00:06He writes, uh, the Miami heat's decision not to offer a max contract
00:10extension to Jimmy Butler.
00:11This pass off season is at the center of a, of their seemingly fractured
00:15relationship, but both parties have also since developed an extensive
00:19list of grievances against each other.
00:23Sources close to Butler insists that one of his biggest issues with the
00:27has become his role in the offense.
00:29This season Butler vocalized that frustration after the last game he
00:33played before the heat suspended him for multiple instances of conduct
00:40detrimental to the team over the course of the season.
00:43I remember when he was like, I felt like I did my job after he scored just nine
00:46points and, uh, he said it can be my role here.
00:51That's not what I'm used to.
00:53I haven't been that since my first, second, third year in the league, where
00:55I just went out there and played defense.
00:57I competed, I guard, I try not to let my man score.
00:59And that's what I'm doing right now.
01:01Uh, you know, the heat coach Eric Spolstra said, uh, spoke after that
01:05game about using Butler as a point guard to make sure he has the
01:09ball in his hands more often.
01:11Um, but Butler made it sound like they were strangers dismissing
01:15Spolstra solution of playing point guard quote, that ain't going to fix it.
01:19It's unbelievable.
01:21I mean, so basically he's using me an excuse or a reason to be upset that
01:30doesn't exist in an efforts to try to make him feel better, he concludes
01:37that that ain't going to help.
01:39So you just want to feel the way you want to feel.

01:43Which is, which is why this whole situation becomes frustrating
01:47because it all gets, gets back to the simple fact that he didn't extend him.
01:54And so now he's the way he's acting out.
02:00Um, Anthony writes Butler set to meet with team officials, uh, including a
02:04potential meeting with heat owner, Mickey Harrison on Thursday, this all
02:08means Butler could find himself working in a heat offense that he has grown
02:12frustrated with after the system was tweaked for a team to take fewer long
02:16mid range shots and more three pointers to produce a more efficient shot chart.
02:21The change is working.
02:22The heated posted the NBA's 21st ranked location, effective field goal
02:27percentage, making up stats.
02:29I don't know.
02:30And is that a season after finishing out of 30?
02:33How's that good after finish?
02:35Well, they finished last season last.

02:54The last few years that a mid range jumper is not worth the same value as

03:10would say to Jimmy, I get that's your game, your mid range jumper and stuff like that.

03:37I haven't looked at the stats, but I'm pretty sure Jimmy Butler's most threes
03:41that he took was last year in his, in his heat career and his numbers at the
03:45rim last year, which, uh, were a bit of an indicator of, is there being a fall
03:50off, like his numbers, the rim last year, awful, like compared to his previous
03:54seasons, he, he did not, he did not have a very efficient season around the rim.
03:59He shot me maybe, maybe after back-to-back long playoff runs, he
04:03was, he was a little worn out.
04:04I don't know, but he had, uh, he didn't have a good season at the rim last
04:08year, on top of the fact that he shot more threes than he ever did this year.
04:12He's thrown the three, like in the garbage, like, and that's why it
04:15made the one-legged three.
04:16So hilarious.
04:17It's like, you haven't been shooting threes, but now you're Dirk.

04:23So like all the things that Jimmy feels could be 100% true.

04:32But how he's going about it doesn't give him much of an argument because his
04:40solution to fixing all that doesn't mean you don't play that's not, and
04:51especially, especially pout and play, you know, like this is what, uh, and
04:56they also write, it says after inquiring about Butler's apparent diminished
04:59role in the heat's offense, Butler's camp says it was told by the heat.
05:03That some changes were made because of his inconsistent regular season
05:06availability, uh, and it made it challenging to build the offense around
05:10him while I miss 22 regular season games last season and 18 in 22, 23.
05:16Uh, some with the heat would say that Butler has made his role in the
05:20offense look smaller than it actually is by making it a point in some games
05:24to run to the corner and play without the ball in his hands.
05:27The fact is that Butler, uh, turned in one of his best regular season
05:30performances of his career just last month, 35 points, 19 rebounds,
05:3410 assists, four steals, and a triple double in the heats, December 16th
05:38loss to the Detroit Pistons, which is again, to me is like the line of
05:42demarcation and all of this, which I have found super strange.
05:46And I'm still looking, cause that was the game before the OKC
05:49game where he turned his ankle.
05:51So like all of a sudden the role was then in it that now the role's an issue.
05:56I went, I went away for, I just had my, one of my best regular season games ever,
06:01but now the role's an issue.
06:02And by the way, when they're changing the role and building things, like
06:08first of all, they're trying to figure out how to, they were trying to figure
06:11out at a camp to try and play with Terry Rozier and Tyler here, which everybody
06:14all already said, eh, it's kind of a weird fit.
06:17I don't know if that's going to work out, which they ended up going away
06:19from because Terry Rozier has been horrendous this year.
06:24Um, I just think that, you know, from, if that was a
06:29case, like they're going, they would have figured out a way to work with
06:33Jimmy and make, when Jimmy's there, it's not going to be an issue to get Jimmy
06:37the ball, like, right.
06:40Like he made it sound like they were purposely not getting him the ball and
06:46wanting him to stand on the corner.
06:47Like they would rather play four on five.
06:49Do we've all watched every Jimmy Butler game for the last six seasons, right?

06:53How many times have we seen games where Jimmy Butler has been like, just kind
06:58of prowling, doesn't have anything going and then bang third quarter.
