00:14In the San Francisco Bay Area, tucked away
00:16in a quaint Berkeley neighborhood,
00:18sits a house that is a fish out of water.

00:25That's a fish house, huh?

00:30Natural disasters are common in California,
00:32so builder Eugene Sway designed this home
00:35after the tardigrade, or as it's sometimes called,
00:37the water bear, an indestructible micro animal.
00:40And it's been dubbed the world's safest house.
00:43Wow, it just keeps going.
00:46I love it.
00:47I feel like I'm in, like, the genie's bottle.
00:51My name's Ty Sway, the grandson of Eugene Sway,
00:53the polymath architect of the Berkeley fish house.
00:57Ty is the third generation to live
00:59in this two-story, four-bedroom, and three-bathroom
01:02home that was originally built for Eugene's parents in 1995.
01:06And it gets a fresh coat of paint every few years.
01:08The entirety of this house was built
01:10by the hands of Eugene Sway and a couple of friendly interns.
01:14The materials were all heavily researched,
01:17environmentally safe, materials that
01:20are fireproof, waterproof, earthquake proof.
