00:00Alright guys, today we're going to be doing the S10 Plus versus the S24 Ultra.
00:06This could be a pretty good upgrade for Galaxy S10 Plus users for the most part if you're
00:12looking to upgrade, there's a lot to like.
00:15And of course there are going to be some downgrades here as well too.
00:18So let's go ahead and jump into it.
00:20I think the first thing that stands out with this phone if you are deciding to upgrade
00:26is the design, it's completely changed.
00:28The S series used to have, you know, not as of a boxy design and now the S series is basically
00:34the Note and it has that more boxy design.
00:37So that's the first thing you'll notice is that it's just going to be a little bit more
00:40uncomfortable to hold in the hand, it kind of cuts in the palm as you can see right there.
00:45And the S10 kind of like sits in the palm and it's not, you know, as aggressive on that
00:50curve.
00:51Alright, so another difference is you do have a matte finish on here as well on the S24,
00:56it's got the titanium design so it is light for such a big phone or kind of light.
01:03And on the S24 it's got that glossy back but this color in particular doesn't really show
01:07fingerprints which is something that I've always appreciated, you can't really see the
01:11fingerprints.
01:12It has kind of like a pearl color as well too when it hits the light which I always
01:15thought was really cool.
01:17There is two big differences with the hardware.
01:20You have a headphone jack on the S10 Plus that you will be losing and you will be losing
01:24SD card support on the S10 Plus.
01:28You will be gaining the S Pen on the Galaxy S24.
01:33This S Pen can be used to do quite a bit as far as digital artwork, just jotting down
01:39notes and then Samsung will have some built in software on here as well too to be able
01:44to take advantage, smart select, screen write, all that good stuff.
01:48So you can take advantage of the S Pen if that's something that interests you.
01:53But yeah, that's essentially the big hardware differences.
01:55They're both IP68 dust and water resistant as well too.
01:59Alright, so let's talk about the displays here.
02:02It's a pretty decent display upgrade for the most part.
02:06So you do have a 6.8 inch dynamic AMOLED display, it's LTPO, 120Hz HDR10+, 2600 nits peak brightness,
02:141440p and then you have 505 for the PPI on the S24.
02:20And on the S10 you do have a 6.4 inch display so it's a much smaller screen for sure.
02:28And then it's dynamic AMOLED HDR10+, it is also 1440p, 522 for the PPI.
02:34The S10 Plus still looks really great, Samsung is supposed to fix this color issue with the
02:39S24.
02:40It does have a curved display as well too, Samsung has gone completely flat now with
02:46the S24 as well too which you might like.
02:48And then you have the double punch hole up top versus just the single punch hole in the
02:53middle as well.
02:55But as far as the quality of the S10 Plus, it still actually looks really good, it's
02:59the same resolution.
03:00The only thing here is that it's lacking any type of high refresh rate.
03:04It does have a pretty smooth 60Hz panel for the most part and it's still a really good
03:08display honestly.
03:10So basically the display upgrades here would be obviously the size of the display.
03:16You do have slimmer bezels as well, it's flat.
03:18And then you have 120Hz which is just basically going to make it feel much smoother when you're
03:22scrolling and swiping.
03:24And it is brighter in direct sunlight as well too.
03:28But overall the S10 Plus still has actually a fantastic display now that I'm looking at
03:32it head on.
03:34It's still very high quality.
03:35Alright so let's talk about the software here real quick.
03:40So you are running Android 14 on the S24 and this phone will get 7 years of major OS
03:46updates.
03:47The S10 Plus, it's last major OS update was Android 12 when you were at 4.1.
03:53And let's talk about the specs a little bit more here.
03:57Now as you guys can see the Geekbench scores here.
04:00You have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the S24.
04:04It is 256GB of internal storage, 12GB of RAM on the base.
04:08This is the 512GB model though.
04:10And on the S10 it's running the Snapdragon 855, 128GB of internal storage, and 6GB of
04:16RAM on the base.
04:17And as you can see here, here are the single and multi-core scores on Geekbench 6.
04:22And like I've been saying pretty much with a lot of these phones, these older flagships
04:28are still really fast.
04:29I think I've pretty much proven it.
04:33As for the casual user or honestly anybody, even if you're more of a hardcore user, when
04:38we're talking about just navigating the OS here, it's not like a crazy big difference
04:44in terms of app opening, it's not a crazy big difference in terms of just the smoothness
04:49and animation.
04:50Like I said, the real thing you'll notice here is actually the 120Hz.
04:53It's not necessarily the processor being so much faster, right?
04:58Let's try to get in a TikTok.
05:02It's locked out.
05:04But yeah, I think you might notice kind of a difference when it comes to games.
05:11Like the S24 will kind of get in a little bit faster.
05:22So you can see right there, again, that's like the biggest difference you'll see in
05:27terms of app loading.
05:30But as far as like navigating and stuff, the S10 is actually still pretty fast for the
05:35most part.
05:36All right.
05:37So as far as gaming, the S10 Plus still does pretty well.
05:41You guys see I got a little bit of screen damage here.
05:45But for the most part, it still plays PUBG pretty decently.
05:49The Snapdragon 855 is actually still very capable.
05:53You can see we're at HDR Extreme still in 2024.
05:57It's a very powerful phone for the most part here.
06:00So if you're a casual gamer, you won't really notice too much of a difference for the most
06:05part.
06:06But if you do play a lot of games, the biggest thing that you will notice is probably one
06:10battery life is going to be much better when you're playing these games.
06:14Also, the screen is better on here.
06:17So you do have that 120Hz, so you're able to play games at a higher refresh rate.
06:22And for a game like PUBG, this will play at 90 frames.
06:27And yeah, so the experience is going to be definitely better if you're somebody who's
06:30a hardcore gamer and you're looking to upgrade.
06:33You get better battery life.
06:34It's better cooling.
06:35You're going to get better settings for the most part.
06:39It's a pretty good upgrade if you're somebody that plays a ton of games, emulators, stuff
06:42like that.
06:43But if you're a casual gamer, honestly, I don't think you're going to notice too much
06:47of a difference because if you're just playing a match, PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile, the S10
06:52Plus, as we saw, still does an excellent job at playing these games, whether it's Call
06:57of Duty or whatever.
06:59Let's check out the Mac speakers.
07:21So, of course, the S10 Plus has a pretty good speaker for the most part, but the S24
07:42is definitely a better speaker.
07:44It's louder and it also has more bass as well too.
07:48Also, both phones have the same ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and they both have face
07:53unlock as well too, so not too much different going on there.
07:58Now, the camera upgrade is probably going to be the biggest upgrade for an S10 Plus
08:03user.
08:04I was pretty surprised with some of the photos, especially in daytime, but you can really
08:08see the difference when we get to lower light shots.
08:12That's where the S24 really starts to excel and also, I thought the video also was really
08:17good.
08:18You saw a difference there.
08:19So, I think there's a pretty good camera upgrade here for the most part and also, you get a
08:22lot more versatility with the S24.
08:25So, the S24 does have a 200 megapixel standard, a 50 megapixel telephoto, 5x optical, then
08:33a 10 megapixel telephoto, and then that also has a 3x optical, 12 megapixel ultrawide,
08:40you can shoot in 8K24, and then you also have a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60.
08:47You also have the ability to do the 100x zoom as well, and the S10 Plus, it does have the
08:5412 megapixel standard, 12 megapixel telephoto, 2x optical, and then a 16 megapixel ultrawide,
09:00it can shoot in 4K60, and then you also have a 10 megapixel selfie cam with a depth sensor
09:06as well that's 8 megapixels, and that shoots in 4K60 as well.
09:10So, check out these side-by-side stills, let me know what you guys think.
10:48Now, I touched on this a little bit earlier, but the battery life situation is definitely
10:57an upgrade here, so with the S24, you do have a much bigger battery at 5,000 milliamps,
11:03and it definitely, you can tell the difference, got 45 watt charging as well too, it's also
11:08got wireless and reverse wireless charging.
11:10With the S10 Plus, you do have a much smaller 4,100 milliamp hour battery, it's 15 watt
11:16wire charging, and then you also have wireless and reverse wireless charging, so the battery
11:20upgrade here is pretty nice, you have faster charging, and you also have much better battery
11:25life than the S10 Plus, even if the S10 Plus was brand new, with no usage, it's still gonna
11:31have much better battery life, the S24.
11:34Alright, so that is pretty much it, I think this is somewhat of a solid upgrade, I thought
11:42the cameras were much better, you get a better display, pretty good hardware, even though
11:48I like the S10's design a little bit more, cameras I think are pretty nice on here, and
11:54also not to mention you get the software in seven years of major OS updates, and also
11:59not to forget about the Galaxy AI, which I'm not sure how many people are gonna use this
12:06for the most part, I don't know if it's, it might be more for tech-savvy people, but the
12:11events, I might make a video about this, just going over all the features, but there's
12:16a ton of stuff with Samsung's Galaxy AI that is really cool, but like I said, how many
12:21people are gonna use this, not really sure, but yeah, you could definitely take advantage
12:26of these features here, they are pretty cool for the most part here, yeah, but overall
12:33I think it's a pretty decent upgrade, if you're looking to upgrade, I would say, you know,
12:38go ahead and make that move, if that's something you want to do, and you want to know if it's
12:42worth it, I do think it's a pretty solid upgrade, but like I said, it's gonna be costly, I honestly
12:49would, like, look at the S23 Ultra, and try to save some money, because it's just gonna
12:55be a lot of money, and you could probably get the S23 Ultra, which is essentially the
12:59same phone, for the most part, so let me know what you guys think, and I'll catch you guys
13:03in the next one.
