00:00For a person coming from South Italy, where it's a very easygoing country, I feel very welcoming and I don't know, as I mentioned, I feel home. I feel home. I love Malaysia. I love Malaysia.
00:19At Emilio Cibo e Vino, you can discover a whole new side to Italian cuisine.
00:25This cozy restaurant at Glou Damansara specializes in dishes from Sicily, a sun-kissed southern Italian island.
00:34The restaurant is run by chef Emilio Brozo, an experienced chef who worked in England, Spain, Australia and South Korea before settling down in Malaysia.
00:45He hopes to introduce Malaysians to the wonders of Sicilian cuisine.
00:50I try to figure out what to do, then it can be good.
00:54I come from a very simple family, where if you know how to cook even simple vegetables, you can make a very good dish.
01:04And this is the idea behind my restaurant. Simple, home food, reasonable prices, with a home feeling.
01:16The rustic decor of Emilio's restaurant pays tribute to the island he comes from.
01:20Sicily is a beautiful land. In Europe, we call it a land kissed by gods.
01:27When here, try the zuppa di cozze e vongole, a briny stew of Australian mussels and clams in a light sauce seasoned with garlic, chili and parsley.
01:38One highlight here is the arancini, a crispy and flavorful Sicilian street food of rice balls infused with cuttlefish, black ink and zucchini.
01:48Don't miss the restaurant's signature dish, caponata, a symphony of sliced eggplant, zucchini, capsicum and other vegetables, all bathed in a lovely tomato sauce.
02:01Caponata, which is a typical Sicilian side dish, every single family and every single time has their own version.
02:10This one, 90% is my grandma's recipe. I changed a little bit, as I mentioned before, to adapt slightly to Asian taste.
02:21Hopefully we all get to visit beautiful Sicily someday.
02:26In the meantime, pop by Emilio Cibo e Vino and treat your taste buds to the island's magnificent cuisine.
