00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. wants us to have laws that will protect and support our Constitution.
00:08This includes protecting our rights in the West Philippine Sea.
00:12The President congratulated him on his arrival on the anniversary of the Philippine Constitution Association or PhilConsa.
00:20Kenneth Paciente is in the center of the news.
00:23Let's finish the hard work for democracy.
00:29That was the call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on his arrival on the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of the Philippine Constitution Association Incorporated or PhilConsa.
00:41According to the President, there is still a lot to do to give more strength to the Constitution of the Philippines, especially that there are still some laws that will not be passed.
00:50As we stand here today, we must acknowledge that many of the laws that fully bring life to our Constitution remain unpassed.
00:58And our efforts to fully empower our people and deepen our democracy still fall short of what the framers envision.
01:07It is high time that we take decisive action.
01:10The Bagong Pilipinas calls upon all the branches of the government to rise to this challenge.
01:17So as we celebrate today's milestone, let us commit ourselves to the unfinished work of democracy.
01:23The Executive Board of the Philippine Constitution Association also established the importance of the rule of law in the country, where every Filipino has their freedom, rights, and dignity.
01:32This is also the principle of the separation of powers of the three branches of the government for a stronger system of checks and balances to avoid abuse.
01:41Let us breathe life into the principles enshrined in our Constitution.
01:45Let us create a nation where the rule of law reigns supreme, where justice is not selective, and where every Filipino enjoys the freedom, rights, and dignity that they are entitled to.
02:01History is watching us.
02:04Let us remember that the Constitution is a guiding light towards a just, prosperous, and resilient Philippines.
02:11The President also gave a statement that the government continues to focus on the integrity of the sovereignty of the country, as well as the protection of its territorial integrity.
02:21We continue to engage in regular consultations and dialogue with all parties to manage that situation in the West Philippine Sea, while developing more avenues for communication and cooperation.
02:34Congress is also working on the passage of several pieces of legislation, including the Maritime Zones Bill, and this clerical extent of our maritime domain, and the Archipelagic Sea Lanes, or ASL Bill, that seeks to establish ASLs in our archipelagic waters and in the adjacent territorial sea.
02:55The President also recognized the role of the Philippines in protecting the Constitution, especially in the field of the common and common interest.
03:02Meanwhile, First Lady Luis Araneta Marcos was appointed as the newest member of the Philippines, along with former Chief Justice Teresita de Castro and Attorney Michelle Lazaro.
03:13Kenneth Paciente, for Pambansang TV, in the new Philippines.
