Self-Defense Workout: Hammer Fists - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. Another great strike for self-defense is the Hammer Fist. The Hammer Fist is excellent because you do not have as much of a risk of hurting your hand, as you do if you punch someone with a, with a regular punch. A Hammer Fist, much like the name suggests, is done just like you are hitting a hammer, so it is done with this part of your hand. You are striking, downward with your clenched fist, but hitting with the bottom part of your hand. So if Nicole would demonstrate on the pad here. First her hands are up in a fighting stance. She is gonna come down, with her Hammer Fists. One. And, two. Good. Beautiful. If you strike someone, to the bridge of their nose with a hammer fist, it can break that nose instantly, cause blood to gush, and they are not gonna be able to see, and not gonna be able to fight, obviously, so it is terrific for self-defense. But it is also great for fitness because, you know, as you extend here, you are using your arms, your forearms, your triceps, and in the recall, you are using that bicep, and coming back again. So if you are, if you are doing a left, and right, like this... Good. It can be a lot more fun than just doing bicep curls or forearm curls at the gym. You throw a couple of dumbbells in your hands, excellent for resistance, for building muscle, and really for self-defense. It is an excellent strike whether standing, or on the ground, can be very effective, and again, does not take a lot of training to learn a Hammer Fist. So, if you can show us one more time, Nicole, can you demonstrate into the camera? Hands up. And, Hammer Fist one. And, two. Very nice. And back to the position. So, great strike for self-defense, great for fitness. The Hammer Fist.
