
01:46she will plant herself and try her hardest to not move
01:50or go the direction that she wants to.
01:53Are we done?
01:53I get a lot of side eye from her
01:56if she doesn't like something.
01:58If I'm taking too long in the morning to get out of bed,
02:01like she will do a low growl at me
02:03in a playful way, of course,
02:04but letting me know that she's ready.
02:06She pouts a lot.
02:08If I'm doing something,
02:10she thinks that I should be giving her attention.
02:11She'll put her paws and then like push her snout
02:14into the couch or the rug or wherever she is
02:16and make it very well known
02:17that she thinks I should be doing something else.
02:20I'm very grateful for everything
02:22that she has given me in my life
02:24and there are no words for me to be able
02:26to like really explain like how I feel about her.
02:32Anybody who has gone through the loss of a loved one
02:34or the grief process kind of knows
02:36that it can come in waves
02:38and there are a lot of times
02:40that you don't know when it's gonna hit you
02:42and when it's not.
02:43So for her to be the purpose for me to keep going,
02:47I owe her a lot for that.
02:54I owe her a lot for that.
