00:00How to communicate to the youngest in the family the experience of a metastatic oncological disease?
00:11It is called Adventures in the Box, the illustrated novel published by Gilead,
00:15in which Enea and Sophia, together with their parents,
00:18decide that the mother's disease, the metastatic breast cancer,
00:21will not prevent them from living beautiful and magical adventures.
00:25In a jar will be put some notes that will be fished to give life to desires.
00:30Thus begins the story born from the experience of Lauren Huffmaster,
00:34a mother with metastatic breast cancer,
00:36in line with what Marie Curie said, among the most famous women in history,
00:41in life nothing should be feared, but understood.
00:44This is just a flower, a very thin sword,
00:49the way in which a brave mother can fight to give hope to her children,
00:56to tell them a story that is not just that of care
01:00and that of holidays that perhaps cannot be done because the mother is not well.
01:06Gilead has chosen the Festival Eredità delle Donne in Florence
01:09to present in advance the book, which will soon be available for free.
01:14The theme on how to communicate the metastatic breast cancer to children is very current,
01:18but little debated, and what happens next?
01:20How to face the most complex moments that therapies involve?
01:24It is a map that guides people who live this experience
01:31to search for reference points, such as the jar.
01:37The jar is something reassuring because it contains and has symbolic contents.
01:45Let's think of the sea star, let's think of a part of the meteorite.
01:51They are all small pebbles, like in Hansel and Gretel's fables,
01:57that leave a memory of the things done, especially those done together.
