00:00How about this? Dude, put your chef's hat on.
00:03Chef!
00:04Put it on.
00:05Okay.
00:05Time for you to cook.
00:06Oh.
00:07You ready?
00:08Yeah.
00:08Hold on now.
00:09Wow.
00:09Just hold on.
00:11I want everybody to get your itchy drinker fingers ready.
00:15888-957-957.
00:17And T.J. Houshmanzadeh in 10 minutes.
00:20I'm going to play something for you, and then the Dibbers is going to cook.
00:24Okay?
00:26This is from Ryan Clark on ESPN.
00:30I would absolutely trade Christian McCaffrey.
00:32And I would try to get as much as I could possibly get for him.
00:35When you look at what Kyle Shanahan has been able to do, it's run the football.
00:40And I know we thought last year they missed some of the things with the versatility
00:44of Christian McCaffrey.
00:45But when you trade, you check.
00:47You let some of that versatility go.
00:49You let some of the things you can do formationally go.
00:52And so why not change your entire philosophy from thinking about Christian McCaffrey
00:56as this Swiss army knife, getting pieces for him and allowing guys like Ricky Pirosal
01:02to touch the football more with running the football and doing different things on quick
01:06screens, adding other players based on the assets that you could get for him.
01:10Also understanding you're looking for more available players than Christian McCaffrey
01:15was last year.
01:16You had a good stretch with him.
01:18You took your run at the Super Bowl.
01:20You didn't get it.
01:21If you're going to rebuild, rebuild completely.
01:23I'm snapping it up for Ryan Clark because he's absolutely right.
01:28When you talk about where they are as a team and you are, I don't think that you're rebuilding,
01:35but you're definitely reloading and you're reserving the right to pay money where you
01:40want to pay it.
01:40And Christian McCaffrey has a big bonus due on April 1st and you already got rid of Debo
01:45and you've gotten rid of, not gotten rid of, but Drake Greenlaw, you didn't sign.
01:50You didn't sign banks.
01:51You didn't sign more.
01:52You didn't sign who Fonga, you didn't side char various ward.
01:56So you're in a, in a period where I do think that you're saving money everywhere you can.
02:00And I think about Shanahan, not only Kyle, but Mike as well.
02:04And what have they done throughout their careers, plural, they've been able to run the ball
02:09with a variety of different running backs.
02:11And I'm looking at the mud, the Shanahan era and the leading rusher by year and it's
02:18Hyde, Brita, Mostert, Wilson, Mitchell, McCaffrey, McCaffrey, Mason.
02:23Now McCaffrey is better than any of them.
02:25And I do think that he is probably eventually going to be a hall of famer.
02:29I don't know if he's a slam dunk yet, but his resume in a small sample is great.
02:34He's been often injured.
02:36He makes a ton of money.
02:37And I think about what Ryan is saying about your shift and you know, you're not going
02:43to run the same personnel grouping that you used to run with two running backs and one
02:48tight end.
02:48You're probably going to shift it.
02:49You're going to pay your quarterback a lot of money to go out there and be the dude and
02:54be the man.
02:55You've got Isaac Arendo who looked pretty good in a small sample.
03:00JP Mason has a second round tender, which means unless somebody wants to give you a
03:04second rounder, they're not going to sign him.
03:06And I don't think that anyone's going to give you a second rounder for Mason.
03:09So I do think that Mason will come back.
03:11And if you have Mason and Garendo and Patrick Taylor and a rookie that you either draft
03:18or who is undrafted, I do think that you can replace a guy who now has, and I'm not going
03:24to say that he's injury prone because you're right, Mark, everyone in the NFL is injury
03:28prone, but he has had a lot of injuries and now he's got two Achilles that have tendonitis
03:34and you're going to pay him top dollar.
03:36I don't see it.
03:37If you can get something for him, you trade Christian McCaffrey, you trade him now, you
03:43avoid the bonus, you save the money and you go forward with your $50 million quarterback
03:48and you go out there and you do things a little bit differently.
03:50Trade Christian McCaffrey.
03:55Trade him.
04:00You trade him.
04:02You made some good points.
04:03Yeah, I mean, you made some good points.
04:04The majority of people will not agree with me, but of course they won't.
04:07I see the finances and I see the Shanahan history of what they've done with Lesser and
04:12I see the whole idea of Bill Walsh, like you do it now as opposed to in a year where it's
04:18like, oh boy.
04:18You made some good points.
04:19Now allow me to counterpoint because do not trade Christian McCaffrey.
04:25Number one, the non-fund reason.
04:29I don't think you're going to get a lot for him.
04:31I don't know what you can really get and that doesn't feel good.
04:34You want a sixth round draft pick?
04:38You want what you got for Debo?
04:40He's coming off of major injury and he's the second highest paid running back in the game.
04:45Who the hell's asking for that?
04:49I don't know what kind of price he would command on the open market.
04:53So that's number one.
04:54I think a trade would feel very empty as far as the 49ers are concerned and it's a freshly
05:00restructured deal, which means your savings are a little bit muted.
05:05And I don't know about you.
05:07I'm kind of done with the whole like, cool, you're saving money.
05:10Like you've done enough.
05:11You've done enough.
05:13You've cleared the books.
05:15Okay.
05:15But here's the more fun reason.
05:17I don't know why we are so far down the road of Christian is damaged goods.
05:25I don't think he's damaged goods at all.
05:27And no matter what the Shanahan's have done in the past, this dude is a special running back.
05:34I don't care that they've quote, gotten production from Olandis Gary, right?
05:39They didn't get this kind of production.
05:42The dude was the best offensive player in the league a year ago, and he's not 30 yet.
05:48And I don't really have any reason.
05:49I'm not a doctor to think that Christian McCaffrey can't come back from major injury as he has
05:56before multiple times.
05:58So I am not trading Christian McCaffrey.
06:02And here's the third reason.
06:03And maybe the biggest one.
06:05I don't like that.
06:06Ryan Clark used the word rebuild.
06:08If you're going to rebuild, rebuild totally.
06:10Guess what, Ryan?
06:11They're not rebuilding.
06:13They're not.
06:15They're clearing the books.
06:18They're rebooting.
06:20They're reevaluating.
06:23You know what that is?
06:24Yeah.
06:24Yeah, I do.
06:26Okay.
06:26You can take this one.
06:27All right.
06:28It's reevaluation sensation.
06:29They are not.
06:30I'm running low on cash.
06:33They're not rebuilding.
06:36You can't, in my opinion, rebuild when Kittle's your tight end and Warner's your linebacker
06:41and Bosa is your edge rusher and Trent Williams is your left tackle.
06:46And quite frankly, McCaffrey is your running back.
06:48And you're about to go 50 million or north for your quarterback.
06:52Like that's not a rebuild.
06:54I don't take the last 48 hours to mean the Niners can't compete this year.
06:58Don't take it that way at all.
07:00And I love what Albert Breer said recently when he said, if you look at the model the
07:06Niners are using, it's exactly what the Bills did last year and came within a play of the
07:10Super Bowl.
07:11And it's exactly what the Rams did the year before that and followed that up with two
07:1610 win seasons, including a division championship.
07:19Nothing here so far.
07:22I'm not saying I don't have concerns.
07:24I don't know who's playing D-line this year, but nothing that has happened this week tells
07:28me that the Niners can't compete next year.
07:31Nothing.
07:32Well, for me, other than the fact that you have no real wide receiver one, you've got
07:39Jawan and the Rams wide receiver four and Ricky Pearsall, who we hope is pretty good
07:45and you lost your fullback.
07:48For me, you have a lot of question marks.
07:50I don't think that you're as good now as you were a month ago, but yeah, you can keep
07:55McCaffrey and you can cross your fingers that he's going to be healthy and good after all
08:00the injuries he's had.
08:01It's possible.
