00:00However, I will say this, even if that's the way you feel, you gotta play the last seven
00:05games and try to win them.
00:07But I mean, listen, if Michael feels like, look, you guys, meaning optimistic fans, are
00:14being unrealistic and this thing's over, that's fine.
00:18Like, I understand a fan that thinks that.
00:20But the reality is, you go out and beat the Packers, and now you're 6-5, I mean, you gotta
00:26keep playing.
00:27You gotta keep playing, you gotta keep trying to win until the last possible moment or until
00:32you're eliminated.
00:33You have to.
00:34But if you could just, I'll go the election.
00:37If you could just go on the Stiney computer of all the calls and texts that we've taken
00:41and you've read, I'm calling our guy, our brother, Mark Willard, one of the most optimistic
00:48fans I know.
00:49He said on this Airwaves, he doesn't believe they're making the playoffs.
00:54How many out there believe?
00:57It's a lie!
00:59You know what I mean?
01:00You know I love words.
01:02And when you say believe, I'm not sure I believe.
01:06But if you say, would you bet?
01:08I would say, I still would.
01:11But that doesn't mean I'm overly convinced it's gonna happen.
01:14It just means, and I've been saying this, I get it.
01:20Every year's different.
01:21And I'm the king of the John Lynch.
01:24You earn the right to be a Super Bowl contender, and they have not done that yet this year.
01:32But I will give them a small chance to become one in the next seven games, if for no other
01:39reason than I've seen them do it twice before.
01:42But I gotta admit, this year feels more dire than any of the other two years where they
01:49overcame a slump, let's say, in the middle of the season and got rolling by the end of
01:53it.
01:54So, more it feels like going on with this team.
01:57And it may be injuries, but there's an attitude that appears to be missing, too, with this
02:03team.
02:04I think it starts with 71.
02:0671.
02:07Trent Williams.
02:08What about him?
02:09I think him not having, like, Stiney, there are two culprits on this offensive line that
02:14you could make an argument need to be replaced.
02:17So are you gonna go into an offseason, let's just say they don't make it?
02:20I feel like any draft, the first pick for the Niners team, and I don't care if you feel
02:24like there's not a guy worthy or guys, you need to bolster this offensive line.
02:29And I know we got Jesse Sapolo coming on at 11.
02:32I want his take on just how much this group is the cause of maybe some of what we think
02:40is regression from Brock.
02:42Well, he's the perfect guy to ask.
02:46There's no doubt about it.
02:47And I wonder if Jesse from afar looks at the 49ers and thinks like some fans do, they don't
02:53put enough emphasis on the offensive line.
02:56I don't know.
02:57Let's go to D-Dub.
02:58He's in the Valley.
02:59What's up, D-Dub?
03:00How you doing, man?
03:01Hey, I'm doing pretty good.
03:05I just feel like the team has left Shanahan.
03:09They're done.
03:12They're not playing for Shanahan.
03:15They're tired of playing conservative.
03:18That's just not happening.
03:19That's not the Niner way.
03:20If you can't trust your team at home with a fourth and one to get three feet, that team
03:26stacked, next man up, that's what we've seen all year.
03:30He is not letting the Niners go.
03:33He's just playing it way too conservative, and I think the team's done.
03:38I think he's lost the team.
03:39Really?
03:40Wow.
03:41Yes, sir.
03:42I mean, man.
03:44Boy, that's always strong to me, because when you talk about a team, you're talking about
03:4953 guys, and I always am hesitant to lump 53 guys together.
03:55Maybe he's losing some guys.
03:57But it's not on...
03:58I know I'm not, or you, Stunny, I'm sorry to break it to you.
04:01You're not Cosell or Baldy, but I'm not seeing that on film.
04:05I'm not seeing the guys quit.
04:08You're not going to be able to see it, I don't think.
04:10It's just more of an extra effort.
04:15It might manifest itself in attention to detail, which they haven't been good at this year.
04:20It might translate into why they can't get off the field on third down when they're on
04:24defense.
04:26It might be why their air attack doesn't look like it does in the past.
04:31I don't know what it is, but I just want to know how desperate 49ers feel right now, 49er
04:38fans feel right now about this team, and whether you really believe, I mean, do you really
04:44believe they're going to get this thing done, and by get this thing done, I'll just put
04:48it this way, win the division.
04:51Do you really think this team is going to win the division and is capable of winning
04:56the division?
04:57You know, I'll throw it back to you.
04:58You brought up Cam Inman.
05:00Great book he just wrote.
05:02If he's correct, and in his world it sounds like he don't give a damn about any injury,
05:07every team has him.
05:08If he believes this is the most underachieving team under Kyle, Stony, do you think the brass
05:15or York is saying, because nobody's won more than the Niners besides the Chiefs in the
05:20last five years, could one underachieving season and him just having a bad coaching
05:25year cost him his gig?
05:28I don't think so.
05:29No, I don't think so either.
05:30I don't think so either, but I don't know what's going on inside that building and what
05:34the frustration level is.
05:36The 5-1-0 on the Comcast Business text line, they haven't played consistent enough to make
05:41fans believe.
05:45From here on in, it's all false hope until they're mathematically eliminated.
05:50Well, that's still a ways away.
05:53Yeah, it's getting closer by every loss.
05:56But we're talking about what if they lose.
05:59What if they play a real nice ball game and they beat the Packers?
06:02Then that's why you and I can double back and say that's why we bet that they would
06:06make it.
06:07Exactly.
06:08Exactly.
06:09Now, obviously, the injury to Purdy complicates things.
06:11I'm shocked.
06:12Oh, quarterback gets hurt.
06:13Come on, Goo.
06:14You're shocked.
06:15But every week it's something.
06:16And Kittle's back.
06:17With every team in the NFL.
06:19But doesn't it seem like with this team, when you get something, somebody goes out?
06:23No.
06:24What the 49ers have been terrible at this year is playing with injuries.
06:31They've been terrible at playing when guys get hurt.
06:35Every team's got to deal with it in some way.
06:37I'm going to say something to you, and I'll be consistent in this by any means.
06:41People is no shot at Jawan Jennings.
06:44But when I play the San Francisco 49ers and you're telling me McCaffrey's on the field
06:48the last two games, you got Debo Samuel, who I'm paying twenty eight and a half.
06:53And I got George Kittle, Stani, the one constant has been Jawan Jennings.
06:59And I'm saying that he's doing great.
07:03But when it's all said and done, he is not Justin Jefferson.
07:07He's not the guy you want to be shining the most on your offense.
07:13And I believe that's a byproduct of, hey, if you want Guru to beat you, we'll take that
07:19if we can stop Evan and Stani.
07:21And it seems like that's what's happening.
07:23And Jennings has been phenomenal.
07:25But Stani, he's not the most dynamic playmaker on this team.
07:30And now you look around, not blaming J.J. on the red zone issues.
07:34And what we saw yesterday with Seattle, who probably were popping bubbly, that Jawan almost
07:39had 100 yards, but we shut down Debo McCaffrey.
07:43We kept him in check.
07:45And I don't know if that's a Kyle issue.
07:48I don't either.
07:49Maybe McCaffrey's lost the step.
07:51I don't believe that.
07:53I believe they're gang tackling him.
07:54So what about McCaffrey maybe lost the step?
07:57Trent Williams has lost the step.
07:58There's no doubt.
07:59Okay.
08:00This season.
08:01If he's the most important offensive lineman, and we're questioning the offensive line,
08:08well then, that's on Trent Williams.
08:10Last thing to you about that, what would Trent say, hey Guru, watch your mouth.
08:15Do six weeks.
08:16We had a backup lead in the NFL.
08:18The whole O-line could say it.
08:20We had the backup running back lead the NFL in Russia.
08:23You know what I'd say to Trent?
08:24Hey Trent.
08:25Trent.
08:26Yeah.
08:27You kind of schnookered him, didn't you?
08:30Did you schnooker him?
08:31When you were schnookering him, when you were schnookering the Niners, did you know you
08:34were schnookering the Niners?
08:36Or did you not know you were schnookering the Niners?
08:39Conor and San Leandro.
08:41What's the put a rat on the table?
08:43Conor.
08:44What's going on, Conor?
08:45How you doing?
08:46I think the direction that this conversation is going in, the writing's on the wall.
08:53Oh boy.
08:55It's going to be a huge uphill battle this off-season, and I think the media needs to
09:02save this team from its own fan base, because everyone is going to be wanting big, huge
09:09changes.
09:10And actually what we need to do is make incremental common sense changes that everyone's talking
09:15about here.
09:16Like Kyle is out here drafting a kicker in the third round.
09:19No more counterintuitive stuff from Kyle that gets the benefit of the doubt.
09:23That's an incremental change.
09:25We got to fix the old line and it's time to see who Trent Williams is.
09:30I think Greg Cassell came on Willard and Dibbs and told us, he's lost his step, you're totally
09:35right about that, guys.
09:36We need to take the offensive line seriously.
09:38Now the most important thing, the counterintuitive thing that would actually allow the media
09:44to save this team from its fan base that wants to fire our incredible coach.
09:50The thing that needs to change is we all have to be on the same page and say, Brock, you
09:56are not worth the max.
09:59I don't care what the stats say.
10:00It's the same thing that everyone's telling me about how Jordan Mason had all these fantastic
10:04yards and this great stat.
10:06Yeah, well he fumbled very close to the end zone and we're 5-5.
10:10So I really don't care about Brock's stats.
10:13I don't care about where all the advanced stats tell me.
10:17I can see with my eyes that that young man is a product of a system that's run by an
10:21incredible coach and no one else is going to pay him back money.
