00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning forecast.
00:04Warnings for rain have been issued throughout Thursday and we'll see some high rainfall
00:08totals.
00:09However, through this morning also, an ice warning extends from the Northern Isles all
00:13the way down, particularly over the higher ground towards border regions, North East
00:16England inland.
00:17Elsewhere, rain warnings will mean we could see some high rainfall totals.
00:21The risk of flooding as well, especially vulnerable places such as the Brecon Beacons where we
00:25could see up to 80mm over the next 12 hours or so, and also Aberdeenshire seeing up to
00:31110mm of rain.
00:33So it is a wet and windy start to the day, still some snow over the highest ground.
00:37The air remains cold.
00:39Showery bursts also for Northern Ireland, Northern England, the Midlands, Wales, Central
00:43Southern England as well as the West Country.
00:45Further east though, a chilly morning and a mostly cloudy one.
00:48Drier skies here though.
00:51Wherever you are, the winds will be fairly strong and they'll pick up to Galeforce along
00:55the coast through the day across more western areas.
00:58As the rain intensifies through the morning across Northern Ireland, pushing in across
01:02West Wales, the Isle of Man as well as western parts of Scotland and the West Country.
01:07That rain extends towards Northern England and much of Scotland through the afternoon.
01:10And some patchy rain also for the eastern strip of England.
01:14But further east down towards East Anglia and the South East, you'll see some dry weather
01:17until much later on in the day.
01:19By lunchtime, a rain warning also for the Midlands where we could see some high rainfall
01:23totals.
01:24The risk of some surface water issues here as Northern Ireland becomes drier through
01:28the afternoon.
01:29Temperatures here, 11 degrees Celsius, so a milder end to the day, but a wet evening
01:34to come across much of Scotland, Northern England, the Midlands, eastern counties.
01:38Further spells of heavy rain and then some clearer skies for a time through the early
01:42hours of Friday morning as rain becomes confined to the Northern Isles.
01:46But waiting in the wings, another area of low pressure, strong winds and showery bursts
01:50of rain.
01:51So as we head through Friday morning, not as cold as it has been, even so, it's another
01:55windy day, especially towards the west.
01:58Brighter skies will emerge across the Midlands southeastwards, so you should see some dry
02:02weather through the morning.
02:03But these showers towards the west will merge to form longer spells of rain, especially
02:07across Wales, northwest England, Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland, yet again
02:11down towards the West Country.
02:12And watch out for some high waves associated with those strong winds.
02:16The showers then arrive across Scotland through the afternoon, extend towards the Midlands,
02:20eastern counties, and then eventually we'll see some showery bursts just move in across
02:24the southeast.
02:25So a showery day on Friday, leading into an unsettled weekend with rain or showers.
02:29I'll see you later.
