00:00slash switch. Gator, the Red Wing front, Cain and Tarasenko speak. Any thoughts?
00:06Uh, yeah, actually, I was, um, not that we should make too much out of this, and I'm not going to
00:11make too much out of it, but at least my mood will change a little bit, and I get more encouraged
00:16when you hear players talk about how much they love it here. When Patrick Cain says that,
00:21like, I love it here. I wanted to be here. It was, you know, a priority and all that, and
00:26it sounds great. Like, he's got so, it sounds like he's got so much left in the tank,
00:31even though it's a one-year contract, and maybe this is the plan. Hey, we'll go, we'll go year
00:35by year with you, Patrick. You know, as long as you're still producing and we think that we can
00:40pay you a certain amount, we'll keep it going. All right, well, the re-up for a year, and that
00:45sounds great, and then Tarasenko was waiting on the line, or I think he went first before Patrick
00:52Cain, and he's like, like, joking around, hey, let's get this over. I don't want Patrick to be
00:56angry, you know, we're going to get to him late, and he was joking about it, but apparently his
01:00wife had contacted Cain's girlfriend and asked about, you know, what's it like in Detroit,
01:05and he, because he had started to inquire about it before the Red Wings got in touch with Tarasenko,
01:10and then Eisenman, I guess, had talked to Patrick Cain about Tarasenko, because the two played
01:14briefly together with the Rangers, but all in all, Tarasenko's like, yeah, this is where I want
01:19to be here too, and I'm all, I don't play this game not to win, I play this game to win, and he
01:24was speaking in glowing terms of Cain, and it got me thinking, like, these two guys, and Cain said
01:32the same thing about Tarasenko, if these two guys play together, I mean, that could be a really
01:38interesting line, Cain and Tarasenko on the wings with whomever at center, that could be really
01:43interesting, because Tarasenko is a multi 30 goal scorer, he scored 40 in this league, he's a couple
01:48of years ago, he's a couple of years removed from having a 30 goal season, last two years, he split
01:54times with different teams, because he got traded, and may have upset things a little bit, but he's
02:00still, what, he had 28 goals last year, 23 goals last year, whatever the number was, Patrick Cain
02:06looks fantastic on the ice and passing the puck, he needs a guy who's going to shoot on, you know,
02:12the other wing or at center, you know, playing along with him, and Tarasenko can be that guy,
02:16these two guys combined, I mean, can they, if they're on the same line, is it possible to get 60
02:22goals between them? So it's interesting, because Max Bultman, the athletic, took his first crack at
02:27the line combinations, and it looks so different than last year, like, it feels like they've
02:35kind of spun their wheels a little bit, but the first two lines, the first top line is Debrinket,
02:40Larkin, and Raymond, the second line is Tarasenko, Kompfer, and Cain, Rasmussen, Kopp, and Christian
02:46Fisher, the third line, Bergeron, Valeno, and Mott, the fourth line, who knows how these things shake
02:52out, and which youngsters might crack the, actually crack the roster, but those top two lines look
02:58like they'll be able to put the puck in the net. Yeah, and you look at that as the weak link, is it
03:02Kompfer, well, you know, Kompfer certainly has more to give than we've seen, but back here, yeah,
03:10but I'm encouraged. Yep. Now, there's also some discussion about whether or not Nate Danielson
03:18gets a shot. Danielson or Kasper, yeah. Carter Mazer. Carter Mazer's another one. Could get a
03:25shot. When those guys, you know, go and go to Traverse City and earn a spot, I remember the
03:32excitement that Lucas Raymond brought to the table when he did, it would certainly be awesome
03:38if Danielson, Kasper, or Mazer got that opportunity. Yeah, and don't sleep on Soderblom.
03:45Remember, he made that, his mark in training camp and in the preseason, and was playing on the team
03:51to start the season, and, you know, he's still around. It hasn't gone anywhere, and still big
03:58guy, but I feel like there, with guys like Fisher and Mott, definitely role players, right? But
04:07those are players that can be, tend to be interchanged, you know, with bringing somebody
04:11else in. Although, it feels like if you're going to bring in Kasper or Danielson, that you're
04:16bringing them in to play full-time minutes. That you're not bringing them into, you know, on the
04:20roster to be a scratch every other game or whatever, but I feel like they're, I don't know if
04:28the offensive roster of this team is better, but I feel better about it today than I did a day ago
04:33when I'm thinking about the combination of Teresenko and Kane. These guys sound like they
04:36want to play together, and if you think about it, take a step back, they could play really well
04:43together. You know, having Patrick Kane with anybody that can finish is going to work out,
04:48you would think. Well, in the regular season last year, the Red Wings were top 10 in goals in game,
04:54and, you know, it was a pretty, pretty decent offensive team. If they're better...
05:01I don't know if they're going to score more. Yeah. They have to make up 75 goals
05:05for the players that they've lost, and that's a lot, and 22 of them come from the blue line
05:10between Wallman and Gostesper. So, that's going to be hard to make up on the blue line,
05:15but offensively, there are guys that can give more. Like, if you expect Raymond to step up his
05:20game another notch, which I don't think that's, there's anything wrong with that. He had 31 goals
05:24last year. Can he score more? Sure. Larkin only played 68 games last year, and he had 33 goals.
05:30Is Larkin going to score more if he's going to, if he's going to be healthy for 80 games or 75
05:34games? Yeah. Dabrinkit scored 27 last year. Played all 82 games. That was a disappointing year,
05:41I think, for Alex Dabrinkit to score only 27. We expect him to be in the 30 range. So,
05:46right away, your top three scorers from last year, I would expect more goals scoring from those guys.
05:53How much more is Kane going to score? How much more is,
05:56uh, is Tarasenko going to add to this team? Those are the two big names.
