00:00Don't want to say he's a perfect superstar, but he's a humble superstar. He's a leader
00:05There's a story in the ringer about him. He was having problems sleeping last year Gator with work stress
00:11There's a story in the ringer about how he would get in the middle of this losing streak
00:18He couldn't get to sleep after games his brother said everything he did in his career
00:23He got some sort of positive feedback and there was no positive feedback and Cade would get home after these games
00:30In the middle of a 28-game losing streak and he'd lay in bed worrying about it thinking about it
00:35And then he'd do the worst thing he could possibly do he would open up his phone
00:39Go on Twitter and read what people were saying about the piston. Yeah
00:44Don't do that
00:47Don't
00:49Stay off Twitter
00:50And then guess what he couldn't get to sleep and the story goes on to say next thing
00:55You know
00:55It's 6 in the morning and they got a morning practice coming up and he hasn't slept all night because he can't stop
01:01Worrying about and and dealing he's troubled troublesome dealing with the with the losses and then there's you know that the fact that
01:10He's he's got an ability to connect with all his teammates. I mean, he's a high-volume shooter and nobody has a problem with it
01:19He's
01:20You know, I I just I will say this it's the infancy stages of what could be like the perfect superstar for Detroit
01:27and you always have to worry, you know, and I
01:30caution and I'm is I'm not gonna say he's gonna be the perfect superstar because as
01:35time goes on and you start to get praise and you're climbing that ladder, but people start to recognize you and Pat you on the
01:42back and
01:43You get that max contract it can change people
01:47I've talked to insiders and said I can't believe how much so-and-so changed when they got the money
01:53It completely changed them. And so, you know, these are big challenges moving forward
01:58But right now Kate is is like exactly what you look for in a team leader and a superstar. I
02:07Love having them here. I think you being a piston fan
02:11You can sit back and watch
02:12how a player grows and that's a lot of fun to see because when there is actual growth and that
02:18Stagnant or you realize the player is no not as good as you you were hoping it was gonna be
02:23This guy is absolutely living up to the billing of being the number one pick in the draft
02:28he's grown each and every year and this year it's like
02:32More than blossomed. It's it's going from star to superstar right before our very eyes
02:38He threatens to have a triple-double any night of the week last night was no different
02:42He was just a couple rebounds shy of it
02:45He takes over games now and he's starting to get calls. Yeah, he's starting to get to the free-throw line
02:53Which is that's that's fun. So a little bit more fun being on the side of that in it. He's also
02:59He's feeling a little bit this year to dude. He's doing things that we haven't seen him do before
03:03He's he wants to dunk now. He wants to posterize people
03:08He wants all the smoke and it's great
03:10It's great to see because he's got it
03:12It feels like there's a little bit of a swagger this year where maybe there hasn't been in the past
03:16Maybe it's because he wasn't sleeping, but he's he's got it now and this team is they're 12 and 3 in their last 15
03:24They just keep winning
03:25they're keeping pace with everybody else and they're slowly slowly slowly crept up on everybody and now we've got I
03:32Mean by a percentage point. It's not a three-way tie, but effectively it's a three-way tie for fourth place
03:38Because the Pistons have have been that good. And by the way, if you want to play the get physical with him game, please do
03:46We counter with Jalen Duran Isaiah Stewart and last night was one of those games
03:51There was nothing funnier than watching Jordan pool point his finger at Jalen Duran as he walked quickly backwards
03:59away from Jalen Duran, right I
04:01mean that thing got physical that were there was pushing and shoving and
04:05Between Jalen Duran and Isaiah Stewart
04:08Nobody steps. You're crazy to step to this group Jalen Duran
04:12He kind of walked around like I think it may have been a sar Thompson tried to grab him and pull him back
04:16And he pushed his sar back is this to say listen young fella. I got this and then he walks around the pile
04:23Yeah to confront
04:25pool and and and like points at him as pools walking, you know backing off because
04:30He knew he was biting off way more than he could chew
04:33Jalen Duran is an imposing figure as as is Isaiah Stewart. It's fun to have these guys on this team
04:40Regulating two four eight five three nine. Ninety seven. Ninety seven. Let's go to Zack. You're on 90 someone a ticket. Hi Zack
04:47Hey, how you guys doing?
04:49Hey, I just want to talk about Kane Pistons real quick
04:53Um, I have a friend who kind of doubted what Kate could be at least when I saw visually what he was at
05:00Oklahoma State and
05:02Early on I was really hoping that the Pistons had a chance to draft them because those few years around that time
05:08We have gotten you know
05:10kind of robbed at least in our eyes of where our draft position has been and you know who we have been able to draft and
05:16he luckily fell into our hands and
05:19You know it before then it was by honors really thinking we hope that we could get Zion and that didn't happen
05:24And then we got Kate and Kate has really kind of embraced
05:28Like he added attitude Oklahoma State
05:30But he kind of has embraced the leader attitude and what it means to be a leader in Detroit
05:37You're not saying he is anything like Isaiah Thomas
05:42But the way he leads the guys and leads the team as far as attitude
05:47It you know, not really taking anything, you know, not really settling for you know
05:53Mediocrity you can see he really wants it and he really wants to you know work it
05:59he really wants to get this team to where it needs to be and where we all vision it as far as the talent that
06:04We've had and we've been able to kind of acquire especially now with Duran and Austin
06:09And you know everybody
06:12At least you know where we vision and where we see as fans
06:16I
06:17See Kate is finally able, you know
06:20It's as at least to the public eye has shown to the public eye what you know
06:25A great superstar should be as a young leader and for a young team that hasn't really had much success
06:32You know like you we can have
06:35In Kate's world. It's not all about Kate like Kate is that superstar where it's not all about Kate and it's
06:42It's it's great to see and I'm so encouraged and again
06:46There are challenges moving forward to maintain this level of of humility and and being team oriented
06:52But it's not all about Kate. He doesn't come across in any way that it's all about Kate
06:57Exactly. There's no arrogance there at all where he cares about, you know
07:01Anything to do with his numbers at all is for him
07:04You can really see that you know, like we can see because we were you know part work here
07:10It's not really national TV, so
07:12National TV doesn't get to see but we get to see that. He really is just focused on the game the game itself
07:20We're not really worried about the outside, you know, like right now. He's not really worried about you know, how great he's is
07:28I'm gonna read you a quote and this is a quote for you and it's for the entire audience and it's come from the story
07:33On the ringer. This is about Cade and the Pistons and their chemistry
07:37It starts with Cunningham
07:39He's taken the wisdom he's gained from his own struggles to become an even better leader
07:43His teammates say he has unique ability to connect with anyone managing different personalities making sure each person knows how how they are valued
07:51That they are seen that their role matters
07:55J.B. Bickerstaff says if you look around him his teammates get better and that's extremely unique that a superstar or young superstar in particular
08:02Who's coming into his own has the ability to not just do his own thing
08:04But then to impact those around him and make those around him better and that's why to me Cade is an all-star
08:09It's not just the numbers he puts up
08:11It's the impact that he has on his teammates and the people that he brings along with him. I
08:16Think he's absolutely the unquestioned leader of this team
08:18Obviously, he's got a ways to go before you get it to I say a Thomas territory or Chauncey Billups territory
08:23But he's got that leadership ability in him and he's starting to lead which is which is great
08:30It's the next step in the process for him becoming that superstar player
08:33Two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven
08:36enough can't be said to about guys that want to be here from the very beginning Kate Cunningham wanted to be a piston when it
08:42Was very and still is unpopular
08:44Right to come to Detroit a place that hasn't won in a long time
08:48And I know part of it is hey, I want to be the number one pick
08:51But also so many guys they say they try to determine where they go now because whether it's the number one pick or not
08:56They want to choose
08:58Where they want to build their brand and things like that
09:00Kate from the very beginning wanted to be a piston want to be normal number one overall pick and knew what he was getting himself
09:05Into which was a rebuild and it was probably a lot rougher than he had imagined
09:1014 games and then winning 14 games only in an entire NBA season not not heard of
09:16But guess what? It's paying off because he's that guy. He is that guy. So pistons are lucky to have him
09:22We're lucky to have him and I think he's the perfect kind of star for this town. All right, piss it
