00:00In Venezuela, the government dismantled a new terrorist plan after the arrest of people
00:12linked to far-right groups.
00:15Ecuador experienced another violent weekend with more than 10 deaths, several injured,
00:20a new failure of the government's strategy to curb crime.
00:24And the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation said to be looking at a shooting near Republican
00:28presidential candidate Donald Trump as an assassination attempt.
00:44Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisa Studios in Havana,
00:49Cuba.
00:50We begin with the news.
00:51Venezuelan intelligence dismantled an international network that sought to generate violent actions
00:55in the country.
00:56In addition, an arsenal of weapons arriving from the United States was seized.
01:00Let's see the details.
01:05Venezuelan intelligence seized more than 400 rifles and pistols sent from the U.S.
01:11They were intended to enter Venezuela through normal shipments to be used by terrorist groups.
01:17Some of the weapons are for exclusive use by the United States Army.
01:22The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, showed a video where FBI
01:28officials were present at the warehouse, where the weapons were sent from in Orlando, Florida,
01:34U.S.
01:35We reached this number of rifles, more than 400 rifles.
01:43What were these rifles for?
01:45Let's go to the second point.
01:48These rifles were not for an exhibition.
01:50These rifles were for terrorist acts that were going to happen here in Venezuela, terrorism
01:55promoted by political sectors in Venezuela.
02:07Members of an international network linked to the wave of post-election violence were
02:12also arrested.
02:14All of them had previously passed through a hotel in Colombia, arrived in Caracas and
02:19from there went to Maracay, in the state of Aragua.
02:23They are linked to a fugitive from justice for the murder of a student and an opposition
02:28leader who participated in the violent post-election actions, also detained.
02:38She appears in a demonstration in Yupita.
02:41She lives in Yupita.
02:45She is a contact of these gentlemen, of these two Spaniards.
02:52They ask her via telephone how they can buy explosives, how they can contact a group to
02:57do some special work and on her phone.
03:03With them in direct communication, they plan the assassination of the mayor of Yupita.
03:08Needless to say, a revolutionary mayoress.
03:16The attack plan had several agendas.
03:22Among those arrested is an American hacker, Aaron Barrett.
03:26Another prisoner from the same country is Wilbur Joseph Castaneda, an active military
03:32officer who is part of an explosives group with a course in river operations and parachuting.
03:39He spent ten months in the Afghanistan war and six months in Iraq.
03:44He traveled to Colombia in 2012 for an exchange of knowledge.
03:48Venezuelan authorities revealed WhatsApp conversations where Castaneda coordinated armed actions.
03:55The White House stated on Wednesday, September 4th, that the detainee was in Venezuela for
04:00personal matters.
04:05But it is the White House that assumes the defense of this gentleman, they immediately
04:09say.
04:10No, he was safe without permission.
04:12It's normal for them to say that.
04:14He was on personal business.
04:15It seems to be normal in the United States for a military man of this type to go out
04:20and do personal things and not inform anyone.
04:23Active duty military.
04:29Another of those arrested is Jan Darmazal, of Czech origin and a member of the Commando
04:35AZ mercenary team.
04:37He wrote down his plan in a notebook to take over the airport and attack the Miraflores
04:42Palace.
04:43Diosdado Cabello denounced the link between the mercenaries and the intelligence agencies
04:49of Spain and the United States.
04:55The CIA is in charge of this operation, and the other that does not surprise us either.
05:00But knowing that they always had a low profile knowing that the CIA operates in this area,
05:04which is the National Intelligence Center of Spain.
05:13These two captured people say so.
05:15They even talk about a group of mercenaries that they are looking for to bring them to
05:19Venezuela with the very clear objective of assassinating President Nicolas Maduro, Vice
05:24President Delsi Rodriguez, myself and other comrades who are leaders of our party.
05:36The minister also reported the arrest of persons who were planning to detonate explosives at
05:41the embassy of Argentina in Caracas with the purpose of harming the Venezuelan government
05:46through a false positive.
05:51In other news, in Argentina, President Javier Mele submitted on Sunday the 2025 budget outlining
05:57policy priorities to Congress.
05:58In a non-presidential move, Mele personally presented the budget to Congress, denouncing
06:02Argentina's record of macroeconomic mismanagement and vowing to veto anything that compromises
06:08fiscal discipline.
06:09Mele's harsh austerity package has inflicted deep economic pain on Argentina, with nearly
06:1560% of Argentines now living in poverty.
06:18Mele managed to balance the budget largely by cutting financial transfers to the provinces,
06:23halting public works projects, eliminating energy and transport subsidies, and refusing
06:28to raise salaries and pensions in the face of the country's sky-high inflation.
06:37The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, addressed the nation on Sunday and asked citizens to
06:41avoid at all costs confrontations between brothers.
06:44This way, he asked former President Evo Morales not to damage the country and affirmed that
06:48the constitution disqualifies him from being a presidential candidate.
06:52The statement comes after Morales called to a national march and roadblocks for his presidential
06:56candidacy to be admitted.
06:58In this context, Arce recalled that throughout national history, the recovery of democracy
07:03has had a high cost for the people, which is why its care has become a collective task
07:08of first order.
07:09He added that his mission is to avoid confrontation and violence between brothers and the destruction
07:15of the plurinational state.
07:39Welcome back.
07:53In Chile, the Suburban Court ratified the conviction of retired military officer Gustavo
07:57Enrique Santibáñez Magaldós for the murder of a 17-year-old boy in 1973.
08:04The court detailed that the investigation found that on September 12, 1973, Santibáñez
08:09ordered his patrol to detain the participants of a political meeting and, in case of escape,
08:14to shoot them.
08:16The inquiry proved that the young man did not receive timely medical attention after
08:20he was shot and bled out.
08:22The court established that Santibáñez must pay compensation to the victim's mother for
08:27the damages caused.
08:33An Ecuador has experienced another violent weekend with more than 10 deaths, several
08:38injured and a new failure of the government's strategy to curb crime.
08:41With these indicators of insecurity, they are heading towards a new massive blackout
08:45that increases the fears of citizens, especially the residents of the southwest of the republic,
08:50where the unprecedented peaks of violence continue to skyrocket.
08:53In Guayaquil, in the locality of Montesina, the last incident occurred where military
08:58personnel neutralized three citizens and wounded three others in the middle of an alleged confrontation.
09:04Recent statistics show that 72% of the victims of massacres have no criminal record, and
09:08according to the UN Refugee Agency, more than half a million people have fled the country
09:13because of violence.
09:19Mexico celebrates its independence with the capital's ZĂłcalo Square full of people
09:23who came to vindicate the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who bids farewell
09:29leaving the reform of the judiciary completed.
09:32The cheers to Mexico, to the indigenous peoples, to the workers, to the migrants, to the cultural
09:37greatness of the country, to Dove and to the fourth transformation in the head of state
09:41greeted his people, who endured on the reign the departure of the most popular president
09:45in the country's modern history.
09:48The president, who also rejected racism and all forms of exclusion, once again thanked
09:53all Mexicans on the most significant date of Mexico's independence.
10:01The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation said to be looking at a shooting near Republican
10:05presidential candidate Donald Trump as an assassination attempt.
10:09The incident occurred on Sunday while the former president was playing golf at his course
10:14in Florida.
10:15The FBI reported the attacker threw an assault rifle and other objects at the scene after
10:19Secret Service fired at him.
10:21Alternative media outlets revealed the shooter, Ryan Routh, was a strong supporter of the
10:26neo-Nazi Ukrainian Azov battalion, whitewashed and supported by the U.S. State Department.
10:32Routh's ex-account was also suspended.
10:39Former President Donald Trump is safe and unharmed following a protective incident shortly
10:45before 2 p.m. on Sunday at Trump International Golf Club at West Palm Beach.
10:51The U.S. Secret Service personnel opened fire on a gunman located near the property
10:56line.

11:34The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service denounced that Ukraine is preparing a false flag attack
11:38with numerous victims in order to accuse Moscow.
11:41According to Russian intelligence, U.S. agents will be promoting the operation, targeting
11:45a children's center or a hospital in a territory under Kiev's control.
11:50The Russian agency warned that the United States intends to make a wide coverage of
11:54the tragedy with the participation of mainstream media in order to take advantage of the situation
11:59and reinforce its pressure campaign on Iran and North Korea for allegedly delivering ballistic
12:04missiles to Moscow.
12:05The Foreign Intelligence Service added that after similar plans dismantled by Moscow,
12:10more and more people believe in the Ukrainian responsibility for these aggressions.
12:19And on Monday morning, Ukraine attacked the Russian locality of Volgorod.
12:22The aggression left eight civilians wounded.
12:25According to the mayor of the region, Vyacheslav Vladkov, the airstrike also caused numerous
12:29fires affecting civilian property.
12:31The fires were set in family homes and cars owned by residents of the targeted area.
12:37Firefighters and rescue groups prevented further damage, but one house burned to the ground.
12:41The regional government explained that the Ukrainian attack was carried out against residential
12:45areas so the wounded are all civilians and the conditions of one of them is very serious.
13:11On Monday, Israeli genocidal forces struck the Gaza Strip overnight claiming at least
13:1527 lives.
13:16Ten of the fatal victims, including four women and two children, were in a house hit by shelling,
13:22which injured 15 others in the New Zealand Refugee Camp in central Gaza.
13:26All were taken to Al-Da hospital.
13:28Meanwhile, Israeli attacks have brought about at least five deaths at a bakery in Al-Bawazi
13:32and another tenth attacked.
13:34Among them, children have been raped during the siege of the city and sheikhs of the Gadwan
13:38neighborhoods.
13:39Moreover, another two Gazans didn't survive an overnight attack on Rafa.
13:44Rescue teams have been effectively searching for survivors on the debris.
13:48In all, Gazan health ministry amounted the death toll to 41,226, in addition to 95,413
13:55injured so far.
14:02We were sitting at home when we were surprised by a missile that fell on the area, causing
14:06what felt like an earthquake in the area.
14:08The people here are simple trying to live and have nothing to do with anything.
14:13Young men and women were sitting in their homes.
14:15They all have been killed.
14:18The Yemeni armed forces carried out a military operation targeting Israeli military positions
14:22in the Palestinian region of Jaffa.
14:24The operation was carried out with a new hypersonic ballistic missile that succeeded in reaching
14:28its target.
14:29This operation is part of the fifth phase that seeks to respond to Israeli attacks and
14:33to bypass all obstacles and interception systems on land and sea, including those of the U.S.
14:40The armed forces stated that the Israeli aggressions would not prevent Yemen from fulfilling
14:43its moral duty of supporting the Palestinian people.
15:04In Mali, the rainy season started last June and so far approximately 370 floods have been
15:09recorded, leaving 62 people dead.
15:11Local media have reported that at least 30,000 buildings have collapsed as a result of the
15:16heavy rains.
15:18Several infrastructures where food was stored have been affected, as well as some 37,000
15:24hectares of agricultural land.
15:26Transitional government reported that it has evacuated the victims and is cleaning up ditches
15:30to prevent further flooding.
15:37Meanwhile, in the southwest of Colombia, the Department of Vila has declared a state
15:42of public emergency due to the forest fires that have consumed at least 12,000 hectares
15:47of land.
15:48According to Governor Villalba, the state of emergency will last for six months and
15:52will allow the deployment of human and material resources to the affected areas, as well as
15:57the provision of the necessary funds to deal with the crisis.
16:00Authorities have deployed all means to fight the fire, which has affected at least 30 municipalities,
16:05with Palermo being the most affected.
16:14In Thailand, the two-month-old pygmy hippo, Mudeng, has been enticing media attention
16:19and endorsements from organizations like the Royal Thai Embassy, which can be helpful for
16:23safeguarding her species.
16:25The International Union for Conservation of Nature classified pygmy hippos as endangered
16:30species as there are less than 3,000 in the wild.
16:33The baby hippo has doubled visitors at Kao Kiew Open Zoo as she became the star of social
16:39media causing several companies to promote their products with Mudeng themes.
16:43However, mistreatments were reported upon the director of the zoo to install CCTV cameras
16:48around the hippo's enclosures.
16:50In this context, a zookeeper, the director and a visitor shared their views on the phenomenon.
17:00Pygmy hippos are nearly extinct, so I hope that her cute video clips would play a part
17:04that help people love her and conserve pygmy hippos.
17:10As the zoo, we have a duty to lead in wildlife conservation outside the habitat here, so
17:14it's our mission to perpetuate the species for as long as possible.
17:20At first, I did not know that pygmy hippos were endangered, but I recently learned from
17:24social media posts that there are a limited number in the wild and they are endangered,
17:29so I want them to be preserved.
17:42In Argentina, a technique and painting style originated in Buenos Aires known as Filet
17:46de Porteño comes to life.
17:48Let's get to know it a little bit.
17:51Filet de Porteño is a practice originated in the city of Buenos Aires that combines
17:58straight lines covered in spirals, the use of dry colors and certain specific typographic
18:03styles.
18:04This characteristic style of art can be found on buses, store signs, public spaces and even
18:09in the homes of Argentinians.
18:10Generally, they are closely related to the collective memory of the area in which they
18:14are placed.
18:16They integrate elements such as historical figures, representations of saints, artists
18:21of various disciplines and, of course, sportsmen, as is the case of soccer player Diego Maradona,
18:26a common figure in these works.
18:28The drawings used are sometimes accompanied by popular sayings or proverbs typical of
18:32the people of Buenos Aires.
18:43The execution begins with a sketch which is transferred to a glass or support and is colored
18:48using synthetic paint, varnish and special long-haired brushes, which help to make the
18:53characteristic curved lines of these works.
18:56The works also stand out for their perfect symmetry, the old-fashioned typography, the
19:00relief and the brightness that the artist managed to transmit through the paint.
19:05The name assigned to the exponents of this art is Fileteador or Fileteadora, and for
19:09many of them, it represents an opportunity for social reinsertion, since to learn it
19:14only requires the support of a master craftsman and the desire to do it.
19:19This allowed this artistic expression to be transmitted and perfected from generation
19:22to generation.
19:30This artistic style was born at the end of the 19th century as a simple way to decorate
19:34horse-drawn carts.
19:35Over time, it evolved to become what it is today, a vital part of the visual identity
19:41of the city of Buenos Aires and one of the most deeply rooted practices of its inhabitants,
19:46who organized exhibitions, shows and workshops of this art.
19:51The traditional Filete Porteño of Buenos Aires was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural
19:55Heritage of Humanity in 2015.
20:03We continue in Argentina, but now we move to the province of Corrientes, where the practice
20:07of the chamamé was born, a musical genre that is accompanied by a picturesque and traditional
20:12dance.
20:13Let's see.
20:16The chamamé is a cultural expression of the guacho culture, a peasant people which extends
20:22through parts of Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile.
20:28This characteristic dance was born in the region in the 16th century, and although there
20:33are several sources regarding its origin, the most accepted assures that it comes from
20:39the Guarini idiosyncrasy, one of the great pillars of the guacho culture.
20:45Although this expression is extended by all the mentioned countries, it is in Argentina
20:49where it takes a more predominant role in the local culture, specifically in the province
20:55of Corrientes.
21:06The joyful and lively dance of chamamé is performed in couples, which are tightly embraced,
21:12and when the music indicates it, stomps, largadas and floreos are allowed.
21:16This dance is not governed by any particular choreography, which allows the dancers to
21:21show their skill through improvisation, and celebrate their achievements with the sapucay,
21:27a long high-pitched shout of jubilation typical of Guarini culture.
21:32Traditionally, this music was played with vihuelas and violins, and over time has added
21:38instruments such as guitars, harmonicas, bandoneons, double basses and accordions,
21:44which became an important part of the sound that today identifies the genre.
21:58The lyrics of chamamé songs in the province of Corrientes are currently sung in a mixture
22:03of Spanish and Guarani.
22:05Both the musical interpretation and the dance are a source of pride for those who perform
22:10them, and regularly organize competitions and presentations of this cultural expression,
22:16which also forms an important part of community, family and religious celebrations in the region.
22:22Due to its social and artistic relevance, chamamé has been inscribed as Intangible Cultural
22:28Heritage of Humanity in 2020.
