London Olympics - How One Company Plans to Keep Working 24x7 - as part of the news and politics series by GeoBeats.

Organizing the Olympic Games is a monumental challenge for any city. As London prepares to host them, local businesses will have their own logistical disruptions due to traffic and transportation related changes.

This affects mission-critical businesses in particular who have to provide services 24*7. According to a report in Wired, one such technology services company, Interxion, has come up with a creative way to work around the potential disruptions during the Olympic Games.

They have partnered with Podtime to acquire a number of PODS so the employees will be able to rest in the offices and avoid the risk of getting stuck in traffic.

These PODS have a forward thinking design and according to Podtime, the central tube is made of polycarbonate and the end pieces are heavy duty molded plastic.

They come with a storage area, power points, mirror and LED lights. Each POD costs 1375 british pounds or about $2250+taxes.

For those looking to go beyond the basics, there are additional options like a TV and DVD player and a leather covered mattress.

We are already seeing such PODS being used at the airports and hotels. It seems like we will continue to discover new creative applications for them.
