00:00PHIVOX explained the reason for the eruption of Taal Volcano because of the possibility of raising the alert level of the volcano.

00:15Residents around Taal Volcano were alarmed after it erupted yesterday at 4 p.m.

00:22According to PHIVOX Director Teresito Bocolcol, the eruption was a phreatomagmatic eruption.

00:28This is a phreatomagmatic eruption. This is magma coming into contact with water and there was a steaming.

00:34This is not the first time that there was a phreatomagmatic eruption at alert level 1.

00:37Last October 2022, there was also a phreatomagmatic eruption.

00:41Since July 2022, the volcano is already at alert level 1.

00:45Bocolcol explained that this kind of eruption can happen even at alert level 1.

00:52It also does not make sense to raise the alert level of Taal Volcano after it erupted.

00:57One of the parameters that we are looking at before we raise the alert level is the number of volcanic earthquakes.

01:02Right now, the number of volcanic earthquakes is almost at the background level.

01:08We will assess this on a day-to-day basis.

01:10For now, again, as I've said, we don't have volcanic earthquakes that are recorded.

01:15For the past 12 hours, we don't have any.

01:18Because of this, Taal Volcano is still at alert level 1.

01:22If this is compared to the eruption of the volcano in 2020, which is a magmatic eruption, this is weaker.

01:29The permanent danger zone of Volcano Island remains.

01:33A warning to the public, do not try to approach the volcano.

01:37The agency also warns that even if the volcano is at alert level 0, it is still possible for it to erupt.

01:43If they have volcanic ashes, because it was high earlier, 2,400,
