25 August - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there. Some welcome rain for fields, gardens and parks through into Thursday morning
00:06across eastern counties of England. But with that, the risk of thunder, lightning and also
00:11some heavy downpours for a time, particularly through Thursday morning. Before that, on
00:16Wednesday evening, this weather front here straddles the West Country, the Midlands,
00:20Wales towards eastern counties and we could see some sharp bursts of rain before things
00:24tend to ease a little bit. Some sharp showers also for East Anglia and this weather front
00:28will gradually skirt towards the south-east through the night as that rain intensifies
00:33across the south-east. Elsewhere, some clearer skies but still some showers filing in across
00:37western Scotland, the far north and west of Northern Ireland. But further south, look
00:41at these temperatures, 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, an uncomfortable night for sleeping yet again.
00:47First thing then on Thursday morning, some dry and bright weather, some sunshine across
00:51much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, the far north-west of England, Wales and the West
00:54Country. A few showers tracking in across western Scotland, dry elsewhere. We run into
00:59this thicker cloud across the Midlands and this heavy thundery rain anywhere from East
01:03Anglia down towards the south-east. Now this rain will cause problems through rush hour
01:07on Thursday morning. Thunder and lightning also an issue and it will gradually just skirt
01:12its way towards Lincolnshire as we head through the morning until lunchtime. So some heavy
01:18bursts to come and then slowly it will clear. But generally around lunchtime we'll see the
01:23rain easing from the south. By mid-afternoon most places will be dry. Elsewhere, some bright
01:28weather, some sunshine. The showers could pep up across western Scotland and more cloud
01:32will move in across Northern Ireland with some showery rain to end the day here. Elsewhere,
01:37it's a pleasant day, it's a warm one in the sunshine. Temperatures typically the high
01:41teens, the low twenties. Down towards the south-east though, yet again we'll see some
01:45humid air, values here around 25 or 26 degrees Celsius. Now through Friday, the chance of
01:51some showery rain anywhere across Northern Ireland, the central belt of Scotland down
01:55towards Northern England as well as Wales. The broader picture, it's an occlusion which
02:00will track across the country, perhaps bringing a few showers further south and east. But
02:04mostly the weather will become settled through the latter part of Friday with a ridge extending
02:08into the weekend. A cool start to the day on Saturday, some fine and dry weather. A
02:12few rogue showers before more cloud and rain just skirts the north and the west of Scotland
02:17through Sunday and into Monday. Elsewhere, it's a pleasant day into Monday with some
02:21warm sunshine. So here's your city's list for Friday. You can see where those showers
02:25are, where the fine and dry weather will be. And then into the weekend, it's pretty much
02:30fine with some sunshine, a few showers around. Then on Sunday, watch out for the rain across
02:35the western side of Scotland. Bye bye.
