00:00What's up guys, today I wanted to talk about the Galaxy S23 Ultra in 2024, it's mid-2024.
00:08This is still one of the best flagships that you can pick up in 2024.
00:13Really really impressive phone, one of my favorites to recommend, really to anybody
00:18who's looking for a newer flagship but you don't want to pay that $1000 price point.
00:25You can find these for around $678, you can see refurbished excellent version like the
00:33one here that I have.
00:35And yeah, absolutely love this phone, so let's go ahead and jump in.
00:38So the design is pretty much the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, just with some minor differences
00:45with the hardware as far as that phone having the titanium.
00:49This has the stainless steel and feels really good.
00:53This phone is super super boxy, Samsung did kind of fix it a little bit with the S24 but
00:58this phone is like crazy sharp on the edges and you kind of have to hold it like this
01:02so it doesn't poke the palm so much.
01:06But it is a very boxy phone so do note that if you have smaller hands, it can be a little
01:10bit difficult to hold these big boxy phones.
01:14So again, IP68 dust and water resistant, we all know about the S-Pen on here as well too.
01:20It's super super accurate, you can do digital artwork, you can do all types of stuff with
01:26the S-Pen.
01:27Samsung has software baked into here and like I said, super accurate when it comes to being
01:34able to do digital artwork.
01:36So you can just go on YouTube and you'll see a lot of people doing really amazing stuff
01:42with this pen.
01:43My favorite thing about this phone is the actual display here.
01:46So it is a curved panel which Samsung got rid of it.
01:50I really like the screen on this phone because I think it just has a little bit more premium
01:56feel.
01:57I do like the curved panel a little bit more.
01:59I like the way it looks.
02:00I know a lot of people for durability and also for screen protectors, they hate it.
02:05But I do like the look.
02:06So it is a 6.8 inch dynamic AMOLED display, it gets up to 1750 nits peak brightness so
02:12it's fairly bright outdoors and it's a full 1440p panel on here as well too, 540 PPI.
02:20It's a beautiful looking phone, absolutely fantastic looking device here.
02:25So the screen is top notch, it's still one of the best displays that you can get on a
02:29smartphone and yeah, I have no issues with the overall panel on here.
02:35Now of course this phone got all of the Galaxy AI features here so that was really nice and
02:42this phone will be getting a pretty good amount of updates, it will be getting years
02:46of updates so you don't have to worry about that of course.
02:49So you're pretty much set when it comes to software, you have the AI stuff, it's going
02:53to get updates.
02:55So essentially software wise it is almost the exact same or it is the exact same as
02:59a Galaxy S24.
03:03So performance is one of my favorite things about the S23 Ultra.
03:07It's got the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, we're able to play PUBG at 120 frames and
03:13it's just a really good phone to play games on.
03:17Now this phone, I don't have really any heating problems with this phone, I've never had it
03:21crash on me, it can definitely get a little bit warm like right now, it's just kind of
03:26warm to the touch but I've never gotten it to get hot or anything like that.
03:31So performance wise I would say it's pretty good on this phone so whether you're playing
03:36Call of Duty Mobile or PUBG or whatever, this is a very good gaming experience.
03:41You're getting the same gaming experience that you would get on a Galaxy S24 for a little
03:47bit cheaper as well.
03:48So we got Call of Duty next, let's see what settings we get.
03:53So we can play on Ultra, these are our best settings.
03:58Super super fast as well too.
03:59And yeah like I said guys, just playing like a couple matches and stuff really no issue
04:03so even if you're more of a hardcore gamer, I would not worry about performance or anything
04:09about this phone.
04:10I don't know about the other model, I think they have an Exynos model for this thing.
04:15I think they have an Exynos model but I can't get my hands on that version in the States.
04:20So yeah, performance wise it's just awesome, you really don't notice a difference at all.
04:25Let's check out these speakers at max volume.
04:49Really really excellent sounding speakers guys.
04:51Really really impressive quality.
04:54This is when Samsung really stepped up their speaker game in my opinion.
05:17Yeah just really crispy speakers here.
05:20Very well balanced, great bass.
05:22I absolutely love the speakers on here.
05:24This was a big upgrade from the S22 Ultra which has some of the, I think some of the
05:28weakest speakers that Samsung has ever put out.
05:32Camera quality is also another strong spot when it comes to the S23 Ultra.
05:37It is still an amazing photo taker and like I said it is pretty much on par with the S24
05:43Ultra as well.
05:44It's got a 200 megapixel main sensor, 10 megapixel telescope with a 3x optical, 10 megapixel
05:51periscope with a 10x optical, and then a 12 megapixel ultrawide.
05:56It shoots in 8K30 with a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60.
06:00A lot of people really like this camera because Samsung went to the 5x telephoto lens and
06:08this one has the older 10 megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
06:14So a lot of people like this camera a little bit more but I think they both do a great
06:19job.
06:20I think the 100x zoom is a little bit better on here because of that.
06:25But besides that I mean you can see for the video is really solid, the image quality is
06:31really crispy.
06:32I absolutely love everything about these cameras.
06:35Great dynamic range, great color science on here.
06:38The zoom photography is still unmatched.
06:40Samsung still does the best zoom photography.
06:42You can see the 10x photo is crazy good, really good detail on here.
06:47And yeah, everything else ultrawide, selfies come out great.
06:51This is an excellent camera and like I said if you buy this used refurbished you don't
06:55have to spend $1,000.
06:56You can get a world class camera for you know, I won't say cheap but definitely you don't
07:03have to spend that $1,000.
07:04But excellent when it comes to all the videos and photos and then you can use the S Pen
07:10if you're a content creator because it is Bluetooth so you can take videos, photos from
07:14a distance.
07:15So it is really well, you know, well made camera system.
07:18Alright so the battery life is definitely really good on this phone so if you are concerned
07:23with the battery life, it's really, really good.
07:26This is when again Samsung stepped it up.
07:28It's got a lot to do with this HN2 processor.
07:30And this one I had reset it so if you see it's kind of draining a little bit faster.
07:36If you see it's still learning my usage patterns and stuff like that so you know, I did reset
07:41it.
07:42But this has learned everything, trust me guys.
07:45This is very, very good screen on time.
07:48Very good battery life.
07:49I was really impressed.
07:50I remember when I first got this one and unboxed it, the battery life, I was shocked because
07:56if you compare the battery life to the older Samsung flagships, I don't care if you got
08:01yours like brand new S22, S21, the battery life is okay on those but this is when Samsung
08:06really stepped it up and I really noticed like I was like wow the battery life is really
08:10lasting a very long time on this phone.
08:14So yeah, so 5,000 mAh battery, 45 watt charging, wireless and reverse wireless charging is
08:19on board and absolutely a beast when it comes to screen on time.
08:24Especially for a lighter user, absolutely awesome.
08:27So S23 Ultra is a fantastic phone.
08:30I definitely would get one if you guys were looking for something new but you don't want
08:35to spend, you know, a bunch of money.
08:38I think, I think you could, like I said, you can even trade your old phone in.
08:47You can trade it in on Amazon, I'm pretty sure you probably can trade it in on Samsung's
08:53website as well too.
08:54But if we look for S24, again, nah, this is probably way too much.
09:01Yeah, that's 512 gigabyte.
09:03You can spend $1,000, get this one, $970 but like I said, you can spend $700 and get essentially
09:12the same phone.
09:13There's virtually no difference.
