00:00Tuneful toots. The little engines of the narrow-gauge railway were always busy.
00:11They went uphill and downhill all day long.
00:18Rusty's favourite journey was by the lake. He liked to toot his horn there.
00:24The sound echoed around the hills.
00:28Rusty's horn was special. It had two notes, one high and one low.
00:36Rusty thought he had a very tuneful toot.
00:41But the other engines thought it was the worst noise they'd ever heard.
00:45And that made Rusty sad.
00:50One morning, the thin controller, Mr Percival, had a special announcement to make.
00:58Sir Topham and Lady Hart are to visit our railway this evening, he said grandly.
01:04This is a very special occasion, so a brass band is coming to play for them, Mr Percival added.
01:12The engines were very excited.
01:15But Rusty was most excited of all. He loved the sounds of a brass band.
01:25There was a lot to do.
01:27Skarloey and Rheneas brought tables and chairs.
01:33Duncan and Peter Sam brought apples and pears from the orchard.
01:39And Rusty was to take the brass band on a tour of the hills before the concert.
01:45When Rusty pulled into the transfer yards, Mr Percival was waiting with the brass band.
01:51Rusty couldn't help but toot his horn high and low.
01:57At that moment, Thomas chuffed into the transfer yards with the bandstand.
02:02What was that wonderful sound? puffed Thomas.
02:06That was Rusty, peeped Peter Sam. He thinks his horn is special, but we don't.
02:12Well, I think it's special, wheezed Thomas.
02:16This made Rusty very happy. No one had ever liked his horn before.
02:22Rusty, the brass band are ready for their tour of the hills, called Mr Percival.
02:28Yes, sir, hooted Rusty.
02:31The brass band was soon on board and Rusty pulled quickly out of the station.
02:37Don't be back late, Mr Percival called after him.
02:41But Rusty didn't hear.
02:44He was tooting his two tones loud and clear.
02:50I'm going to give the brass band the best tour ever, he said.
02:55Rusty took them to the top of the highest hill.
03:00Then they went to the viaduct.
03:05Then he took them to the trestle bridge.
03:09It would soon be time for the concert.
03:12The band started to tune their instruments.
03:15The sound of their notes filled Rusty's funnel.
03:20He was very happy.
03:23So happy, he forgot all about getting back for the concert.
03:28I know, thought Rusty. Now I'll take the band to the lake.
03:33He wanted this trip to go on forever and ever.
03:40Rusty happily clickety clacked towards the lake.
03:46His horn was tooting to the music of the brass band.
03:51He wished all the other engines could hear him now.
03:54The ruined castle looked magical in the sunset.
03:58Rusty's tuneful train crossed the lake.
04:03Then there was trouble.
04:05Rusty shuddered to a stop.
04:10Rusty had made a terrible mistake.
04:13He had gone too far and he had run out of diesel oil.
04:19Now the brass band wouldn't get back for the concert.
04:22This was a disaster.
04:27Thomas chuffed into the transfer yards with the Fat Controller and Lady Hat.
04:33Mr Percival looked very unhappy.
04:36Rusty had not returned with the brass band.
04:40Everyone was very worried.
04:43The band leader was very worried too.
04:46How will anyone know where we are? He asked Rusty.
04:51Suddenly Rusty tooted very loudly.
04:55If you all play and I toot my horn very loudly,
05:00our sound will echo all the way down to the yards.
05:04Then everyone will know where we are.
05:07The band leader was happy.
05:10He waved his baton.
05:12One, two, three, he called.
05:16The band started to play.
05:18And Rusty tooted his two tones louder and prouder than ever before.
05:25Thomas was the first to hear the sound.
05:28That's Rusty, he puffed.
05:30And the brass band, Duncan chuffed.
05:33Everyone listened.
05:34They could hear Rusty's two-toned horn echoing down the valley.
05:39They must be in trouble, whistled Thomas.
05:42Follow the sound of Rusty's horn, Thomas wheezed.
05:46Then you'll be able to find him.
05:48If the brass band is with Rusty, said the Fat Controller,
05:52we'll have the concert there.
05:54Everyone thought this was a wonderful idea,
05:58especially Mr. Percival.
06:02The brass band played as loudly as they had ever done.
06:06Rusty was sure the whole of Sodor could hear them.
06:10Then he saw engine lamps coming towards them.
06:14Rusty was surprised.
06:16All the engines were arriving at the lake,
06:19and none of them was telling him to be quiet.
06:23We've come to hear the concert, boomed the Fat Controller.
06:27We heard your horn, puffed Peter Sam.
06:30So we knew where to find you, chuffed Duncan.
06:33Because you have the most special-sounding horn of all, wheezed Skarloey.
06:38I shall never be shy about my special horn again, Rusty tooted.
06:43Let the concert begin.
06:49All the engines blew their whistles,
06:52and Rusty tunefully tooted his two-tone horn loudest of all.
