Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:20The Lord be with you.
00:22Welcome to Mass, wherever you might be, we've got this beautiful day here anyway, and so
00:29we come before our God full of gratitude, wanting to bring him our thanks in this great
00:37prayer of the Eucharist, that's why it's called the Eucharist, Eucharistia in Greek, the great
00:42thanksgiving, and so we do come before our God with real gratitude, and we stand before
00:50him humbly, but confidently now, and ask his pardon.
00:57Lord, sometimes we can take your precious gift of life for granted, Lord have mercy.
01:06And Lord, sometimes we can take this beautiful world that you've given us for granted, Christ
01:14have mercy.
01:15And Lord, sometimes in our selfishness, we can take one another for granted, Lord have
01:23mercy.
01:25May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting.
01:34Let us pray.
01:41Show favour, O Lord, to your servants, and mercifully increase the gifts of your grace
01:46that may fervent in hope, faith, and charity, we may be ever watchful in keeping your commands.
01:56We ask this through Christ our Lord.
02:01The first reading today is from the prophet Micah, and it is a very beautiful reading,
02:11almost sort of giving us a look into the heart of God.
02:19With shepherds crook, O Lord, lead your people to pasture, the flock that is your heritage,
02:28having confined in a forest with meadow land all around.
02:33Let them pasture in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
02:40As in the days when you came out of Egypt, grant us to see wonders.
02:46What God can compare with you, taking fault away, pardoning crime, not cherishing anger
02:57forever, but delighting in showing mercy.
03:03Once more, have pity on us, and trim down our faults to the bottom of the sea.
03:11Throw away all our sins.
03:14Grant Jacob your faithfulness, and Abraham your mercy, as you swore to our fathers from
03:21the days long ago, the word of the Lord.
03:27And our response to this psalm is, Lord, show us your mercy and love.
03:33O Lord, you once favoured your land and revived the fortunes of Jacob.
03:39You forgave the guilt of your people and covered all their sins.
03:43You averted all your rage.
03:45You calmed the heat of your anger.
03:47Lord, show us your mercy and love.
03:51Revive us now, God our Helper.
03:54Put an end to your grievance against us.
03:57Will you be angry with us forever?
03:58Will your anger never cease?
04:01Lord, show us your mercy and love.
04:04Will you not restore again our life, that your people may rejoice in you?
04:10Let us see, O Lord, your mercy, and give us your saving help.
04:16Lord, show us your mercy and love.
04:20And we greet the Gospel, Alleluia, Alleluia.
04:23All who love me will keep my words, and my Father will love them, and we will come to
04:29them.
04:30Alleluia.
04:35The Lord be with you.
04:37A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:42Jesus was speaking to the crowds when his mother and his brothers appeared.
04:50They were standing outside and were anxious to have a word with him.
04:55But to the man who told him this, Jesus replied,
04:59Well, who is my mother?
05:01Who are my brothers?
05:03And stretching out his hand towards his disciples, he said,
05:07Here are my mother and my brothers,
05:10Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven, he is my brother and sister and mother.
05:19The Gospel of the Lord.
05:23Well, the Gospel just needs a little bit of explanation in the sense that when they're
05:34talking about his mother and his brothers, it's not his blood brothers and or blood sisters
05:43that they're talking about, but rather that whole extended family.
05:48Certainly here where I live, our indigenous friends, they would refer to one another in
06:00that way.
06:01But that would be my brother from a different mother.
06:04Their family is very close and very beautiful, but certainly in our kind of precise way we
06:15speak of it, a brother and a sister is from the same father and mother, but that's not
06:20so in the time of Christ and certainly not so among our own indigenous people here.
06:28And also, Jesus is not saying, he's not being rude to his mother or his family, but really
06:37saying all people have that relationship now with him, that we are becoming part of his
06:45family like his mother and his cousins and his relations, that we are all now his family.
06:57And of course, now we know that through baptism we are baptised into Christ, that baptism
07:05is our way into that becoming part of what Jesus is talking about, that we are all his
07:12brothers and sisters, that we are now all his family through baptism.
07:18And of course, that sense of association and nearness to Christ is so nourished with the
07:27Eucharist that we receive Jesus Christ himself.
07:31So we are indeed blessed as Catholics, incredibly blessed, blessed with the gift of faith and
07:41blessed with the unconditional, unrelenting love of God for each one of us.
07:48So, we bring before our God now all the people, the things in our life we want to ask God for.
08:03God, we ask that you grant all these our prayers that we share in our heart and we ask this
08:10through Christ our Lord.
08:17Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, through your goodness, who have received the
08:20bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us
08:25the bread of life.
08:28By the mystery of this water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ,
08:34who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
08:40Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, through your goodness, who have received the
08:50wine we offer you, fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual
08:56drink.
08:57Lord God, we ask you to receive us and be pleased with the sacrifice we offer you with
09:01humble and contrite hearts.
09:03Lord, wash away my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin.
09:10Pray now, my brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,
09:20the Almighty Father.
09:25O God, who in the one perfect sacrifice brought to completion varied offerings of the law,
09:33accept, we pray, this sacrifice from us, your faithful servants, and make it holy
09:40as you bless the gifts of Abel, so that what each is offered to the honour of your majesty
09:46may benefit the salvation of all.
09:49And we ask this through Christ our Lord.
09:53The Lord be with you.
09:55Lift up your hearts.
09:57Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
10:00It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give
10:05you thanks, Father Most Holy, through your beloved Son Jesus Christ, your Word, through
10:10whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Saviour and our Redeemer, incarnate by
10:15the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
10:18Fulfilling your will and gaining for your holy people, he stretched out his hands as
10:23he enjoyed his passion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection.
10:30And so, with the angels and saints, we declare your glory as with one voice we acclaim.
10:36Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory.
10:43Hosanna in the highest.
10:44Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
10:47Hosanna in the highest.
10:51You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
10:54Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like
10:59the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
11:05At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving
11:10thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of
11:16it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.
11:29In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks,
11:43he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this
11:48is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured
11:54out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
12:00Do this in memory of me.
12:03The mystery of faith, when we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death,
12:26O Lord, until you come again.
12:29Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you,
12:34Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held
12:38us worthy to be in your presence and to minister to you.
12:42Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into
12:48one by the Holy Spirit.
12:51Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world.
12:55Bring her to the fullness of charity.
12:58Together with Francis, our Pope, Charles, our Bishop, all the clergy, and the whole
13:04of God's people.
13:06Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
13:11and all who have died in your mercy.
13:14Welcome them into the light of your face.
13:18Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Saint
13:23Joseph, her spouse, the Blessed Apostles, and all the saints who have pleased you throughout
13:28the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through
13:35your Son, Jesus Christ.
13:38Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy
13:43Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever.
13:48And let us pray now the beautiful prayer that Jesus himself taught us to pray, as a family.
13:56Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
14:00Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
14:05Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
14:11trespass against us.
14:13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
14:17Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
14:19Graciously grant peace in our day.
14:21By the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
14:25as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
14:29Lord, for the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
14:33Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave with you.
14:37Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave with you.
14:41My peace I give you.
14:43Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church.
14:47And graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, to live and reign
14:53forever and ever.
14:55The peace of the Lord be with you always.
14:59And let us offer each other a sign of peace.
15:01Peace now, wherever you might be.
15:03Peace.
15:07Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
15:13Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
15:17Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
15:37Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
15:43Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
15:47Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof.
15:51And say the word, and my soul shall be healed.
15:55My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
16:01I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
16:06Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
16:12I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.
16:18Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
16:22Let us pray.
16:24Graciously be present to us, your people, we pray, O Lord,
16:36and lead those you have imbued with heavenly mysteries
16:42to pass from former ways to a newness of life.
16:46We ask this through Christ our Lord.
16:50The Lord be with you.
16:52May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
16:58Let us go in peace now to love and serve the Lord.
17:04Thank you, everyone. I hope you have a most blessed day.
