00:45This is the we're right on the precipice of the start of the regular season and we're worried about
00:52Hurricanes this opening game not the Carolina. It's not the Carolina Hurricanes. We'll get to later
00:59This opening game. So we're recording this Monday
01:04Tuesday is the game against the Panthers to open the season and right now as of
01:10255 p.m. On Monday the game is supposed to happen and you fly down
01:14Monday night to the game and you leave Wednesday morning this hurricane was at Hurricane Milton hurricane milk hurricane
01:22Milton yes, so Milton in honor of the South Shore strikes. Yeah
01:28This is the South Shore going back at the at the North Shore
01:31This few Milton NHL guys, right? Isn't he didn't keep the handle from Milton? I believe yeah milk
01:36Oh, I'm not wrong. So I feel like if I fuck up like where guys are from especially bunch of South Shore guys
01:42I'm gonna hear about it. But I I think I
01:44Could know this I
01:47Should know this. Let's grab this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Actually. Yeah, I'll never I'll send blame
01:51I mean, it's my problem if we can't I know there's a lot of great kids great players who come out of Milton
01:56But NHL wise I'm drawing a blank at the moment
02:00Yeah, I'm curious see what happens with the game itself
02:04Whether it goes on I'm not a hurricane expert so I can't sit here and give you the science of it all
02:08I'm sure you've been tracking it like crazy considering you're you're flying into it
02:13I'm not flying into the hurricane. I'm gonna be in the same state in which a category 5 is is
02:18Rapidly approaching but yeah, well not ideal. Good luck. You're gonna
02:24Live I'll do a live
02:27Podcast after the game. I'm gonna be out in the pocket. I'm gonna go like
02:31Like Dennis Nedry from Jurassic Park, like just like just have like a pawn show just like, you know
02:36They always have like the weather channel where it's like the people are on and they're just getting like hit by like gale force winds
02:42They'll be me
02:42It's just like they're just in them there
02:44It's like, you know, like just like this like like trying to walk against it and they just they can't really do it
02:49Me just like the hoods over my mark cast a leg
02:52We're really short cut of rain and then just like the Mike's gonna fly everywhere
02:56They took seven cross-checking penalties by the middle of the second beer
03:01Exactly. I could see it. I could see it those weather channel jobs, by the way, you know
03:05You and I being in this media field
03:07I think my North Star is one of those weather channel jobs where I'm like, yeah
03:10It's it's pouring pretty hard out here. Like did you were you Drake and Josh guy back in the day?
03:15Of course. Yes
03:16Remember when when Walter not that old give give the false weather report and had to go and they stole all his clothes
03:22He had to give the the correct weather report his underwear. I mean that it's iconic
03:28Anyways, who cares about the Godfather? We have time with Drake and Josh Drake
03:32You're right people probably like we finally have like an actual preview episode
03:36They're talking about Drake and Josh and they are dicking around. They are dicking around
03:41Before we get to the season and the Panthers game and sort of our predictions for the season
03:46Because I know the globe you guys put one out so people can go check that out there
03:50Jeremy Swayman Sunday morning
03:53Resigns they have the video ready to go
03:56Eight years times eight point two five million dollars. Shout out to John Boucher Grasse who
04:02Called it on Bruins beat last week whether it was informed or not. It was a the shot went in
04:07But again, I'm not really shocked at the contract
04:12And and I think you know when people saw the Frank Sara Valley article on Saturday morning
04:16Kind of diagramming how you know, this goes into the season past Monday at 5 p.m
04:21The Bruins lose cap space and Swayman loses money
04:24So it's all the incentive to let's get this done and they basically confirm that what's your reaction to this?
04:33Nice nice exhale, right?
04:35Nice nice exhale, right? I think that's probably the collective sentiment shared by the Bruins and Bruins fans and
04:42Again, it's what we've talked about this entire time Evan where
04:46It's it's beneficial for all parties to get this taken care of and that was the situation
04:50Jeremy Swayman doesn't benefit from sitting out not, you know, you know having rust form there
04:56Not get up to speed and what's going to be a critical year for him and the Bruins obviously don't benefit from not having
05:01Their number one goalie in net to start the year. So it as you said, like you look at the contract
05:07We agreed. I think last time we talked about this that they weren't very far apart in terms of what the latest
05:13Contract talks were that they wasn't like this huge gap. They really had to bridge there
05:17So I think it all came down to can all parties move forward beyond kind of all the
05:23Drama that has played out and I think you know Sunday was a step in the right direction, right?
05:27It was we kind of didn't get a lot of energy
05:29Which is probably the right call in terms of talking about Cam Neely's comments and Louis Gross's comments
05:34you know, we expected I think Don Sweeney to
05:37Not elaborate much on that and you know chalk it up to
05:40business and negotiations and all those things, but swayman kind of followed the similar script in terms of
05:47focusing on the future
05:48You know what's past is past and moving forward and that's kind of the right pride mindset to have when you look at just
05:54The emotion the drama the the history that comes that you know has you know
05:59We've talked about it time and time again with this negotiation to have all groups move forward
06:04To have you know from the brunch perspective signing your franchise goalie. Who's 25 and we've said this throughout the
06:11Process as well. Like whatever you think of how the negotiations have gone and the ask and the contract itself
06:18I don't think it's ever been a point where we've looked at Jeremy Swayman's
06:21I don't think it's ever been a point where we've looked at Jeremy Swayman's
06:24production his talent and been like
06:27Well, I can't this this might uh age this may not age very well
06:31Like again, it could it's the most volatile position in hockey
06:34But from what we've seen every year he has taken steps forward
06:37And if he's the same goalie that he was down the stretch last year in the playoffs
06:42You got a guy that should continue to get better and better. This is a guy that channels that
06:46Emotion, you know the you know a guy that has a chip on his shoulder
06:50Then he's probably even more motivated going into this year as well
06:52And I think that benefits the Bruins and it benefits him now being what the fourth highest paid goal active goalie in league
07:00Uh, it wasn't easy, but I think all sides kind of win at the end of the day, right?
07:04I was gonna say I mean for his camp like the you know
07:07Driving a tough ask, you know, they didn't get the 9.5 that they wanted but you know
07:12considering the Bruins reportedly came in I think it was what four times 6.25 and then he ends up getting eight times 8.25 like
07:19You got a two million dollar a year bump on top of what was already, you know, doubling your salary from this past season
07:26um
07:27And you know, you got more than the eight million
07:29So you got above 64 which is what the Bruins laid out and the Bruins lock up their goalie
07:34They don't have to trade them, you know, like they just didn't get that messy
07:37Uh
07:40So much for those clayton keller things dude gets named a captain
07:43Like the next day we don't have to worry about the the utah hockey team trade proposals or anything like that because again
07:49It wasn't going to equal what swineman?
07:52Brings this team that the one kind of missing piece they had beyond, you know, maybe scoring up front
07:58but the one missing ingredient was
08:00A number one franchise goalie and now they got him
08:03Pains me to uh to say the james hagens thing will probably not come to fruition really thought
08:08Really thought we had an idea there. Uh, but not quite
08:11Um, I did find it interesting though, obviously both sides on sunday morning did not really
08:16answer
08:17questions, uh clearly or
08:19um, you know, they weren't fully open about sort of the questions about the negotiations
08:24Swineman did kind of mention something along the lines of like, oh, well, we know the truth and this and that but
08:28Again, I think the ill will for him at least
08:31Probably goes away
08:32Uh, at least for now in terms of like hey, I just signed an eight year times 8.25 million dollar deal
08:37Like i'm set for life now. Um
08:39Uh now again, he is a he doesn't forget things
08:42So maybe there are things he's using to motivate himself
08:45In that things that were said in the negotiations that we don't even know. Um, but again, you know
08:51Didn't go into the regular season. It didn't it went to the you know, the very end of training camp
08:56Um, but it did not go all the way in to the regular season now the next question is
09:03When's he going to be ready?
09:04Uh, and on monday afternoon, you have jim montgomery saying that they have not ruled out potentially starting jeremy swayman
09:10uh, he had been and this
09:12pains me to say
09:13It hurts to say
09:15Uh, he had been training
09:17with bu
09:18for the last month
09:20And the staff over there, so he'd been training there. Yes. Yes to win for the terriers
09:26To win for the you know, main fans are freaking out about this
09:30I'm, ll bean so it's kind of like a terrier main kind of crossover, right?
09:34Yes, it is ll bean is as main as it gets. Um
09:38But again, I wonder how ready he there you go. Nice
09:42Nice this up for this segment. Is that the stress ball? Is that the terrier stress ball?
09:47Squeezing that's when they lose the bean pod. Yeah, that's why he doesn't this way doesn't have any ears. So
09:53We've been ripped off I I do wonder when he's actually ready
09:56I hope they're not rushing him for night one if he's if he actually isn't ready. I mean my guess is he probably is close
10:04Um, but what do you think?
10:07Yeah, well, you know, maybe they end up playing on thursday and it gives him the actual runway he needs
10:12But if they do have this game on on tuesday, um, yeah, it's fascinating in terms of
10:18Where swayman thinks he is and also again it falls on where the team thinks
10:23I'm, sure you look at swayman how competitive he is
10:25Of course, he's going to be like i'm ready to go like i've been at been on the gannett's been working
10:29You don't want to listen to players
10:30you don't want to listen to players when it comes to playing when they're not ready or playing when they're hurt because they're always
10:34Just gonna say yeah
10:35And again, like this could go in two different ways if they have this game on tuesday
10:39Like swayman could go out there and the guys are fired up
10:41He's back in the lineup and he stops 30 31 shots. The bruin stopped the air off of the win
10:47Or he's really rusty and you gotta hype it up
10:50I've remembered like the last time the bruins got smoked in their first game was the game against the capitals
10:56And I think it was after they uh raised their banner
10:59Right because it was 18 19 was it was started that year was
11:02Yes, and then they got obliterated like the only highlight from that from the bruins. I think was like marshand
11:07I think beating the crap out of laz eller. I think was the only I remember that. Yes, which again
11:12Maybe if the bruins do that and swayman it does start and he's rusty and they lose
11:17It maybe it starts a season where they go on another cup run because that's what happened that year. So but uh,
11:22Not to go off on a tangent, but I do think yeah, it falls on
11:26I think baba senza and the bruins stat to see just how ready he is because
11:30you know, listen every team in the nhl can beat any single night, but
11:34a team like florida that
11:36Has a lot of explosive talent having you know
11:39We've seen the last couple years team that likes to muck things up down in the crease. Um all those things
11:45Uh, that's gonna be an emotional game and again
11:48Both sides of the coin you don't want to put swayman in that spot when he hasn't faced live competition
11:52Maybe he's so jacked up that you get something out of it and the players are hyped up and all that
11:56um
11:57So I think that is definitely something worth monitoring
12:01I would probably lean more on like just being conservative and sticking with a guy that has been here in camp the entire time
12:07But we'll see that it also very well could just be gamesmanship from jim montgomery. He didn't really reveal
12:13Goalie, uh the goalie situation all last year during the playoffs and
12:17They were just getting a head start on it this year that that could be the case
12:20I also think like again, and I I doubt that he's actually fully game ready
12:25I think he could easily get himself up for playing the panthers and play really well. I have no doubt but
12:30I also wonder like, you know, he's making 8.25 million a year now
12:34third highest paid player on this team
12:36You're playing opening night. Like there's also that end of it too
12:39And I think you know like back to your point about the contract itself
12:42I think it's a gamble I do but I think it's a smart gamble. It makes sense as we've said before
12:46There's not a lot of uh red flags. There's really no red flags with him on ice or really even off
12:53um
12:54But there is now this added pressure
12:55There's a big added pressure where you're making 8.25 million a year
12:59You're the fourth highest paid goalie in the league. You got the ilia sorokin contract. You're locked in for eight years
13:05You better be good
13:06And there's there's again as you said there's pros and cons if they start that's if he starts that game against florida on tuesday and gets
13:12Crushed
13:13You know, is there that oh my god, like this gets this contract off on the complete wrong foot
13:19Or do they play it more conservative and say nope, we'll start you on thursday at home, uh against against montreal
13:26um
13:27Again, I guess we'll leave that up to goalie bob, but I would assume it's corpus alo on tuesday
13:31I would assume just given that you know, they've sort of said that the whole time
13:36um, but again
13:37Montgomery listens to his players on stuff like that. So maybe
13:41Maybe that is what it is
13:43Um, I want to get into the panthers that matchup because I think that's something this is not any just opening game
13:49Uh, and then I want to get into predictions predictions for the season. What do we think happens?

15:05Download the app and use code clns to get fifty dollars instantly
15:11After you play your first five dollar lineup prize picks run your game now back to the show
15:18So I think this game one has been you know
15:21talked about for a long time mentioned on behind the b and everything and part of the reason is because the panthers are a
15:26Measuring stick panthers have knocked the bruins out the last two years
15:29um, and the bruins sort of
15:31Kind of copying them in a sense looking to get bigger and stronger and tougher and not get pushed around by them
15:37Also adding guys like lindholm who can help with scoring. Um
15:41In the offseason, uh, and I think this is kind of a theme you're going to see all year is you know
15:46The how do the bruins match up with the panthers, um, the atlantic is interesting in this season because
15:52you know again on paper like
15:54The leafs are still going to be in it. The lightning are older. They're kind of teetering
15:58They did trade sergachev in the offseason. So you do wonder how much um that impacts things
16:03um, and then you have that that group of buffalo ottawa detroit that you're kind of waiting for them to
16:09All right, one of you guys should try to step into the playoffs
16:12Did you see that clip of lenis olmark talking to the canadian media? Yes
16:16Poor guy. I was like, I was like, I remember uh, I was like, I remember those omar scrums
16:21Yeah, and then you have montreal
16:24um, and so to me like I I think
16:27You know, the big thing is I still and we'll get to this later
16:30You know, I still put the bruins above the leafs and the and those other atlantic teams, but it really does come down to
16:36How do they fare against florida? And again, they beat them four times in the regular season last year
16:40So I guess we won't really know during the season unless something drastic happens throughout
16:45Yeah, no, exactly. I mean
16:48I still feel like florida is is the team to beat but I also you look at just how much you know
16:53Mileage they've tacked on the last couple years. It also wouldn't surprise me if they go on another run
16:58But maybe they're they're coasting a little bit more once you get to the regular season, right?
17:02like you don't really have to necessarily it's like lebron where he'd like take like five months off and then
17:07Would just turn it on for the playoffs and like again florida has the amount of talent there and the
17:12the experience now and all those things that they could easily do that, so
17:17Uh, I do think they're probably still right there with the bruins in terms of I would say on paper the the two best teams. Um,
17:24toronto
17:25The talents there obviously, uh, I do like uh tan of and that signing at least in the short term
17:31As a guy that kind of helps him out quite a bit there. I think he's a really good player, but
17:34You still have the goaltending questions there and we'll see if like, you know, if wall
17:39takes a big step forward for them, but
17:41um, and then you've got a you know, tampa
17:44pretty top heavy, but you look at like the bottom of their depth chart you're like
17:48Interesting, which again like tampa has a track record of those guys end up scoring 25 goals
17:53I was gonna say they all end up being nasty. Yeah, so you do run that risk. Um, so that's probably famous last words for me
17:59but um
18:01Yeah, I've it does feel like it's still going to be the usual suspects though like
18:06I still think you're going to have a situation where
18:09um
18:10You know buffalo which did not look all that great to start the year detroit
18:15All these teams are still going to be kind of blocked from
18:18The the other team still at the top of the atlantic. Um, I can't see
18:22You know, maybe detroit just sneaks through maybe like a team like tampa drops off
18:27But I don't expect any seismic it feels like every year there's always that talk of the sea change of
18:33the atlantic and some of these teams taking steps forward and
18:35you know, maybe team like montreal gets a little bit better just because of how much young talent they have but
18:40I still think it's going to be the usual
18:42Four teams all kind of fighting at the top of the division going into this year
18:45Yeah, I don't foresee any massive shift in the atlantic. Um again montreal is still in a rebuild
18:52They might be a little bit better love lane hudson, but I can't imagine you're in the you're in the playoff hunt
18:57um, and as you said again, buffalo detroit ottawa like
19:01I mean auto would probably be the favorite because you got old mark now
19:03So you do have a good goalie, but goalies also can be really weird in their first years in new places
19:09So that's another thing. Um over in the metro. Obviously you have new jersey
19:13Who's sort of the team that everybody suspects?
19:16Um is going to take a big step forward not just go from being you know
19:19A team that's out of the playoffs but a team that is competing for a cup
19:22and they certainly have the roster to do so so
19:25Um, I I I I think that you know for the bruins, so it's that it's that panthers matchup, you know
19:30How do you do against them?
19:31Every regular season game is going to be hyped up. But again bruins won all four last year still lost in six games
19:38um
19:38And I I don't like you mentioned it like, you know some sort of drop off and I agree like they are due
19:44but does that just mean as you said like
19:47You know in the regular season like third in the atlantic or something like that
19:52Um, but then turning it on in the playoffs and just kind of having it which is what we know they have
19:57Um, so i'm curious to see what happens
19:59I don't yeah in the atlantic. I don't see the metro. I think is more volatile. I think metro you've got
20:03a lot of possibilities
20:05Um, which we can kind of get to in a second because we are going to make some predictions
20:10He's always come true. We're going to make some predictions first. They all they always come true
20:15They always happen. Uh, but first quick words from our friends over at game time fall is beginning

22:04We'll be like let's look back at our predictions at the beginning of the year
22:06Um, and I think we might have done a podcast
22:09Like later in the summer
22:11That was sort of like bold predictions for like super bold predictions. Yeah
22:15Yeah, I don't think those I think we should probably like just scrub because I feel like those were like those are so heinously bad that
22:21Yes, like it's gonna work. We're not gonna dive into those yet. Um
22:26In terms of where you think they finish I found this interesting because I know what you're gonna say
22:30But I was reading your colleagues at the globe
22:32Um because you were included in that story obviously and everyone had them either third or wild card
22:38You differ explain
22:41Yeah, so I mean my I have them at 52 20 and 10 first in the atlantic. Um, and I just think again this
22:49I'm, very glad that I uh posted this
22:51Or after rather jeremy swayman signed his contract because that changes things but yes
22:56Um, like again, I think you look at this team and the way I always go into a year
23:02It's just looking at each individual player and you can I think have sweeping declarations of like
23:07How the decor looks and I think a lot of people are very high on that
23:10You look at jeremy swayman and the gold tending and all that
23:13um
23:14But even if you like look at you can paint I think with a wide brush like the brunettes might have some scoring trouble
23:19I think you look at each individual player and their individual growth and how they can contribute
23:25I think there's a lot of guys that it's not like you're asking this is what I you know
23:28I feel like i've happened this before it's not like
23:30You know two years ago when they went on that run and people were like, oh look bro
23:34But you know, we'll see what what they do but you're not asking for
23:38Frederick to go from you know, what was it?
23:40Like probably 13 goals to 28, you know or anything like that
23:44But can a guy like frederick can a guy like jake debrusk, you know on at right wing?
23:49uh, take a step forward can
23:51We're talking about two years ago good. I don't want people thinking that you're talking about debrusk for this current
23:57I looked at like that year and I was like
23:58Oh, this team actually could be a really damn good when you look at just guys that are in spots to succeed
24:02Um, and then moving it to this year whether it's you know
24:06On the fourth line can a guy like mark kastelik and johnny beecher who showcased stuff?
24:12last year max jones
24:14uh, can they take steps forward can mason lauri who got better and better every single time he was called up and
24:21By the end of the playoffs was dealing with the most, you know
24:24Physical floor checking team in the league in florida and looked like a pro in terms of maneuvering and getting out of trouble in those
24:30Things can he take a step forward? What about can elias lindholm and you know, we're not expecting him to have that 42
24:37goal
24:3882 point season
24:39But can he be a 65 point guy?
24:42Being on the bumper spot on the power play and riding a shotgun with david pasterak
24:45Yeah, and I think you just look all through the lineup. There's all those guys that um
24:50In terms of incremental improvement frederick morgan geeky. Um
24:55You've got a lot of guys that are either in their prime still young that have room to grow that
24:59yes, you've got the franchise guys, you got the poster knocks and the mac voice and all that but
25:04I think all around this roster
25:06you've got a lot of guys that have more and if they can all compliment each other and you're in a spot where
25:12You already have a really dynamic defense. You have a number one goalie in place that should get better
25:18um, you know scoring might be an issue, especially at the start of the year as you try to find the right pieces in place, but
25:23I really like how this team is built and even if uh, maybe
25:27First in the atlantic is overshooting it. I think even like jim mcbryde has them going to the cup because
25:33They're still a team that even if as long as you're in you have a chance
25:36And this feels like a team that if they can gel
25:39And get some cohesion and they play to their identity of I think what they tried to make this team into
25:44Over the offseason the team I think is going to be a tough out and sometime
25:47That's all you kind of need is just a lot of guys committed
25:49And a wide identity of being that tough out and you can go pretty damn far just kind of sticking to that
25:55You can and that's why I actually I agree with you and I think i've said this on a previous podcast
26:00They got better this offseason. I know they lost some depth pieces, but they also gained some depth pieces guys
26:05Like max jones mark kastelik
26:07um
26:08And then you have obviously the big signings of lindholm and zadoroff
26:11Um, they are much better on defense. They are much bigger on defense. They're more physical
26:16Um, you know, obviously in net you lose lena solmark. That does not help
26:20You know, you are going to have a couple letdown goalie games that you did not have last year be it swayman playing a lot
26:26uh corposalo stepping in
26:28I get that
26:29I just think this roster is good. I do and I you know
26:33My two question marks are that second line right wing spot when it comes to scoring?
26:37I have no doubt that marsh and coil and geek you're going to do their job defensively
26:41Um, but I do wonder about them scoring and providing legitimate top six production
26:45And the other thing is just team speed
26:47I mean you got a lot you got a lot of big guys now and I think that
26:50You know, they're going to be fast on four checks and things like that, but you do worry
26:53um, just you know overall team speed going up against teams like the abs who are wicked fast or the oilers who are a
27:00team that everybody kind of has uh as a cup pick this year, which
27:04again, I it's
27:06It's hard. I think it's I feel I think the field's wide open. So, you know, no judgment there. Um
27:12In terms of middle six scoring though, like geeky and frederick
27:15Never underestimate
27:17Someone in a contract year and both of those guys are in a contract here
27:21So would not shock me if those guys go off
27:23I have them first in the atlantic and I know this is like
27:26We sound like such bruins homers like of course these guys think they're going to be first in the atlantic
27:30Oh, the bruins goobers are at it again
27:33no, I think it's legit like I I honestly and I and I you know, a lot of your colleagues had them third or
27:39wildcard team
27:41I just don't
27:42Like this team is going to be hard to play against a and I think lindholm boosts your scoring a good amount
27:48I do
27:49I think that that for that top line whether zaka stays there whether they move marsh and onto it
27:54I think that line is really legit. So
27:57I I just I don't
27:59I don't like my expectations are very high for this team. They're very high
28:04yeah, and I just think yeah, you look at all the other players they got out there that um
28:09It's all about just setting reasonable expectations which is not usually what you do when it's
28:14bold prediction time before the season actually starts but like
28:17Even look at a guy like justin brazzo who kind of came out of nowhere last year
28:21And he's kind of been as advertised so far in the preseason
28:24He's got a simple game, but he's really good around that net
28:27And if like nick richie can score 15 goals just at the net front
28:31I think like a guy like brazzo is more skilled around there, especially when he's handling the puck like
28:36Have him in the third line
28:37you probably can get a guy that can contribute at pretty steady five on five pace like that's not saying that you know,
28:44If we were homers, I feel like it'd be like, oh justin brazzo is getting 25. No, but like I think he's got a lot of guys
28:49that
28:50um can continue to build their game and that's not saying right that like
28:54Oh, and then matt potter is gonna come up and he's gonna have 50 points and lycelle's gonna have a hat trick
29:00Like I think like it would not surprise me this team still
29:03At the deadline you have them in the mix for the next
29:07You know tyler to foley like those kinds of players that spread up every trade deadline the veteran 20 goal guys
29:13Uh, i'm sure they'll look at that especially they should be well. Yeah
29:17Um, who are those guys remains to be seen?
29:19I'll start my head have to think of who would be guys that we already know are gonna get dangled
29:24At the deadline, but I did see someone I think it was frank cerebelli had like brock nelson as someone
29:30Uh who who could be and that's a left shot guy, but yeah
29:34Yeah, so like i'm sure they'll be in the they'll be in the mix for that
29:37it may not be pretty especially at the start of the year, but
29:39I just think you have the pieces in place that especially over the span of a season like
29:44I imagine like charlie mccaboy is probably getting qb
29:46like, you know, he's gonna be qb1 on the power play, but
29:49As the year goes on maybe like mason lori is a better fit there
29:53and maybe he gives you more and like
29:55I'd be more intrigued with what this power play looks like at the end of the year when you've got lint home
30:00At the bumper who's you know settled into his role
30:04Potentially lori a left shot where I think especially passes to paasenach are a lot smoother with a left shot up there
30:09um, and a guy like lori who
30:12You saw it in spurts last year
30:13But like reminds you of a guy like krug except he's much taller in terms of like that creativity
30:19You know going down the wall all those kinds of things. Um, I just think you look at just the potential for this group
30:24Um is really really high especially when we get to the springtime when things actually start to matter, right? So, um,
30:31Yeah, I just think it's a really intriguing group. I really like the the makeup of the team
30:36I think it's going to be a fun team to watch like whether it's
30:38This fourth line that I feel like i've been talking about them for like weeks now of how excited I am to see how they play
30:44or like zadorov like it's also just fun having those players in the lineup that
30:48Give you you know, whether it's a a throwback to maybe the brunes teams
30:52You like in the past or what have you like? I remember
30:55Game one of the playoffs this past year where maroon played and he played, you know, what was it?
30:59Nine ten minutes, but like knocked a guy into a bench was chirping at them. Uh, like zadorov is like that
31:05But for a much longer, you know much more aggressive player and those guys are just fun to have in the lineup now
31:11It's not fun if he's not
31:13You know, uh, he's getting burned. Yeah, exactly. So you you need to you know, make sure he's still
31:19Adhering to you know that part of his game, but I just think that mentality that mindset that
31:25Uh intimidation factor that physicality. I think it can go a really long way
31:29Especially once you get to the playoffs, so I think it's gonna be a really fun year
31:33Uh, let's do uh, how far we think they get in the postseason because I think there's other parts to predictions
31:37I mean, you know, like, you know, how far does jim is jim montgomery, you know
31:41Does he get his extension at some point? Is he fired? I think espn had him getting or I think I think it was greg washinsky
31:48Um, and I hope i'm not getting this wrong. Uh wrote that his bowl prediction for the bruins was he was you know
31:52Montgomery doesn't last the year. Um
31:55I I think ultimately like they start out hot for the first, you know, however long I think montgomery just gets the extension
32:02I think that's probably what happens
32:04um in terms of playoffs though
32:07In terms of playoffs I gotta say
32:09I really wanted
32:12To say they at least go to the cup
32:14but I couldn't have them go to the cup and
32:17Be first in the atlantic it had to be one or the other
32:20So I have them losing in the eastern conference final
32:23to the carolina hurricanes
32:24I know
32:25I know the hurricanes have to get through at some point. I do like that team has to push through
32:32um
32:33But I think that this I think that's where it ends at least in the eastern conference final and it's caroline
32:39I wanted to say the rangers
32:40But I I don't know hurricanes to me just like have been at it forever
32:44And at some point they have to break through it would be the most hockey shit ever though of like, you know
32:48Like the capitol strongly won and that was like probably like one of the worst rosters they had of like that core
32:54It's like carolina's like lost like shea. They've lost all these guys like on defense but like
32:59They're kind of like the new tampa where they bring in these guys
33:02That are impact players right out of the gate. Like you look at the chat building some of these guys these past couple years
33:07After saying that by the way, the hurricanes aren't going to even be in the playoffs
33:11But like you look at all the guys they have and also like the amount of core younger players
33:15They have that like I feel like set jar was gonna like blow up again this year. Like yeah, um
33:21so
33:22uh
33:23I'm going bruins fall to the rangers in the conference final gonna say seven games and I think it just comes down to I
33:29think they're kind of
33:31Ideally kind of carbon copies of each other right in terms of a lot of speed a lot of uh size all throughout the lineup
33:37A lot of uh, you know physical play they rangers have a lot of really physical players. Um,
33:43both elite goaltending, um, but I just think probably overall scoring depth
33:48probably lifts the rangers just over uh, the bruins, but um, which again, I think if you're a bruins fan and they they
33:56Get to the brink of a cup final with this team that again
33:59Should continue I think to build when you look at these guys like lori and um, some of these younger players
34:04Guys that are still you know
34:05the bruins have gone from one of the oldest teams in the league to
34:08I think they're like in the bottom third or like middle of the pack right now because they've got a lot of guys that are
34:13in that
34:1526 to 30 range too. Um, yeah, so their team that again if this is kind of setting the foundation
34:20And your foundation is still
34:23The conference final game seven. I think you feel pretty good about where you are
34:26And I think I just think overall it's going to be a really fun year and uh, if we're wrong we can just delete the video
34:32It never happened this never has never happened. Um
34:37You know since 07
34:39Since 2007 the bruins there's one thing in the postseason that they've never done
34:44And they've never lost in the easter conference final and we're both predicting that this is the year that that finally happens
34:50I also
34:51What's it? What also is interesting though with um,
34:55With the bruins in general at least right now you look at this montgomery group, you know
34:59Obviously, they've had the heartbreak of 2023
35:02Uh sort of the little engine that could in 2000, you know earlier this year in 2024
35:07um
35:08You do wonder if like this group finally breaks through like they've been through
35:12You know the shit they've been through the last two years. Is this the year, you know, do they overcome the panthers?
35:18Do they over you know, if they played the hurricanes in these conference finals, they overcome the hurricanes
35:21Which is a team, uh that they kind of you know had at least had trouble with in 2021. So
35:26um
35:27I I just or 2022. Excuse me. Like I just
35:30I I have a tough time putting them in the cup. I do
35:33I think there's other teams in the east that just you know
35:36Are more in a position but it wouldn't shock me like what jim mcbride said about them going to the cup final
35:41It wouldn't shock me at all. Like they're built. They are built for the playoffs
35:44You think that's the the size element is for the postseason?
35:47It's not for you know, as long as they get in whether it's first second third wild card, whatever it is
35:53If they get in I think anything can happen and I know that's not like great analysis, but uh, it's true
35:58Anything kind of that is the truth. Do you have any like?
36:01Crazy predictions for the season for individual guys. I know I didn't tell you this before but like is there anything that you have cooking?
36:07You're like, oh
36:09Gotta say this one
36:10um
36:12I wouldn't say there's anything too crazy in terms of like mcavoy for norris or anything like that
36:18I'll say uh, you know, i'll buy into the hype though
36:21Maybe I am a homer. No, but uh, i'll say uh, vezna finalist top three for swainman. I think she's dark and wins it
36:28Swainman's top three and the brunes already feel pretty good about what that contract is. That's fair
36:33That's fair. I think you know if I had to if I had to pick one
36:38I really believe in low rye. I think low rye moves into some sort of qb1 on the power play nice 41 points
36:46Yeah, like some legit like a good point total
36:50You know
36:51I think that that those six like lindholm mcavoy low rye carlos adoroff peak. I think they rotate around
36:56I don't think that there's a set pairing and I think the biggest reason is because that kid just keeps playing
37:02Above what they think he's gonna be so yeah, I think he you know, whether it's 40 points somewhere around there
37:08And I think he has a couple highlight reel goals. We do sound like complete fucking homers
37:13But like I do I do I think he's I think he's phenomenal. So I think that ends up being the case
37:17That's like my little my little bold prediction. Um
37:21Well, i'm excited connor
37:23We made it
37:24We made it like this is it this is the we've made it. We did it. We did it. We did it connor
