00:37severe cold wave that hit the southeastern regions.
00:45Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisa Studios in Havana,
00:49Cuba.
00:50We begin with the news.
01:08In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces broke the ceasefire agreement and opened fire on
01:13a number of displaced people preparing to return to the north of the Gaza Strip.
01:17Witnesses say the Israeli army opened fire at the last exit point on Salah al-Din and
01:23al-Rashid streets, which connects the south and the north of the Gaza Strip.
01:28Hamas confirmed that the occupation has been delaying the implementation of the terms of
01:32the agreement and the exchange of prisoners by preventing the return of the displaced.
01:37The Palestinian Resistance Movement also warned that recent Israeli actions threaten to resume
01:42large-scale aggressions in the occupied Palestinian territory.
01:49And in Palestine, Israeli forces maintain blockades to prevent the return of displaced
01:54people to their homes in the northern regions of the Gaza Strip.
01:58Thousands of displaced Palestinians, many of them families with small children, are waiting
02:03for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the so-called Net Zarin corridor
02:08to return to their homes in Gaza City and the north of the coastal enclave.
02:12Witnesses denounce the continued presence of Israeli troops in the area as a violation
02:17of the terms of a ceasefire agreement, which came into force on Sunday, January 19.
02:22According to data published by the authorities, some 1.6 million displaced people are currently
02:28sheltering in overcrowded camps and tents, struggling to survive in the midst of the
02:33current humanitarian crisis.
02:40The United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East denounced Israeli orders
02:44to vacate the UN facilities in Jerusalem and cease its operations in the territory before
02:50January 30.
02:51The agency detailed that this measure contradicts the obligations contemplated in international
02:56law since Israel belongs to the UN and must respect its provisions, including the creation
03:01and ban that is given to UNHWA.
03:03It also affirmed that the property of the UN cannot be subject to deconfiscation by
03:08any state and that the personnel working for the institution must be respected.
03:13In this sense, UNHWA warned that the Israeli authority puts at risk the buildings and the
03:17UN staff working to guarantee the protection of Palestinian refugees.
03:28Meanwhile in Lebanon, Israeli forces killed at least three civilians and injured 31 others
03:33as people sought to return to their homes in the south of the country.
03:36The Lebanese Public Health Ministry reported that the victims were from Hula, Leda and
03:41Aytaroun, areas still occupied by the Sarni's army.
03:45The 60-day deadline set by the agreement for Israel to complete its withdrawal from Lebanese
03:50territory expired on Sunday.
03:52However, the extremist government of Benjamin Netanyahu said it would not pull out in time
03:57its forces, which have remained in Lebanon since the invasion launched on October 1st,
04:042024.
04:06U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the lifting of the veto on the supply of aerial bombs
04:12to Israel approved by the administration of former President Joe Biden.
04:16According to media, the Trump administration ordered the Pentagon to suspend the decree
04:20that prohibits the supply of 2,000-pound bombs to the Zionist regime.
04:25Likewise, sources clarified that in the next few days, at least 1,800 Mk-84-class aerial
04:31bombs that are in warehouses in the country will be loaded on ships and delivered to Israel.
04:37On their side, the Israeli forces repeated to the borders of the Gaza Strip, although
04:42they remained within its limits after reaching a ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian
04:46movement Hamas on January 15th.
04:52The Syrian civil defense reported that six civilians were injured by the explosion of
04:56mines and bombs left over from the war in rural areas of the northern province of Idlib.
05:02Four youths were injured when a mine exploded while they were removing debris from their
05:06home in southern Idlib.
05:08Likewise, the two minors were injured in two separate explosions of a grenade and a closer
05:13bomb, respectively, in the municipality of Areha.
05:17Civil defense reported that more than 30 people were killed and over 40 injured between late
05:212024 and early 2025 in explosions of the objects left over from the armed conflict
05:27that erupted in 2011.
05:29The current scenario makes it difficult for displaced people to return to their homes
05:33and for agricultural land to be developed.

05:59Exit polls show Belarusian candidate and current president Alexander Lukashenko as the winner
06:03with 87.6% of the vote.
06:05After the closing of polling stations and five days of early elections, the electoral
06:09authorities announced a turnout of more than 81% of the electoral roll.
06:14The elections have been counted with the presence of some 486 international observers
06:20from 48 countries, in addition to 800 journalists, national and foreign, covering the day, which
06:26ran smoothly.
06:32Also on Sunday amid the presidential elections in Belarus, incumbent President Alexander
06:36Lukashenko expressed his interest in maintaining cooperative relations with Venezuela and other
06:41Latin American countries.
06:43While thousands of citizens went to the polls this January 26th to vote for the next president
06:47of Belarus, speaking at a press conference after having cast his ballot, Belarusian President
06:53Alexander Lukashenko, in answering a question from our special envoy Oleg Yatsensky, said
06:58that Belarus seeks to diversify its economy and develop relations with Latin American
07:03nations.
07:04Lukashenko highlighted the importance of the relationship with Venezuela and recalled it
07:08is a legacy of the government of Commander Hugo Chavez.
07:13Our relationship with Venezuela was forged under Hugo Chavez's presidency.
07:20I've mentioned this before, that we built a tractor plant, an automobile factory, a
07:25brick factory, because all of that was needed for what followed which was building entire
07:29cities, towns and more.
07:31That was Hugo Chavez's request through then Foreign Affairs Minister, Nicolas Maduro.
07:36So, we are interested in continuing that relationship with Venezuela.
07:39Recently, a delegation from our government toured the Caribbean, including Venezuela,
07:45Nicaragua and Cuba.
07:46We have common ground with these countries and we will continue to develop what we have
07:50already started.
07:51Belarusian President Lukashenko told reporters that he looks forward to a cooperative relationship
07:59with the United States because of its influence in the world.
08:06We do not expect any gifts from the U.S., but we want to cooperate with them.
08:10We understand that it is still a leading country in the world, which seriously influences the
08:14economy of Belarus, our union with Russia, the economy of China, that it influences all
08:20countries.
08:21Why should we quarrel?
08:24On Sunday, Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico said Ukraine's joining the North Atlantic
08:28Treaty Organization and the European Union is unlikely.
08:32The Slovakian Premier criticized the leadership of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,
08:37suggesting that Kiev's opposition to a ceasefire with Russia has prolonged the conflict.
08:42Fico lamented that Ukraine sees its NATO membership as the best guarantee for reaching a ceasefire
08:47agreement with Russia rather than engaging in dialogue.
08:50Russia has repeatedly expressed its readiness to engage in peace talks and has stressed
08:55the importance of having a neutral and demilitarized Ukraine for security in the region.
09:03Italian railroad workers went on a general strike this Sunday to demand better salaries
09:10and other labor rights.
09:11The strike also denounced an increase in the workload and reductions in salary, rest and
09:16free time.
09:17In this context, the trade unions claimed that for decades jobs have been downsized
09:22and production and service facilities closed.
09:25Among the personnel involved in this measure are maintenance workers, train drivers, conductors
09:30and staff of the state railway group's operation rooms.
09:38In France, a poll showed that President Emmanuel Macron lost popularity among French citizens.
09:43Discontent with the president's work grew since the mass protests of the Yellow Vest
09:47movement against the fuel tax hike.
09:50Polls showed that 79 percent of those interviewed reject President Emmanuel Macron's administration.
09:55This is two years before the end of his term.
09:58France faces a political crisis marked by instability due to the handling of anti-government
10:03protests, migratory measures, division in parliament, among others.
10:11In Australia, two historic statues have been damaged in Melbourne ahead of Australia Day
10:16celebrations on Sunday, with tens of thousands of people across the country joining protests
10:20in support of indigenous groups who say the date should be relabeled as Invasion Day,
10:26The statue of colonist John Batman, one of the founders of the country's second-largest
10:30city, but also involved in the killing of indigenous people, was sewn in half, whereas
10:36other monuments, this time commemorating Australian soldiers in the First World War, was dubbed
10:40in red paint and the world's Land Back.
10:44Australia's National Day is observed on January 26th as a date of mourning for many
10:48indigenous Australians, for it marks the day Captain James Cook landed in Sydney Cove,
10:54those during the country's colonisation by the British.
11:24You just can't stop resisting, that's not a choice, because if you do that you're complicit.
11:54Welcome back.
12:12On Sunday, U.S. authorities reported at least 11 people killed as a result of a severe cold
12:17wave that hit the southeastern region of the country.
12:21The deaths were recorded in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Texas and South Carolina,
12:25most of them due to hypothermia and car accidents following landslides on the highways.
12:31In New Orleans, Louisiana and parts of the state of Florida, the cold storm brought the
12:36heaviest snowfall recorded in the last 130 years.
12:41In this sense, we offer this issue an extreme cold warning from the state of Mississippi
12:46to the Florida panhandle.
12:52Mexico prepares a shelter in Tijuana to receive Mexicans deported from the United States due
12:57to Donald Trump's new policies.
13:00Authorities from the three levels of government visited the shelter facility in the city and
13:05so brought forward an emergency meeting on the escalation of the conflict.
13:14Look at how everyone is in disarray this morning.
13:17We're suffering a lot.
13:19People are fleeing everywhere, and we don't know where to go anymore, because we started
13:23fleeing a long time ago.
13:27I fled from Kiwanja, Ruchiru, Kibomba.
13:30I've never stopped fleeing.
13:33And even today, the war catches us here among the host families, now we have nowhere to
13:38go.
13:39Now, if the situation deteriorates any further, I'm not going to flee again.
13:44I'm tired of fleeing, and I have nowhere else to go.
13:47We abandoned our villages to come here to Goma.
13:50And even here, people started to flee.
13:52Where are we going to take refuge now?
13:54All the roads are closed.
13:55We thought we could even cross the lake, but there too it's not safe.
13:59We have nowhere to go.
