00:00yes it does come in black here's a look at the brand-new McFarland toys DC
00:04multiverse the JLA build-a-figure plastic man Batman
00:30a playboy billionaire by day Bruce Wayne's double life affords him the
00:36comfort of a life without financial worry a loyal butler turned guardian and
00:39the perfect base of operations in the ancient network of caves beneath the
00:43family's sprawling estates by night however though he sheds all pretense
00:47dons his iconic scalped cape and pointed cowl and takes to the shadowy streets
00:52skies and rooftops of Gotham City this Caped Crusader is a carbon copy of the
00:57one that we got before from the DC multiverse three Jokers line as it's
01:01essentially using the exact same body colored slightly different that tape
01:05measure is gonna tell us that he's still gonna stand the same at about seven and
01:08a quarter inches in height or the JLA's Batman is about 18 and a half
01:12centimeters tall not sure really where I put that three Jokers Batman but at
01:15least I have a stand-in now for comparisons here's what the figure oh
01:19here we go again here here's what the figure looks like with the nightfall
01:22Batman I know it's always the one I seem to go to but it does drive home one
01:26point though is that I feel like the Batman body that they chose for the JLA
01:30Batman now this is the Batman from the 90s this is Batman that would be seen in
01:33the total justice video game and the subsequent figure releases this is also
01:37very heavily influenced by as well the 89 Batman movie that being said I do
01:42feel like the Batman body that they chose is way too big not that I'm
01:45necessarily advocating for nightfall Batman because I mean really if you look
01:48at that figure that figures got mileage what now four times he's got released
01:52now as a black Cal version a cel-shaded SDCC release and hey he's even tussled
01:57with Bane so it's not necessarily the case that I'm pushing heavily that they
02:00need to keep continuing to go back to this body go back to this well but I
02:04feel like though to for this to be the JLA Batman it's just too big of a body
02:08that they're choosing speaking of other bodies here's bringing in the other
02:12figures that we've looked at so far because keeping in mind again this is
02:14the fourth figure before we start to build up plastic man so here's what they
02:17figure looks like with the blue Batman blue Superman on Batman blue Superman
02:21Jon Stewart and of course here's also we looks like with hookhand Aquaman it's
02:26kind of funny I would mention a couple of times the total justice figure line
02:28when that original Batman actually had a gray suit and a blue cowl either way
02:32though the things that come in clear with the Caped Crusader all the
02:34necessary things in order to complete plastic man and before we complete mr.
02:37elasticity let's actually look at the other things that come included with
02:40Batman first while we're on the topic of a black suit and a black cowl yes to
02:45come in clear with Batman you get yourself just that the Caped Crusader is
02:48featured very nicely here where it looks like Wonder Woman consoling his
02:52shoulder I don't know why Batman so sad but apparently Wonder Woman felt the
02:55need to put her hand on his shoulder down below it does say Batman and then
02:59below that it says JLA it's only totally really you flip around the back of the
03:03card you realize his real name is Bruce Wayne get out of town really his real
03:06name is Bruce Wayne what you're also getting treated to is one thing that's
03:10consistent it seems with all the trading cards a very generic read up and while I
03:15could excuse it certainly for Batman all the other cards like the Aquaman for
03:18example the energy blue suit Superman none of them actually had read ups on
03:22the back that had anything pertaining to that specific look for the character
03:26Batman yeah you could easily get away with the idea that he's a billionaire by
03:29day he's fights crime at night yada yada yada and at least that's somewhat
03:33expressed here with the paragraph read that you read on the back of the card
03:36you need to read it I already read it I beat you to it let's move that card off
03:40to the side nice-looking card by the way the figure yes comes a clue with the
03:43display stand display stand is just as black as Batman himself does have the DC
03:48logo printed down below here and then a peg off to the side that can plug into
03:51either one of Batman's boots you have one peg you have two of Batman's boots
03:55so you have to choose which boot you want to plug this onto the bottom of
03:58move it off to the side the figure also comes in clue with a grapple gun now the
04:03grapple gun I know we should have really started to talk things first about
04:06Plastic Man I just want to I mean it's so very little that we get with Batman I
04:10want to run through these things first he gets himself a grapple gun that we've
04:13gotten before this grapple gun also looks very much like the 89 grapple gun
04:17obviously not as big of a handle on the back but like if you don't look at like
04:20this part of it it does very much look like the one that Michael Keaton would
04:23have had as Batman the grapple line unfortunately is molded in just the
04:27black plastic so the rest of it all kind of looks as one molded piece yes they
04:31probably could have painted this I mean I don't know how much time they really
04:33would have spent to paint like both the the rope as well as the hook on the end
04:37of it I suppose you probably could go in there as well if you're a talented
04:40painter not that you really need to be a talented painter you literally only just
04:43need to paint this point to this point and just not make a mess anywhere and
04:46just paint the hook on the end of it this is a soft plastic I mean I would
04:50love if they could really have just given him a grapple gun really without
04:52the line but I guess if you are one that likes figure photography or hey why not
04:55you like just to display your figures doing something interesting this at
04:59least gives you the idea of giving something interesting to Batman even
05:02though it's pretty soft and plastic this venue his hands although he only really
05:06has this hand here this hand is gonna be helping anybody really basically you
05:10just take your figure I mean I'm gonna spend a lot of time showing you guys how
05:13something is held in a figure's hand basically you just take the handle
05:16dowel it in there and then Batman's got himself a grapple line while Batman's
05:23shooting off his lines the figure also comes include like I said all the
05:26necessary parts for building Plastic Man now where we have left off humble
05:30viewers is that the figure got this well this is how as far as we've gotten so
05:34far from Plastic Man the lower legs we just recently got with Jon Stewart's the
05:38upper torso came in clue with the energy Superman the only thing has been left
05:42off though is the arms those arms came in clue with Aquaman I haven't yet put
05:45them on because I wasn't sure really how committed these would be once I plugged
05:48them in place would I be able to remove them easy enough and we'll all kind of
05:51find out together because I haven't yet I haven't yet done this basically you
05:56got to write your arms though that came through the Aquaman but what you do get
05:59though with Batman is these really cool looking arms these arms themselves have
06:03much more stretched out limbs here for Plastic Man the actual arms themselves
06:07don't look like they have a wire built into them so you can't really bend these
06:11I suppose if you wanted to you could submerge these in a hot water bath you
06:15could also take a few passes with your hair dryer just soften up the plastic
06:19you could probably bend these a little bit better if you wanted to but he has
06:22these he has one long arm and then he has this pretty cool looking lasso arm
06:26he's basically holding his own arm and he's basically you know again he's
06:29making a lasso could be also good for catching butterflies but you need a net
06:33come on there's no way you could catch a butterfly without a net blocking that
06:36off or you could also blow bubbles he could blow his blow his own bubbles now
06:41these attach you obviously have a peg right there and you got yourself the
06:45shoulder sockets if I was to commit to the idea of plugging in one so that's
06:49one arm and then you basically take the other arm and just plug that in place
06:53now I don't know yet which route I want to go when it comes to attaching these
06:57whether I want to go with the crazy-looking arms or if I want to commit
07:00to maybe one arm just normal and the other arms a little longer like this I
07:04myself myself I'm not really sure which way I want to display the figures just
07:08yet I am curious though I didn't attach this one completely but I did attach
07:12this one fairly securely okay so they're fairly easy to remove that was one of my
07:16biggest worries popping that off yeah it seems to come off pretty easy so we can
07:20go ahead and we can attach the other alternate arm just to show you guys what
07:24it looks like so we're gonna plug in the regular normal arm that came in clue
07:27with Aquaman we're gonna plug in the longer arm that came in clue with Batman
07:30so yeah you can't mix and match them if you really wanted to the idea of mixing
07:34and matching doesn't just stop there oh no it doesn't what you could also do too
07:37is that the figure comes included with two different alternate head sculpts for
07:41Plastic Man you get a regular one that just is a smiling Plastic Man with the
07:45goggles there on the front of his face nice little touch of details the fact
07:48that he did give that little bit of coloring reflection that he always has
07:51in the comics nicely nicely sculpted but then he also comes in clue with this
07:55head sculpt and honestly though between the two I would love to go with this
07:59head sculpt I think instead just because it's got not only the longer
08:01neck but it gives a much more exaggerated face sculpt I know he's a
08:05little old now but I mean thinking about this Bruce Campbell would have made a
08:09perfect Plastic Man who's with me Plastic Man Bruce Campbell I mean he
08:13just seems like he's made for the role although obviously now he's a little bit
08:17older of the two heads again he's plugging these are gonna be plugging in
08:21the exact same way so if you wanted to you can go with just the regular head
08:24sculpt that's gonna plug on to the bulge right and then again if you want to just
08:27pop that off and replace it with what I feel and don't let me don't let me push
08:32you in the direction of going with this head sculpt but you can also go with
08:34this one too there's a lots of different cool things you can do with it the only
08:38thing he doesn't have I mean this whole time of changing out everything with
08:41his arms and his head you're still gonna be still sort of stuck with the same
08:44regular legs which I can understand for the way that they plugged in place I
08:47really did have to kind of make sure that they worked away all the way on
08:50there so that when I was moving the legs around for example they weren't gonna
08:53pop off I can understand why these would be not things that you'd be wanting to
08:56swap out so again he's got the longer arm he's got the shorter arm again you
09:00know I've already kind of showed you everything you can just change out the
09:03parts we're gonna kind of get more into looking at him in a later review I'm
09:06just gonna move him off to the side for the for at least time for the time being
09:09let's go ahead and remove also the grapple gun we have no need no more need
09:13for it we're just gonna put off to the side okay so getting a closer look at
09:17Batman obviously this guy is simply just a recoloring it is even in the case that
09:20they retooled anything I went back and I looked at images online of the three
09:24Jokers Batman cuz I I know I have the three Jokers Batman I mean hey I did a
09:28review of him I can't find where I put him right now they haven't told anything
09:32different I mean the emblem here on the front of his chest even though again very
09:34much heavily influenced by the 89 Batman this is also raised from the rest of the
09:39surface of his torso that was on the original three Jokers Batman as well to
09:43be said with a very nice very 89 inspired utility belt also was on the
09:48original joke or the original Batman from three Jokers line so nothing really
09:51is necessarily changed here other than cosmetic changes you know that the cowl
09:55and the rest of the outfit works well I feel in black you get a much more
09:58shorter pointed cowl this time around and I do like the way they've textured
10:02this the original three Jokers Batman also had this as well it gives it kind
10:06of more of a leather look to the way they've sculpted the cowl so it's not
10:09just a smooth plastic it works well there are areas though you can see just
10:13underneath the cowl where I've got some black bleeding from the pointed of the
10:16nose you could say if you wanted to justify this that it looks a little bit
10:20like it's shadowing so okay we'll say it's a little bit of shadowing there are
10:24a few little areas there also on the side that the cowl isn't completely
10:27painted you can see very much the skin tone is kind of bled onto the black so
10:31some of the paint isn't the cleanest but again like the shadowing you could say
10:35okay that that's some shadowing underneath the nose that's maybe one of
10:38the reasons why they've done that I mean it's just obviously a case with it it's
10:41bled onto the flesh flesh tone the face sculpt is okay I mean as well for the
10:45body there's nothing really I would have issues with other than two areas it's
10:50his arms and it's his legs and both of the problems have the exact same problem
10:55is that if you've seen my review of the Joker that not to joke at the penguin
10:59just recently we had a look at the classics penguin and we looked at both
11:02versions of the black jacket penguin had the exact same problem they decided just
11:07to go in there and start painting things blue in this case kind of more of a dark
11:10purplish blue but still blue everything on Batman's body is pretty much just
11:15kept to black until you get to looking at like his his lower shin guards which
11:19again look very much like the Michael Keaton boots but again like just they
11:23have this blue over here that just makes no sense really when you're looking at
11:26the consistency of the rest of the body all the body is black including his cape
11:30the back of his body to be fair though does have a few little things that are
11:34changed like like his trunks for example are more of a matte black where his his
11:38legs are obviously a more of a shiny but that's fine I just don't understand why
11:41they would go in there and feel the need to paint this blue I mean being that
11:45there's nowhere blue on the rest of the body and it it's also that kind of blue
11:48too that stands out when you're looking at everything else on the palette of
11:52Batman here everything's kept a really dark colors until you start to see his
11:55gauntlets and then you start to see his shin guards and you ask the question I'm
11:59probably asking why they felt the need to paint these blue everything else on
12:03Batman is okay if you can overlook the fact that it's just too big of a Batman
12:07honestly if this is gonna be a Batman it's gonna fit in well with like the 80
12:1080s or 90s style figures or the total justice style characters I just don't
12:15think that this is the right body they should have gone with I feel like not to
12:18say that nightfall would have been a perfect candidate I mean there's
12:21probably again other Batman's that they probably could have chose I always keep
12:24continuing to say the Batman from Zoran R Zoran R would have been an ideal Batman
12:29obviously would have to tool a lot of things for the body this would be the
12:32most direct approach from point A to point B the easiest would be simply just
12:36to take a mold and cast it differently in a plastic color now obviously they
12:40just chose three Jokers Batman I just don't think it's the right size of
12:43Batman body it's just a really big Batman that doesn't always necessarily
12:47scale really well this may not be a Batman I'm gonna display with the other
12:50rogues gallery if if that is the choice I want to go with I'm also gonna go with
12:54either the blue cowl or even if even though I haven't yet picked it up the
12:57black cowl release of the nightfall Batman for what he is he's painted
13:01decently but again like a lot of this is really just only needing to paint the
13:04emblem and for that it's painted decently you only need to really paint
13:07the utility belt and again doesn't look bad at all though I don't see any real
13:10bleeding of paint at all but again like I just don't feel like it was necessary
13:14at all to add purple this purplish blue it doesn't seem to belong at all on the
13:18figure because it looks a little bit more jarring now if you are familiar
13:21with this mold or a mold similar to this because we've also gotten ourselves a
13:25couple of variations like a hush Batman did have a similar style of head as well
13:30as the vampires Batman I just happen to have actually the vampires Batman right
13:33over here nothing necessarily I was gonna be bringing him in but you know
13:37again if you're familiar with that size of Batman body that like they've done
13:40this about three four times now using this specific mold I think this might be
13:44the only time that we've actually gotten the three Jokers Batman cast in a
13:48different coloring of plastic but anyways his articulation is gonna be
13:51exactly the same as those other Batman so instead of having a ball joint where
13:55the head is separately from the rest of the neck the neck and the head are all
13:58one piece so when you move in the neck in in essence you're basically moving
14:02the entire head at the same time the head does look up that high it does look
14:06down yeah okay and you can also move it back and forth as well you can also
14:09rotate again the head all the way around Batman's arms do rotate and even
14:13though he does have a cape that drapes off to the sides of the shoulders
14:16doesn't seem at all to hinder the movement in his arms so you can move his
14:19arms out and again you can move him back and forth the figure doesn't have well
14:24he has a swivel in his bicep the figure does have a double hinge in the elbow
14:27but what he doesn't have though is a swivel in his glove Batman tend not to
14:30have that he does though have a swivel in his hands yes you can rotate those
14:33all the way around and you can hinge them back and forth Batman's upper
14:36torso is gonna be on a ball joint the lower abdomen area is yes gonna be on a
14:40ball joint legs do split out still you got these softer plastic trunks so not
14:45that he necessarily has a figure diaper I feel like they've actually done a
14:47better job with these figures recently where they don't feel like there's as
14:51much bulk here in the trunks legs do split you can take them move them
14:54forward you can move them back swivel at the top of the thigh the double hinge of
14:58course in the knee no articulation in the boot but you can still move the
15:01ankle up and down and back and forth there's of course the toe articulation
15:05and of course there are the pegs on the undersides of Batman's boots things I
15:09like about the figure if you keeping this guy separate from everybody else I
15:12think the head sculpt is still good I liked it initially when we looked at the
15:16three Jokers Batman I don't think my feelings at all have changed about it
15:19it's just a good Batman but it just doesn't scale really well with a lot of
15:22other figures this would not be necessarily a figure that I'm gonna go
15:25to as my definitive Batman to be displayed with say the other league
15:28members or even to be displayed with the Batman rogues this is a Batman's gonna
15:31be standing probably on his own and that's probably gonna make Batman I've
15:34been really sad I can oh I can see now I can see now why Wonder Woman was
15:38consoling Batman she's saying I know I know you're not gonna scale in with the
15:42rest of the Batman figures but it's okay I believe in you even though yeah the
15:47Batman isn't gonna be the one that I'm gonna choose when it comes to displaying
15:50I like the idea of a black suit Batman I just don't think I would have chosen
15:53this particular Batman body and of course there are some notable things as
15:56well even though like I like the sculpting of it there are certain
15:59elements of of him that don't quite jive so like the torso is more of a map
16:02plastic this the trunks areas are of course matte black so like you've got
16:07shiny arms on the sides you got a shiny abdomen you got shiny legs there are a
16:11few little things from a sculpting standpoint where plastics don't quite
16:14jive with one another and of course the biggest one is the fact they went in and
16:17painted in like the gauntlets and the knees I just don't think I would have
16:20necessarily done that keep everything in black Batman likes things in black that
16:24then to give himself purple boots I don't know if that was his choice or
16:27Alfred's choice either way whoever decided hey let's give ourselves a blue
16:31boots or purple boots while everything else on the figure is all black I just
16:35don't think was the right choice it's a nice Batman I think it's not for the
16:38fact that the figure did come included with of course the necessary needs in
16:41order to complete plastic man which of course we will be looking at in the next
16:44review if not for that and this guy was sold separately I myself probably
16:49wouldn't have picked him up well I do like the choice of colors that they made
16:53for this Batman I don't though like the choice of the Batman body it's always
16:57really been a big struggle when it comes to this particular Batman and this
17:00Batman also shares the same problems as the hush Batman this Batman granted is
17:04being used from the three Jokers Batman but the hush Batman also has the same
17:07problem it's too big of a Batman and unless you have it with certain figures
17:10this figure ends up just ultimately casting a shadow on those other figures
17:14now I have this Batman or the three Jokers Batman at one point I had him
17:17displayed with the three Jokers because that was part of the line but to pick
17:21this Batman of all things and have this displayed with the rest of the league
17:24then unless you have all equally sized characters like if you were to take a
17:27Hal Jordan Green Lantern for example I would never really display it with this
17:31Batman because this Batman just comes across way too big and that's the
17:34problem that faces with this particular mold and the hush Batman it's just too
17:38big of a Batman to then deal with displaying with the other figures if you
17:41have them on their own they look good on its own this is a nice-looking Batman I
17:46like the sculpting of the cowl the cape looks good and other than some
17:49questionable choices for blue that they put for the both the gauntlet blades
17:52and as well his boots all in all Batman looks good I just don't think it's gonna
17:57be a Batman I'm gonna be ever really pull and say this is gonna be the Batman
18:00gonna be displayed with the JLA members all the other Batman or all the other
18:04Justice League members we've looked at from this wave so far all of them look
18:07like they could fit in well with one another they're not only big they're not
18:10overly muscular they're just the right size to accommodate a Justice League or
18:15JLA display this is a Batman that kind of unfortunately stands out and it's
18:20unfortunate too that because they chose this particular Batman body that you're
18:23sort of stuck to pick this one up if you're looking to complete Plastic Man
18:26if you have no desired interest at all to collect Plastic Man parts and I
18:30understand why you wouldn't want to build Plastic Man. Plastic Man is
18:33awesome but if you're looking just to only select fully pick out like say
18:37Aquaman and maybe you like the look of energy suit Superman or the blue suit
18:41Superman then maybe you could just easily pick those one up and pass on
18:44Batman altogether but till to get the Plastic Man you're unfortunately hooked
18:48to be pulled in and buying a Batman that you may not necessarily want for your
18:51collection I like to look at this guy but he's not gonna be part of my
18:55collection when it comes to displaying with the rest of the league I already
18:57kind of have a Batman in mind it's usually I know it's usually the
19:00Nightfall Batman until there's a better Batman to coming around that's the
19:04Batman I go to when it comes to displaying with the league this isn't
19:07gonna be the Batman to do that what do you guys think this figure let me know

19:13hush Batman do you feel like those Batman bodies are way too big to be
19:16displayed with other figures or do you like the idea that Batman's a big
