Guatemala: Mayan peasants denounce gov't for slighting their markets

In Rixaruh, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, 50 Mayan communities are denouncing the authorities for slighting the alternative market they established. Founded in 2009 with the support of the local municipality, the market is a grass roots initiative in which peasant farmers can sell their own products. However, the peasant farmers charge that they have lost official support as a result of their protests last year against the Monsanto Law. teleSUR
