00:00So, in celebration of Taste the Place by the City of Commerce, a campaign needs to celebrate
00:05Glasgow's independent cuisine for its 850th anniversary. You're asking the people of Glasgow
00:13where they like to eat. I'm a big fan of Ting-Tai Caravan on Barres Road. Super, super delicious.
00:21Stuff's just like so, so nice. And you get like tons of like tiny plates, like really good value
00:25for money. And Sugo is always a classic. Super nice. There's a couple that I find to be quite
00:30interesting that I do go to occasionally. One called Biahala, which is near Buchanan Street.
00:38They do quite pub food, but it's pretty good. It's a nice place to go hang out with your mates, you know.
00:42Probably Demagio's. Well, it was Regano's, but that's sadly shut. I like Wagamama.
00:52I like Nandos, but we haven't got Nandos here in Glasgow. Yeah, they do. We do, well, a lot, everywhere.
00:59What do you think is so good about Glasgow's food scene? I think there's like a really good
01:05variety because there's obviously a lot of cultures in Glasgow and you just get like so
01:08much choice and just nothing's like ever the same. It's Italian. And why do you like it so much?
01:13I just like it. It's a nice place. Comfortable, isn't it? Food's good. A lot of the places,
01:22my favourite places are closed, I'm afraid. Can you name some? Do you know Ferraris?
01:28Yeah, there's another place called Van Winkle. It's opposite the Barrowlands. And it's quite
01:33interesting, quite American-esque. Like the vibe of the place is sort of like kind of southern-y
01:41of the United States. It's interesting, that place. So yeah, I'd say those two.
01:45Staff make a good restaurant, you know, if they're friendly. It's like pubs. People go
01:52to pubs for the bar staff. A lot of the old local pubs. You don't get that anymore. It's
02:00mostly managers and they're not interested in their customers just turnover.
02:05Probably my favourite is lasagna. It's got to be about the interaction between the staff
02:16and the customer really. And then obviously the food. And the atmosphere. The atmosphere.
02:22Like if you go and you have like a really good meal, you want to go back, like just like
02:25good vibes. People are interested and they realise that the customer is there to support
02:33their job, basically. Not a lot of places you feel as though you're an inconvenience.
02:39If I go to a place like Glasgow and there's a lot of diversity in Glasgow from all types,
02:44all walks of life. And yeah, the more types of people, the more inviting it is, I feel
02:49like. I'll say that. If you go to restaurants abroad, people who work in restaurants do it
02:54because they love it. Whereas in this country, it's people just passing through.
