00:00Hello everybody, Torono here, and welcome to episode 1 of the Patch 1.49 Roundup series.
00:05For those of you familiar with my last series for Patch 1.47, basically I take all the news
00:12that has happened in the last few days regarding new patches and put them all into one episode,
00:17to avoid tens of episodes for each individual development.
00:21And basically we've got a lot of new information about Patch 1.49,
00:26so I thought I might as well start the series now.
00:29Now I do apologise if the episode comes off as a bit rushed, I'm sort of going out in about an hour or so,
00:35so I'm kind of rushing to get this all done before I actually go out.
00:38I'll also link you to the Patch 1.49 rumour thread in the forums,
00:43they usually seem to know what they're talking about, they usually get what's coming out right,
00:47it's just basically, you know, where everyone can talk about what's coming in the patch,
00:51and pooling all the information together.
00:53You know, I do recommend you take a visit over there.
00:57I will also try and give as much information as I can about the vehicles,
01:00but like I said I'm going out in not very long, so it may not be much information unfortunately,
01:06I haven't really got time to get all my books out,
01:08but I'll try and give you at least a brief description of each vehicle,
01:11you know, and what it is and all that.
01:14Also a bit of a disclaimer regarding the dev blog articles,
01:17if it's in a dev blog article it's probably going to come out in the next patch,
01:21in this case Patch 1.49, but this doesn't always happen,
01:24sometimes priorities get changed or deadlines get pushed forward or back,
01:27so just bear that in mind when looking at the dev blog and various articles in the dev blog.
01:33Now the first thing we're looking at is on the, well all of the things we're looking at,
01:37is on the dev blog.
01:38Basically, well I'll leave a link to it,
01:40but it's where the developers announce all their new things they're working on for various patches,
01:47and they've just released a new one,
01:49Preliminary List of New Vehicles for Update 1.49.
01:52So this has only just come up literally two minutes ago,
01:55I was literally about to record for the thing before it,
01:58the Skyraider, and I refreshed the page and here it was.
02:03But basically, there's going to be quite a few new aircraft and ground vehicles.
02:09For America we're getting the Skyraider AD-2, which I'll look at in a minute.
02:15The R2-1943 for the Soviet Union, I haven't heard of that one,
02:19I'll have to do a little bit of looking into that.
02:21Now I did just pause the episode and had a look online for the R2-1943,
02:26because I haven't got my books on me at the moment,
02:28I can't find any reference to it.
02:30The only thing I could find was the R2 Production of 1943 on Wikipedia,
02:34but this is apparently the R2M, so I have no idea what this vehicle is.
02:40I'll try and give you more information if I find any after this episode's been made,
02:44but I don't know what it is at the moment, unfortunately.
02:49For the Germans we're getting a cockpit for the HS-129,
02:53I kind of assumed it would add one, but apparently it doesn't.
02:56And the Arado 234C3.
03:00Now this is different to the usual Arado we have in game already,
03:03because I believe it has four engines, I could be wrong with that,
03:06but it also has two 20mm cannons.
03:09I could be wrong, but I think they're meant to fire backwards,
03:11but it could be a ground attack type aircraft with the guns pointing forward,
03:15I'm not entirely sure.
03:17Now Britain is getting the vast majority of the aircraft,
03:19Firefly Mk1 and Mk5,
03:22the Seafire Mk17 I believe,
03:25the Seafury FB-11,
03:27the Attacker FB-1,
03:28and the Canberra is getting a cockpit.
03:31Now the Firefly is a carrier fighter aircraft,
03:35four 20mm Hispano cannons,
03:38as well as various rockets and bombs.
03:42Now I don't know what tier this will go in,
03:44so I'm assuming being the first one it will probably be quite low.
03:48The Seafire is a modified version of the Spitfire,
03:51it's basically an avalanche Spitfire,
03:53I'm guessing this is one of the later variants.
03:56It should be armed with 20mm cannons if I'm remembering correctly,
04:00as well as various bombs or rockets.
04:03Now the Attacker FB-1 is very interesting,
04:06it's a jet, which has a speed of something like 590mph.
04:11Armed with four 20mm Hispano cannons,
04:14I don't know if this actually carries bombs or anything,
04:16I don't have too much information on it,
04:18but it should be a very good tier 5 fighter aircraft for Britain.
04:22Again the Canberra is getting a cockpit.
04:25Japan's getting the J2M2 and the Ki-21.
04:28Now we've got J2Ms already in the game,
04:30so it's going to be a variant of the fighter aircraft Japan already has.
04:33The Ki-21 is a bomber,
04:36similar to the Ki-49,
04:38it's got five machine guns, four of them are 7.7mm,
04:41one's 12.7mm,
04:43and I believe it can carry 1000kg of bombs.
04:49Now this is interesting for the ground vehicles,
04:52I'll read them out first.
04:53The M2A2, 75mm M3 GMC, M18 GMC,
04:58T95, T28, M10 GMC, M18 Black Cat and the M5A1.
05:04I'm assuming that's a premium vehicle.
05:07Now, the M2A2 is odd,
05:10because it's basically an M2 light tank,
05:13but with two .50 caliber machine guns.
05:16I'm not really sure how this is going to work.
05:19Two 12.7mm machine guns,
05:22that seems rather underpowered if I'm honest.
05:26I assume that's going to be a reserve tier,
05:29a second reserve tier tank.
05:31I don't know, but then the rest of these are all tank destroyers.
05:34So is it the beginning of the tank destroyer line?
05:37And here's another weird thing,
05:38the T95 and the T28,
05:40as far as I'm aware, they're the exact same tank,
05:43except one was a tank destroyer,
05:46and one was designed as a super heavy tank.
05:48And as the specifications changed,
05:51they changed the name.
05:52But as far as I'm aware, they're actually the same tank,
05:54so I don't know where that's coming from.
05:57I honestly have no idea.
05:59It'd be nice to have two extra tanks,
06:01but, you know, it seems a bit weird.
06:05I'll link you to my American Tank Destroyer episode,
06:08I do give some more information about these.
06:10Basically, the M3 is a 75mm gun in a half-track,
06:15the M18 is the Hellcat, which we'll look at in a minute.
06:18T95 and T28 are super heavy tanks or tank destroyers.
06:23M10 is a tank destroyer based on the M4 Sherman,
06:28but with a 76mm gun.
06:30The M18 Black Cat is a premium of the M18 Hellcat,
06:34and the M5A1, well, we've already got them in-game.
06:37Now, the second vehicle is a Stug 42G.
06:40Basically, it's a Stug G with a 105mm howitzer.
06:44So, again, we'll look at that in a minute,
06:46but, you know, not too different.
06:48As far as I'm aware, the only difference is the gun.
06:51Now, the Russians are getting the 4M GAZ-888,
06:54the SU-57, SU-122-54, T-34-85E, 34E, STZ,
07:03and the IS-2 Revenge and the SU-76M.
07:06Again, those two are probably premiums.
07:08Now, the 4M GAZ, from what I understand,
07:11is a truck with four Maxim machine guns.
07:137.6 or 2mm machine guns, I believe.
07:18I could be wrong.
07:19I couldn't really find much information about it,
07:21but I'm guessing a Tier 1 anti-aircraft vehicle,
07:24as Russia doesn't get one until Tier 2 at the moment.
07:27The SU-57, like with the M3 GMC,
07:31is basically a half-track with a 57mm gun.
07:34The SU-122-54 is basically a T-54 with a 122mm gun,
07:41from what I can understand.
07:43I assume that's going to be a Tier 5 tank destroyer or something.
07:46Now, the T-34s, I couldn't find any information about.
07:50We've got a T-34E in-game at the moment,
07:53which is basically an up-armoured T-34,
07:56which suggests to me it's going to be an up-armoured T-34-85.
08:00Now, the STZ is a bit harder.
08:02If you look at the description of the T-34E in-game,
08:05it mentions they were built at the STZ factory,
08:08so I'm guessing this is to do with the factory,
08:11but I can't find any information on the variant itself,
08:14so apologies, but I can't really help there.
08:19It's a bit...
08:21If it was just the T-34E STZ,
08:24it would obviously be an up-armoured vehicle,
08:26but because they've got an E version next to it,
08:29without the STZ,
08:31maybe the STZ factory did a specific up-armouring?
08:34I don't really know.
08:36Now, as it says up the top,
08:38this is a preliminary list of new vehicles,
08:40so this could change.
08:41Some could be taken away, some could be added on.
08:44This is mainly looking at the...
08:46Well, as far as I'm aware, the patch,
08:48which I believe is called Weapons of Victory,
08:51is basically mainly to do with American tank destroyers
08:54and the British Fleet Air Arm.
08:56All of those vehicles in the British line
08:58are for the Fleet Air Arm.
09:00So, this is a British-centric and American-centric update,
09:05although Russia's got quite a lot as well,
09:07and some of the Germans, they've finally got
09:09a decent bomber with armament,
09:11and, you know, the Skyraider AD-2.
09:14But, of course, there are other updates.
09:17We'll look through them very quickly.
09:19We'll actually start from the beginning.
09:21This is from the 5th of March, so a little while ago.
09:24It's a new tank location, Reichstag.
09:27Basically, it's a new map set in the Reichstag.
09:30You can see here, there's some pictures of it.
09:33If we go back...
09:35I believe these are actually pictures of it
09:37as it is in-game now.
09:39They haven't actually got any pictures of it in-game,
09:42I'm afraid. I thought they did.
09:44That appears to be an old picture.
09:46But, basically, you'll get to fly it around Berlin
09:48and in the Reichstag.
09:50Of course, I'll link you to these articles
09:52in the main devlog area,
09:54so you can look at them yourself.
09:56We've also got another location,
09:58Hertogen Forest.
10:00Now, this we do have some pictures of.
10:02Again, I'll link you to it so you can look at it
10:04in more depth.
10:06See here, there's rivers and stuff,
10:08and, you know, lots of countryside,
10:10lots of buildings.
10:14Again, more ruined buildings, windmills.
10:16Now, we know the map size is
10:1864x64km for the air.
10:20The ground-based combat is
10:224x4km,
10:24which is a bit odd.
10:26In fact, they've got a map of the area
10:28we're fighting around.
10:30Vossenack. I don't know, I thought the river
10:32was more than 4km away,
10:34but you can see it in the picture.
10:36Oh, there are more rivers around here
10:38Oh, that's kind of embarrassing.
10:40So, lots of rivers.
10:42Seems to be a big map, from what I understand.
10:44It's near Aachen.
10:46I can't pronounce it.
10:48Aachen.
10:50Is it a German town? I can't quite remember.
10:52Yeah, so a quick search reveals
10:54it is the Aachen in Germany.
10:56I knew that was one of the first towns
10:58taken by the Allies in Germany,
11:00but I don't know why the map gave me off
11:02a vibe for Belgium.
11:04No, apparently this is near the Hertogen Forest,
11:06which was a very big battle.
11:08You can see here, longest conflict the US Army
11:10has ever participated in.
11:12It lasted several months,
11:14trying to tie up German reinforcements
11:16to stop them reinforcing the north
11:18and capture the front lines from the flanks.
11:20Another description,
11:22beach, forest dressed in red and gold,
11:24surrounded by hills and indented with dangerous
11:26mountain streams and rivers.
11:28Idyllic village, surrounded by neat fields
11:30and cropland.
11:32As a result, fierce fighting, countryside cottages
11:34and also many days of bombing and artillery shelling.
11:36So there, we've got a new map,
11:38which is good.
11:40It looks quite good, quite interesting.
11:42Again, we've got the M18 and the M18 Black Cat.
11:44Now again, I've dealt with these
11:46in the American Tank Destroyer episode,
11:48which you can look at
11:50for more information.
11:52Basically, this is a very fast
11:54but not very armoured tank
11:56with a 76mm cannon.
11:58There's also something new.
12:00You can see up here,
12:02there's somebody actually manning the machine gun,
12:04which I don't think we've had before.
12:06I don't know if that's going to be like that for all tanks.
12:08I don't know.
12:10Basically, the Black Cat
12:12is a premium.
12:14It's a rank 3 self-propelled gun,
12:16which we didn't know before.
12:1876mm long barrelled gun, as mentioned.
12:20M18 can reach up to almost
12:2256mph on the road.
12:24Okay, that's going to be
12:26ridiculously fast.
12:28It will be the fastest ground vehicle in game.
12:30Now,
12:32here's the M18
12:34and the M18 Black Cat.
12:36The Black Cat is the one with
12:38the muzzle brake removed
12:40and it hasn't got any side skirts,
12:42unlike the normal Hellcat, which does have some side skirts
12:44and has a muzzle brake.
12:46Open turret is very narrow.
12:48This seems interesting.
12:50A siren was mounted on the front hull armour.
12:52I assume that's it
12:54down at the bottom.
12:56I assume we're not going to get to use it.
12:58I'm not sure what
13:00tactical advantage it gives.
13:02There we go.
13:04We've also got new decals
13:06in patch 1.49.
13:08You can see here for various
13:10air forces and squadrons.
13:12Pakistani Air Force, Thai Air Force,
13:14278th Squadron in Italy,
13:16Kangaroo Emblem.
13:18Oh, they spelt kangaroo wrong.
13:20Kangaroo.
13:22There we go.
13:241st Regiment Chasse Chevelle.
13:26I can't do French.
13:28Iranian Air Force.
13:30Lots of decals and all that.
13:32If we go back,
13:34last things we're looking at.
13:36Sky Raider AD-2 and the
13:38Stur 42 Ausf. G 1943.
13:40Now, it's going to be
13:42tier 4, which we can see from here.
13:44The AD-2. Ideal for ground attack.
13:46There is one 20mm M3
13:48cannon with 200 rounds per barrel
13:50on the central parts of the wings.
13:52Now, if we look at the picture,
13:54we can see one barrel on the wing.
13:56So I'm guessing it's going to be
13:58two 20mm cannons.
14:02I thought it had four,
14:04but apparently I can only see one in there.
14:06And you'll see the other one on the other wing
14:08in a minute.
14:10Two bomb racks, which can take up to
14:122,000 pounds of bombs.
14:14Or a torpedo type Mk 13-3.
14:16Under the folding outer wing
14:18there are 12 pylons
14:20which are set to use Mk 9-2 missiles.
14:22Again, if you look at the picture
14:24you can count six missiles
14:26on this side, so presumably six on the other.
14:28One bomb here, presumably one on the other.
14:32It will clearly be one of the most
14:34effective rank 4 attack aircraft
14:36and potentially the most efficient one in the game.
14:38Large payload and
14:40wide variety of armament options available.
14:42Bombs, rockets and torpedoes.
14:44Again, we can see a ridiculous amount
14:46of bombs and rockets here.
14:48Six rockets and two bombs.
14:50Quite big bombs at that.
14:52And again, you can
14:54just about see the other 20mm cannon.
14:56So, presumably
14:58he was talking about both wings when he
15:00mentioned one 20mm cannon.
15:02Here they talk about
15:04producing the aircraft.
15:06Free air brakes add to the massiveness of the aircraft.
15:08It has a massive rounded top, but a flat
15:10bottom of the fuselage.
15:12Due to the lack of propeller spinner, you can actually
15:14see the radiator flaps in front of the engine
15:16and see how they function during animation.
15:18The engine itself
15:20is installed at a slight angle.
15:22Blah blah blah.
15:24A lot of time implementing main landing gear
15:26and fairings. The model has a lot of animated
15:28objects, folding wings, a hook,
15:30brake pads and much more.
15:32Folding wings? I don't think we've got any aircraft that
15:34do that at the moment, so
15:36that'll be interesting. I don't know if we can do it
15:38ourselves or you just spawn with them folded
15:40and they unfold.
15:42The last vehicle we're looking at
15:44is the STER-42.
15:46Now, we'll actually pop over to
15:48War Thunder itself in a second to show
15:50how it would be in game.
15:52As it says here, it's basically
15:54Stug G, but with a 105mm howitzer.
15:56It has heat
15:58ammunition and is capable of
16:00destroying even heavy tanks.
16:02Powerful high explosive shells also allow combat
16:04with light armoured vehicles and medium tanks.
16:06So that'll be quite interesting.
16:08Maybe a German version of the ISU-152
16:10or something?
16:12Here they just talk a little bit about the history of the
16:14STER-42 and how they discontinued
16:16using it.
16:18So here we are in War Thunder looking at the
16:20Stug G, which is what the
16:22STER-42 is based on.
16:24Again, all that is different as far as I'm aware
16:26is the cannon in the front.
16:28Armour-wise, 80mm
16:30at the front. Sloped
16:32in some areas, not so well sloped
16:34in others.
16:3630mm thickness here, but sloped to about
16:3880mm.
16:40At the front, again,
16:42at this point, about 115mm.
16:44Here, about 95mm.
16:46Now the sides are a bit harder
16:48to tell because you've got these skirts in the way,
16:50but it's 30mm thick,
16:52but it's flat, and you've got the
16:54skirts here, but they're only 5mm.
16:56Again, the back,
16:58not particularly
17:00well armoured, or actually it's better armoured
17:02than the sides, 50mm
17:04over 30mm, and it is actually sloped
17:06in some areas, sort of.
17:08So yeah,
17:10it should be an effective vehicle,
17:12but I'm just wondering
17:14how the high-explosive shells will work.
17:16With the 75mm gun,
17:18it's 12mm,
17:20how does the
17:22American one compare?
17:24If we just quickly go over to the Sherman,
17:26with the 105mm gun,
17:28that's, you know,
17:30same calibre, but maybe
17:32different length. This does 28mm,
17:34so presumably the STER-2
17:36will do roughly the same,
17:38or STER-42, sorry.
17:40And it's tier 2, so presumably it will go
17:42before the Stug 3G,
17:44so if you're researching that, as I am,
17:46you may want to quickly research it and buy it
17:48before the patch comes out.
17:50Well anyway, that's it for today's episode,
17:52I do apologise for it being so rushed,
17:54but I've really not got much time at all
17:56to record it.
17:58Thoughts on the patch so far,
18:00on the information we've got?
18:02I'm pretty happy with it, I'd have been happy with just the
18:04tank destroyers, I don't know about
18:06any bug fixes or anything like that.
18:08They do usually do that
18:10sort of stuff, but obviously they don't announce it
18:12in dev blogs or
18:14articles, and you don't really find
18:16out until the dev server itself comes out.
18:18But yeah,
18:20I'm kind of looking forward to it.
18:22A few things have raised my eyebrows,
18:24like the M2A2, the T95
18:26and T28 being separate,
18:28the T34 variants,
18:30that sort of stuff, but
18:32it does at the
18:34moment look like it's going to be a good patch.
18:36Of course things can
18:38change as we get nearer to the
18:40dev server and the release date.
18:42I'll do episodes around that
18:44as well. But yeah, I hope you've enjoyed
18:46today's episode, leave a like
18:48if you did, subscribe if you like these sorts of videos,
18:50leave feedback, could always do with
18:52more feedback.
18:54Thanks for watching, I'll see you next time.
