00:00In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces continue for a second consecutive day their siege of
00:14Tulkarem town.
00:15Zionist soldiers killed eight people and caused widespread destruction.
00:23A commercial airliner carrying more than 60 passengers crashed in Kazakhstan, leaving
00:28at least 35 people dead.
00:34An Ecuadorian police discovered several shared bodies in a military zone of Guayaquil, near
00:39the site where four minors had been reported missing.
00:48Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:53To begin with the news, stay with us.
01:11In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces continue for a second consecutive day their siege of
01:16Tulkarem town in the West Bank, where Zionist soldiers killed eight people and caused widespread
01:23destruction.
01:24WAFA news agency reported that Israeli bulldozers are deliberately destroying all infrastructure,
01:30causing water and electricity cuts.
01:32During the day, Israeli forces prevented citizens from going about their daily activities, especially
01:38children and the sick.
01:40The Palestinian Health Ministry said two women and a teenager were killed in the action.
01:49At the same time, occupation forces besieged al-Amari camp south of Ramallah.
01:54The Red Crescent reported that three youths were wounded by Israeli soldiers on that day.
02:00In parallel, the Tel Aviv regime carried out a large-scale campaign of kidnappings, where
02:05the detainees were taken blindfolded.
02:12In this context, occupation army soldiers took a Palestinian prisoner out of an Israeli
02:17jail and used him as a human shield, while continuing their incursion into the town
02:22of al-Amari.
02:27Israeli forces have killed nearly 13,000 Palestinian students in the occupied territories since
02:33October 7, 2023.
02:35The Palestinian Ministry of Education registered more than 12,700 students killed and another
02:4320,702 wounded in the midst of the Israeli genocide against the Gaza Strip.
02:48In the occupied West Bank alone, the figure rose to 119 dead and 649 wounded.
02:55The organization also specified that between teachers and educational workers there are
03:00619 casualties.
03:01Authorities denounced that to date, at least 788,000 schoolchildren are missing school.
03:13During his traditional Christmas address held on Wednesday at St. Peter's Basilica, Pope
03:19Francis called for a ceasefire in Gaza before thousands of faithful attendees, underscoring
03:24the grave humanitarian situation in the area.
03:30I think of the Christian communities in Israel and Palestine, particularly in Gaza, where
03:37the humanitarian situation is extremely grave.
03:42May there be a ceasefire, may the hostages be released and aid be given to the people
03:49worn out by hunger and by war.
03:55In Palestine, on Christmas Eve, Christians gathered for a mass at the Church of Holy
04:00Family in the Gaza City.
04:02The place, where several displaced civilians have found shelter amid the ongoing genocide
04:07carried out by Israel in the region, is the only Latin Catholic church in the Strip and
04:13has suffered extensive damage during the Zionist aggression.
04:16The mass was limited to prayers inside the building, with worshippers expressing their
04:22hopes for an end to the Israeli attacks and wishing for a return to peace.
04:26The onslaught of the Tel Aviv offensive against Palestine since October 2023 has overshadowed
04:33the celebrations associated with the date, since over 1,000 Christian citizens have had
04:38to seek refugee away from their homes or been forced to flee the area altogether.
04:50The situation this past year was very difficult for us, and this year is also difficult because
04:55of the atmosphere of war, the martyrs, and the life that we live.
04:59We cannot express it.
05:01It's a tragedy, but we must celebrate the coming and birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
05:10We hope that next year, God willing, on this day, we will celebrate in our homes and celebrate
05:14in the city of Bethlehem, we used to travel every year and celebrate there and the atmosphere
05:18was beautiful.
05:19God willing, we will celebrate in Jerusalem and in Bethlehem and the war will end.
05:23This is the most important thing for us and the most important thing we ask for at the
05:26moment because the situation is very difficult and we're very unhappy.
05:32In West Bank's Bethlehem, people reflect on how the Israeli offensive has impacted their
05:38town, which looks bleak in comparison with previous years during Christmas time.
05:47We feel very bad because Bethlehem always was crowded with people from all over the
05:57world in this period of time, in Christmas.
06:01But look, you can see, it's no people.
06:07Just to feel that we are people, we want to feel with Jesus Christ.
06:13We want to celebrate something spiritual, that's all.
06:20But we have nothing to celebrate, music or anything else, nothing.
06:26Just pray for peace, that's all.
06:31This Christian world celebrates Christmas amidst traditions, gifts and parties.
06:36Thousands of citizens around the world celebrate Christmas with various processions and carols,
06:42even local traditions.
06:43The festivity combines faith and culture in a diversity of expressions.
06:48Countries like Turkey, Iraq, the Vatican, South Korea, Argentina, Chile, among others,
06:54gather families to commemorate the essence of the festivity.
07:01The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, shared a Christmas message on December 24th, where
07:06he highlighted the people's hard work in the face of the nation's difficult year.
07:15This difficult year has taught us that with hard work and solidarity we Bolivians can
07:20renew ourselves and move towards a better future.
07:22I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and recognize the effort of everyone
07:26to overcome this stage and move towards a prosperous Bolivia full of hope.
07:34The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum expressed through a Christmas message her
07:38wishes for peace, love and prosperity to the Mexican people currently living in the country
07:44as well as to those abroad.
07:50Today is a special day for all Mexicans.
07:53For Mexican families, I wish you to spend it as a family, that you can be together.
07:59Remember that material things are not important, that the most important thing is love for
08:04our fellow men and women, love for the family, for children, for mothers, for the elderly.
08:11We wish you have a great time on this day, especially, of course, to all Mexicans who
08:16are in our territory, in the 32 states of the Republic, but also to all Mexicans who
08:21are outside our territory at this time, particularly to all Mexicans who are in the United States,
08:27I wish you all the best.
08:29We thank you for everything you do for your families and for Mexico, with much affection.
08:35Have a Merry Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas.
08:41And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at
08:45TeleCity English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and more.

11:23crash in Aktau during the opening of a CIS summit in St. Petersburg.

15:36the site where the four minors went missing in Guayaquil.
15:40So far, authorities have not confirmed the number of bodies found, nor their identity.
15:46Notwithstanding, they detailed that the corpses showed signs of violence.
15:51Subsequently, the national police have been investigating thoroughly to determine if these
15:56corpses are related with the children's forced disappearances.
16:04In this context, a constitutional court judge accepts a Javier's Corpus appeal and declares
16:09the existence of forced disappearances in the case of the four children detailed by
16:14the military in Guayaquil.
16:16The judge, Tania Lur, issued measures of integral reparation, requesting that the state continue
16:22the investigation to discover the whereabouts of the children.
16:26For her part, Lur ordered the Ministry of Health to provide psychological support to
