00:50Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55Studies revealed on Monday that 57.3% of Argentinians disapprove of the administration of President
01:02Javier Milley.
01:04The survey conducted by Suban Cordova y Asociados showed that 43% of respondents said the head
01:10of state had not achieved a positive change in the country during his nine months in office.
01:15On the other hand, it indicated that more than 55% believed the country was going in
01:21the wrong direction, while 57.5% affirmed that the situation in Argentina would be the
01:26same or worse in one year's time.
01:29The polls also underlined that Argentinians currently consider that all promises made
01:35by Javier Milley were a lie and that distrust of his administration was spreading throughout
01:40the country.
01:46The survey comes out right after President Javier Milley submitted on Sunday the 2025
01:51budget outlining policy priorities to Congress.
01:54In a non-precedented move, Milley personally presented the budget to Congress, denouncing
01:59Argentina's record of microeconomic mismanagement and vowing to veto anything that compromised
02:04fiscal discipline.
02:06Milley's harsh austerity package has inflicted deep economic pain on Argentina, with nearly
02:1160% of Argentines now living in poverty.
02:15Milley managed to balance the budget largely by cutting financial transfers to the provinces,
02:20halting public works projects, eliminating energy and transport subsidies, and refusing
02:25to raise salaries and pensions in the face of the country's sky-high inflation.
02:35In Argentina, social movements and human rights organizations called for a mobilization on
02:39the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Knight of the Pencils.
02:43The mobilization for the Knight of the Pencils has been called for 2 p.m. local time in the
02:47main cities of the country.
02:49The demonstrators are expected to raise a claim against the administration of Javier
02:53Milley for its denialist policy and its links with the military sectors that were part of
02:59the dictatorship.
03:00The purpose of the annual mobilization is to remember the students who were kidnapped,
03:05tortured and murdered by members of the police of the province of Buenos Aires during the
03:10dictatorship on September 16, 1976.
03:19The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, addressed the nation on Sunday and asked citizens to
03:23avoid at all costs confrontations between brothers.
03:26This way he asked former president Evo Morales not to damage the country and affirmed that
03:31the constitution disqualifies him from being a presidential candidate.
03:36The statement comes after Morales called to a national march on road blockades for
03:41his presidential candidacy to be admitted.
03:44In this context, Arce recalled that throughout national history, the recovery of democracy
03:49has had a high cost for the people, which is why its care has become a collective task
03:55of the first order.
03:57He added that his mission is to avoid confrontations and violence between brothers and the destruction
04:03of the plurinational state.
04:06Venezuelan intelligence dismantled an international network that sought to generate violent actions
04:16in the country.
04:17In addition, an arsenal of weapons arriving from the United States was seized.
04:22Let's see the details.
04:27Venezuelan intelligence seized more than 400 rifles and pistols sent from the US.
04:34They were intended to enter Venezuela through normal shipments to be used by terrorist groups.
04:40Some of the weapons are for exclusive use by the United States Army.
04:45The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, showed a video where FBI
04:51officials were present at the warehouse where the weapons were sent from in Orlando, Florida,
04:58US.
05:01We reached this number of rifles, more than 400 rifles.
05:06What were these rifles for?
05:07Let's go to the second point.
05:10These rifles were not for an exhibition.
05:12These rifles were for terrorist acts that were going to happen here in Venezuela, terrorism
05:17promoted by political sectors in Venezuela.
05:30Members of an international network linked to the wave of post-election violence were
05:34also arrested.
05:36All of them had previously passed through a hotel in Colombia, arrived in Caracas and
05:41further went to Maracay in the state of Aragua.
05:46They are linked to a fugitive from justice for the murder of a student and an opposition
05:50leader who participated in the violent post-election actions, also detained.
06:01She appears in a demonstration in Yupita.
06:03She lives in Yupita.
06:07She is a contact of these gentlemen, of these two Spaniards.
06:14They ask her via telephone how they can buy explosives, how they can contact a group to
06:19do some special work and on her phone.
06:25With them in direct communication, they plan the assassination of the mayor of Yupita.
06:31Needless to say, a revolutionary mayor.
06:42The attack plan had several edges.
06:45Among those arrested is an American hacker, Aaron Barrett.
06:49Another prisoner from the same country is Wilbur Joseph Castaneda, an active military
06:55officer who is part of an explosives group with a course in river operations and parachuting.
07:01He spent 10 months in the Afghanistan war and 6 months in Iraq.
07:06He traveled to Colombia in 2012 for an exchange of knowledge.
07:11Afghan authorities revealed WhatsApp conversations where Castaneda coordinated armed actions.
07:17The White House stated on Wednesday, September 4th, that the detainee was in Venezuela for
07:23personal matters.
07:27But it is the White House that assumes the defense of this gentleman, they immediately
07:31say.
07:32No, he was safe without permission.
07:34It's normal for them to say that.
07:36He was on personal business.
07:38It seems to be normal in the United States for a military man of this type to go out
07:42and do personal things and not inform anyone.
07:46Active duty military.
07:52Another of those arrested is Jan Darmozel, of Czech origin and a member of the Commando
07:57AZ mercenary team.
07:59He wrote down his plan in a notebook to take over the airport and attack the Miraflores
08:04Palace.
08:06Diosdado Cabello denounced the link between the mercenaries and the intelligence agencies
08:11of Spain and the United States.
08:17The CIA is in charge of this operation and the other that does not surprise us either,
08:22but knowing that they always had a low profile knowing that the CIA operates in this area,
08:27which is the National Intelligence Center of Spain.
08:35These two captured people say so.
08:37They even talk about a group of mercenaries that they are looking for to bring them to
08:41Venezuela with the very clear objective of assassinating President NicolĂĄs Maduro, Vice
08:46President Delsi RodrĂguez, myself and other comrades who are leaders of our party.
08:58The minister also reported the arrest of persons who were planning to detonate explosives at
09:03the embassy of Argentina in Caracas with the purpose of harming the Venezuelan government
09:08through a false positive.
09:13The president of Seychelles, Wavell Ram Kalawan, will arrive in Cuba on Monday to begin an
09:19official visit to the Caribbean nation, during which he will meet with his counterpart Miguel
09:23DĂaz-Canel.
09:24This way, the East African president's agenda on the island includes several visits to places
09:30of academic, historical and cultural interest in addition to health institutions.
09:34The head of state and his Cuban counterpart are expected to sign agreements to boost the
09:39development of diplomatic ties and cooperation between the Andean island and the African
09:44country.
09:45Ram Kalawan will also meet with the president of the National Assembly of Popular Power,
09:49Esteban Lazo, and the minister of public health, José Ángel Portal.

10:22presidential candidate Donald Trump as an assassination attempt.
10:26The incident occurred on Sunday, while the former president was playing golf at his course
10:30in Florida.
10:31The FBI reported the attacker threw an assault rifle and other objects at the scene after
10:37secret services fired at him.
10:39Alternative media outlets revealed that the shooter, Ryan Ruth, was a strong supporter
10:44of the neo-Nazi Ukrainian Nazif battalion, wide-washed and supported by the US Senate
10:50Department.
10:51Ruth's ex-account was also suspended.
11:18The governments of China and Brazil celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment
11:23of bilateral diplomatic relations.
11:25Beijing was the venue of a meeting between the vice president of China, Han Chen, and
11:29the Brazilian ambassador, Marcos Galvao, in which they discussed the past and future history
11:34of China-Brazil relations, which, according to Han Chen, have been constantly developing
11:39through a fruitful cooperation in various fields.
11:42For his part, Galvao pointed out that Brazil gives great importance to the growth of relations
11:47with China.
11:48The parties are working in line with the agreements reached by the two heads of state to strengthen
11:53the mutual development strategies and deepen beneficial cooperation.
12:15In Brazil, the Fire Department continues efforts to extinguish wildfires ranging in
12:20Brasilia National Park, where smoke is affecting major cities.
12:24One of the biggest droughts in Brazil's history, the Brasilia National Park became
12:28the epicentre of a series of wildfires.
12:31Authorities warn that the fire has caused cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo
12:35to be affected by the smoke.
12:38According to official figures from the Chico Mendes Institute for the Conservation of Biodiversity,
12:42responsible for the management of Brazil's national parks, so far the flames have affected
12:47about 1,200 hectares.
12:50This is the largest fire to occur in the city this year.
12:58In the Philippines, at least six dead and 11 injured have been reported following the
13:03strike of Typhoon Bebinka in central and southern regions of the country.
13:07The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed that at least
13:11330,000 people were affected after the typhoon struck the Asian country.
13:18According to the agency, so far evacuation centres are sheltering more than 30,000 people.
13:24The authorities continue to be mobilised to manage the emergency and to calculate the
13:28damage to the infrastructures caused by the climatic phenomenon, which according to meteorological
13:33experts have been the strongest in 75 years.
13:41In Thailand, the two-month-old pygmy hippo, Moodang, has been inciting media attention
13:47and endorsements from organisations like the Royal Thai Embassy, which can be helpful for
13:52safeguarding her species.
13:54The International Union for Conservation of Nature classified pygmy hippos as endangered
14:00species as there are less than 3,000 in the wild.
14:04The baby hippo has doubled visitors at Khao Kew Open Zoo as she became the start of social
14:10media, causing several companies to promote their products with Moodang themes.
14:14However, mistreatments were reported that prompted the director of the zoo to install
14:19CCTV cameras around the hippo's enclosures.
14:22In this context, a zookeeper, the director and a visitor shared their views on the phenomenon.
14:30Pygmy hippos are nearly extinct, so I hope that her cute video clips would play a part
14:39that help people love her and conserve pygmy hippos.
14:44As the zoo, we have a duty to lead in wildlife conservation outside the habitat here, so
14:49it's our mission to perpetuate the species for as long as possible.
14:54At first, I did not know that pygmy hippos were endangered, but I recently learned from
14:59social media posts that there are a limited number in the wild and they are endangered,
15:03so I want them to be preserved.

15:53The governments of Russia and Egypt stress the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire
15:58in the Gaza Strip and for the Israeli occupier to allow unrestricted humanitarian access
16:02to the area.
16:03The statements were made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart
16:08Badr Abdelati during talks held in Moscow on Monday.

16:22with East Jerusalem as its capital.
16:24In their talks, the minister discussed other international issues, including the situation
16:29in Syria, Libya, Sudan and the whole North Africa, as well as the conflict in Ukraine.
16:46Egypt and some other countries aspire to find recommendations that would be acceptable for
16:50both Israel and Hamas.
16:52We welcome any steps that are aimed at stopping the bloodshed as soon as possible and ensuring
16:57a sustainable permanent ceasefire.
16:59And we are striving for the same in the United Nations Security Council.
17:03We are acting in parallel with our Egyptian friends.

17:52In all, Gazan health ministry amounted the death toll to 41,226, in addition to 95,413
18:01injured so far.
18:07We were sitting at home when we were surprised by a missile that fell on the area, causing
18:12what felt like an earthquake in the area.
18:14The people here are simple trying to live and have nothing to do with anything.
18:18Children, young men and women were sitting in their homes.
18:21They all have been killed.
18:23On Monday, heavy rainfalls made hardships to the lives of Palestinians in central Gaza
18:27Strip.
18:28In this regard, on Sunday, the Palestinian Civil Defence warned Gazans of expected heavy
18:33rainfalls for the upcoming week, urging them to take due measures to face the weather event,
18:38particularly the displacing tents, shelters and damaged homes.
18:42Respectively, flash floods have impacted those sheltered in al-Sawaida Refugee Camp
18:47in central Gaza, following five-minute downpours.
18:51In this context, at this place, Palestinian describes his suffering.
19:00The rain fell on us and we were flooded.
19:03The roof is rickety and made of ribbons.
19:05Our flower was ruined.
19:07The rainy season hasn't even started yet, but five minutes of rain has already flooded
19:12us, as you can see.
19:15The mattresses are damaged and I don't know where to go.
19:19The rainy season and winter haven't even started yet.
19:22We're still in September.
19:24What are we going to do when it really starts raining?
19:28The Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation targeting Israeli military positions
19:33in the Palestinian region of Jaffa.
19:36The operation was carried out with a new hypersonic ballistic missile that succeeded in reaching
19:41its target.
19:42This operation is part of the fifth phase that seeks to respond to the Israeli attacks
19:47and to bypass all obstacles and interception systems on land and sea, including those of
19:52the U.S.
19:53The Armed Forces stated that the Israeli aggressions will not prevent Yemen from fulfilling its
19:58moral duty of supporting the Palestinian people.
20:06The President of Iran, Massoud Pashinyan, urged unity and solidarity among Islamic countries
20:11in the region.
20:12During his first speech to the press, the President urged to improve agreements with
20:16foreign countries in order to solve internal and external problems.
20:21Pashinyan recalled that to abolish borders between neighboring countries goes back to
20:26Islam's call for unity among Muslims.
20:29The head of government also acknowledged the U.S. role in dividing the region and further
20:34escalating the ongoing conflicts.
20:41The U.S. should show us first that they don't have any enmity with us, as we don't have
20:45any enmity with them.
20:47We haven't gone unestablished military bases around the U.S.
20:50We haven't sanctioned the Americans.
20:52They have sanctioned us.
20:53They have installed bases.
20:55They are threatening us.
20:56They shouldn't do such things.
20:58We are brothers with them too, and we have nothing to do with them.
21:02The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service denounced that Ukraine is preparing a false flag attack
21:08with numerous victims in order to accuse Moscow.
21:11According to Russian intelligence, U.S. agents would be promoting the operation targeting
21:15a children's center or a hospital in the territory under Kaif's control.
21:20The Russian agency warned that the United States intends to make a wide coverage of
21:25the tragedy with the participation of mainstream media in order to take advantage of the situation
21:30and reinforce its pressure campaign on Iran and North Korea for allegedly delivering ballistic
21:36missiles to Moscow.
21:37The Foreign Intelligence Service added that after similar plans dismantled by Moscow,
21:42more and more people believe in the Ukrainian responsibility for these aggressions.
