02:42In addition, the destruction of 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure has forced
02:46thousands of Gazans to survive in extreme conditions, facing devastation and lack of
02:51basic resources.
02:58The Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people does not stop, according to the latest

04:09accused in three separate cases of tax fraud, bravery and breach of trust.
04:15The premier is expected to return on Wednesday.
04:18He denies any wrongdoing and says that the charges are the witch hunt orchestrated by
04:22the hostile media and emphasize a legal system that seeks to overthrow him.
04:31And outside the courtroom in Tel Aviv, where Netanyahu is on trial, some 200 people demonstrated
04:38and called for the resignation of the prime minister.
04:41Among the demonstrators are the leftist activists and relatives of the hostages held in Gaza.
04:46Many critics question whether the Israeli leader is capable of governing the country
04:51in his legal troubles and international law reservations for war crimes in Gaza and several
04:59other war fronts that now include an incursion into Syrian territory.
05:09The government of Iran warned that an in contingent of U.S.-trained terrorists is preparing to
05:16attack Iraq.

05:28He also points out that in the last 24 hours, the Israeli regime attacked at least 250 military
05:34points and infrastructure in the Syrian territory.
05:37On the other hand, the Iranian ministry of foreign affairs strongly condemned the actions

06:52Welcome back to From the South.
07:01Communes and the people's power mobilized in the streets of Caracas, Venezuela to commemorate
07:05the 165th anniversary of the Battle of Santa Inés.
07:09The rally was carried out to pay tribute to the liberation battle where the forces of
07:14the revolutionary Patriot Ezequiel Zamora come from the forces of the conservative General
07:20Pedro Estanislao Ramos, peasants, fishermen, community members, workers and students also
07:28participate in the mobilization to express their support of the historical data and the
07:33agrarian policies promoted by the President Nicolás Maduro.
07:37The president of the National Farmers Union, Rosibel Zamora, reaffirms the support of
07:42farmers to President Nicolás Maduro.
07:52The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the commemoration of the 165th anniversary
07:58of the Battle of Santa Inés announced from the Minas Flores Palace that La Casa Militar
08:03will become a militia center to create several militia brigades of this house of honor of
08:09Bolívar.
08:11I am turning the military house into a military house with several brigades of officers of
08:27the honor house of Bolívar with the highest training and popular articulation.
08:36With the neighborhoods, the catacombs of the people, the organized people.
08:45Are you in agreement?
08:49Raise your hands if you agree.
08:52Approve the military character of the house of military guard of honor founded by Bolívar
09:03who fought in Pichín, Chicarabobo, Bombona, Junín and a day like yesterday, he fought
09:10there in Ayacucho and he's fighting with the people today.
09:17Let's applaud all of the officers and soldiers of the military house of Venezuela, glorious
09:23and victorious.
09:27The president of Venezuela also assured that on January the 10th, the people will take
09:32to the streets to celebrate the victory of Venezuela.
09:59In Brazil, union members and protesters gathered in Brasilia to voice their opposition against
10:04an amnesty request for prisoners who took part in the 2022 coup plot to prevent President
10:11Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from taking office.
10:15The main purpose of today's demonstration is to oppose any possibility of amnesty for
10:20those responsible for the coup attempts and for what we can call the continuing coup that
10:25was the entire previous government.
10:30I and all the other citizens gathered here are against any possibility of amnesty for
10:34the coup plotters who tried to attack Brazilian democracy.
10:39With coups and assassinations against the authorities in power, we have always tried
10:43to make it very clear that this kind of anti-democratic attitude, this kind of anti-democratic planning
10:49has to be dealt with rigorously under the law.
11:06Thousands of people marched on Tuesday in the Macedonian capital Copete to demand immediate
11:12government actions or combat high levels of air pollution in the country.
11:19Wearing a gas mask and chanting slogans, the demonstrators took to the streets of the capital
11:24city after a report which considered among the 10 of the most polluted cities in Europe.
11:30The protesters' demands include reduction in imports of vehicles with lowered emissions
11:35standards, increasing inspections for the industrial facilities and delaying with landfills.
11:43In addition, several environmental groups organizing the protests accused the government
11:50of not allocating funds to fight pollution.
11:53It is almost 4,000 people in North Macedonia died each year due to respiratory problems
12:02caused by air pollution.
12:06I'm protesting because we don't have clean air.
12:08I protest my whole life for this because they systematically kill every one of us and because
12:13it's time for the government to do something for these people.
12:17We are demanding this state, after decades poisoning, to finally undertake measures,
12:22to see how serious this situation is, to start implementing some kind of policy for decreasing
12:27of the pollution.
12:29In my view, it must clean its own yard first.
12:33The state institutions that should protect us have to stop poisoning us.
12:38The state institutions that use oil and fuel oil have to transform the way of heating.
12:44In the United States, on Tuesday, a windfall fire quickly spread in Malibu in the state
12:49of California, threatening buildings and prompting evacuations.
12:53The Franklin Fire broke out on Monday evening and in just hours had rapidly burned through
13:00more than 730 hectares in the coastal city.
13:03Pepperdine University said it had cancelled classes and final exams for Tuesday as emergency
13:10personnel rushed to contain the blaze.

13:51Welcome back.
13:52Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Nairobi on Tuesday to denounce rising femicide
13:57cases in Kenya, facing a violent police crackdown that left many injured.
14:02Protesters chanted and stopped femicides, gathering to the highlight the alarming number
14:09of murders of women and girls in the country as police responded with tear gas, causing
14:13chaos in the streets.
14:15Precisely, Kenya is dealing with a long-standing silent epidemic of gender-based violence,
14:22with police data showing that 97 women were killed between August and November 2024.
14:29In addition, a recent UN report revealed that Africa has the world's highest rates
14:33of women-related femicides.
14:36On the other hand, last month, President William Ruto pledged $700,000 for a campaign to end
14:41femicides.
14:42However, activists say secret measures are still lacking.
14:45So far they are tear gassing us for saying end femicides, so I think they are speaking
14:51loud and clear.
14:54You cannot say you are part of the solution and only try to bring solutions to you, you
15:00try to sabotage us.
15:01There is no reason why you should send armed police against people with placards who are
15:07telling you as a government this is a problem that needs to be solved and you are throwing
15:12tear gas at them.
15:14To what end?
15:15So, the government is part of the problem according to me.
15:18It should not be happening.
15:21We need to be safe around our men.
15:24We need to be safe when we are going for a jog in the morning.
15:27I need to be safe when I come home.
15:32I just need to be okay.
15:33I just need to feel okay around the people that I love.
15:35I need to feel okay among the people that I interact with on a day-to-day basis."
15:41Spain's Mediterranean Sea fishermen demonstrated a rejection of labour codes imposed by the
15:47European Union.
15:48The National Federation of Fishermen's Guilds, together with the Shop Owners' Employers'
15:55Association, to basically launch protests on Monday near the permanent headquarters
16:01of the European Commission in Madrid.
16:03The fishing guild rejects the restrictions in our activity to reduce from 130 to 27 working
16:10days a year from 2025.
16:13The sector denounced that these measures might represent the disappearance of fishing in
16:18the Mediterranean Sea, economically destabilising the fishing community.
16:26In France, tertiary students and instructors are rallying on Tuesday against parliamentarians'
16:33intentions to pass a bill by 2025 to pursue economic reforms at the expense of the higher
16:40education system.
16:41Hundreds of these protesters gather nearby the Ministry of Higher Education to speak
16:47out against the anticipated budget cuts.
16:50Furthermore, demonstrators urge authorities to draw their attention on the urgent university
16:55needs.
16:56We've been on a steady decline for years.
17:03We've now reached a minimum.
17:04This is the first time in at least 50 years that we've reached this minimum state budget
17:08contribution to higher education.
17:10The budget is falling steadily, despite the fact that the student population and the number
17:15of students have been rising steadily for the past 15 years, and there are absolutely
17:19urgent needs in higher education in terms of positions, but also in terms of renovating
17:24buildings that are falling into disrepair at a rapid rate.
17:32We can already see the impact of budget cuts on intake capacity and the availability of
17:36bachelor's and master's programmes.
17:38The effects are evident in the deteriorating conditions of our universities.
17:42Many campuses are in disrepair, with no funds for renovation, lecture theatres are cold,
17:47resources are limited, and there's a growing lack of supervision to cut costs.
17:51These challenges are beginning to take a toll on students, the frustration is palpable,
17:56and the anger among students is clear.
17:58Therefore, they are demonstrating here today.
