00:00The European Night of Research is back, an event that celebrates science and research by bringing it directly between citizens, young people and students, with laboratories, exhibitions and interactive activities.
00:15It is an initiative now consolidated by the University of Rome 3, which also this year sees involved numerous departments, with research on biodiversity, climate change and sustainability,
00:26but also robotics, solar system, art and mathematics, new technologies and the essential artificial intelligence, flanked by nanoscience, physics and chemistry.
00:36The new technologies are, for us, an essential research tool, but also the tool we have to be able to communicate science, what we study, to a wider audience.
00:47Today we can reach anyone, because virtual reality is an essential tool for those who put people in contact and make immediate what we had to explain in the past through articles and essays, and therefore only through writing.
01:08Today, with images, we can communicate in a short time, immediately, our science, our path.
01:15The event is part of a project organized by Frascati Scienze and promoted by the European Commission and Regione Lazio.
01:22An important occasion in which the Ateneo opens its doors to share knowledge and create a direct dialogue with the community, thus creating that exchange that is at the heart of the mission of the University, to generate culture and spread it.
01:36The University of Rome always wants to open its doors to the public and share knowledge with everyone.
01:43It is wonderful to share our passion for the universe, for what is under our feet, with all the curious enthusiasts and even those who know nothing about it,
01:56because there are people here who come for the first time, they do not know what researchers talk about at night, they do not know what a researcher does at the University, and it is beautiful to share knowledge.
02:07The night of researchers is an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005, which involves thousands of researchers and research institutions in all European countries every year.
02:18We are here to tell science and culture in general to society, to people who do not do this job,
02:27because for one evening, fundamentally, those who do research, both in the scientific field and in the humanistic field,
02:35want to transmit the meaning, first of all, of the passion of the work that is taking place, because discovering something new is always an extremely exciting adventure.
02:47The event closes the Week of Science, a rich calendar of initiatives that has involved the public with the aim of bringing everyone closer to science,
02:56creating opportunities for meetings between researchers and citizens to spread the scientific culture and knowledge of the research professions,
03:04but in an informal and stimulating context. Science becomes so accessible, useful and even fun.
