00:00In Syria, government forces have neutralized more than 400 extremists, recuperating terrorist
00:17held areas in the cities of Aleppo and Italy.
00:25The government of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melani faced a second general strike,
00:29submitted by the country's largest trade unions on Friday.
00:37Thousands of Amazon workers protested in more than 20 countries during Black Friday to press
00:42for better working rights and climate actions from the U.S. retailers.
00:53Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrera from the Telesur headquarters
00:57in Galapagos, Venezuela.
00:58We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:14In Syria, government forces have neutralized more than 400 extremists, recuperating terrorist
01:20held areas in the cities of Aleppo and Italy.
01:22The Syrian army counter-offensive has been maintained in the last eight hours against
01:26the positions of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group and its allies, sponsored by Western
01:33powers.
01:34Syrian troops have carried out joint operations in the towns of Arija and Zarmada, which have
01:40been under siege by the extremist fighters in the province of Italy.
01:45Lead sources explain that after containing the massive terrorist attack, the Syrian military
01:52with the support of the Russian aviation and allied militias managed to recapture the towns
01:57of Qanalsa, in addition to Tal Ruken Hill and the police school in Aleppo.
02:09As part of the siege by the extremist groups, at least four civilians were killed by missiles
02:14at the university of the city of Aleppo.
02:17The terrorists also left more than a thousand wounded, where the Syrian army repelled five
02:23rounds of attacks on the city of Anadan, on the southwestern side.
02:33The Lebanese armed forces denounced the Israeli occupation army for numerous violations of
02:38the ceasefire agreement less than 24 hours from its implementation.
02:41The Lebanese armed forces said that on the 27th and 28th, Israeli forces violated several
02:47times the ceasefire agreement.
02:49This consists of air riots and attacks with different weapons on the territory.
02:56On Wednesday, in the first hours of the effective day, the signings troops were reported by
03:01civilians against whom they fought to intimidate the return to their homes.
03:07An international press team was also attacked by occupation forces.
03:12The Lebanese army assured that it is conducting an investigation with the relevant authorities.
03:24The Israeli occupying forces have committed three new massacres in the last 24 hours in
03:28the Gaza Strip, claiming at least 33 lives and injuring 137 others.
03:33Palestinian authorities denounced that Israel goes on with its genocide against civilians
03:38killing thousands of Gazan families in the latest 24 hours.
03:42The Gaza Health Ministry briefed that since October 7, 2023, the Palestinian death toll
03:48amounted to over 44,363, while the figure of wounded surpassed 105,070 people.
04:01The Israeli regime dropped shellings on a five-floor building al-Saitun, Gaza's southern
04:07town, killing a young man and injuring several others on Thursday evening.
04:12Furthermore, the Israeli lead runs even target paramedic teams to stop them from providing
04:18medical assistance, ordering the head of the intensive care department at Kamal Adan Hospital
04:23in northern Gaza.
04:29How many TV channels are there?
04:31Are they all blind and have dead hearts?
04:33They do not hear, see or feel.
04:35They do not hear the screams of orphans or the screams of mothers at night.
04:39And they do not see us running and carrying bags all day long because a tank is at the
04:43door.
04:44Who do I appeal to?
04:45We are tired of meetings and programs and we are fed up with the news.
04:49No one feels for us.
04:54The UN World Food Programme, WFP, has called again on powers to guarantee access to basic
05:00supplies into Gaza, warning that all bakeries in central regions are shut down.
05:07On social network X, the UN agency states that all bakeries in central Gaza have shut
05:12down due to severe supply shortages.
05:16Bread is a lifeline for many families, often the only food they can access.
05:22Now even that is splitting out of reach.
05:26WFP, though, continues its call for safe and secure access of vital humanitarian aid into
05:33Gaza.
05:39Countries around the world celebrate International Day of Solidarity with the people of Palestine
05:44in the midst of the genocidal operations carried out by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
05:48On November 29th, the international community is focused on the defense and struggle for
05:53a free and independent Palestine after the approval of Resolution 181 in 1947 in the
06:00United Nations stipulating the creation of a Jewish state and an Arab state in Palestine.
06:06However, only a part of this reform has been accomplished, that is the creation of the
06:11Israeli state.
06:12In this way, the international community reaffirms its historical claim for an independent Palestinian
06:18state in the midst of the Zionist genocide, which has claimed the lives of more than 34,000
06:23civilians since October 7th, 2023.
06:30In this regard, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said International Day of
06:33Solidarity with the Palestinian people an occasion to reaffirm the firm and historic
06:40position against the policy of extermination carried out by the Zionist government of Israel
06:45against Palestine.
06:47We are deeply pained by the crimes being committed daily against the children, women and men
06:51of Palestine, this sacred land of all of which today is suffering a life homicide.
06:58The most important battle that humanity has is for the human homeland, for the liberation
07:03of Palestine and for Venezuela.
07:05We are doing everything possible so that solidarity is expressed in concrete terms.
07:10The Palestinian people deserve justice and with the support of all humanity, sooner rather
07:14than later, we will win.
07:21While the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said in a statement,
07:25this year, as we commemorate this solemn day, we reflect on the painful reality that fundamental
07:31goals of peace, dignity and justice for the Palestinian people seem more unachievable than
07:36ever.

08:03Welcome back to From the South.
08:04The government of Italian Prime Minister, Giorgio Molani, faced a second general strike
08:09summoned by the country's largest trade union on Friday.
08:12The General Italian Confederation of Labour and the Italian Labour Union called for the
08:17rallying against the 2025 general budget.
08:20In addition, they are demanding period raises, including pensions, rent-a-map, funds for
08:26health, education and public services.
08:28Furthermore, the protesters announced the national and international air and maritime
08:33transport will stop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time on Friday.
08:37Moreover, medical services will further join these pegs, including the essential ones.
08:44So far, unions have prepared demonstrations all over the nation.
08:55The government has ordered us to work to prevent us from striking, after passing a
08:59budget law without consulting the unions in any way.
09:03They want our silence, and they want to enforce it by force.
09:07Today, we will show that workers can stand up for themselves and fight against a government
09:12that is against workers.
09:20We are out here with all the workers to protest against this financial bill, which fails to
09:24provide contracts with adequate economic recognition for all workers, including those in health
09:29care and beyond.
09:31Our demands are for the renewal of contracts, lowering taxes and implementing tax rate that
09:35don't take away half of your salary."
09:43For almost two weeks, the Canadian Union for Postal Workers has been on strike against
09:47Canada's post rallying for dismissing those in pig lines, among other concerning issues.
09:56According to the Canada Labour Code, no workers can be fired in the middle of a strike.
10:01In this regard, union leaders of over 55,000 workers share such intimidating measures intending
10:08to spread further over protesters.
10:11Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour and Seniors Stephen McInnes just said that the special
10:19mediators appointed by the federal government is temporarily off duty.
10:24As a result, there have been hundreds of these missiles, even though the Canadian Union has
10:29not confirmed the accurate figure yet.
10:36Thousands of Amazon workers protested on strike in more than 20 countries during Black Friday
10:41through press of overworked rights and flaming actions from U.S. retaliators.
10:46Workers and representatives from unions and workers' groups joined protesters against
10:51the Seattle-based company's practices between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, one of the
10:57biggest shopping weekends in the year.
11:01The strike is planned in big cities across the U.S., Germany, the U.K., Turkey, Canada,
11:06India, Japan, Brazil, and other countries.
11:10It is coordinated by the Amazon Pay Company, which calls on Amazon to pay its workers fairly
11:17and respect their rights to join unions, pay its fair share of taxes, and commit to environmental
11:23sustainability.
11:24We came in the streets because this should be reached to the parliament, this should
11:32be reached to the media houses, this should be reached to the general public, that when
11:36you order something through apps and the things come to you in just one click away, there
11:42is a reality going in the background at every step of the packaging, delivering, the workers
11:47getting inspired here.
11:48That's why we're here on the streets.
11:49If you look at the working conditions there, it is bad.
12:01The way of getting the work done there is that one has to achieve a lot of targets.
12:05Our basic salary is $119, which should be at least a minimum of $295.
12:13And the environment there is to work under pressure.
12:18Chad announced its determination to break security and defense cooperation agreements
12:22with France.
12:23Through a communique, the government informed about the decisions to end the cooperation
12:27agreement.
12:28However, it emphasized that the decision also did not question the historical relations
12:32and friendly ties between the two nations.
12:35Chad was the latest country with a French military presence in the Sahel following the
12:39withdrawal of French troops from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria.
12:43The African country's announcement comes just hours after the visit of the head of
12:47French diplomacy, Jean-Noël Barraud.
12:54This is a fruitful visit that will strengthen our bilateral relations in every respect.
12:58France is an essential partner.
13:00But it must now also consider that Chad has grown up.
13:02Chad has matured.
13:03Chad is a sovereign state that is very jealous of its sovereignty.
13:07In the Israeli parliament on Friday passed a world first law banning to use social media
13:14by teens under 16.
13:16The bill will make platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram labeled to fines of
13:22up to US$33 million for systematic failures to prevent children under 16 from having accounts.
13:30The Senate passed the bill on Thursday by a vote of 34 to 19.
13:34On Wednesday, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the legislation with
13:40102 votes in favor.
13:41Prime Minister Antonio Albanese said the bill supports parents' concern about their
13:47children being harmed online.
13:49Social platforms have a year to decide how to implement the ban before sanctions are
13:54imposed.
13:55Because at present, we still face the same problem that young people will be off the
14:02platform until they turn 16, then the moment they turn 16, they're eligible to get an
14:08account with no education, no guidelines, no one there to hold their hand through understanding
14:16what could and couldn't be good decisions on these sorts of platforms.
14:21That's my biggest concern with it.

15:23Chaita Wengwun, reported that floods killed one student and displaced more than 2,700
15:29people.

15:44of the province until earlier December.
15:53In Colombia, a building collapsed in Barranquilla has resulted in the death of a woman and the
15:58rescue of her children from the rubble.
16:00Colombia military officials confirmed the incident, which took place in the residential
16:04area of the city.
16:05Emergency response teams worked to allocate and extract the children who were found alive
16:12in the debris.
16:13Authorities are now investigating the cause of the collapse, raising concern about construction
16:18standards and safety regulations in the region.
16:21This incident underscores ongoing issues related to urban infrastructure in Colombia, where
16:25similar tragedies have occurred due to the inadequate enforcement of the building codes.
16:34I saw parts of the walls coming down, but I didn't really believe the building was going
16:38to collapse.
16:39I looked out several times to check, sometimes I could see it tilting, but I thought it was
16:43the effect of the light or something.
16:45But when I went out to look for my wife, my sister called to tell me that the building
16:49had collapsed.
16:50Also in Colombia, the government moves forward in the legislation for the distribution of
16:58land among rural women.
16:59The initiative seeks to promote a social and economic welfare of the sector that is part
17:04of the initiatives towards an agrarian reform in the country and a closed shortage in the
17:09region.
17:10The decree 1396, signed by President Petro, Vice President Francia Marquez and Minister
17:16of Agriculture Martha Carvajalino, the regulation establishes, among other things, that the
17:22Ministry of Agriculture and the Rural Development Agency will provide assistance in the structure
17:28and promotion and management of the resources for rural women at an individual and family
17:33and community level.
17:34Also, beneficiaries will be able to access preferential lines of credit to finance their
17:40activities.
17:41During a historic ceremony, Rwandan Education Secretary Daniel Enrique Punda declared the
17:51Western Department of Copan to be free of illiteracy.
17:57These achievements of the National Illiteracy Program, promoted by the government of President
18:03Jimena Castro, has allowed more than 383,000 people to read and write.
18:10Today, seven departments and 252 municipalities are free of illiteracy.
18:17Honduras expects to completely end illiteracy by the first quarter of 2025.
18:31The Nicaraguan Parliament approved on Thursday an important reform to the general law on
18:37immigration and foreigners with the aim of guaranteeing the protection of national sovereignty.
18:42The legislature has also introduced amendments to the penal code in order to modernize and
18:49strengthen the nation's legal framework.
18:51Parliamentarians stressed during the session that aligns body-threatening border controls
18:57to combat organized crimes, human trafficking, and smuggles, as well as terrorism and threats
19:03to the territory.
19:05To strengthen our legal framework, to adapt it to the new times, in order to strengthen
19:13border controls at the national level, and guarantee citizen security, positioning our
19:18country as one of the safest countries in the region.
